"A drug I can rely on! I always get my period within 5 days of stopping Provera 10mg x 5 days. This time, it came on the morning of day 4. But get your diapers ready! It is extremely bloody! I am thankful for it kickstarting my cycle in hopes of a positive Frozen Embryo Transfer! I don't mind the heavy bleed and cramping. When you have infertility and amennorhea, a period can be a blessing, it can mean new hope for the coming cycle (I am a glass half full type person!)"

"I have PCOS and my doctor prescribed me with Provera for 14 days, 10mg per day and was told by my doctor that it will help me regulate my period. I remember taking it on May 17 and I was on it till May 31. I was told that I was gonna get my period after 3 days. I didn’t get it after that but I had light spotting a couple days after. I called my doctor she said I should get it very soon. Finally it came on June 9th it was still very light, days has passed and it started to get heavier. It’s June 21 now and I’m still bleeding. I have called my doctor to check with her if this is serious as I had never bled this much before of course it was very alarming. She told me that I had to wait until it subside and have an ultrasound. I am also experiencing mood changes, breakouts, cramps, breast tenderness, fatigue, dizziness, nausea and headaches, the side effects are not so bad but my main concern is the long period. Did anyone else had the same experience?"

"I took Provera for 10 days at a dose of 10mg a day, prescribed by my fertility doctor with intentions to induce my period. My period was always regular up until recently. The side effects while on this drug were some pretty bad, mood swings, mild cramps on and off and breast soreness. A week after the dose ended and I still hadn’t gotten my period. Low and behold it arrived this morning. Thanks to this drug we can now continue our fertility journey. Have patience- it can really work. Now I’ve got a heavy period with horrid cramps- but it’s worth it!!!"

"So let's talk about Provera. I was put on this for not having a period for 10 months. Just remember that during the time you don't have a period in most cases your body is still producing that lining. I took it for a week (10mg a day) and got my period 3 days later. It is my far the worst period I've ever had. This is worse than any period I've had even the ones I had directly after giving birth. I've bled through pads and tampons multiple times and I'm only on day 4! I'm feeling nauseous and dizzy and weak, normal daily functions are hard at this point. I also feel very angry and withdrawn to the point of where I just want to be by myself and sleep. Oh not to mention the huge clots I've been passing. If this were considered a "normal period" I would have went to the hospital by now. The cramps are horrendous also. I will say if you are trying to get your period it does the job, just be prepared for one nightmareish period."

"I have never had a normal cycle, I started on birth control very young because I had constant bleeding that was almost never ending for years. I switched the type of birth control I was on over the years at least 15 times and nothing was able to control the relentless bleeding. At 24 I got married and stopped taking the pill all together, at which time my cycle also completely stopped. For a year my husband and I tried to conceive with no luck so finally I switched to an obgyn specialist who prescribed me Provera. I took the Provera for 10 days & by day 6 or 7 I had already began my period which lasted for 7 days. Two weeks after my period stopped I conceived my daughter. I highly recommend Provera for infertility problems!"

"I have PCOS, and I take Provera every 3 months in order to get periods. I take 10mg for 7 days, and then a few days later I have my period. When I first started it, I would only take it for 5 days. When I took it for 5 days, my period wouldn’t come for TWO WEEKS. But then when the doctor said to try it for 7 days, my period came on day 9 (two days after taking it). I have no side effects from it, other than it makes me really hungry. But that goes away after a week or so. Works like a charm. Highly recommend for PCOS with no periods."

"Didn't have a period for 1.5 years - was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and hypothyroidism. As hubby and I have been trying to conceive, not having any periods has been difficult to judge any ovulation. Was put on Provera to induce a period before doctor prescribes any ovulation mediciness. Took Provera for 10 days, didn't have any side effects. But after I stopped, I felt nauseous, breasts were very sensitive, was over emotional/very irritable, and a bit dizzy at times. Had light spotting on day 3 and 4 after stopping Provera, then period starting on day 5. Day 5 and 6 were light-medium, but then afterwards was extremely heavy for 2-3 days with really bad cramping."

"I have PCOS and haven’t had regular (if any at all) periods for 2 years since coming off the contraceptive pill. Doctor prescribed me provera for 10 days and 2 days after finishing this 10 day course, I got my period. During the 10 days I had a little breast tenderness, cramping and moodiness but very mild."

"I was on depo provera injection for 7 years, came off the injection and was missing my menstrual cycle for 7 months to follow. Husband & I are TTC, so OBGYN put me on provera 10mg x 7 days to strike my cycle. I had brown spotting lightly on day 6 and 7 after stopping provera, thought it didn’t work properly, called my doctor and got worried. Actual flow didn’t come until day 16 after stopping provera. The period was moderate, nothing extreme and lasted 3 days. We’re not quite sure if it was a provera withdraw bleed or my body getting back into function..but needless to say, it did something! Now hoping and waiting for a positive ovulation test! Be advised-It can take up to 3 weeks for a withdraw bleed from provera, give it some time!"

