For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started bleeding July 15, and it’s now Sep 14. I went to my doctor, they did an ultrasound, they said everything looked fine, blood work came back fine, and that sometimes it’s just the way it is, not knowing why I’m bleeding so much! Anyways, I threw a fit with the doctor, told her bleeding during intercourse and so much is not normal! She tried to tell me it was the positions we were doing, and I said no, I just want to know why. So she prescribed Provera 10 mgs, 1 tablet a day for 10 days. I am now on day 6, and the bleeding went from a little to so heavy I am changing my pads every hour! My cramps are unbearable, and there are so many blood clots! I just emailed my doctor to see what she says, fingers crossed that she can help give me answers!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got Depo-Provera on June 10 at the hospital after giving birth to my daughter. Today is September 15 and I have not stopped bleeding at all! I also have two friends who have the same problem. This shot is terrible!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I thought the shot would be easy due to the fact of taking it every three months compared to the pill taking it every day, but the shot does not work for my body! I have been bleeding for over a month now. I am going back to the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Good evening, I stated my cycle like normal, only it lasted over a month. I freaked and went to the doctor because I was going insane. Got given a 14-day course of Provera, and I've been taking it for 2 days now, and the bleeding has stopped completely. I'm scared that if I stop taking it, I'll start to bleed again. I have to go back to get the ultrasound to figure out what happened. I've always had irregular periods, but normally I just would skip 3 or 4 months and start lasting 4-5 days most of the time, it's stress. This time it started and was beyond heavy. Not a lot of pain, though. I wish everyone hope for the madness we all share. Thanks for the comments. It's helped me a lot."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got my first Depo-Provera shot the third week of October 2019. It is now June, I've had 4 shots, and I’ve bled almost every day. Sex is painful because progesterone makes me dry, and I’m bleeding all the time. Almost 9 months straight of bleeding. I want to stop, but I’m trying to wait for the 12-month mark where they said bleeding stops. We will see."

I had my son 10 weeks ago, so decided to try this and what a REGRET!!!! Is there a bad batch or something?! As I had the shot a few years back and never had this problem."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started the depo at my 6-week check-up after my 4th child. I get it every 3 months and have received a total of 3 shots so far. I have been bleeding with a light period ever since the day I first got it. It's not as heavy as my usual period, but it's enough to have to always wear a pad."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 18 years old. I never been on any other birth control but the 3 months on Depo-Provera... I bled for 2 months as well as depression. I was PMSing the full 2 months. Caused problems in my relationship because of it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got the 3-month Depo Provera injection. I experience irregular bleeding (having periods after every 2 weeks and spotting in between). This occurred for 3 months 'on the Depo Provera.' I did not go back for another shot because I switched to a copper IUD straight after the 3 months were over. I bled every single day (and not spotting) for nearly 3 months and 2 weeks. I guess it took nearly three months for the shot to wear off for the bleeding to stop completely. Worst nightmare. Was always tired, hair started to fall, experienced depression, low sex drive. I discouraged all my friends from taking this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Depo Provera since Dec. 6, 2015. Started bleeding on January 6, 2015, and it hasn't stopped since then! I had my second injection last Saturday, and I'm hoping that the bleeding will stop. It's effective in preventing pregnancy, but it's greatly affecting my sex life."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My shot ended in August, and since then I have been constantly bleeding. I went in and saw a doctor about this issue, and they told me to take 3 pain relievers 4 times a day to stop the bleeding. I have tried that, and I am still bleeding. I will never get on this shot again. I have been on this shot before and never had issues like this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been taking this shot since October. I've been bleeding nonstop since December. It went from a 2-week period to a 2-month period. I've taken meds to help & nothing! This is horrible. It's like I'm on the shot for no reason."

For Amenorrhea "Taking Provera was the worst decision I ever made. My period was very heavy. I was told by my OBGYN that it was going to delay my period, but it made me worse than I was before taking it. Day 5 of my period and still a heavy flow. Still have pain. I found out after taking it I will have another period 3-7 days after having a 10-day cycle. I can’t have this much bleeding."

