For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Had the shot once, no bleeding the first two months, then the third month a four-week-long period. Didn't go back (due for another shot May third), and I've pretty much been bleeding/spotting the whole time. April-September and still going strong."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I wish I could give this a ZERO star. They warned me that I could have some abnormal bleeding, but nobody warned me that I'd be bleeding enough to support the Red Cross. My blood count is low, which it never has been before. Not to mention the acne, the attitude, the sore breasts, and the emotional instability to go along with it. The REAL reason this works as birth control is because nobody on this medication is doing anything even remotely related to sex (oh yeah, I forgot to mention - no sex drive). Even if you had a sex drive, it's a bloody war zone! Nope! Hopefully, someone, anyone really, will read this and think, 'nope, I'll go a different route,' and I will have saved someone some MAJOR heartache and struggles."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm approaching the third calendar shot for me, and now that I have begun to bleed unexpectedly, I've taken the time to evaluate myself. Since beginning the Depo-Provera in February, I've noticed a series of uncontrollable headaches, as well as a spike in my blood pressure. I was administered a better dosage of hydrochlorothiazide to reduce the effects of this blood pressure spike, but immediately preceding my dosage, I started experiencing this unexpected bleeding. Taken aback by such abrupt change, this makes me reflect on the changes my body has experienced throughout the short course of being administered Depo. I had even begun to experience anxiety here and there, not to mention fatigue. Later came the abdominal cramps and pains, with vaginal adverse side effects."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "July 4, I get my cycle. I am on it for 9 days. At this time, I go to the doctor. She prescribes me Provera. A day or two of taking it, and the cycle is gone. A week after I finished, my cycle is back, heavier than I have ever had and has been on for 8 days. I see no signs of it leaving. I went to the doctor, all they did was prescribe me Provera again. I don't want to take it because it is to bring your period. I don't need it to be brought on. I want it to go away. How long am I going to be bleeding after taking this medicine? It is like I am peeing on myself, and it is frustrating. Please help. I have never had any issues with long heavy cycles before, so I don't know what is going on."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've had PCOS since I was a teen, very irregular periods, Dr. says I don't ovulate. High school sweetheart and I got married, and we want children. It's very difficult having PCOS. Dr. prescribed Provera to induce a period. She said it would shed the lining and would be like starting 'new.' Took 1 pill a day for 7 days. Took 3 days to start my period after the last pill. I do not recommend this pill to anyone. I've had severe bleeding for several days and large blood clots. I soak through at least 2 super plus tampons an hour. It leaks so bad through the tampon I have to also wear pads. Pads have rubbed me raw, and the heavy bleeding and constant changing of tampons have made me raw from the top of my vagina to my butthole. I'm very weak and dizzy."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Been on this medication for nearly a week now. I am bleeding terribly, really bad cramping. I am 42 now, and I have had irregular periods for 3 years, but now it's a nightmare. It just feels like you are the only person going through this, it drags you down. Ladies, any idea how long these pills take to kick in to bring the bleeding to an end?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My cycle has been on for over 3 months, so I went to the doctor. She prescribed Provera. The first day after starting the medication, I cramped (I'm not a cramper). The cramps stopped, but the bleeding never did. About two weeks on the pill, I started bleeding really heavily and passing too many clots, then I came to research. I wouldn't recommend this drug to anyone."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was on Depo for a year and had my last shot on 7th March '19. When I was on Depo, I would have the occasional bleed, but overall it suited me. However, since I have stopped taking it, OMG.... so I kept a diary. The injection wears off roughly 12/13 weeks after the last injection, so the 1st week in June. 4-day bleed in July, 3-day bleed in August, 9-day bleed in September, 15-day bleed in October, 5-day bleed in November, and get this...... last period started 30th November, and today is the 12th January 2020, and I am STILL bleeding!!! Sick of my life!! I am off to the doctors tomorrow as I cannot handle this anymore, 44 days of solid period (no let up), and I am done. If anyone had told me this might've happened, then I would have for sure never ever taken this injection."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I went almost 3 months without a period. I should've known I was in for trouble, but I just let it slide until the day I started my period. I bled for 5 weeks non-stop. It was very heavy with lots of large clots. I went to the ER eventually, and the doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days. It was awesome for 10 days-almost no bleeding, just spotting here and there. I came off of Provera, and 2 days later, I'm bleeding 10 times worse and a lot more clots than I was before taking the drug. Something's got to give, I just want to be able to be normal again!"

