Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "Redness took over my entire face. REDNESS EVERYWHERE. Missed diagnosis and had used 5 different antibiotic creams and it was spreading. Kept me up feeling like I wanted to sink my nails into my face to find relief. That morning I try a different doctor who immediately says ACNE Rosacea. He gives me MetroGel 0.75%. Day 1 - No Redness and a change/Itching@50%. Day 2 - No Redness Change/Itching cut 50%. Day 3 Signs Redness Change. Day 4/5. Itching/Burning GONE. Redness down 25%. Day 6/7. Redness down 50% (skin was healing). 7/8 HUGE 80% redness gone. Sitting Now at day 11. My Redness is gone. (Expensive though) Drink lots of water. #3. A little bit goes a long way with this gel, what I can attest to is I didn't need any more than 2x/day and VERY little of this stuff. Just put a TINY drop on your finger and rub that in. It may not feel like you have all of the spot, but trust me, it gets in there. It did for me and mine was a very bad case."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I had been dealing with a yeast infection for 3 months. I went to the doctor because I was still having symptoms after using Terconazole and was told I was yeast-free but have BV. I started the medication yesterday, the only symptom I got after inserting the MetroGel was some mild burning. No leaking during the night or throughout the day, but I did start to notice some white, cottage cheese-like discharge. I’m on night two, and this time I didn’t feel burning after inserting the medication. I’m currently taking a probiotic in the morning and evening, as well as having yogurt daily since I’ve read many people have gotten a yeast infection after using this medication. Fingers crossed this medication works for me and I finally have an end to what feels like never-ending symptoms! I will come back to update once I finish the medication. Hugs to everyone dealing with issues down there!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I used MetroGel for 5 nights. It worked great. The itching and burning were relieved the very first night I took it. I did have to do a sixth dose two nights after the fifth night because the symptoms came back slightly, but since then, I have been fine. That was a week ago, and since then, no problems at all. The only home remedies I had tried were probiotics, folic acid, vitamin D, and vitamin C. I also ate a lot of plain yogurt. I think the vitamins and yogurt worked to give temporary relief, but ultimately it was the MetroGel that did the trick. Crossing my fingers I don't have a relapse. I decided to use the gel and not the pills so the drugs don't have to go through your whole body. The gel just attacks the problem at the source."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I never had a pimple in my life, I could literally put any cream on my face. I'd be fine. I didn't need much makeup either, my face was super clear and glowing until 2 years ago when, for no reason, I developed a strange rash. Burning and itching was terrible. I thought it might be some allergic reaction to cosmetics, and after hundreds of dollars spent on different creams, I finally went to a doctor, and he diagnosed me with rosacea. He prescribed the cream, not the gel. At first, I was skeptical because I didn't know how I would manage not to use a daily moisturizer, but then this cream works as a moisturizer too, I literally didn't need anything else. Two weeks after, my face cleared up. Yes, the cream is expensive, but you only need a tiny amount, so it can literally last for months, it was so worth it. I'm still on it. I'm due to stop using it in a month, so I'll see how I go without it-fingers crossed. At least I know now how it works. This cream was a savior, I strongly recommend it!"

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I had flushing rosacea for years before it was diagnosed. Then I spent years trying one medication after another to control it, but due to side effects, I could not take them. About 2 years ago, I was prescribed MetroGel. It has changed my life. The persistent flushing and burning are almost completely gone. I still wear sunscreen and a hat when outside, but now I can read at night and watch TV with the lights on."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "My rosacea creates a very red face and affects my eyes, i.e., swelling. It affected my career as a teacher because diagnosis was a long time coming. I was finally prescribed MetroGel, and after a while, it significantly reduced the redness and swelling. However, it has suddenly stopped working and actually creates more redness, and my face burns really badly on application. Back to square one!"

