For Chronic Pain "After spending 6 years in the army and a misdiagnosis of Crohn's disease, I had reached the point of being ready to quit. I thought that I had permanently ruined my body and that something was wrong with me, and I had to have pain medication just to live. I was eventually diagnosed with fibro, degenerative joint disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, PTSD, and a couple of other things. I had enough and went to the local methadone clinic and told this long story about what a junkie I was and how I couldn't go two hours without doing drugs! They fell for it and started dosing me, and I haven't felt this great in years!!! I have my life back! I'm currently off all medications, only taking methadone, vitamin D, and B12, and my mental health is better as well!"

For Opiate Withdrawal "People can falsely say all the bad things they want about Methadone because when taken as the only medication in your arsenal for drug addiction, it's a lifesaver! I can FINALLY, after 14 years, have a normal life. I can finally have a steady job & go to college. If I kept living the way I was, I'd either be dead or homeless. Methadone saved me, literally. I did try to get clean many times and did even succeed and was clean for 3 years, but I still had such bad anxiety and fatigue. My brain chemicals never went back to normal. I was screwed and started using opiates again. I couldn't work or live my life for the 3 years I was 100% clean. After I started using opiates again, I knew I was screwed for life and I'd be dead or homeless one day. I finally went to a methadone clinic, and it was the BEST choice I ever made. I've been on it for 7 months now, clean from everything else. It doesn't get me high but allows me to live again!! Please don't suffer forever like I almost did."

Methadone for Chronic Pain "I've taken Methadone for 20 months now for chronic pain due to fibromyalgia, neuralgia, back and neck pain, and migraines. This has helped me incredibly well. I've been able to function and gain my life back again! The only drawback is some weight gain...not a lot though...about 15 pounds over the time span, which is not a bad trade-off for crippling chronic pain. Although there is a stigma connected to methadone users, it's worth it to finally be nearly pain-free and be living again!"

For Chronic Pain "I became very addicted to opiates from chronic pain. I was taking about 10 30mg oxycodone in a day. Trust me when I say that methadone has saved my life and my pocket. I will NEVER go back to that life. Methadone keeps me pain-free every day, all day. It's the best by far. Hope your experience is as good for you as for me and many others."

For Chronic Pain "I've been on Methadone for 5 years due to chronic pain from diffuse scleroderma and acute myositis. I tried every possible OTC med, narcotics (including high doses of morphine and fentanyl), Neurontin, Lyrica, physical therapy and nerve blocks. Nothing helped and I barely functioned... could barely walk to the bathroom and thought suicide was my only option for relief. Fortunately, a new pain doctor recommended Methadone. Titrated up to 20mg 3 times a day with wonderful results along with oxycodone 30mg 3-4 times a day for breakthrough pain. I was able to walk 3 miles each day, no sedation or side effects. A new doctor tried to wean me off both with horrible pain returning... changed docs and back to previous doses. A Godsend drug!!"

For Chronic Pain "Saved my life, and when I comment on this page, I'm commenting to people I assume are not self-medicating and not illegally using any drugs, but yes, a doctor put me on this medicine and it changed my life. I became a self-sufficient mother and wife again. I wanted to live again. No more thoughts of suicide because pain controlled my every step. I had tried mild to very strong medications, chiropractors, acupuncture, herbal, dietary, OTC medications, everything. Now 80 mg a day changed my life. My doctor moved and the new doctor will not prescribe it anymore. I've got a few to make it, I'm trying with all my might to find a physician. I'm scared, I'm real scared, I can't go back to the pain, it hurt too bad."

Methadone for Pain "This has been the best pain medication I have found to relieve my back and neck pain. It has been the hardest to get prescribed. I do not understand why other than the stigma it has for the maintenance use for heroin addicts. Unlike other pain medicines, it does not get me high, and it lasts more than a day, and I can get by on less than ten mg a day."

