Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months, I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form, metronidazole, that were disgusting to take and swallow, and that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seemed to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally, I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me Metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a Diflucan pill to take at the end of the course to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So, I've been on the Metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning and itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel, you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the course is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months and would definitely use again if needed."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I used Metronidazole vaginal cream 10% for bacterial vaginosis caused by washing too much. My only symptom was a yellow discharge. I was very worried to start the treatment because of the reviews, I was scared of the side effects, and I waited for a month before starting. I’m on my last day of treatment, and the only symptom I had was a bit of a headache at the beginning and, today, mild cramping. Symptoms are very minimal. I have no more discharge."

For Rosacea "This cream really works for me. In just one application, I see a difference. I am also using for my rosacea a new cream called Soolantra, this is the best!!! No inflammation, no dry skin, no bumps, my skin looks amazing! I apply Soolantra at night and Metronidazole in the morning, and it works great. I was so embarrassed because how bad and flaky my skin was, now it looks great, healthy!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I started getting BV when my partner, unbeknownst to me, started cheating. We were together for a couple of years, during which I took the pills - they were hard to swallow and irritated my stomach, even though they worked, but it would come back. We broke up, and I had other lovers, having protected and unprotected sex, and didn't develop BV with those partners. I got back with my old boyfriend, and BV started up again; even though it's not classified as an STD, it seems through my research on different boards that men can spread it. Anyway, I started using the gel, and despite the clumps of discharge, it worked fantastically. My boyfriend and I always use protection, and I do not allow him to perform oral on me either, since I've found that if he does this, I will also get BV. The gel really does work though."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I went to the doctor about a couple of small but persistent blemishes on my face. I was prescribed Rozex, which is an expensive product: $50 for a small tube. I applied it on my face. The next day, I had broken out in disgusting red, oily lumps all over my face. They burn and are extremely uncomfortable. I look in the mirror and can’t believe what I’m seeing. I’m a 41-year-old male, and I’ve never had anything like this happen to me. I'm going to see another doctor today to find out what’s going on. Terrible, terrible product."

For Rosacea "Started the gel 5 or so weeks ago for my rosacea, and it's just gotten a million times worse. My cheeks are angrier than ever, and I'm even getting spots on areas that are normally clear, like my forehead, nose, and chin."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "After being treated for yeast for 8 months with little success, my doctor put me on MetroGel as kind of a last resort to soothe my itching, burning, abnormal discharge, tingling, even though my cultures keep coming back negative for everything. I've taken MetroGel before when I actually had a positive culture for BV and had no complaints. This time around, I'm on my second night and feel awful. Itching is still there, I have body aches, chills, feel nauseous. I'm going to continue using this medicine for the next 3 nights, and I'll check back in to finish the review. I also have a gross discharge, but I assume this is the gel coming out."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Having suffered with BV for 2 years, I've tried all sorts to get rid of it! Natural yogurt, using 0% fragrance-free shower gel, Canesten (which worked for a little while but soon came back!) So I took a trip to the GP who prescribed me metronidazole gel. Before I took it, I read through the reviews here, and I was petrified reading all the side effects. Especially the feeling nauseous or vomiting ones. I am petrified of vomiting! But I bit the bullet and took the gel for 5 nights. I have had absolutely NO side effects at all. I feel very lucky considering the amount of ladies who have had this medication and suffered horrendous side effects! The BV has completely cleared up, I'm cured of soreness, and the awful smell! Finally!! I didn't drink any alcohol while taking the gel for 48 hours before I started using it and 72 hours after (very hard as I love my wine!) Just wanted to write this to reassure people that not everyone gets side effects :) Good luck, ladies!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "So it came back a lot since the last posting. I have had to figure everything out myself. It was hormone-related big time! Got on NuvaRing birth control for 3 or 4 months recently and have come off the last month. That helped more than anything. Reset your hormone balance with birth control. Also, BV has a hard time living when you take birth controls."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This cream made my rosacea 100% worse. It actually caused my face to burn, itch, and was very painful. I had to apply cold compresses to my face to relieve the pain. My dermatologist told me to stop using it and prescribed Triamcinolone ointment. This ointment took away the pain and some of the itching, and caused the red and purple bumps to flatten out. I'm still in the middle of a terrible flare-up. I am also taking Doxycycline 100 mg once daily. I think I am allergic to this cream."

For Rosacea "Metronidazole cream has cleared me up perfectly. My skin is the best it's been in years. My buddies say I look 10 years younger. I use it in the morning and at night. I also take 1 pill a day of Minocycline as well. Cleared my right up. Took about 6 weeks to fully kick in."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "This drug seems to work for me and get rid of the symptoms of BV, the smell and the itch, however, the BV itself seems to come back, so I think it clears the symptom but doesn't cure the problem in my body."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "When I got BV, usually it went away on its own within 2-3 days. When it lasted for months, I finally got the Metrogel, and after the first day, no more smell! Had zero side effects as well. I finally feel normal again!!"

