Methylphenidate for ADHD "I have been taking Concerta for ADHD about 3 months now. The effects have been both positive and negative. I started off with 36 mg, and my grades were increasing rapidly, and I was more focused, but I started to become more antisocial, angry, I didn't have an appetite, I had sleeping problems, and depression. Then, about two weeks ago, I switched to 54 mg due to lack of focus, and my stomach has been troubling me. I'm having twitching problems, and I am hearing voices."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "My son was prescribed the drug just before summer. It worked great at the beginning, but now since school has started, the drug is not working. He is very moody, impulsive, short-tempered, sad, and depressed. This is not my son. I also have a friend whose son is also on it and is doing great. It may be worth a try, just watch for the side effects."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "My experience with Concerta was unbelievable. I started getting hostile with everyone, banging things, flipping things, and throwing things. I had to have the police and EMT come take me to the hospital."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "I was prescribed this by my doctor, and it was terrible. I stopped taking it after 5 days because my doctor told me to. It made me angry all the time. It did not help my concentration. Also, 3 days after taking it, I still have shortness of breath, my heart is still beating hard, and the left part of my chest has immense pressure on it. I'm never taking this stuff again. Trust me, nobody needs it."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "Thinking that there has been a misdiagnosis, as Ritalin had the opposite of that promised. Violence, aggressive tendencies, and amplified mood swings, far worse than before. When not screeching, behavior was 'loopy,' super-happy, and still unfocused. Ceased 4 weeks into a 6-week trial - by necessity."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "I don't feel right, I can't focus, I don't want to work out, which I love to do. I don't want to drum, which I love doing too. I felt great on Biphentin, despite the anger. I tried Concerta for a day and hated it."

For ADHD "My son is 11 years old. This is his first time ever taking medication. He was getting into trouble every day. My phone was ringing nonstop. I was disciplining him all day. On the daily, my son was not able to sit in one spot. He would roll on the floor, damaging his pants and damaging his shoes from not being able to sit for longer than one minute. My son also would get so angry with his sisters and teachers that he would be harmful to himself. It led me to lock the knives into the pantry. 12.6.2019 was the first dose of methylphenidate my son had taken, starting with the lowest dose. I saw an immediate change. I was scared. I kept him home for observation, a bad idea because he needed to burn energy. His chore list that he could never complete, he was able to complete within seconds. All missing homework was completed with 100. I am only going to use the medicine for school days."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "The first day on Concerta was amazing. I was able to focus more on my homework and felt happy and full of energy. After the first day, it still worked, but just not as much in terms of focusing on homework. But now I am starting to notice that the comedowns are really bad, just feelings of depression and unhappiness, and it doesn't work as well as it did the first day with focusing on homework. It also causes me to hyper-focus on things even when they cause me anger or distress. I don't think this is the medication for me, but I would recommend giving it a go if recommended by your psychiatrist."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "We had tried the patch when our son was 5 1/2 years old. We have tried many stimulant medications that do not last the amount of time it states it should, so we tried Daytrana. This was not for us. My son was out of control, increased aggression, impulsivity, and couldn't sit still to save his life. My son does deal with other mental health disorders such as SPD, ODD, ADHD, GAD, and a mood disorder. We are currently on Focalin XR 15 mg in the morning and 10 mg XR about 12 pm. Focalin has been the best we found, but still, I think it causes his other diagnoses to shine through a bit more."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "My son has been on this medicine for 8 years. I sometimes have to go to the ends of the earth to get it, but it changed our lives. We tried Focalin when he was small, and it made him moody and angry. A friend's son used this med, and we tried it and have never gone back. I wish they made a 40mg patch because insurance will not pay for two boxes, and sometimes we need a higher dose. 30mg is as high as it goes, and it can be very hard to get as there have been recalls, and it's just not something pharmacies have sitting on the shelf. This medicine has been a Godsend to us."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "Flattening out the dosage peaks as these occur with Ritalin is a pleasant experience, reducing fatigue and also the moments per day being confronted with a chronic condition. Most notable side effect was extreme agitation, forcing me to quit the usage."

Methylphenidate for ADHD "The only reason I gave Concerta a 2 and not a 0 was because when I didn't take it for two days, I could feel myself going through withdrawal. I would begin to feel tired, annoyed, and angered easily, some headaches, and so on. I have been on Concerta for about 13 years, and even with it in my system, I still struggled in school. At first, they had me on smaller doses, but they had to be increased. I've been taking 108 mg each morning, and the only thing that I have noticed a difference in is the withdrawal I go through, which can be helped by drinking coffee. By the way, I'm currently on the drug right now, and I'm supposed to be studying for my Spanish exam that I have this afternoon. So if that doesn't tell you something, then idk what will."

For ADHD "My son is six and struggled for some time with ADHD, although he’s bright and gifted. However, once he began school, the problems started right away. Jornay PM XR felt like that amazing pill that my little man needed; but soon after, about two months, he started acting out violently, punching, mood swings, emotional, and even had penis erections! I took the time to read the side effects of Jornay and found, in small tiny writing of course, that this is a normal but “abnormal” side effect that should be looked into immediately. To say the least, I will be discontinuing this medication. There is no reason why my six-year-old should be self-pleasuring himself on an ADHD medication-it's absolutely crazy, and I just wanted to advise all parents to be watchful and forewarned prior to giving their child this medication."