For Chronic Pain "I was recently switched from 50 mcg of the Fentanyl patch (changed every 72 hours) to Methadone 10mg tablets 3 times daily for chronic pain. I was allowed to keep my Percocet, 10/325 up to 5 a day, for breakthrough. I did not want to switch off the Fentanyl patches, but I was told that even if it worked and provided no side effects, the CDC said that I don't have cancer. So I could take 50 micrograms of Fentanyl with no breakthrough meds or I could switch to Methadone. I have tried over 100 medications of all kinds and Fentanyl was the first to allow a life worth living. So far, the Methadone has been amazing! The downsides are: extreme constipation, some wheezing, and some Thanksgiving weight. I follow up in 2 days. Keep your fingers crossed."

For Chronic Pain "I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 20. I stopped school and went through many years of chemotherapy. For bone and nerve pain, I found methadone to be the best drug for daily use. It does help particularly with nerve pain. However, since its long half-life and milder symptoms compared to other opiates, it was easy for me to develop the drug into a daily routine. Eight years later, I am still taking methadone three times a day every day. Not so much for pain, but because of the horrible withdrawals (which can last for months) I experience if I miss a dose. I am now trapped in an addiction I never wanted. Before considering methadone for long-term use, please research methadone addiction. It's considered by many to be one of the hardest drugs to kick."

For Pain "This medication has worked far better than any of the other medications that I have tried before, including Fentanyl, Percocet, and Morphine. I still have a lot of pain, so I do take another pain medicine between doses because it is necessary. Methadone controls my pain for longer periods than any of the other medications that I have been on. In my personal opinion, as long as this medicine is used as it is prescribed, it is very useful and the benefits are astounding."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "Methadone absolutely saved my life. I know 15 years is a long time to be on a medication but without it, I would be, without a doubt, dead. I lost my best friend in the whole world to me to heroin, as well as my husband. I am now a mom, I work a full-time job, and I go to work every day. I have my own home. I might not have everything everyone would want, but I have everything I need, and so do my children. Without the methadone, I would have nothing, so this drug has done miracles for my life, and anyone with opiate addiction that can’t seem to find another way out, I highly, highly recommend it!"

For Pain "This is by far the best medicine for chronic back pain. These pain doctors need to realize not everyone is a drug addict. All the other medications have serious side effects that they are substituting for narcotics. The only side effect is constipation, but they now have prescription medicine for this."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I have been on methadone for 24 years. Was also on it in 1980, was sober till '89. Bad accident. Doctor gave me the dreaded dilaudid after 4 years. I found a doctor who cared. He saved me, I broke up with my terrible spouse, who would not quit (died an addict in 2013). Got me clean, never took another opiate from '93 on. I am now at 12 mls. Went down a few this summer. I will probably be on it for a long time for back pain. It's great. I am 63, sober, and happy. It's great. Keep up the good work."

For Chronic Pain "Over half of my life has been spent in chronic pain. I had 2 disks fused and a pinched nerve fixed 20 years ago. I've had a pain pump and been put on everything you can imagine. I can promise you guys something, nothing is as good as methadone to help pain, in my opinion. I've been on it for 16 years now. It is hard to get used to though. You will get very drowsy in the beginning. I can tell you it's hard to have a bowel movement in the bathroom also. I would recommend stool softeners if you take methadone for that. I got caught in between doctors once and the withdrawal is hellish, no joking on that. I've seen heroin addicts say it was worse. I thank God and my doctor I get to take my Lyrica and methadone for my pain."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I am a mother of 3 great kids and I was throwing my life away by being addicted to any pain pill I could get my hands on. Primarily Oxy. I had a great job and spent most of my money on the drugs. My main concern was getting them daily. Someone told me about Methadone and I knew that if I didn't do something, I would be dead before I was 40 years old and my kids would be without a mom. I have been on Methadone for over a year and it literally saved my life. I now have a life, I am a mom again, a wife, and a great worker. I just recently received an award for the community I live and work in for making my community a better place to live and received a promotion. Not too bad for an addict and if not for Methadone, I would not be where I am."

For Chronic Pain "I have had 4 spine surgeries from degenerative discs and have fibromyalgia. I have had chronic pain for 20 years. I went through ALL pain meds. Methadone got me to a place I could function and live my life! Without throwing up all the time! I recently was able to slowly decrease the amount because I had gotten so high on the amount. The only downfall, when you have been on it as long as me, is you have to keep upping the amount. I also take Neurontin and that helps so much too! I take many vitamins, started exercising, and lost weight, so I could lower the amount of Methadone. It makes my life bearable. My doctor let me go as slow as I wanted, and over a year I decreased the amount from 200mgs to 80mgs. For severe pain, a must-have!"

