For Barrett's Esophagus "I have had GERD and Barrett's esophagus for many years and have been taking 20mg of omeprazole every day in the morning since the drug was approved by the FDA (early 1990's?). It has changed my life by eliminating the constant pain of severe heartburn with little to no side effects (I guess I'm lucky in that respect). My ENT doc says I will need to be on this drug for the rest of my life to ward off the potential of the Barrett's turning into esophageal cancer. Not to mention the comfort I am getting and the food choices I can make that no longer bother me and trigger heartburn."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for GERD "I have been taking Prilosec for several years and I take one with water every morning about 30 minutes before I get up and it has totally eliminated any burning in my chest/esophagus. Also, I learned not to eat any Mexican or spicy food within 3 -4 hours before going to bed."

For GERD "I am so happy to know that I’m not as crazy as I thought I was. I started this medication in hopes that it would help alleviate some stomach issues I was having, it did just that and more. As the months went on I started getting dry mouth and I developed erythema nodosum. I continued to take this per my doctor as I was going on vacation and she didn’t want things to change for me. Afterwards I started to taper off and I began to become anxious/nervous & panicky. Once I was fully off of the medication things got worse for me. I am only just over a month off of this medication and I’m still having a heck of a time. I have never been on any medications and I have never dealt with anxiety like this. I haven’t wanted to leave the house and I’m just hoping the symptoms subside soon because I can’t stand to feel like this while trying to care for my children."

For Hiatal Hernia "I have been taking omeprazole for more than 20 years as I have a hiatus hernia and can confidently say the drug works. Simple as. Anxiety and depression is not and cannot be caused by a pump inhibitor such as omeprazole as it simply stops the production of acid. I would suggest to anyone who is depressed and anxious that the issues are not this drug but likely some other medication or personal issue."

For GERD "I was diagnosed years ago with a Hiatal hernia. It's not a bad one as far as Hiatal hernias go but it caused really bad acid reflux. My reflux was so bad, sometimes at night, the stomach acid would back up into my lungs. I would wake up coughing that crap up and it burned sooooo bad. The doctor who was in charge of my hernia care decided that the hernia wasn't bad enough to risk surgery so he opted to try Omeprazole. I have been on Omeprazole for nearly 10 years now and can count on one hand the number of times I have had issues with reflux. I also want to note that I take a multi-vitamin as well. Omeprazole can cause mineral deficiencies if taken long term."

For GERD "I had been on ranitidine for a year before the recall happened, then I was taking cimetidine, my reflux was controlled “ok” by the ranitidine as long as I took it very specifically, but I’d still get flare ups at night really badly. Cimetidine was less effective in some ways / less predictably effective and my flare ups got to the point I went to the ER to get the lidocaine for my stomach to make it stop. Er doc prescribed me Omeprazole For 30 days until I can get in and see my regular doctor. For me, the PPI is like night and day. Like as if I have a healthy stomach again. It’s incredible. I’ve been taking it at night, around 5 pm instead of morning and I so far have not had any reflux sensation at all. I have so far not experienced any of the other side effects and I feel happy and normal on it. I hope this continues because it’s a lifesaver for me."

For GERD "I began taking Omeprazole a few years ago due to Gerd. Recently I was diagnosed with IBS with constipation, some cramping, pain. I had an Upper GI (EGD), polyps were found in the body of stomach and fundus and also gastric polyps were found. Luckily results were good, not the pre-c type. Doctors should be made to have to give you a warning about this before starting the medication. I'm going to wean myself off of this poison."

Prilosec OTC (omeprazole) for Indigestion "I had terrible indigestion for about 3 years. It got progressively worse so that I had to take baking soda every night. On my recent trip to the USA, it was noticed that I would not eat late nor lots of food. A nurse at a BBQ gave me a packet of PRILOSEC 20mg. Back home I tried the medication. I was cured by taking only 1 tablet. I am finishing the packet, but had absolute no more problems nor symptoms after only 1 tablet. I have to say, that besides taking the medication, people also prayed for me."

For Indigestion "Was prescribed 20mg a day for indigestion and suspected stomach ulcer as having sharp pains upper stomach as well as heartburn and indigestion. Took capsule in the morning 30 mins before breakfast. Helped the indigestion but I have severe dizziness where I feel drunk or doped up, chest and stomach pain and my anxiety is through the roof. After 7 tablets I ended up going to hospital as I thought I was having a heart attack. I was examined and told my anxiety was driving my stomach and chest pain. That maybe the case, however the omeprazole was definitely driving the anxiety. I'm quitting this medication from tomorrow and pray I feel and get better."

For GERD "On omeprazole for GERD 40 mg and for 4 months I thought I was going to die, I had anxiety attacks every night and could hardly breathe. Headaches, drooling, coughing, choking and had no energy and rotten taste in mouth and throat burning up, so couldn't speak. I refuse to stay on tablets instead I am going to watch diet and lose weight. Any tests I had showed clear so it was tablets side effects making me worse. Natural products are best."

