Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "This medication MetroGel-vag worked better than I expected, based on some other reviews. The smell was gone by day 3 of the 5-day treatment. I am about 2 weeks post-treatment and am BV free. I avoided using it for a month or so due to the side effect horror stories (vomiting, headache, pain, yeast infection, etc.). However, I had nearly 0 effects. The only side effects I experienced were discharge and cramping similar to period cramps, which was worth it to me to get rid of the embarrassing BV symptoms."

Metronidazole topical for Rosacea "This cream made my rosacea 100% worse. It actually caused my face to burn, itch, and was very painful. I had to apply cold compresses to my face to relieve the pain. My dermatologist told me to stop using it and prescribed Triamcinolone ointment. This ointment took away the pain and some of the itching, and caused the red and purple bumps to flatten out. I'm still in the middle of a terrible flare-up. I am also taking Doxycycline 100 mg once daily. I think I am allergic to this cream."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Tried this gel for 1 night thinking it would have fewer side effects than in pill form. But I had a very bad experience. Within half an hour of using, my legs felt as if they were on fire, mainly from my knees to feet. Got worse with aching, shooting pains up and down my legs. My head felt funny, but no headache. All night I barely slept because of the severity of the pain. The hotness did lessen, still had painful legs until mid-morning, but it had spread to the rest of my body - a dull ache as if I had the flu. Had a slight blocked nose till morning as well. Felt slightly nauseous. Was itchy too, all over. Felt spaced out. Suffered memory loss in the day before all went away. Will not take again as I am allergic to antibiotics, so it is probably just me. BV did feel a bit better though."

For Rosacea "Initially had a good response to the gel, but 10 days after starting it, I looked like I had a mild sunburn. I then started getting multiple finger joint swelling with swelling, redness, and pain, and then gastric problems. Obviously having side effects. Back to neomycin cream!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was diagnosed with BV and recently prescribed metronidazole gel. After just 1 application, I became extremely sick! Started with extreme bloating and nausea, and dizziness during the day... by the end of the night, I had started coughing and having a sore throat. Did not sleep the entire night, was coughing violently all night into the next day, all day and night again the next. The second night, (I had already stopped the medicine the night before) I had excruciating body pain, the shakes, and extreme hot and cold flashes. Took all I had not to rush myself to the hospital! Literally thought I was going to die... I had never been so extremely hot before in my life! Needless to say, I beg of anyone DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE!!!! SO not worth it... terrifying experience!"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Have BV Gardnerella and used the gel for 3 nights out of a 5-day prescription. Today I am experiencing extreme breast pain on both sides. Previous nights it caused pelvic pain briefly after application. I will not complete the dosage with this much pain. It did eliminate the odor. I have not been diagnosed with BV in previous years and hope it will not cause a yeast infection."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "NEVER AGAIN. This metronidazole vaginal gel legit made me think I had some terrible other infection altogether. The first night I used it was fine. I was hopeful. The second day I woke up, and my lady parts were on fire. I also had the nasty cottage cheesy discharge, but that part was fine. I appreciated knowing it was working, but man, did it hurt. I did the second dose thinking I would adjust, and nope. I ended up in bed all day crying. I had to call the doctor back and get Clindamycin. I do not ever recommend the oral metronidazole either. The side effects are a nightmare. I’m currently on day one of this new med (clindo), and I already feel way better. BV is terrible, but this drug made it a million times worse."

Metronidazole topical "I had such a bad infection for 4+ months. It was painful, embarrassing, and was inhibiting me. I had to obsess over hygiene, and it was giving me such bad anxiety. I used this for 10 days internally as my doctor prescribed, and it was pretty hard on me. I felt like rubbish before bed, I lost some weight from lack of appetite, generally feeling unwell. That said, it worked. It’s been two days since my last dose, and I do not have the symptoms I had prior to taking it. I hope they don’t come back. I do not plan to be sexually active for a little while and continue taking probiotics, though."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I used the MetroGel vag gel for 5 nights as instructed. The smell went away for like a day or 2, but the discharge remained with its abnormal color (brownish). After having sex with my boyfriend, 2 nights after using the gel, the smell came back even worse. I was bloated and had awful pain and burning sensation in my lower abdomen. I honestly don't trust that this gel works. Instead, I feel like it just made things even worse because I noticed there was some bleeding coming out as well."
