For Period Pain "Mefenamic acid is a game changer. I used to vomit, have diarrhea, feel lightheaded, dizzy, pass out, and just be in horrific pain. Since I've started taking mefenamic acid, I've been able to actually do things during my period. However, it doesn't take away all of my pain and nausea, it's, however, allowed me to get a week of my life back each month."

For Period Pain "I have found that I have to take this as soon as I feel any twinges for it to work, and I take codeine at the same time. It massively reduced blood flow and made the cramps bearable. This month, I am back to being shaky, nauseous, and sweating. But I have anxiety and depression, and both these things exaggerate pain hugely. Relaxation is a big key to better periods!"

For Period Pain "The first day of my period, I would get severe cramps. I would vomit and also not be able to eat a single thing. I would just sit in my bed in severe, severe pain. I felt like I was being stabbed over and over again. I would also get diarrhea. Then my GP recommended this medication, and the only thing it helped with was my nausea. But the problem was I didn't care about that, I just cared about my period cramps not hurting as much. To be honest, this pill made my period cramps even worse. I don't know how that was possible. I felt like I was in labor and being stabbed at the same time."

For Period Pain "I was recommended this medicine after a night in the hospital because of severe cramps, but when I took this, the cramps stopped. But now I am with severe stomach pain and nausea, I can't eat and already spent two nights in the hospital, and nobody knows how to stop it. Don't recommend it."

For Period Pain "I've had painful cramps and heavy bleeding since my first period, and I often haven't been able to get out of bed because of it. The doctors prescribed me mefenamic acid, and it's saved my life. I have so many fewer cramps, and my flow's a lot less heavy! The only problem is that they make me feel very nauseous, but other than that, they work great for me :)"

For Period Pain "Guys, I thought I was the only one. I’ve been taking mefenamic acid for like the past three periods, and it doesn’t work at all for me. I end up on the floor, crying my eyes out, about to throw up. I’ve been thinking, why would my doctors prescribe this to me?! Mind you, I had to pay for this prescription in full, and it wasn’t cheap. I guess I’ll try it a week before because I see a lot on here about how you should take it before so it can build up. So this is a warning for anyone out there thinking about using this medication, make sure to do the research first."

For Period Pain "I have used mefenamic acid for period pain twice so far and will probably not be using it again. I will still give it a decent review since it helped a lot with my period pain and lessened the bleeding, but after taking one 500 mg tablet the first time (with dinner) I got a stabbing pain in my stomach and severe nausea, however, it went away after about an hour. After about 10 hours, I started to just take ibuprofen for the rest of the period. Next time my period was a bit early, so I had to take M. Acid for the pain again, used it twice with about 10 hours in between, ended up with stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea the next few days (still have it, and my period is done). Hope it won't last..."

For Period Pain "When I first got my period, I used to be able to use paracetamol and ibuprofen to take away the pain, but as the years went by, it no longer worked, and I was being sick, shaking, and in excruciating pain. So mefenamic acid was recommended, and it has done nothing to help with the pain. The only good thing is that it shortens my period from 7 days down to 3 or 4 days. It has also made my back pain when I’m on my period worse, it’s gotten so bad that my back starts to seize up, and I’m left curled up and crying."

For Period Pain "After my second dose, I went to bed. I got up after a couple of hours as I couldn’t sleep through the cramps. All of a sudden, I had the worst pain I have ever experienced through my whole abdomen. I was on the floor about to black out or vomit from the pain, debating on calling an ambulance. The pain went away after several minutes, thankfully, but I have never been in such agony. I won’t be taking this again."
