For High Blood Pressure "Taken for 2 months. Hate it. Side effects are awful :( Headache, loss of energy, bone/joint pain, ringing in ears, numbness/tingling of hands and toes, light-headedness, confusion, visual issues, sensitivity to light, cough, muscle pain, stomach ache-too much to list. It does bring pressure down but may not last 24 hours. After 3 weeks, my BP was finally lower than 140/90 in the mornings. Next appointment, I'm off this drug. Can't take it :("

For High Blood Pressure "Female, 48, healthy, runner, probably half a stone overweight, but not much. I had high blood pressure (148/98) for a couple of weeks. Initial visit to doctor was for muscle aches and headaches. Blood tests revealed very low Vitamin D, so I was given a Vitamin D 6-month program and Naproxin NSAIDs for pains. Then 2 weeks later, Ramipril 1.25 was prescribed, and I was told to stop the NSAIDs. My BP was down to 138/86 straight away, but I constantly feel like I am having a panic attack. My heart feels too heavy and fluttery? My muscular pains are all back, headaches, a small cough, dryness, and tonsils are feeling swollen. Weird. Glad I found this site, I think the doctor was too quick to prescribe! Going for a second opinion."

For High Blood Pressure "I started taking the lowest dose at 1.5 with a few side effects: headache and blemishes on my skin, which became quite irritable and itchy. My blood pressure started at 220/140, dropping to 153/98, so doctors increased the dose to 2.5. Now my blood pressure ranges between 143/98 and 134/88. I will speak to doctors again as I am suffering from tiredness and bouts of high blood pressure noticeable with my face burning and cheeks flushing. I must be the unlucky one that has picked up side effects."

For High Blood Pressure "Diagnosed with borderline hypertension - doctor asked what I wanted to do about it, treat or monitor? I said treat, and the doc prescribed 1.25 Ramipril. I feel much healthier since I started treatment. Fewer headaches, decreased stomach acid, and improved erections. Unbelievable, yes, but a real bonus - has anyone seen similar benefits?"

For High Blood Pressure "I had a few months of a living nightmare on this drug. It gave me a real thumping heartbeat to the point that I couldn’t sleep or even relax because I was so aware of it. It also gave me one massive headache. On top of all that, it did absolutely nothing for my BP!"

For High Blood Pressure "Was diagnosed 5 weeks ago when a general health check saw my b.p. was 210/76. I was put on amlodipine 10 mg for the first 2 weeks with little improvement, and now I am also taking ramipril 2.5 mg, been taking for 4 days and b.p. has dropped to 153/70. Side effects are a dull headache and feeling exhausted, but have been assured this is only temporary."

For High Blood Pressure "Like some other reviews of this product, I took Ramipril and experienced the following side effects: mouth so dry that it was difficult to swallow, headache, stomach ache, strange looking eyes, just felt very odd, shaky, tingly tongue, short of breath, acidic, hot but clammy, fidgety, restless, couldn't sleep. Could feel and hear when resting, my heart beating really fast. Awful feeling, stopped taking and have now been given Amlodipine, which I will take today for the first time."

For High Blood Pressure "I’ve been on ramipril for 1 month, and it has been hell, this pill is not to be taken. I felt weak, headache, shortness of breath, unable to walk without support. I felt as though I was going to faint, so I just stopped taking it. Please stay away from this dreadful drug."

For High Blood Pressure "I was really apprehensive about starting ramipril, but it has been fine so far. My BP has come down immediately, and I feel better. Within 20 minutes of taking the first pill, I unexpectedly felt a brief moment of a feeling of calm. I am fortunate to so far not have gotten the cough side effect. I get a very mild headache in the day sometimes, which I can live with, and I hope that will go away in time. I am only on a 1.25 mg dose at this point. I’ll check my bloods and BP in a couple of weeks. Overall, a week in - I feel glad I am taking this medication because my BP is now in the normal range."

For High Blood Pressure "I was prescribed Ramipril 2.50 mg to bring my BP down, which was spiking between 145/90 and 155/85. I found the usual headaches, dizziness, and tiredness during the first few weeks. Those symptoms never really went away. I think I just was able to manage them better as time went on. My BP did drop to around 120/80, though. But I have recently found the dizziness started to affect me a bit more, especially walking in busy shops. I've gone to the GP to ask for a lower dosage of 1.25 mg. I've only been on it for 3 days. My BP has gone up slightly to around 125/80. But I shall monitor that over the next few weeks. I've also noticed the 1.25 mg has given me a slightly drier throat. Not sure if it has to do with the coating of the capsule as the medicine should be the same as before. If BP goes up anymore and dizziness is the same, I shall go back to the usual 2.50 mg dosage, I will have just got to live with it."

For High Blood Pressure "Have just started Ramipril 10 mg daily this week. While I do endure a mild, annoying headache, I have been able to feel free breathing. I appreciate the many comments posted, they have been informative and consoling. To the gentleman who lost his wife, my sincerest condolences. Thank you for the warning, I hope research is forthcoming to prevent such a tragedy from happening again."

For High Blood Pressure "I have been on Ramipril 2.5 mg for four weeks now, and BP has dropped from an average of 140/90 to 121/82, so slightly above normal. I had an aching back for the first two weeks, but that settled. Today, after four weeks, I have a slight headache but suspect that is the cold weather rather than the tablets. I am taking mine at night, as I read this was better to avoid the early morning increase in BP and also so if there was dizziness, I'd be asleep, so would be okay. Not due back to the doctor for another two months, so will continue monitoring and will call him if things change before then. Fingers crossed this will continue to be okay for me."

"I've been on this drug for a few weeks, and what led me to this website is this: I have been searching for an answer which I cannot find. Doesn't anyone else have a loss of appetite? I don't get hungry; if it weren't for our routine - lunch at noon and dinner at 6 p.m., I would completely forget, and when I do, I don't eat a lot. It gave me headaches at first, but it's getting better. I have no other side effects. This drug isn't bad, and as long as it's keeping me alive, then I don't mind taking them."