For Chronic Pain "I have been on 60 mg for 15 years. I live alone and have Fibromyalgia as well as spine and joint problems. The government just stepped in last month and switched me to Ultram and hydrocodone. I can't move my back. I can't walk more than to my car and back, 20 feet. I weigh 154 lbs and eat organic and am very careful with all medications. I will be seeing a new doctor next month and hope to go right back to where I was. It is truly a very good pain medicine to control pain all day and all night."

For Chronic Pain "Due to a broken back & spinal fusion at age 14, I've developed arthritis, deg. disc disease & spinal stenosis. The intense pain started in my 20s & I was on all sorts of narcotics. I became addicted physically & mentally and eventually the Dr. stopped giving me meds, which brought me to seeking out street drugs. After many detoxes & going home in terrible, debilitating pain, I got onto Methadone. This med has helped tremendously with my pain so I could actually function & work, as well as refrain from any other narcotics. My back has worsened over the years & I now have Lupus as well. I take 35mg morning & night, which has been giving me lasting pain relief all these years & I haven't had to increase my dose."

I would suggest methadone to anyone battling chronic pain issues."

For Chronic Pain "I was offered 20mg/day of this medication at pain management but was afraid to try it. I had gotten a hold of a few and tried one 10mg pill for extreme fibromyalgia pain because I ran 3 days short on my normal pain meds. 12 hours later and I am still pain free. I'd rather use this once a day than oxycodone 3-4x a day. Mind you, I did extensive research before using the medication. I like the fact that I have been pain free all day without feeling loopy or high. No cravings or discomfort from withdrawing from other pain meds. Would definitely recommend this for anyone with chronic pain or if you just want to detox comfortably."

For Chronic Pain "Prior to Methadone therapy, my physician prescribed several different medications without being able to control my pain. The medications caused negative physical and emotional reactions without removing pain. Methadone therapy has been my MIRACLE. I went from bedridden to being able to function as a human being on Methadone. The success of Methadone depends on the patient following the physician's orders and NOT altering them or taking OTC medications without consulting your physician FIRST."

For Opiate Withdrawal "Go for the methadone. I've been an opiate addict for 10 years. I've been on methadone for two months now and I feel better than I ever have. I get my dose early in the morning and it keeps me well all day. I hardly ever think about getting high anymore. It's a better life. It works. It will take a week or two to find your appropriate dose but when you do, you will feel so much better. I go to work and take care of my family. My love life with my wife is better than ever. I can play with my son outside. It's great. If there's hope for me, there's hope for you too, my friend."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "Methadone saved my life as I have addiction and pain. When first started on methadone, I was at rock bottom of addiction. I also just survived being run over by an SUV vehicle. I broke both hips and shattered my pelvis. I was in the hospital for 6 months. With a year of opiates before the accident, no pain medication would subside the pain. Now I have 9 years clean and sober, and I get a month of methadone at a time. I was supposed to never walk again or have kids, now I chase after my 2 kids every day. I thank God every day."

For Opiate Withdrawal "I was addicted to heroin for almost 5 years. Nothing helped until I got on methadone. I tried everything: rehabs, intensive outpatient, Suboxone (more than once). Methadone saved my life. It took away cravings once I got on the right dose. It’s all about finding your correct dose. If it’s too low, you may still have cravings. But also, I will say I wasn’t trying to up my dose as high as I could to feel “high.” I just wanted to stay as low as I could but still manage cravings. I was on methadone for 6 and a half years, and my highest dose was 90 mg. I have been off the methadone now for 6 months. I did a slow taper and felt very little withdrawal symptoms. I jumped off at 2 mg."

Methadone for Opiate Withdrawal "I have struggled with addiction my whole life and no matter how I try, I cannot abstain for long on my own. Methadose has made this a walk in the park. I have my life back. I can be in the moment and experience life (good or bad) as it comes. I consider Methadose a life saver."
