What is Visine Tears?
There are many brands and forms of ocular lubricant available and not all are listed on this leaflet.
Visine Tears is used in adults to relieve burning, irritation, and discomfort caused by dry eyes.
Visine Tears may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
You should not use an Visine Tears to treat or prevent an eye infection.
Before taking this medicine
You should not use an Visine Tears if you are allergic to it. This medicine will not treat or prevent an eye infection.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if it is safe for you to use Visine Tears if you have any type of infection in your eye.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How should I use Visine Tears?
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Wash your hands before using Visine Tears.
Do not use Visine Tears and call your pharmacist if the medicine looks cloudy or has changed color.
Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or ointment tube or place it directly on your eye. A contaminated tip can infect your eye, which could lead to serious vision problems.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while using Visine Tears.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Visine Tears is used when needed. If you are on a dosing schedule, skip any missed dose. Do not use two doses at one time.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose of ocular lubricant is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
What should I avoid while using Visine Tears?
Visine Tears may cause blurred vision. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you.
Do not use other eye medications unless your doctor tells you to.
Visine Tears side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Visine Tears and call your doctor if you have:
severe burning, stinging, or eye irritation after using the medicine;
eye pain; or
Common side effects of Visine Tears may include:
mild eye burning or irritation;
itching or redness of your eyes;
blurred vision; or
sensitivity to light.

What other drugs will affect Visine Tears?
Medicine used in the eyes is not likely to be affected by other drugs you use. But many drugs can interact. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
