Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "I was on opiate pain medications for 15 years for degenerative disc disease. Because of insurance, my oxycodone 30 mg and fentanyl 50 mcg patches were cut off. I panicked, what was I going to do for pain and withdrawal?!? Suboxone never worked for me in the past, it just made me sicker. HOWEVER!! I found methadone (Methadose is the liquid concentrate solution of methadone). It has literally changed my entire perception of pain meds. It controls my pain, keeps me from being sick, and it makes me not crave other opiates. I have more energy now than before and consider this drug a miracle."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "After years of opioid pain medication for severe back trauma, I had to stop taking the meds as I felt myself not in total control. Methadone has helped me stop taking the opioid pain meds, thank God! It isn't a 'wonder' drug, but it DOES control cravings and sickness."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been on methadone now for 1 year, it was the best decision I ever made. I had a 10 1/2 hour neck surgery, 4-level disc fusion, and was on pain meds for 15 years, and no, they did not work. I was always looking every day to buy some off the street. The money I spent, it was terrible. I was sick every day, and the only thing I could think about was where I was going to get my next pain pill. So, coming to the clinic is the best choice I ever made, so I have been clean for 1 year. I go shopping every day. Life is wonderful."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Withdrawal from methadone will take at least a month. It is absolutely the worst withdrawal ever! It served a purpose by enabling me to get away from the daily search for pills and not getting sick. I got my life back together. However, be advised the coming off the methadone is going to make you so very sick! Taper slowly! It's like being punished for a solid month. There are other options available, and if I were you, I would explore them. Do your research!"

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "I was taking 12 to 20 ROXY 30 mg a day for 5 or 6 years. It all started when I was in a car crash and then a motorcycle wreck. I was taking it for my pain to help me, and then when I tried to get off the medicines, I didn't know that it was going to be this hard. I thought just ''STOP'' and that's it, but no, I was so sick and so on. My friend told me about the methadone clinic, and I started to go there, and since then I have changed big time, and I know what I'm doing and so on. Thanks, God, for methadone."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "For around 5 years of my life, I was an extremely bad heroin addict. It completely and utterly ruined my life, to the point where I attempted to commit suicide by ODing on dope and Xanax. I've been on methadone close to two years now... I have my family back and am working on rebuilding my life. Unless you have tried and failed with suboxone, going to a rehab, etc., you have no business being on methadone. If you're taking something like Lortab, try and kick it yourself, or do a low dose suboxone taper. Methadone can turn you into a lifetime opioid addict. I had tried everything. Suboxone/subutex made me very sick, and I had tried to quit in every way possible, even 30 days inpatient. I'm scared about coming off, but with a support system I've seen it done successfully. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT THAT METHADONE SAVED MY LIFE."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was on 120 mg of methadone for 3 years. I was on 6 mg of clonazepam for 4 years. I also was eating the cocktail every day for years, which includes promethazine, clonidine, and any benzo. I was arrested and kicked all these drugs in an 11'8 cell. I was so sick, you have to go through it to know. I've been clean for 6 months. The only way to kick that habit is jail, best thing that ever happened to me."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Methadone is a great drug for opiate replacement and detox, but watch for side effects. I've been on it for 3 and a half years and have recently developed prolonged QT syndrome, a fairly dangerous arrhythmia, as a result of an increased dosage. Because of this, I have had to lower my dosage drastically and was very sick for 2 weeks."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was up to 120 mg. I started dropping 5 mg every 3 days, sometimes 10 mg. If it made me feel sick, I would slow down and let my body catch up. I've gone from 110 to 40 mg in about a month and a half, and I still feel good. I'm on my way of being done with this forever. Good luck to anyone struggling, just remember what it is you really want and go get it."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been on methadone for 10 years. I've been clean since then, but it's just another addiction controlled. Plus, does anyone feel sick, start to lose weight, all the symptoms of opiate withdrawal coming up for your next dose? It is really hard on me because I want to come off of it but just cannot handle the withdrawal. I mean, if I'm feeling like that before my next dose, what chance have I got to come off it?"

Methadone for Chronic Pain "I was referred to a pain clinic by my neurologist because of my ongoing chronic pain from a benign brain tumor, fibromyalgia, and a lot of other disorders. The neurologist at the pain clinic put me on 60 mg/day of methadone for pain management and Lorcet 10 mg for breakthrough pain, which I took for 20 years. I had mild pain, yes, medium pain sometimes, but nothing like before. Then, I got a call from the clinic saying that I could no longer be a patient there unless I could pay cash because Medicare stopped letting them treat their patients. I went into shock! I had an appointment scheduled in 5 days, but I would also have to pay cash for it. The clinic told me that they would refill my pain meds for 30 more days to give me time to find a new doctor or clinic. So, I thought crisis avoided, I can find a doctor in 30 days. I actually found a pain clinic! I left with no methadone, I went through the most awful torture, pain, and sickness. It's been 45+ days now, still sick! Just say no to it, please."

For Pain "I broke my neck at cervical levels C-5, 6, & 7 in 1994. I had tried everything (RX's) from codeine to fentanyl patch to everything else associated with chronic pain and nerve damage. Morphine made me sick ever so often, but when I started on a methadone pain RX program, I was relieved from many of the severe, chronic, and constant pain symptoms. It has been an excellent pain relief prescription for my condition since 1995. I hope that anyone who has severe, chronic, and constant pain symptoms try it."
