Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I am taking Votrient for 14 days. My side effects are vomiting, some stomach problems, and a temperature around 37℃. Half of my left kidney was removed in June 2015, but a year after I got results that I have MS on my sternum bone and 2 tumors appeared in the soft tissues around the sternum. After 14 days, one of the tumors is getting smaller, I hope this will happen with the other one. Reading the other comments, I hope the side effects will go away and the tumors will be gone. I am 23 years old. God bless everyone."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "Diagnosed on Jan 2, 2015, with renal cell carcinoma. I'm 61 and have been a picture of health my whole life. The right kidney had a tumor that they were going to remove until they found 2 lesions on my liver. The first medication I did not respond to, and I have been on Votrient for 2 weeks. After 1 week, they felt I was responding. The side effects are bad, with vomiting and diarrhea that drain me. It's hard to eat, as food doesn't taste right, and now my tongue has a burnt taste, so nothing tastes good, and I have lost a lot of weight in a short period of time. I sleep 10-12 hours a night and take a 2-hour nap. They say this is all typical for everyone. How long has it taken everyone to finally get back to feeling normal? I use a walker around the house and a wheelchair for the doctor."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "Discovered renal cell carcinoma in right kidney and had it removed in 2013. In 2016, it metastasized to liver. Had radioactive isotopes placed in three tumors in liver. Started taking Votrient 800 mg, but couldn’t tolerate it, so was cut back to alternating 400 mg and 200 mg every other day. My tumors have shrunk and kept cancer at bay now for 3 years. I have terrible diarrhea, stomach pain, loss of taste and appetite, all white hair, dry heaves. However, I take it at night and am on the toilet half the night, but I wake up each day and thank the Lord for another day!"

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I'm a 66-year-old male. Had a radical nephrectomy of the left kidney in 2011. Scans showed a huge tumor. Six years later, had nonstop headaches for about 4 weeks. Scans showed a tumor on the cerebellum. Had surgery to remove that on May 10, 2016. That left me with palsy down my left side as the tumor and surgery damaged the 7th cranial nerve. Now I use a walker and wheelchair. Now a tumor has showed up in the stomach. Went on Votrient, effects were vomiting, diarrhea, all hair turned white, unable to get out of bed, loss of appetite, no taste. I started using cannabis oil, which helped alleviate nausea and loss of appetite. Last scans about two months ago, the tumor couldn't be seen. The oncologist didn't say it was gone, but it couldn't be seen, whereas the prior scan showed it clearly."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "My husband's left kidney was removed in March 2015. No signs of cancer for one and a half years. In October 2016, he had a cough and lower back pain. Did PET CT and found mets in lungs and spine. Started taking Votrient since December 2016. After 3 months, tumors in lungs are found shrinking. Major side effects are vomiting, muscle and bone pain. Nowadays he is full-time on bed due to muscle pain. Acid reflux is overcome with Pan D. We are hoping and praying for positive results."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "1/3/16. Was told I had cancer at the bottom of my kidney, and it got large, the doctor said, and is pressing into my spine. Was on Votrient about 2 1/2 months, and a scan showed the tumor size had not changed. After taking Votrient about 5 months, I got very sick and could not eat or drink for about 10 days. Did a lot of vomiting. My stomach hurt for many days. Need to ask the doctor if I should get back on it (the mass must shrink a lot, the doctor says, before they would consider surgery). This has been very scary as the mass is pressing and causing tightness and twisting of my left leg, but I'm doing a lot of praying for myself and all cancer patients. We desperately need cures. I get scans on Jan 16."

For Renal Cell Carcinoma "My husband started 800 mg Votrient 12 months ago, 3 months post-right renal nephrectomy with grade 4 renal cell carcinoma nodules in both lungs. CT scans 3 months later showed all nodules had shrunk, the last 3 CT scans have revealed no change, and he is stable. BUT he is suffering from massive bouts of diarrhea, as in some days/nights 10 or more times. He finds drinking the required amount of water makes him nauseous, but he looks dehydrated, pale, and is lethargic. Because of the urgent diarrhea, he is always worried about going places unless he knows where he can rush to the toilet, so he tends not to go far, so this really impacts his life. He also has vomiting at times. His specialist only says to take anti-diarrhea tablets and prescribed Maxalon."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "My husband had a nephrectomy of his left kidney, it had spread to his left testicle, and he had the testicle removed as well. Before the operation, the surgeon said that the mass had been slow-growing for roughly ten years. He is 67 and in mostly good health outside of the cancer. It has been a year and a half on Votrient. The first dosage was too high and caused him a few hospital visits to stabilize his liver function. Now he is on half that dose, the only prominent side effect is the occasional nausea, fatigue, and vomiting/fainting spells. Of course, his hair has also gone completely white. He is very thin and struggles to put on weight but has a healthy appetite. It seems that this dosage is working, his cancer cells have shrunk. He goes for a PET scan twice a year and has been clear so far. In 4 months, it will be 2 years since diagnosis. So far, the medication is working. The diet seems to be the trickiest part, and I would recommend that you see an expert dietician. A specific diet is NB."

For Renal Cell Carcinoma "My father-in-law (age 76) suffered from renal cell carcinoma. After nephrectomy of the affected kidney, he was fine with a single kidney for more than 1 year. His creatinine was around 1.1 to 1.2 (with a single kidney). He did not have any high blood pressure or diabetes. However, after a routine CT, a few questionable nodules were detected in the lungs. Without cross-verification (like repeat scan/biopsy/PET scan, etc.), his oncologist prescribed him pazopanib 800 mg per day. Soon after starting the medicine, his blood pressure became extremely high (200/100), and creatinine started jumping from 1.1, 1.8, 2.2, 2.8, 3.2, and 3.5 in 3 months. His platelet dropped from 165,000 to below 50,000 with a lot of side effects (vomiting, diarrhea, etc.). We repeatedly informed the oncologist, but he was in denial mode. When we consulted a nephrologist, he stopped the medicine. The deteriorating renal function stopped at creatinine 3.5. But, unfortunately, his platelet did not recover from below the 50,000 mark, and he died due to a cerebral hemorrhage."

Pazopanib for Renal Cell Carcinoma "I have been taking Votrient since Fall 2015. Bilateral Renal cell carcinoma. Left total nephrectomy and partial right. Small spot on liver at that time. Remaining tumors on the right. Due to surgery complications after right kidney surgery, sepsis, heart attack, and stroke. I am now 59 years old. Votrient 800 mg daily for about 5 weeks was rough...but I would do it again. Vomiting, diarrhea, high blood pressure, body tired all the time. My hair has turned white, most people like my highlights! My oncologist has been wonderful and I have responded well to lower doses of Votrient which has helped my side effects. September 2016 I received great news! I am cancer-free. Continue on maintenance dose right now of 200 mg 3x/wk."
