"I’m 36 and 8 months off of low estrogen birth control (took for 10+ years). I had relatively normal periods, 31-35 day cycles, and then 45 days and 50+ days. I’m healthy, other than being on the low end of the BMI for my height, and I have slightly elevated prolactin (having additional blood work after starting levothyroxine). I was prescribed Provera for 10 days. I experienced some cramping while taking it, but nothing unmanageable. I’m 6 days off it, and I have horrible nausea and stomach cramps. My sense of smell is also insanely strong. I have had a progesterone blood test three times and was told I most likely don’t ovulate. Hoping my menstrual cycle starts soon and isn’t too bad. Sending you all positive vibes."

"I took Provera for a missed period for 2 days, and I got my period. I’m so happy but wondering if I should keep taking it? I’m gonna stop, but I’m so grateful because I’ve never missed a period in my life."

"After having an irregular cycle and then losing it for 9 months, I was prescribed 10 mg for 10 days (every other day) for 3 months. It worked very well. I usually got it before the 10 days were up, and it didn't give me any side effects. However, after I stopped taking it, the irregular cycles returned, and after a few odd periods, I'm still waiting to get my next."

"Made my hair fall out. I was diagnosed with PCOS and given a prescription for Medroxyprogesterone/Provera. I was told to take the medication course once every 3 months. I did achieve my period, however, after my 2nd-3rd course, I started experiencing extreme thinning of my hair. My hair would shed so much, which led to bald patches in the middle and on the two sides of my hairline. I quickly realized and consulted my doctors, and I stopped taking them. A year later, I’m still struggling with the thin ends, however, my hair is growing back fuller now. Medroxyprogesterone/Provera causes hair loss, so please be careful, doctors know that we are desperate and just prescribe whatever."

"I went on Provera because my period did not come for 3 months. I was given a 10 mg 10-day supply. I am 24 years old, 5'1", with no health issues aside from being overweight and allergic rhinitis. I don't take any medication except vitamin supplements for women that are sold in grocery stores. I take Tylenol occasionally for a headache or muscle strain. I say all of this so you can judge for yourself. While on this medication, I experienced headaches, extreme uncontrollable anxiety, high blood pressure, hot flashes, and insomnia. I had to stop on the 6th day because my blood pressure was high, I'm talking 140s over 90s and it's NEVER that high. I exercise every day for hours, but it remained elevated. That combined with the uncontrollable anxiousness was overwhelming. I stopped the pills and since I just did it, I don't know if they worked. I contacted my OBGYN about it."

"I haven't had a period in years. I had my hormones checked, and everything came back normal. The doctor wanted me to try the Provera challenge. I'm on my 4th pill. I haven't had any side effects. I don't feel it's going to work. I don't have PMS. I don't have sore breasts. I don't have any cramps. I did take it at bedtime in case I feel drowsy, and none of that has happened. If I don't bleed when I finish these pills, then I either have hypothalamus issues or I went into ovarian failure :'-("

"I had irregular periods for 3 years, and when I went to the doctor, the doctor said I have polycystic ovary syndrome. She prescribed Provera 10 mg for 10 days. After taking it for 10 days, I saw my period. If you don't see your period, try Provera, it will help you regulate your period."
