For Opiate Withdrawal "So, so happy I researched my area and found a methadone clinic. The weekly amount you pay to receive your daily dose is far less than what you would be spending elsewhere! Methadone did give me my life back. It only took about two months of it being in my system for me to feel as if I could start functioning again as a normal person, get up, go to work, cook dinner, clean, then actually be able to sleep and do it again the next day. Thank you to those who do see people are trying to do the right thing and get sober!"

For Chronic Pain "I have to say... the best thing for me. I've been on most kinds of pain medication because of back surgery, and methadone has saved my life. I take 80 mg a day. The government is making it harder to get, the pharmacy doesn't want to fill large amounts. I don't get high on the drug, but it helps tremendously with chronic pain. I am 68 years old and a liver transplant recipient. Been on it for 6 years. Constipation isn't a problem for me, it may have been at first, but my body has adjusted. Much better than morphine, dilaudid, or oxycontin. And cheaper by far."

For Pain "I broke my neck at cervical levels C-5, 6, & 7 in 1994. I had tried everything (RX's) from codeine to fentanyl patch to everything else associated with chronic pain and nerve damage. Morphine made me sick ever so often, but when I started on a methadone pain RX program, I was relieved from many of the severe, chronic, and constant pain symptoms. It has been an excellent pain relief prescription for my condition since 1995. I hope that anyone who has severe, chronic, and constant pain symptoms try it."

For Chronic Pain "I was diagnosed with arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic hip pain along with a severe case of plantar fasciitis (the least of my problems) when I was about a month pregnant. I came clean with my new Dr, telling him I had been self-medicating with pain medicines since I was 14 and in a car accident. No Dr would help me because I was so young. Well, not this time. My Dr realized that if he didn't find some way to help me it could be bad, so he instantly prescribed me methadone. It was safe in pregnancy with the right dose... it was a Godsend. My quality of life was back to 100%, it even helps with depression, I believe. Best pain medicine I have ever been given."

For Chronic Pain "I find this to be the best and most affordable pain medicine on the market. I live with chronic pain from four abdominal surgeries for endometriosis and several broken/shattered bones in my wrist and foot since I have osteoporosis, as well as a torn rotator cuff injury now. I take 2-3 of the 10 mg tablets a day, which makes me a little tired some days and causes problems with constipation since I have loads of adhesions from stomach surgeries. That adds to the constipation, too, but I can live a normal life now, and I thank God that my doctor prescribes it for my pain, as some doctors would rather have me take eight Percocets a day or have more surgery, and they don't help half as much as the 2-3 methadone tablets I take as needed. They are also so cheap in price compared to other drugs."

For Pain "I have been on methadone for 9 years for chronic pain. I have Crohn's disease, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, and 3 blown discs in my back. I have had over a dozen surgeries including a Whipple procedure, bowel resections, back surgeries, etc. I was on so much fentanyl and dilapidated that most of the time I didn't know if I was coming or going, I was a mess. Methadone gave me my life back. No feeling high or confused. I can actually function. A great medicine for chronic pain. I now take 40 mg 3 times a day, down from 60 mg 3 times a day. I take no other pain meds."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was very afraid to try methadone to detox from opiates at first, but thank God I went ahead and did. I love waking up, taking a dose, and spending the rest of my day doing positive things. No more cravings for oxy's, spending every penny I had looking all day for yet another pill. I feel like there is hope now. If you are living the life of a pill addict, methadone may be for you."

For Chronic Pain "Diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis 5 years ago. Tried every narcotic, or non-narcotic and never found relief. Naturally became addicted and took a year coming off of 100 microgram fentanyl patches (3 every 24 hours plus OxyContin 80 as breakthrough) when I got low enough. I took Suboxone to ease my withdrawals. Suboxone worked awesome and I stayed on 20 mg a day for two years, but the analgesic effect of Suboxone is low, and I switched to methadone last August. I love the incredible half-life of methadone and its analgesic effects are great for chronic pain. I recommend this to anyone fighting the pain management battle."

For Chronic Pain "I have not been on methadone for a great amount of time, but I have been on it long enough to find that the pain-free result is not worth the life-ruining effects it's having on me. I have no life because of this drug. It makes me so tired, lethargic, and just useless! I can't work anymore, I can't maintain most social relationships anymore, and I am so isolated and lonely now, which is having serious deteriorating effects on my mental health condition! I have never hated another drug more than this one. I know that for some people, it has changed their lives for the better, and I'm really happy for these people! I just think that people need to know that there is a real nasty side to methadone too for some of us. Cheers."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "I was on opiate pain medications for 15 years for degenerative disc disease. Because of insurance, my oxycodone 30 mg and fentanyl 50 mcg patches were cut off. I panicked, what was I going to do for pain and withdrawal?!? Suboxone never worked for me in the past, it just made me sicker. HOWEVER!! I found methadone (Methadose is the liquid concentrate solution of methadone). It has literally changed my entire perception of pain meds. It controls my pain, keeps me from being sick, and it makes me not crave other opiates. I have more energy now than before and consider this drug a miracle."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been in and out of methadone treatment for the past 4 years, but I can say it does work if you taper slowly and try not to go too high in dose. I have successfully tapered from 80 mgs down to 2 mgs and was able to stop withdrawal-free, so tapering does work. The important thing is to not start using again when you get to lower doses because you will get high again, and you will relapse. At high doses, methadone blocks other opiates, so you won't get high, and there is no point. But as you get lower, you will be able to get high, so just don't use and you will be withdrawal-free."