For Rosacea "Nope, nope, nope. Metronidazole barely helps the bumps of rosacea, and I can’t use it even once a week, or it burns and really makes the redness worse. I think this cream actually permanently spread my rosacea somehow. Terrible, and I don’t know how this is still on the market."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "My doctor took several vaginal samples and tested for yeast, all STDs, and bacteria. The only thing that was positive was G. Gardnerella, which is bacteria. She gave me Flagyl 500 mg daily for 7 days and told me to use MetroGel 2x a week for 4-6 months. Still not better and just finished 5 weeks of the gel, which is 10 doses. I have zero odor, never had any, but my discharge is like acid. My skin around the vaginal opening is extremely red, and it burns, and sometimes I itch. I'm majorly frustrated. I have used Desitin and Vaseline to try and keep the discharge from burning me so bad (doc's suggestion), but those tend to make me worse! I'm truly so depressed, I just don't feel like this is ever going to go away. No sex for 5 months now."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I was due for a Pap smear, and after a couple of weeks, my physician's office called me advising I had an overgrowth of bacteria in my vagina. I couldn't understand that as I never complained of any itching, odor, or smell, I just went in for a Pap smear. After 5 days of administering this gel, I developed severe pain when I urinate. I called my physician, and I was told to drink cranberry juice and take the cranberry supplement by AZO, this didn't work. Now I'm taking an antibiotic, Ciprofloxacin HCl 500 mg for 10 days, twice a day, which caused intense itching. Thursday is the last day for pills, and then I take the 1-day pill Fluconazole tablet 150 mg. What a horrific experience with the gel, it burns my clitoris."

For Rosacea "I have found the gel to be extremely helpful (more so than the cream). It does take continuous use for me, but it's worth the relief. I also use it on my ears for relief from flushing/burning sensation. Having the rosacea under control has also helped tremendously with my dry skin."

For Rosacea "Started using the metronidazole gel, but little bumps and redness had no change. My skin just got progressively drier. I stopped using it after 9 weeks and was supposed to have a follow-up with my dermatologist that had to get moved back a month. Now my whole face burns and is peeling, my rosacea is at its all-time worst."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I went to the doctor about a couple of small but persistent blemishes on my face. I was prescribed Rozex, which is an expensive product: $50 for a small tube. I applied it on my face. The next day, I had broken out in disgusting red, oily lumps all over my face. They burn and are extremely uncomfortable. I look in the mirror and can’t believe what I’m seeing. I’m a 41-year-old male, and I’ve never had anything like this happen to me. I'm going to see another doctor today to find out what’s going on. Terrible, terrible product."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "For the last 6 months, I've been fighting BV that would not go away. I've been on 2 lots of antibiotics in pill form, metronidazole, that were disgusting to take and swallow, and that didn't do anything. I felt horrible when being on these, they seemed to make my symptoms worse. I had tests done and would always come back positive for BV. Finally, I went to a Gyno that listened, he prescribed me Metrogel instead of pill form, and I would always ask them for a Diflucan pill to take at the end of the course to stop a yeast infection, which it did. So, I've been on the Metrogel now for 4 days, which I was told to use twice a day for 5 days, and my symptoms of burning and itching went away on the second day. I've also had no bad side effects. By using this gel, you do get a white clumpy discharge, but that should go away when the course is finished. This is the best I've felt in 6 months and would definitely use again if needed."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This cream made my rosacea 100% worse. It actually caused my face to burn, itch, and was very painful. I had to apply cold compresses to my face to relieve the pain. My dermatologist told me to stop using it and prescribed Triamcinolone ointment. This ointment took away the pain and some of the itching, and caused the red and purple bumps to flatten out. I'm still in the middle of a terrible flare-up. I am also taking Doxycycline 100 mg once daily. I think I am allergic to this cream."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Tried this gel for 1 night thinking it would have fewer side effects than in pill form. But I had a very bad experience. Within half an hour of using, my legs felt as if they were on fire, mainly from my knees to feet. Got worse with aching, shooting pains up and down my legs. My head felt funny, but no headache. All night I barely slept because of the severity of the pain. The hotness did lessen, still had painful legs until mid-morning, but it had spread to the rest of my body - a dull ache as if I had the flu. Had a slight blocked nose till morning as well. Felt slightly nauseous. Was itchy too, all over. Felt spaced out. Suffered memory loss in the day before all went away. Will not take again as I am allergic to antibiotics, so it is probably just me. BV did feel a bit better though."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "When I first put it on my face, it immediately felt a lot better. There wasn't any burning anymore, which I was happy about, but now that I'm continuing to use it, it's been not effective in clearing my rosacea up. (Yes, I know rosacea will never fully go away, but still.) It's still as red as it was before."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Awful medication. I had absolutely 0 symptoms of BV, but it came up in my pap during my physical. My doctor started me on the pill and I could hardly make it 1.5 days. Wasn't able to focus, felt drunk, nausea, extreme fatigue, ear congestion, and so on. I quit taking it immediately. My doctor then prescribed the topical gel, which I believe was a huge mistake, as it caused extreme and intense burning on the outside of my vagina. Then onto the vaginal gel insertion. I had to do 2 awful rounds of this. Worst cramps, nausea, and fatigue I've ever experienced. Bloating was so uncomfortable, I could hardly wear some of my clothes. It's been 3 weeks since I've been off the medication now, and I've still had waves of side effects. My gut bacteria and vaginal pH are completely out of whack. All I want to do is sleep, my migraines have intensified, and bloating is still an issue. Do not take this medicine, especially if you didn't have symptoms of BV to begin with!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Have been using the actual gel for two days, and I'm fine. A little burning and mild diarrhea at most, but that is it. I followed the directions, if you follow the directions, you should be fine. It clearly states not to have sex while using the medication."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have been suffering with burning that I would rate at its worst a 10. I have been to the doctor 9 times in the last 4 months for the same symptoms and prescribed several creams, hormonal creams, etc. (I believe it caused the BV). I told anyone who would listen to me that I had an infection. I was told it was menopause and I would be fine. Finally, and happily diagnosed with BV. Took a round of Metrogel for 5 nights, and 48 hours later symptoms returned. Again, diagnosed with BV. I am now on my 2nd dose of 5 nights. For me, it's difficult to say if the Metrogel is causing the burning or because it is an antibiotic, may cause burning in the vulva/vaginal area but should subside. After this round, if it should return, my gynecologist suggested that I try (sounds weird) Boric Acid Suppositories. The Dr. said it is a natural product and has proven to put the vaginal pH balance back and cure it. I wanted to share this in case it is the simple cure."