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "This drug gave me some of the worst experiences of my life. I was prescribed this drug (15 mg twice a day) for mild acid reflux/gastritis symptoms. The side effects of this medicine are awful. Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, chest and back pain, shaking, burning sensation in arms and back. My vision went blurry and I had severe brain fog. I felt like I was about to die pretty much the entire time with chest racing and strong heartbeats. I couldn't sleep and would wake up pretty much as soon as I fell asleep. I stopped taking these tablets 3 weeks ago and still I am not right. I can feel the cloud of these tablets slowly lifting. I would not take these tablets again."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for Erosive Esophagitis "I have taken Prilosec or omeprazole for years and in increasing doses over time it has given me perfect control over my reflux and heart burn problem. Nexium made me so sick after 5 days of use that I could not get out of bed. Nothing else has ever worked so extremely well than this medicine."

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "Took 20mg omeprazole a day for 5 days. I changed from a healthy, happy human being to a sad, thin, nauseous shell. I've lost half a stone and struggle to get out of bed. My heart races every morning until late afternoon. I am constantly exhausted and have lost interest in everything I once enjoyed. Standing in the shower is like a day's work. Took my last one 2 days ago and still feel like rubbish"

Prilosec (omeprazole) for GERD "I took this to help control acid reflux and it seemed to help that but it gave me IBS-D (irritable bowel syndrome , diarrhea) that took me years to control, where I couldn't work or leave the house. Still to this day I deal with it - 6 years later but improved. I never made the connection until I went back on Prilosec a few months ago and it flared up like crazy again. I never had problems like this before Prilosec."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome "I have a hiatal hernia which can cause bad reflux, etc. I've been taking Prilosec at least ten years (probably closer to fifteen) and I've never had ANY negative side effects. It has been invaluable for relieving the inflammation and irritation associated with reflux, gastritis, GERD, etc. Awesome medicine, never had any interaction issues, and I'm on a number of serious medicines (heart, blood pressure, anti- anxiolytics, and pain meds). I'm 58, and will probably be taking it as long as I'm around. Great medicine."

I did my research and read the reviews on these pills and was all ready extremely skeptical but took it for two days and already was extremely shaky, anxiety was through the roofs, depressive, suicidal thoughts came flooding back. I had difficulty breathing and concentrating, shaky and painful eyes, piercing headaches. and this was only after 2 days, do NOT recommend"

For Barrett's Esophagus "I wish I could've been on this much earlier. I first started getting acid reflux with my first pregnancy and it continued for over 20 years. I never knew how dangerous it is...even though there'd be nights I wake up choking, coughing and feeling like someone poured acid down. Two years ago, I started choking on poultry and larger pills. After months of scares, finally saw a doctor. After a few tests & endoscopy, my esophagus was actually closing up. The doctor had to widen it...the reflux had caused so much scarring, he said he could only open it up 2/3 of what it should be. I always thought acid reflux was just an inconvience---never knew it could cause so much damage and potentially could have killed me. Omeprazole really helped."

For Indigestion "After having a colonoscopy & EDG test done in October 2020. My doctor put me on Omeprazole. I took it for a week, until I read the side affects & chose to go off of it. Two months later I had a telephone doctor visit. I told him the side affects that I read. (Which he tried to brush them off). I took his word & tried the medication again. Only to realize it weakened my immune system & I ended up with shingles twice. I decided to do my own research & rely on natural supplements. Probiotic has been the best for me, along with my vitamins & herbal supplements. I would never take this medicine long term. Please do your research before taking any medication."

Prilosec (omeprazole) for GERD "I love this stuff. Ended my reflux and perpetual sore throat. I was thankful for how quickly it worked. Now to the packaging! These pills are nearly inaccessible in the packaging they come in. I use a scissor to open the pockets where the pills are incased and then store the pills in a small bottle."

Prilosec OTC (omeprazole) for GERD "It was wonderful to be able to take one in the morning and be free of distress all day, but soon I began to have dizziness on arising which soon increased to all day. By process of elimination I found the cause to be Prilosec. The problem was resolved after discontinued use. Now I am taking ranitidine with no such side effects and very satisfied."

For GERD "I didn't know I had GERD as I've never experience heartburn. I did, however, experience difficulty swallowing and I constantly had to clear my throat. I couldn't get a sentence out without making this annoying noise. I thought I had post nasal drip, I was taking Claritin D every day (I stopped) and Flonase. My Primary sent me to an ENT, I complained about this throat thing forever. After listening to me talk and hearing the hoarseness in my voice the ENT said; "I don't think you have post nasal drip" put the camera through my nose and down my throat - I have Gerd... say whaa. I had no symptoms of that, so I thought. That day I started taking 40 mg of OMEPRAZOLE... It has changed my life... almost immediately it went 90% away. :-)"
