Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I saw an advert for this gel and decided to try it for my mild redness and flushing rosacea. This product has caused my skin to react in a horrible fashion. My nose has become red and swollen with enlarged pores. Not only this, but I am starting to develop little 'warty' lumps on the fleshy part of my nose and adjoining cheek areas. I have discontinued using the Rozex gel and am using a soothing moisturizer in the hope that it will settle down. Can anyone recommend another product that will not have the same side effects?"

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I have had MetroCream (or the generic equivalent) prescribed for many years for my mild rosacea (a classic presentation common to many people of northern and British Isles ancestry): on the nose and on small diagonal lines on cheeks running away from the top of the nose. I just put a very tiny amount of the cream (a fifth or a tenth the size of a drop of water from a slowly dripping faucet) on my nose and on the small area of my cheeks. I am male and do not use any cosmetics. The cream makes the mild rosacea disappear if I use it twice every day. If I forget to use it, some redness reappears on my nose or cheek within days. I do avoid having more than a small bite of pastries, which aggravate the rosacea, but the cream helps considerably even when I eat a pastry - so long as I take it faithfully."

For Rosacea "Nope, nope, nope. Metronidazole barely helps the bumps of rosacea, and I can’t use it even once a week, or it burns and really makes the redness worse. I think this cream actually permanently spread my rosacea somehow. Terrible, and I don’t know how this is still on the market."

For Rosacea "After nine years of no flare-ups, I suddenly found myself with red cheeks and pustules. I decided to consult a dermatologist who prescribed me sulfa cleanse and a very low dose antibiotic. Within several days, my face was extremely red, raw, and full of large, painful pustules. Heartbroken, I decided to see my regular doctor, and he prescribed me metro gel and a stronger antibiotic. I saw results instantly. From one day to the next, my redness and inflammation went down to the point that I noticed it. Now, only five days later, my face is back to normal. I am amazed at how fast the metro gel, combined with the right antibiotics, cleared my face up. I am forever grateful to my doctor and metro gel for helping me smile again."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I have found that this cream improved my face redness, I only use it when I need to. I was told I had rosacea about 10 years ago after having relatively clear skin. I was about 60 years old and couldn't understand why I got pimples on my face. I probably should persevere more and use it for a longer period of time, as the rash returns, especially after I have eaten dark chocolate (which I love) or cheap chocolate. I find that the more expensive chocolate, like Lindt or Aldi chocs, aren't as bad. I think sugary food makes it break out. I try to avoid these products."

For Rosacea "Have been using Metrocream for a week now, and my rosacea is much worse than prior to using the cream. I had only redness, but within days of using, I had a flare-up and got bumps which got progressively worse and spread. I tried putting a bit of Metrocream on a section of skin with no rosacea, and within days had redness and a rash pop up. It may be an allergic reaction, but either way, I'm trashing Metrocream and seeking out more natural remedies and solutions."

For Rosacea "I had mild rosacea when I started using Metrocream 0.75%. It made me break out extremely badly all over my cheeks and nose. I think it clogged my pores, making the redness and rosacea much worse. Very disappointed in the setback it gave me."

For Rosacea "I had serious rosacea that I allowed to go undiagnosed/untreated for years. Until the point it affected my eyes, and then I knew I had to do something. I have been using this cream for 5 days now, in addition to a sulfa wash, doxycycline daily, and CeraVe moisturizer. The results are slow (but my case was extreme, so keep that in mind), but I'm starting to notice improvements in the texture of my skin as well as decreased redness and swelling. I use it 2 times daily. My advice is to be patient with it. Don't expect overnight results, but I think you will be pleased after strict continued use within a week or so."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This is a follow-up from my comment on 2019-09-10. Once I stopped MetroGel, my face flared right back up. It's important people understand (like I didn't) before going on this. This FIXES the problem. If you're like me, this seems to be what has helped me on post-flare-up after MetroGel. (Face so dry) Keep looking, find a natural moisturizer and an oil. You need to create an artificial moisture barrier, I don't have one. EXFOLIATE once a week. Get all that dead skin off your face, along with any leftover moisturizer/oil. Immediately after drying your face, use oils and moisturizer. Water dries out my face. Why I only do it once a week. Avoid super hot showers. Another big thing for me was shampoo. In showers, the shampoo rinses off, comes in contact with my forehead, which causes INSTANT redness. Find a natural shampoo that works. These things will cost a bit. A good moisturizer will set you back $40 or so. Oils maybe $10. Along with shampoo at $12. Still way better than $220 for prescription meds that only help the problem once it's all over your face. Work on prevention."

For Rosacea "Initially had a good response to the gel, but 10 days after starting it, I looked like I had a mild sunburn. I then started getting multiple finger joint swelling with swelling, redness, and pain, and then gastric problems. Obviously having side effects. Back to neomycin cream!"

For Rosacea "I found the Rozex cream worked better, and I didn't get any dry, flaking skin or redness like I did with the gel. Used daily (with sunblock) when I have a flare-up, the cream works excellently. You do have to persist until the flare-up has gone, though. I rate Rozex cream 10/10."

For Rosacea "I am 43 and noticed a change in my face after my second baby. After breastfeeding, I was finally excited to see a dermatologist. Immediately, I was told it was rosacea. She prescribed doxycycline and Metro gel. Within days, I saw improvements, but at my 60-day appointment, I still looked red. She told me to continue and return in 60 days. I am nearing my appointment with no acne but redness and a slight scarring complexion. My cheeks, nose, and chin get really red from heat or spicy foods, I've noticed. I don't really feel like the Metro gel is helping much because I always wear a little redness nowadays."

For Rosacea "For the last year, I've had rosacea mostly on the tip of my nose. I'm 42, and prior to this, I've had basically flawless skin. The tip of my nose became red, flaky, and extremely oily, it was an extremely stressful time. I tried everything natural, and nothing worked. I tried the gel, and even the first day, I noticed a slight improvement and way less oiliness in the morning. The second day was even better. I'm on the third day, and already the redness is starting to fade."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I've suffered from rosacea since my mid-20s. I'm 31 now. Sometimes I think the cream is useless, but if I don't use it for a few days, my skin gets rapidly much worse. After around 2 days of using it, it settled again. You have to use this every day, twice daily, without fail if you want good relief. It reduces redness and dryness, but it won't cure the condition."

For Rosacea "Didn't help with rosacea at all. Eyebrows broke out worse and continued to get worse with the use of Metrogel. It made the itching more intense, redness more intense, and bigger flakes. That was barely a week of use. Went back to the hydrocortisone just to get relief."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "I am using the cream. Worked great for me. Googled it when the doctor put me on it, and reviews said the condition would look worse before it got better. I never had acne even as a teenager, but my face was full of small pus-filled spots. That has all disappeared, still redness in the affected area but nothing like it was. Would highly recommend."