"Hello everyone! I just wanted to give a recent review in provera. Before I started provera tablets my issue was I didn't have a period for 4 months and I didn't understand why. My doctor tested my hormones and everything came back normal. I was so frustrated and confused because I didn't understand why my period had stopped. My boyfriend and I are trying for our third child, so not having a period was a big problem. Finally my doctor prescribed me provera. 1 pill for 10 days. After 3 days post taking the pill my period finally come yayyyyy!!! I was so nervous because reading the reviews had me feeling like the provera wasn't going to work. So I would recommend this medicine for anybody that have irregular periods or if your periods stop."

"Took 10mg Provera for 7 days for fertility reasons. Will NEVER take this medication again. I got such severe anxiety to the point where I ended up going to ER because I thought something was wrong with me. I have never had such emotional instability in my life. About 3 weeks after taking the last pill my panic attacks finally subsided. Also my vision is all messed up now and I am having muscle twitches. I did get my period, but was too bothered by all the provera side effects that I didn’t end up going through with the clomid."

"Took Provera 10mg for 7days. Then waited for withdrawal bleed which seemed like forever, by day 9 I called GYN panicked thinking it wasn’t working, she said it could take up to 14 days after taking last pill to work. Was getting discouraged, setup appointment with Gyn for 14th day to discuss my other options, BUT on day 11 I started my flow! Be patient unlike myself, it really does work! Will be taking Clomid again after 5 days which has given me more side effects in the past than Provera did. Took at night before bed with little side effects."

"I had irregular periods all through 2020, then 2021 I missed 4 periods in a row, I took provera 10mg for 10 days, On the 6th day after my last pill my period came, yay!!! but 9 days later I’m still bleeding, I don’t know how much longer I’ll have to bleed for, but the bleeding is normal with zero cramps. I recommend provera for every lady out there battling with Amenorrhea and irregular periods."

"I've always had VERY Irregular periods due to kidney failure. Im 22 years old and have went as long as 6 years without a period. The first time I was prescribed Provera I took 1 10 mg pill a day for 10 days. It took 2 weeks to get my period, I was so excited because I didn't think it was going to work for me. My period came back for 6 months without missing a beat, after it stopped coming I had to redose and I'd get it for another 6 months at a time. I was having the worst time falling but finally a miracle happened for me! If it wasnt for provera giving me my period Im almost certain I wouldn't be holding my baby girl in my arms. I would give it a 10 rating if it wasn't for me having to redose so often"

"Taking Provera was the worst decision I ever made. My period was very heavy. I was told by my OBGYN that it was going to delay my period but it made me worse than I was before taking it. Day 5 of my period and still a heavy flow. Still have pain. I found out after taking it I will have another period 3-7 days after having a 10 day cycle. I can’t have this much bleeding."

"I took provera because I have irregular periods and I was told it would help induce my periods. I took 10 mg for 10 days. I had a mild headache the first two days then my body got used to it. I had my period a day after my 10th pill and it was regular nothing abnormal. I would recommend it."

"PCOS and irregular periods..... I take Provera to start my period if it has been longer than 3 months (sometimes a little longer if I get too comfortable) I typically take one 10 mg pill daily x 7-10 days. If I take it for the full 10 days, I will start my period either a day after coming off the pill or within 3 days. If I take it less than 10 days, it usually takes anywhere from 3-14 days to start my cycle. I recently passes a kidney stone (ouch) which interrupted my provera schedule so I was only able to make it dose # 4. Today is day 11 after taking the last pill and I have started my cycle."

"I am 35 years old. No children, never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with PCOS IN 2014. I started taking this drug to jumpstart my period as it had been 3 almost 4 months without. My Dr. recommended I start birth control to try and regulate my period. I started this on April 15th. By April 22nd I started get pains on my upper right side almost cramping like near my rib cage. It’s been a week with these on and off again pains. I finished the medication on the 24th and started bleeding Tuesday. The pain still comes and goes. I am a little nervous as to what this could be. Anyone have this kind of experience with this drug?"

"So I was prescribed Provera because I haven’t had my period in over a year and I had to take it for 5 days. I’m not sure of the dose I think 5 or 10. I started on the 24th of July and stopped on the 28th. During the 5 days I was getting like PMS and light cramping. After I stopped, it took me 6 days to finally get my period and it was heavy. Like SUPER heavy. My periods are usually heavy so it didn’t really faze me and so were my cramps, but it’s horrible when you haven't had a period in a while, you kind of forget the pain. So I’m almost on day 9 of my period and the flow is still going strong. I’m worried it won’t ever stop. My cramps are so bad it radiates to my back and down my legs and it is constant all day, I don’t know what to do. My emotions are all over the place as well, I get in an uncontrollable rage and extremely sad throughout the day. Hopefully it stops."

I got my periods after 3 days discontinuing the pills. I even missed one pill still I got my period. "
