For Period Pain "I have only started using this medication, which I have been prescribed by my GP, and it relieved me of most symptoms. I experienced most symptoms of painful periods, ranging from vomiting to very severe cramps. This medicine worked within about 10-20 minutes, however, some cramps can still be felt, but very minor."

For Period Pain "Mefenamic acid is a game changer. I used to vomit, have diarrhea, feel lightheaded, dizzy, pass out, and just be in horrific pain. Since I've started taking mefenamic acid, I've been able to actually do things during my period. However, it doesn't take away all of my pain and nausea, it's, however, allowed me to get a week of my life back each month."

For Period Pain "My period cramps are debilitating to the point of vomiting, chills, nausea, and dizziness. I started taking mefenamic acid about a year or two ago, beginning on the first day of my period; two in the morning, two in the afternoon, two at night. I take them for 3-4 days. They were truly the solution for me! All pain was gone, which meant no vomiting or nausea, and I never had any side effects from the medication. However, the past 5-6 months, I've been experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, and pain on my first day of my period, sometimes lasting into the second day. This is not a result of the pills, as it happens before I take them, BUT the pills haven't been working as well to ease the pain or these symptoms, even if taken on time. My cramps used to disappear when I took these pills; now, they remain a dull ache or sometimes cramps totally unaffected by the pill. Odd. Overall, I've had a very pleasant experience with this medication - just seems my body has been doing its own thing lately."

Mefenamic acid for Period Pain "About 16 years ago, I began having severe vomiting and some abdominal pain with my period. My symptoms were debilitating monthly for 3-5 days and greatly limited my daily activities. I tried over-the-counter remedies such as Advil, Tylenol, Naproxen, and Pamprin, none of which did anything to alleviate my symptoms. Then I tried Ponstel. My mother had been taking Ponstel for years for the same problems, so we thought it was worth a try. What a difference it made! It took the edge off the pain and totally relieved the vomiting. To be the most effective, it does have to be taken at the onset or just before the onset of symptoms. The only downside to it is that insurance companies don't want to cover it, and it isn't cheap."

For Period Pain "The first day of my period, I would get severe cramps. I would vomit and also not be able to eat a single thing. I would just sit in my bed in severe, severe pain. I felt like I was being stabbed over and over again. I would also get diarrhea. Then my GP recommended this medication, and the only thing it helped with was my nausea. But the problem was I didn't care about that, I just cared about my period cramps not hurting as much. To be honest, this pill made my period cramps even worse. I don't know how that was possible. I felt like I was in labor and being stabbed at the same time."

For Period Pain "I have PCOS, causing severe period pain, vomiting, and fever that can last days and cause me to miss work. Trying Ponstan for the first time today, so far, it’s working. I’m tired and can still feel the pain, but it’s an acceptable dulled level where I can lay still comfortably, and so far, no vomiting. This is a massive improvement for me. My doctor emphasized that I must take Ponstan as soon as I start bleeding for it to work, and I did, and so far, so good."

For Period Pain "With my periods, I have gotten severe pain in my back and stomach, I throw up every time, headaches, you name it. I’ve tried Feminax, ibuprofen, codeine, and now mefenamic acid. I just started the mini pill, hoping that it would be enough to stop the severe pain, but because I just started it a week ago, it has only delayed it. I’m sure that the mini pill will kick into high gear within the next two cycles, but while I wait, I was given mefenamic acid. I tried it for only a day, it did nothing. It might as well have been taking a sugar pill. For me, it doesn’t work, maybe for you, it will, but I’m mad because I still had to go through all that pain and vomiting for no relief."

For Period Pain "My periods have been bad. I first got them (when I was 10). Was prescribed mefenamic acid, but it's never helped (been using it for about 4 or 5 months), nor does ibuprofen, paracetamol, or hot water bottles. The pain is bad enough that I vomit occasionally, and I often struggle to move on my periods. It's bad enough that I get very depressed and also quite suicidal. Anyone got anything else that might help? I discussed birth control with my GP, but he was hesitant as a result of my mental health. Also need to ask for stronger pain relievers."

For Period Pain "I woke up this morning clenching my stomach and even vomited from how bad my period pains were. I took the tablets and had a nap. When I woke, I had no pain, and blood flow had reduced a lot too."

For Period Pain "I can’t tell if this stuff works because every time I take it, I throw it back up."

For Period Pain "I've taken this for the first time today. I was prescribed it after very painful periods and advised to take it when I have pain for as many days as I need (the first day being so bad I am crying in pain and having time off work). I started to get period cramps today, took 1 dose, and within an hour had no pain at all. I usually have vomiting and diarrhea on the first day, but this has disappeared as well. It has also made my period so much lighter. Best medication I have had for period pain."
