"I actually just did a search “Systane causing grainy residue” and I was shocked to find that other people have had side effects from these drops. I have also experienced worsened itching, burning and blurred vision. I will not use these. I will inform Optometrist who recommended it."

"Gave me swollen and puffy eye lids. I quit using Systane lid wipes and Systane complete drops as they made my eye lids puffy. Now I see that Drugs.com lists this as a side effect. Don't take a chance with your eyes. Costco may have to stop stocking this product."

"This has been my brand for the past 15 years, product is very good. But new bottle introduced in 2022 is not working well for me, drop that forms at tip most of the time is to big like 3 drops in one, product is wasted, also doesn't fall always vertically in the line of the tip so also waste product. Former container was better."

"Started using systane on the advice of an optometrist. It seemed to make my eyes burn but I was under the impression that it was fairly benign medication. After a few months of using it periodically it has become obvious to me that systane has been the cause of my blurry vision and eye irritation. I woke up with some bad floaters and thought that it was the beginning of a retinal detachment. Kind of scary and I don't know if it can be attributed to the use of systane but I can tell you that I will not use it anymore. You make your own decisions but I would not advise its use"

"I used Systane Ultra Drops and I have been experiencing a painful ache in my eye ever since I put the drops in. Had used the gel before with no problem, so I am very surprised. Not happy with the product nor the response when I talked with Systane. Asked to have them send me the medical information containing the pharmacology, indications and contraindications in detail. All they sent me was a copy of the back of the box."

"I had some chemical go into my eyes on 18th December. The only symptom was some white discharge I was put on moxigram lx and systane ultra. Since 6th January I have been seeing floaters and flashes. I went and got my eye retina checked and got to know that the vitreous fluid is sticking very tightly to the back of the eye and I may get a retinal tear when it separates. I feel my vitreous fluid has changed its properties due to systane ultra as I have started seeing flashes and floaters only recently(6th Jan) . I may be wrong. I can't say. I have stopped Systane ultra today. Will report back and tell u all if my symptoms stop"

"After a period of Dr appointments for red sore eyes, I was given Systane. At first I thought they were amazing but a bit sticky. Then I wondered why my eyes felt like they were turning in or twitching. Today I had to cancel my plans because it was like I had double vision. I realised it started about the same time as the drops and checked here. I must never use again!"

"I used Systane complete after my cataract surgery and it burned the inside of my nose and gave my symptoms of hay fever with lots of sneezing. Horrible product and should be taken off the market. I suspect that it's the preservative in Systane that is the culprit."

"Glaucoma patient with a corneal graft who needs lubricant for dry eye. Was using Refresh ointment without incident. When I ran out I was given Systane Original lubricant eye drops for use 4 times a day. After a few days I developed SEVERE pain in my eye. My eye was BLOOD shot, lid was swollen, I could barely open it to take my glaucoma drops. Stopped taking it right away. I also wasn’t told about preservative vs preservative free. I am hoping that when this nightmare is over my vision will not be worse. I’ve already been through enough. Be forewarned."

"I've used this wonderful product for years, but now I must change. The shape of the new bottle is awful. The product spills all over my face. What was a month's supply, now only lasted 1/2 the time or less. I don't know if the design is to create waste so users must buy more, or if it's just a stupid design that I hope is corrected soon."

"I don't have a problem with the eye drops they work fine for me. My problem is the bottle after I use it only a few times the liquid will not come out anymore. I shake it and hear it so there's still a full bottle it just will not come out. I throw the bottle away and open a new one. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's a waste of my money to keep buying but I really like the systane. I don't want to start another brand, so what do I do?"

"My doctor recommended these drops to cure my dry eyes. After about 5/6 hours (3pm-9pm) I noticed a blood clot in my right eye, my dominant eye. I experienced blurred vision, also. I admit I put more than the two drops (maybe 3/4) per directions. But I've done the same with other eye drops as well, and had no adverse side effects. I can not recommend this brand to anyone, use with caution if you must!!"

"I used this for Fuch's Corneal Dystrophy. I hope and pray this blurred vision goes away. I don't think my watery-eyes-in-the-morning problem will ever come back. This product has really dried up that problem."

"My doctor prescribed Systane: 1 drop in each eye twice a day. I have used it for about 3 weeks. Lately, my eyelashes have been stuck together when I wake. This morning I noticed they have become short and are almost gone. I am stopping Systane immediately. Forget Systane if you want your eyes to look nice."

"I had LASIK about 4 years ago and it left my eyes pretty dry. When they’re super dry I notice my vision seems worse so per my eye doctor I use drops daily. I recently bought this Systane Gel and I do NOT like it. The drops don’t feel as thick as Blink gel but it leaves a film that doesn’t clear up, so it makes my vision worse. It takes almost 45 mins for my vision to get clear which is unacceptable. Most of it seems to come right out & sit on my lashes. This was an expensive bottle and am pretty upset I wasted my money, I can’t use this anymore."

"Love Ultra for my eyes but tried Hydrate one - Both obscenely expensive but they need to fire the people who thought that the new dropper style works. OMG- The most ineffective stupid waste producing mode I have ever experienced."

"After brief use for occasional dry eyes I had extremely bad side effects. Tissue around my eyes red swollen itchy burns. No relief since August. Working with doctors. It’s the preservative in this product. Shame on FDA approval for a bad preservative"

"I started using Systane for dry eyes about 6 weeks ago. The last two weeks I have not been using them as religiously but 4/5 weeks ago I started noticing a difference in vision in my right eye. Especially when light hits my eye when watching tv etc. I have blurred vision in my right eye and cloudy streaks appearing. I am SHOCKED and only connected the dots right now after looking at reviews online. I am really angry that these drops were prescribed. If any optometrist actually did some googling they would know these drops are dangerous to prescribe to their patients."