For Amenorrhea "I'm 26 years old and have always had irregular periods. Recently, I found out that I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) and was prescribed Provera. I took it twice a day for 10 days and started bleeding about 3 days after they finished. I can honestly say it was the worst period I've ever had! It was very heavy, and I felt sick and dizzy. I was so emotional, and I never get any sort of PMS usually. My period also lasted for 10 days. It stopped on Sunday, and I'm bleeding again today (Thursday). Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Well, I had my last shot on 4th November. Should have had it redone at the end of January. Since then, I’ve bled constantly, really heavy, and with big clots, massive in fact. I've been to the docs today, sending me for a scan to make sure all is ok. He did say it can take a while to get out of the body. I’m also anaemic, so bloody marvellous, no pun intended. Keep you posted."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Do not take this Depo Provera shot. I have not stopped bleeding, and I took one shot, gained 4 pounds because of the shot, so I have stopped taking it, and now I'm bleeding and it won't stop. It's been going on for months now. I never had problems with my period until after I had the Depo Provera. Don't take the shot, you will not maybe ever have kids again. Bleeding doesn't stop. This shot should be discontinued and off the market."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started my first Depo-Provera shot at the beginning of January and have been bleeding lots of bright red blood for about 2 weeks now. After reading everyone’s reviews about the nightmare not ending even after stopping the injection, I’m really regretting this decision. I’ve had the worst cramps ever, and I’m bloated and feel exhausted every day. Having a full period for 2 weeks is ridiculous, and the fact this can last for months is stressing me out. I was very optimistic about trying out another form of birth control since I had issues with the combination pill. My doctor said I would experience just some light spotting until my body adjusted, which isn’t accurate. Please avoid this injection at all costs! It isn’t worth the possibility of being stuck with these horrible side effects for months until it’s out of your system and maybe even beyond that! This was the worst mistake ever and not worth it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So my doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for 10 days, and it completely stopped the bleeding, thank God. Seven days later, I got my period with the worst cramps ever, and I was bleeding really heavily with lots of blood clots. It was so uncomfortable."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Just wanted to share my experience with Provera. I was prescribed 20 mg for 30 days. I had heavy bleeding with huge clots on the 4th day of taking Provera. I was bleeding for two weeks while on Provera, and then it stopped. Just give this medication the time, it works."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was advised to go on this as I have endo stage one. I've been on it 9 months, and it's been horrific. I bled the first shot for 68 days, then I spot constantly, which is so infuriating. Worst decision I made going on this."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This shot has temporarily ruined my life. I am close to my 3-month mark of this shot, which means another dose. I am strongly considering not getting another. I am currently typing this at 4 am because I woke up after bleeding through my pad. Not fun. I've been bleeding/spotting for over half of the 3 months. I am always bloated, tired, and emotional. Sex drive gone, not to mention the constant inserting and deserting of tampons dozens of times a day. The only thing I ever see is blood. I'm constantly tired, I don't have the drive to do anything. This shot has consumed my life."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "The first time I took Provera, it worked great for 3-4 years and made me regular. I had gone to the ER for heavy bleeding and clotting. The second time I went to the ER was earlier this year (2015) for the same reason. Provera slowed it down, passed clots, and then I spotted here and there. Just recently, mid-July, I started having heavy bleeding again, and the docs couldn't give me answers as to why, but put me on Provera again. It didn't do anything this time. It slowed it down on Day 1-Day 3 on it, and then after, and especially when I finished Provera, I was bleeding very heavily. The doc said that's to be expected and have to wait it out and just wait for my ultrasound. I'm so sick of all this bleeding and even more so not getting any answers/treatment."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been on the Depo-Provera since November 2014, and I've been bleeding ever since. It's about time for my next shot, and I will not be continuing to take this medicine. Whereas it may be effective, it's costing more money buying feminine hygiene products, and it's seriously affecting my sex life. And I'm over the continuous bleeding."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks. I bled after that for 2 weeks and then stopped bleeding for 4 weeks. I then got my first period, which started out very light, then, 5 days later, I was bleeding so heavily and passing very large clots that I ended up going to the ER. They decided to do a D and C to stop the heavy bleeding, but I bled just as heavily after the D and C. So, after several trips to the ER, they gave me Provera. After taking one pill, my bleeding became very light and stayed that way for the last 2 days. Today, however, I did a short rowing workout (the first time I've exercised in 2 weeks), and the bleeding seemed to pick up a little bit, and a pretty big clot came out (I'm not sure if it was from before when I was bleeding heavily and it just worked its way out). I was wondering if the bleeding got worse for anyone else after exercise?"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Stay as far away as possible from this medicine. I took only one injection on Oct 11, 2015, during my cycle, with hopes of lightening my cycle, which was due to start on my wedding day, Nov 21, 2015. I started bleeding approximately 1 week after receiving the injection, it is now Feb 22, 2016, and I am still bleeding. It's a constant spotting, with a breakthrough of extreme heavy bleeding, soaking a pad within an hour. I am a newlywed and unable to satisfy my husband, I surely hope he doesn't go out and cheat due to this stupid shot. There should be some type of class action lawsuit. Depo Provera needs to come off the market."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "At first, I went in to get treatment for uterine bleeding, which I’ve had for over 3 weeks. I was prescribed Provera 10 mg once a day for 10 days (which stopped the bleeding instantly). Soon after, during my 5th day of taking the pill, I started to cramp with slight bleeding. By the 3rd day into my “menstrual cycle,” I started to bleed heavily. Now, I’m on my 7th day, and there’s no sign of slowing down. The doctor told me it typically will last 2 weeks, and if I’m still bleeding heavily, I’ll need to see her. The doctor also said if I’m not changing no more than 2 pads per hour, it’s normal. I’m kinda irritated and scared."