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This is a follow-up from my comment on 2019-09-10. Once I stopped MetroGel, my face flared right back up. It's important people understand (like I didn't) before going on this. This FIXES the problem. If you're like me, this seems to be what has helped me on post-flare-up after MetroGel. (Face so dry) Keep looking, find a natural moisturizer and an oil. You need to create an artificial moisture barrier, I don't have one. EXFOLIATE once a week. Get all that dead skin off your face, along with any leftover moisturizer/oil. Immediately after drying your face, use oils and moisturizer. Water dries out my face. Why I only do it once a week. Avoid super hot showers. Another big thing for me was shampoo. In showers, the shampoo rinses off, comes in contact with my forehead, which causes INSTANT redness. Find a natural shampoo that works. These things will cost a bit. A good moisturizer will set you back $40 or so. Oils maybe $10. Along with shampoo at $12. Still way better than $220 for prescription meds that only help the problem once it's all over your face. Work on prevention."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've had BV off and on for almost 2 years now. I would use Cleocin gel when it would come back, but I think my body just got immune to it, so about two weeks ago I tried MetroGel. It went away but did give me a yeast infection. I used Monistat one day and boom, the BV came back. So I'm trying the MetroGel again, but just for a longer period of time in hopes it does the job this time. Doesn't give me any side effects, which is something I stressed before taking it."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've been getting bacterial infections on and off for about 10 years, have always taken the metronidazole pills, and they give me a bad taste in my mouth, so this time I wanted to try the vaginal gel! Did not work at all! Plus, it gave me a yeast infection! Now having to redo treatment with pills! FML!"

For Rosacea "I am annoyed as my previous old-school GP did nothing about my concerns about facial redness/flushing, etc. He just said it was due to my Irish roots. I recall raising this nearly 20 years ago. He retired, and I went to see the new GP on another matter, and immediately she identified rosacea and prescribed Rozex. It took 3 weeks to start working, but it has truly changed my life. I'd appear to blush at the slightest thing before, even if I wasn't embarrassed, it was because the flushing of rosacea was ever present, and I constantly felt hot. People are very insensitive to facial redness, and I held myself back because, with my rosacea, people assumed I was blushing, and it makes others curious/uncomfortable. I have had no strong side effects, strangely, I am more sensitive to hay fever, but a Piritin tablet sorts that. Overall, 10 out of 10."

For Rosacea "I've been using Metronidazole .75 topical gel for a couple of years now. It works great! Then I tried a less expensive Zyomet brand, which I didn't see listed here. I noticed the product began 'peeling' as soon as I applied moisturizer, even if I waited the specified time before applying...seems it reacts with the moisturizer. I figured out it was only when I used the Zyomet, and it doesn't happen with the Metronidazole...so I began using the Zyomet at night (just to use it up) and the Metronidazole during the day. Also, the Zyomet doesn't work as well to prevent breakouts! I will never buy that brand again...I will stick to the real thing!"

For Rosacea "Two months ago, I was prescribed metronidazole gel .75 for treating my rosacea. Within days, the large number of tiny pimples on my forehead were gone, as well as the redness and roughness of the skin on my temples. The med also reduced the redness on my nose and cheeks. And for me at least, the overall smoothness and dryness reduction is remarkable. My doctor gave me a long-term refill, and I'm hoping to continue its use if it continues to work this well. Cost is under $30 at my pharmacy, btw."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Gave this 5 stars. I will say it helps for the moment. I have had an issue now for several months going back to the doctor because of BV and yeast infection. She gives me the Diflucan to take, then do the gel for 5 nights. Once I'm done, in a few days it is back. I'm sick of going to the doctor every month. Last visit, she had recommended fresh suppositories. Ordered them and could not do it. So, with that being said, I'm on my last night now of the gel. I got a probiotic vitamin that I will start, plus I started with the Activia yogurt and changed my soap. Fingers crossed. Side effects I agree with most: headache, cold-like symptoms, and yes, a little more tired than usual."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Dealt with recurrent infection (BV and yeast) for two years. I am currently reading through comments on many people's negative experiences with Metro and also wondering if others are having the same issue. Randomly, in my early 20s, I started to have issues with recurrent infection. I am sexually active, but I cut every potential issue out to stop these infections, yet still had the same issue. The first time having BV, I was prescribed Metro (oral), which in turn gave me a yeast infection (because antibiotics do that). I have tried every possible cure for recurrent infection, and boric acid suppositories have been the only things that work for me. My doctor put me on long-term treatment after my sixth time getting BV in the past two years, where I took oral Metro, followed by 30 days of boric acid and six months of Metro gel (I am on my first month of the gel)."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I’m on MetroGel-Vaginal on day 3, and I’ve been absolutely fine. Only side effect was cramping and feeling sick on the first day, other than that, absolutely fine. I was scared at first because of reading reviews, but so happy I started this and took the chance. If you’re worried, don’t be, do it! Best thing."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've struggled with BV for a couple of years now. I've taken so many meds for this thing that it became a way of life. Always it returns! I'm also always told I have an inflamed cervix. Now I'm 11 weeks pregnant and went for my check. My cervix was severely inflamed (it bled during the pap smear). Was initially given Gynotran vaginal inserts (that didn't work). Now I've been given MetroGel inserts for 5 days. It was my last dose last night, and I noticed on day 3 cramping, then day 4-5 persistent abdominal cramping like when you hold your pee too long (which I didn't). Plus, I'm urinating a lot. Saw tiny white clumpy discharge too. Really hope this works and that I don't get a yeast infection as I'm already worried about my baby and fear using more meds during this time."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "Suffered with rosacea for years, delighted with results, but started experiencing a metallic taste and nausea after a week of use - have now had 3 weeks of nausea and wish I had read the enclosed leaflet to say that this was a side effect - my doctor was not aware of this."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Garbage. It takes it away for a little while, and right back again it comes. I've been going through this for 15 years now. As far as I'm concerned, this medicine causes it to reoccur, which I feel like the government and pharmaceuticals purposely did to make MONEY."