For Rosacea "Recently been diagnosed with possible rosacea on my cheeks, chin, and forehead. My face usually has an eczema flare-up a week before my period, but I suffered with this condition, building up for the last 3 months. My face was bright red, and I mean bright. I couldn't get away with not wearing makeup without people thinking my face had been burnt in a fire! Along with swelling of the eyes, very dry, tight skin that makes my face look even worse, and a huge swelling under my right eye just above the cheekbone. Was given a week course of antibiotic tablets along with the metronidazole gel. Within less than 12 hours, the redness has started to subside, and swelling is going down. I'm now on day 2, and redness has gone, and swelling under my right eye is almost back to normal. I had no stinging (apart from forehead after initial application), no burning, nothing but my skin on my face peels terribly after use, so I have reduced it to one application as opposed to 2. Supplied on the NHS, God bless her!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’ve had BV now for 4 months. It keeps coming back - I’ve taken Flagyl pills (14 tablets, on a 7-day course at 1 tablet twice a dose), and I've done this 4 separate times, and it clears and comes right back. I’ve tried doxycycline hyclate, also another antibiotic, and that seemed to really work, but it’s back again, and now I’m on Metrogel for 6 months :-( sad to say, BV is so awful - now my gyno wants to check if something else may be wrong & nothing was wrong with me up until this crazy BV that won’t go away - she said also my good bacteria is completely stripped, and I need to rebuild bacteria because of all the antibiotics I’ve taken, which makes sense. I’ve tried so much & it is so frustrating - I itch, I burn so bad when I pee - I have no STDs. I just do not get it - & I’ve even tried boric acid, and it just made me break out in hives and have a lil blood come out."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Ouchhhh. I was prescribed this for BV. I put the gel in and immediately had cramping similar to a period and a little burning. After the second night, I woke up and the outside of my vagina was raw and it itched. It gave me a yeast infection. I stopped using it. I refuse to use this ever again. Seems like it made it worse."

For Rosacea "At 63, I saw a dermatologist in November of 2017 to check for skin cancer (found a precancerous spot). My face and ears get really red at times. I was told I also have rosacea. After doing some research, I now know that certain foods, heat, alcohol, among other things, trigger the redness. I was prescribed metronidazole topical and told to use it 2x daily. I also purchased Avene gentle cleanser and other products to help my condition. I have been pretty faithful in using these. I am also trying to watch what I eat or drink. At first, this cream seemed to burn. It has gotten better. I am not getting as red as often. However, my cheeks are almost always pink. I went to the dermatologist for a follow-up this week. I was advised to continue to use metronidazole. I am giving it more time and hoping that this works."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I used the MetroGel vag gel for 5 nights as instructed. The smell went away for like a day or 2, but the discharge remained with its abnormal color (brownish). After having sex with my boyfriend, 2 nights after using the gel, the smell came back even worse. I was bloated and had awful pain and burning sensation in my lower abdomen. I honestly don't trust that this gel works. Instead, I feel like it just made things even worse because I noticed there was some bleeding coming out as well."
