For Birth Control "I started taking Jencycla in late June or early July 2020. I took it for 3 months, when I went to get more filled, my prescription suddenly changed to Movisse without doctor or pharmacist telling me, which I found weird. Both brands, though, have made my skin absolutely terrible. I have breakouts all the time when I usually have pretty clear skin. My periods have been incredibly inconsistent. I used to take Alesse but had to get changed to a BC pill with no estrogen as I was getting blood clots in my leg! I used to have my period at the same time for 3 days, ish, when I was on Alesse. Since taking the estrogen-free pills, I've skipped my period altogether 2 or 3 times, if I do get it, it lasts for 7 or 8 days, which is incredibly annoying. Getting an IUD insertion in the next few weeks, hoping for some positive changes after that procedure."

For Birth Control "This birth control, Jencycla, is the only kind that has helped with my acne. If the pharmacy fills it with any other generic version, I break out again. I’ve been told they are no longer making it, though. Is that correct?! Help!!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Jencycla for 4 months now, and I am having a positive experience with it overall. My body had to adjust to it in the first month, but after that, it's been great. I have the Factor V Leiden mutation, which affects blood clotting, so I needed to take a non-estrogen pill. In the first month: 1. I became more prone to acne and had a major breakout. 2. My period was 3 days instead of 6. After that first month: 1. My acne cleared; I also started paying more attention to my skincare, so I have no idea if the acne cleared because my body adjusted to the pill or if it was the skincare routine or both. 2. My period is back to 6 days. 3. I now have little to no PMS/PMDD symptoms; this is wonderful. I used to get so depressed, irritable, moody, bloated, extreme hunger, and sore boobs before my period, but now at the most, I might just be more sensitive and a little sad. And still no sign of pregnancy! I would recommend this; please note everyone reacts differently."

For Birth Control "I started taking Jencycla in October 2020. I have tried about every birth control, nothing else has really worked for me. My only issue with Jencycla was that I did get pregnant while on it. I ended up having a miscarriage, it definitely caught me off guard. I take my pill every day and at the same time. Other than that, I have not had any other issue with it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My doctor put me on this pill because I have chronic abnormal bleeding for the past 6 months. I have a few small uterine polyps that need to be removed. I wanted to take something to control the bleeding until I get my surgery. My doctor recommended this mini pill because it does not contain estrogen. This pill had the opposite effect on me, my bleeding got worse, passing large blood clots. I have severe cramps and need to take Advil constantly to control the pain, also, this pill has given me very bad bloating. I read that it contains lactose, and I’m lactose intolerant, and my doctor did not tell me that this pill contains lactose. I have taken birth control pills in the past and never had any reaction. I don’t recommend this specific Jencycla. I only took it for 2 weeks, and I’m going to stop taking it as I’m becoming anemic due to the severe bleeding I started to have while on the pill."

For Birth Control "This is by far the worst birth control I have tried! My face was as clear as a baby’s bottom my entire life. I switched to Jencycla and started breaking out horribly. I am now on month 4 of the pills and have the worst acne all over my forehead, cheeks, and chin. This was my last month on this pill. Please do not take this medication. Do your research before!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed this medicine to control heavy bleeding caused by premenopause hormonal changes. I used to take Minorval but would have non-stop bleeding for several weeks. I've been taking Jencycla for close to a month now, and the weight gain is crazy and depressing. I control my eating and try to be more active, but it keeps going up. Is it water retention, maybe, but I don't know what else to do other than to stop taking it and see what will happen..."

"Started this birth control in 2021 after my 3rd child. The first year I was on it, I was fine, then I experienced a lot of pain and found out in 2022 I have endometriosis, which is what I inherited from my mom's side of the family. My Obgyn switched it to non-estrogen to help with my endometriosis pain. It's so much worse than childbirth. Hurts the worst during my periods. My periods aren't red like they used to be, more a darker brown, almost old blood-colored. Sometimes I bleed for a week or 3 days. Once I bled twice in one month, then 10 days after the 2nd one, I bled for another week. Still currently on them. Ready to have my hysterectomy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Jencycla for about 4 years now. I can't take estrogen only because it gave me migraines. I have not gotten pregnant, but ever since I started taking it, I began gaining weight, and it's only gotten worse since. My periods are very irregular. It can vary anywhere between 25-50 days in between periods with no real pattern. I will also spot a lot of times in between as well. The good thing is it has reduced PMS symptoms drastically, and I noticed when I tried to stop taking it, the cramps without birth control were so bad I could hardly move, so right now I am sticking with it to help with the pain."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Jencycla for 2 months in combination with an estrogen patch as a treatment for perimenopause. I have only had 1 light period since starting it. However, my breasts hurt and itch constantly, and I have gained 15 lbs. I will be talking to my doctor about the weight gain at my next appointment."

For Birth Control "I have tried many different forms of birth control. I'm a 34 year old mom of 5, and this is the first time trying the minipill; I am very satisfied. The first couple of months took a bit of getting used to; some spotting, but it sorted itself out over time and significantly decreased my difficult periods. Decrease in migraine headaches as well."

For Birth Control "I had a terrible reaction to this drug. Due to the discontinuation of Micronor, I was given a prescription for Jencycla. While I had hoped to experience the same level of comfort that Micronor provided (no pain, minimal bleeding), I ended up with 7-8 days of bleeding instead of 5. While on Jencycla, I was passing blood clots for the first five days of my period. I had to change my overnight pads every hour, especially during the day. The severe bleeding caused me to stain my clothes, my office chairs, my bed sheets, and even my mattress. I stopped taking the drug after 4.5 months on the advice of my pharmacist, despite the skepticism of my GP, a man who was so doubtful that I almost asked him if he had a uterus to trivialize certain things. I am better now: less tired because no more blood clots and heavy flows, less pain because of fewer uterine contractions to let clots pass."

Only plus: the drug lessens the psychological symptoms of my PMDD."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for over a year now, and here’s my experience. I had switched over from my old birth control, which was a combination pill, but got off that because of major headaches. The first 6 months on this pill were not bad at all. No headaches, I felt normal, but the only downside was that I felt very emotionless, I still do at times. I find I became very nonchalant towards a lot of things, and I do believe it is from the birth control. The first 6 months, I had a very irregular cycle and still do. My period would come for about 7 days, then it would be gone for 2 months, and so on. After being on it for a bit over 6 months, my cycle started to become more irregular. I had no period for about 3 months, and then suddenly I got my period, and that period lasted a total of 15 days. The last few days were spotting, but still, the bleeding didn’t completely stop after day 15. Since then, I get very irregular bleeding and spotting out of nowhere. I do bleed sometimes after sex."

For Birth Control "I started taking this Jencycla medication 6 weeks postpartum, and I think it really contributed to my postpartum depression and anxiety. Hair breakage has been a huge issue for me, but it wasn’t until I got my period back at 9 months postpartum with spotting in between that I started doing research and realized it could be the pill causing all of this. Moodiness has been terrible, but I also have had fatigue and frequent headaches. I have been on this for months, and I am stopping it."