For Birth Control "I've been on Depo Provera for about a month now, and I absolutely love it! I haven't had ANY bleeding, no cramps, no headaches or dizziness, no mood swings, no swollen or tender breasts, no weight gain, nothing! I still have a sex drive and I feel perfectly normal. Most people with good side effects don't think to share their experience, so remember that everyone's body is different and your experience might be like mine!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm 41 years old. I've been taking Provera for a month now. It stopped my bleeding the first month, but then it came back in full force, and I haven't stopped bleeding yet, and it's been a month. I was put on it because of my anemia and fibroids because my blood was low due to the loss of blood. I have been feeling very weak, bleeding heavily, and having horrible pain, going back to the doctors due to the pain and bleeding. I cannot take the pain, and I stopped taking the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got the Depo shot in October 2014. It is now February 2015, and I have been either spotting or full-on bleeding since then. I can't have sex because I start to bleed as if my period just started. I've been on and off the Depo for four years, and this is the first time I've had a bad experience with it. I also gained 25 pounds since October, but I eat healthily and go to the gym regularly."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on this for a few months. I'm very bad at remembering to take the pill every day at the same exact time, so I figured the shot would be perfect. And I know it's still a little too early to determine whether or not I like it. I got my period in December, and she administered the shot. I haven't stopped bleeding since, and it's almost March! I spoke with my doctor, and she told me it was totally normal and it was my body getting used to the medication, but I very much dislike it. I've been VERY moody, and I get so turned off by food that sometimes I just go through the day drinking fluids. This has only been from one shot, but I'll see where it goes. If it continues to go downhill, I have to switch back to the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was prescribed these to delay my period for 3 weeks while on holiday, they delayed it for about 7 days, but I still got my period, then had heavy, irregular bleeding for approximately 2 months. I have PCOS, so my periods are extremely irregular but only last 5 days and are light to normal. This medication wasn't any good for me at all, and along with the spontaneous, heavy bleeding, I had terrible pain and large clots. I'll never take them again. I've had northisterone in the past to delay my period, and they were brilliant. This is just my experience, and every woman is different."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "If I could give this shot a 0 rating, I would. Let's start with I've always had a normal period before this unexplained side effect of a shot. This shot was administered to me in April, and I didn't stop bleeding until July 31st. After doing my own research and taking matters into my own hands, it has finally stopped. I went to the doctor countless times trying to figure out how to stop the bleeding. I took (BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES), if I could type that in bold letters and in a bigger font, I would. When I tell you on the first day of taking it, the bleeding was much lighter, and on the 5th day it was gone. All I took was one tablespoon daily."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I received my second Depo Provera shot early October after having it once before and while I was 17/18. My mood swings are horrible still, breast tenderness is outrageous. I also have had the worst cramping pain (worse than IUD pain). It was unbearable when I first started ovulating. I could not lay flat in bed, had a heating blanket and heating pad on my lower back and abdominal area for a week. I took Midol and ibuprofen like the doctors told me, and nothing has stopped this. I have clots coming out, they want me to come in again to poke at me. Just super put out and exhausted. I am sleeping up to 10-12 hours a day. It has caused me to have less ambition at my workplace too. I am very active as I am a CNA at the hospital, but I bleed through my pants at least two times a shift. My acne is horrible around my chin, and my stomach is sore from the on and off bloating. It brought tears to my eyes finding this page and seeing I am not alone in this."

For Birth Control "I had nothing but negative effects from the Depo shot that are continuing even after the duration of action of the Depo. I am now experiencing terrible migraines (I rarely, if ever had even minor headaches). They have been occurring multiple times per day including nausea and diarrhea. I experienced these same symptoms for the first time after I received my first shot. I also experienced neck stiffness, severe mood swings, bouts of depression that seemed to arrive from nowhere, no sex drive whatsoever, and worst of all menstrual bleeding for an entire month straight which was only counteracted by a high dosage of birth control pills."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got this shot back in July. I went to the clinic for Depo Provera, and I really thought this was gonna help. I guess I was wrong. Ever since August, I have had irregular bleeding but not a period, just spotting and bleeding that happens at random times, and I always get blood on my underwear, and I don’t want to wear pads every single day. It’s been 7 months now, and I’m still having this problem. I know it’s normal to have irregular bleeding, but it should have stopped by now. This shot has been no help, and I’m always having cramps and bleeding, and I’m miserable. And if I stop the shot, I’ll bleed for even longer, and I really don’t want that. I don’t know what to do to make my periods regular and make my long periods never happen again. I don’t know if I should switch to the IUD 'cause I’ll probably have more side effects, and I’m sick of it. Never should have gotten this shot. Big regret."