For Chronic Pain "I broke my back over 15 years ago. I went from Darvocet to morphine. Everything that I tried lasted for short periods of time. Finally, after almost ten years, I found methadone. I feel that I am no longer trapped inside my body. I feel like I've been given my life back. I'm no longer at risk of damaging my body from the side effects of the previous meds. I take it once daily, and it works wonders. I feel like a new person. I finally feel normal again."

Methadone for Chronic Pain "I have been on so many other pain meds that made me sick, and yes it was the one Dr. who cared about someone's pain that helped prescribe it to me. Methadone is great because it's the first thing I take and the last thing I take in a day, so I can have life without so much pain."

For Chronic Pain "Been taking low dose (<= 10 mg/day) for 10+ years for fibromyalgia pain as needed. It works wonders. I am not addicted (some weeks I don't take any), but I am dependent on this medication as I am dependent upon Lyrica and my hypertension meds. Big Pharma dislikes this medication because it is both inexpensive and effective. They have been putting on a smear campaign on methadone, and our government's bowing to Big Pharma and interfering with the distribution of methadone on their behalf is a solid indicator of just how corrupt the USA has become."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was a heavy opiate and heroin user from my teenage years until my 30s. After trying many inpatient and outpatient programs, I still couldn't stop using heroin. It got to the point my veins were useless, and I was wasting dope trying to put it in myself, so I tried the methadone program. At first, I was still using heroin with the methadone, but after awhile, I was able to let the heroin go. I have now been on 125 mg of methadone for 30 years. It has turned my life around. I started my own business. I raised a son, and I'm able to save money instead of being broke all the time. I doubt I'll ever get off the methadone, but that's okay. It hasn't caused me any physical or mental problems at all."

For Pain "I have severe recurring headaches which have plagued me since I suffered a head injury as a child. I tried almost everything under the sun to stop the pain, and nothing seemed to work very well. Some of these medicines almost put me 6 feet under as well! I had a severe cardiac reaction to sumatriptan, and the worst part was that triptans don't do anything for my headaches as far as relieving them. Some of the opiates I tried did work to varying degrees, but finally my doctor switched me over from Soma and 60mg codeine sulfate tabs, with 4mg Dilaudid tabs for breakthrough pain, to 10 mg methadone, 2 tablets, 3 times daily coupled with 10mg cyclobenzaprine tablets (Flexeril) 3 times daily. It works quite well without any side effects to speak of."

Methadone for Pain "This is the VERY best pain medicine I have tried. I had so many issues finding a doc to help with my pain, and they never gave enough to totally control the pain, so I was constantly going out finding supplements to add to my scripted pain medicines. Ever since methadone, I have needed nothing except some morphine for breakthrough pain."

For Chronic Pain "I am prescribed 1-2 (10mg) tabs of Methadone, up to 6 times every 24 hours. On the 'good' days, I take a lower dose (like 3 (10mg) tabs in 24 hours) with pretty much complete relief & on the 'worst' of days, the max dose (12 (10mg) tabs in 24 hours) makes doing the everyday 'necessities' actually possible. The biggest negative I've experienced while on this medicine is a MAJOR WEIGHT GAIN of around 1-2 lbs a WEEK (So like 40 lbs in 6 months, before I started working out & dieting to compensate)! Also, this medication has COMPLETELY STOPPED my menstrual cycle! However, with these downsides, I'd still strongly suggest this medicine for those with chronic severe back pain!"

For Pain "I have been in chronic pain from a rare spinal muscular disorder for 11 years. For 6 years, I took all kinds of pain relievers and still suffered greatly and almost to the point of losing my mind. Finally, I was put on methadone and it has relieved my pain far better than anything else. But I'm afraid the FDA is going to stop usage of it for pain. My doctor told me that we needed to write our congressman and tell how much we really need it."

For Chronic Pain "Not sure why most of you taking this drug are having a problem getting it. I have nonremissive rheumatoid arthritis, and the doctors in this field do not appear to be bound by the restraints or hang-ups that others have. I hope that this gives you hope, as this is a great drug for pain that lasts a long time."

For Pain "It's a great drug for pain. I have been on every pain med out there, and this has by far been the best. For you people who say, 'I took 2 tabs about 90 mins apart. Did not sleep a wink all night. I will discontinue taking this medicine.' and things like that. You need to give it more than a day or even a month to work itself into your system. Give it time."

For Chronic Pain "I've been taking this medicine for almost 4 years and I have had some horrible experiences and side effects, almost all of them. But there is one that's not listed: my teeth, all of them are breaking off to the gum line. I wear a permanent bridge, and the teeth that the bridge is bonded to have broken off. Now I have one tooth holding on to a four-teeth bridge, and I have so much bone loss that all of my teeth are so loose that I could probably pull them out with my fingers. I don't see anything about this medicine in the list of side effects about it eating up the enamel and bone in your mouth. Does anyone know or have experienced the same problem, and if there is a class action lawsuit about methadone? Thank you."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I’m 50 years old now. I’m in the MMT program now for close to 5 years. The first two years I still used, but not every day. I finally stopped using heroin now for a few years. I got my methadone dose up to 110 mg. I’ve been doing a slow taper for the last 9 months down to 70 mg now. I’m trying to stay positive and not worry about how long it takes me to be 100% clean. If it took 2 or 3 more years, then so be it. Methadone saved my life, no doubt. I would be lying if I said I didn’t love heroin, but no one can live successfully on dope. I tried it, it never works. Just being honest. God bless and stay positive! Stay busy! Idle hands are the devil’s playground. Music is my new addiction (playing killer guitar riffs)."
