Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have acute gastritis, and this medicine makes me feel worse. Too many side effects are associated with it. I feel more pain in my stomach, lightheaded, dizzy, and just overall bad. I was starting to feel better before I took this medicine, and now I have to wait for it to run its course."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and have been miserable. Zofran is keeping me out of the ER right now. At first, I noticed it made me a little dizzy, and it still makes me feel just a little weird within the first hour, but it’s extremely tolerable. The constipation is super annoying, but talk to your doctor about it if that’s an issue, and you can probably take something to help that. It stops me from throwing up, but I am still definitely nauseous. Brings it from like a 10 to a 5 or 6 maybe, but I can EAT now. That is huge. I am eating small meals when I haven’t had a meal in weeks. I’ve been barely eating and drinking. I am completely dependent on Zofran to be any type of functional right now. It makes me a little tired but also gives me more energy to not just stay in bed all day because it makes me feel better. Highly recommend, just watch out for the side effects I mentioned. Nothing to be scared of, extremely tolerable for me :)"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I was hit in the head recently. I had to go to the hospital. I was dry heaving and concussed. I was given an IV, then the bag was hung. I asked what it was. 'Zofran, it should help you stop needing to throw up.' It did, I stopped dry heaving within 2 minutes. Though I had a concussion, I did become a little confused. It really stops you from needing to vomit. Now I am taking a different drug to reduce nausea. If you are offered Zofran by a doctor for your issue, I would try it. It really helped me in the hospital. No side effects, you might be mildly dizzy or confused. I probably had a large dose. I have no idea. The IV was flowing into my arm for over 30 minutes. It's a drug that serves a purpose, with few side effects."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "My doctor prescribed this to me for pregnancy-induced nausea and vomiting. All of my pregnancies were horrible with nausea and vomiting. Well, this time I'm about seven weeks pregnant, and I have been taking the generic brand ondansetron orally dissolving tablets, they are small with a minty flavor. It melts quickly, and I must say I have not vomited one time this pregnancy. I have had mild tiredness, headache, dizziness, and much better than nausea and vomiting and being unable to eat."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "16-year-old daughter was having headaches and was doing infusions with medications. Used Zofran for nausea. Immediately after it was injected, she had a severe allergic reaction, could not breathe, felt her throat tighten up, shortness of breath, dizziness, anxiety, shivering, and sweating. Oxygen was given, and this passed quickly within 5 minutes. Was observed in ER, and there were no other effects after that episode."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I caught a stomach virus last winter and was vomiting repeatedly. I couldn't keep anything down. I was nauseous, dizzy, and feverish. I felt like I was on a moving boat, and I couldn't move or even think without vomiting. After I threw up bile the 2nd day, I went to the ER. I vomited in the waiting room and 3 more times in the exam room. I was given Zofran, which helped a lot. I only threw up 2 or 3 more times after that. I was diagnosed with norovirus."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting, Postoperative "Was given Zofran for nausea in the recovery room before going to the same-day surgery unit prior to release. Ended up with nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and shivering. After the second vomiting episode, I was given Phenergan and was able to be released in another couple of hours."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Until my doctor gave me Zofran, I was one of the millions of women who suffered terrible morning sickness. It was so bad, in fact, that I couldn't work. The first day I took it, I became dizzy, but the vomiting stopped. The dizziness was gone by the second day. It did cause constipation, and I was hungry all the time. By the second trimester, I went off of it and found that my bowel movements returned to normal and my appetite had returned to somewhat normal. It definitely serves its purpose during the first trimester."

Ondansetron for Gastroenteritis "I had my gallbladder removed and was diagnosed with gastroenteritis almost 10 years ago now! I never quite got better, I still have nausea and gut discomfort to this day, but I am sure anxiety has a lot to do with my issues. I take 4 mg Zofran when I feel really bad and haven't been able to eat. It really relaxes my stomach and allows me to feel like eating again. I have a pre-existing heart issue, which doesn't seem to be overly reactive when taking Zofran, but I don't take more than a couple pills a week. I also don't feel very dizzy when taking it, and if I did have a headache, it doesn't get worse with Zofran. Generally helps me more than hinders!"

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "Hospitalized for a major gut infection. I was told this was the strongest antiemetic they could give me. Unfortunately, the nausea was only mildly helped. However, vomiting did stop. This medication didn't make me dizzy at all. Tastes like cough medicine. I recommend this for mild nausea, it wasn't really effective for treating more intense nausea. Very expensive for how little relief it gave me."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I take another drug that causes severe nausea. Zofran was prescribed; the nausea stopped, but the other side effects from Zofran were so overwhelming that I had to stop taking it. The side effects were diarrhea, headaches, blood in stool, dizziness, and yes, nausea. I couldn't drive, so I'll live with the nausea until I see my endocrinologist again and (maybe) he suggests something else. Bottom line: the side effects of Zofran outweigh the benefits."

Ondansetron for Gastroenteritis "I’m inpatient for severe nausea and have been given Zofran, but I just read the info on this med, and the action and side effects are almost what I’m trying to overcome. It was a blessing because it works really well. I think it was IV, but it may be making me confused, dizzy, vision blurring, maybe jaundice. I’m not going to take it anymore."

Ondansetron for Gastroenteritis "I got prescribed Zofran as needed for nausea. I got diagnosed with GERD/GI problems and reflux, which is causing all of the nausea. My PC recommended Zofran to help nausea, and to be honest, this does not help at all with the nausea and queasy feeling. Zofran also has serious side effects, and I have noticed that I get very dizzy and lightheaded a short time after taking the medication. I was out to dinner once and took Zofran before dinner because I felt awful. That was not a smart idea because I thought I was going to pass out at dinner since the side effects are so extreme. Do not take this medication long term unless you have a reason to, because the side effects are kind of dangerous, even if used for a short period of time. Be very careful when taking this medication. I stopped taking it because of the severe side effects and the fact that it was not helping my symptoms."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "It works okay. I wish it worked better for me because I struggle greatly with nausea and vomiting due to anxiety and panic disorder, as well as IBS. I have still vomited despite taking this medication before. Doctors love to prescribe it because it's very tolerable, but it won't be a cure-all. It works maybe 75% of the time to prevent vomiting. Helps just slightly with nausea. But it's better than nothing! The only side effect I get is dizziness and a mild headache."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Took this for nausea due to flu. It might have helped, I'm not sure, but I took it twelve hours ago, and now I have the worst headache of my life, and nothing gets rid of it. I can't move, and I'm very dizzy. Also slightly nauseous. Phenergan would have been better. Also, this stuff tastes gross, and I almost puked trying to swallow it. Would not take this again."

"I started taking this for 'morning sickness' during my 3rd pregnancy. In the past, I had dealt with extreme nausea and vomiting the first trimester, which made me so dehydrated I was hospitalized several times. This time around, I was at my wits' end and tried all the anti-nausea medicines except this. After taking it, the nausea completely disappeared. Like another user, I felt dizziness and a headache at first, but that soon was gone and I was normal. Can't say enough about this! A lifesaver for anyone who knows what it's like to throw up for weeks on end."

Ondansetron for Nausea/Vomiting "I have been using Zofran as needed every 8 hours for nausea/vomiting, and I get a lot of dry heaves on really bad days. This medicine does make you dizzy and lightheaded, but I would say it helps a little bit. But there have been times where it does not stop vomiting. It also doesn’t address the root cause of nausea and is not meant to be used for a long period of time. I would recommend trying it if you need to get nausea and vomiting under control. They use Zofran in the ER to treat nausea/vomiting."
