"I’m 53 years old and haven’t had a period in 10 months. However, my doctor put me on Provera to make sure my uterine lining is completely shed. Do you think Provera is needed if I haven’t had a period in 10 months?"

"I took the Depo shot for a year and a half. I got off 5 years ago and still have had irregular periods, which isn't normal for me. After seeing an OB-GYN, she just told me to wait around and change my diet. Six months later, I'm still not having regular cycles. So I changed my OB-GYN, and I love her to pieces! She told me that she'll put me on the Provera 5-day challenge. I started yesterday, upon taking the pill, I already felt PMS symptoms, especially cramping. I'll update later as I'm going into my third day."

"I was given this pill to take because I stopped having a period for 6 months. Put me on this for 10 days, and the very first day of taking a pill, I spotted. Then light period for 5 days. Then the next month, no period. So started taking the pills again. Not till the LAST pill was there blood. It was light at first for 3 days, now I have been bleeding so heavy non-stop! I’ve been bleeding 10 days straight! Is something wrong? Called my doctor, and they were “busy,” said call back. Never did. I can’t stand that office."

"I was on the birth control pill for 11-12 years because I was having my periods in 6-8 months and was bleeding very heavily. Last year in August 2015, I stopped taking my pill and started using progesterone cream, black cohosh, vitex, etc., and my periods came on twice using this item. So my period did not come on for 3 months, and it finally started on Jan 1, 2016. Around the end of Feb 25, 2016, I went to my gyno to ask for Provera. I heard good stuff about this medicine online, and she wrote me a prescription for it. I took it on Feb 27, 2016, 10 mg for 10 days and five days off the pill. My period came on, it lasted about 7 days. Now it's almost time for the second round of Provera. Hope it works again."

"I hadn’t had a period in over 2 years and have suspected PCOS. I have been trying to get pregnant with my fiancé. I was given 10 mg for 10 days. While I was taking the tablets, I felt a little nauseous but nothing major. Afterward, I had really bad PMS. On day 4 after the last tablet, I started spotting. By day 7, I had heavy bleeding. Heavier than I have ever experienced in my life. It was brutal and messy. I’ve had a lot of accidents too. I’m now on day 9 of my period, and it’s just starting to ease up and will hopefully finish in the next week. Overall, it’s really effective, and it definitely works for me."

"I always had my regular period, but last year in 2020, I missed by 1 month and restarted naturally. Last month, I had protected sex and missed my period. Although it was confirmed that everything was okay, I was still scared as I missed my period for 10 days. I took 5 home pregnancy tests, all of which came negative, and went to the gynecologist. She advised me to take Provera 10 mg, 2 times for 5 days. As per her, periods should come within 3 days, if not, wait for more 7 days, else I had to do an ultrasound. I took the med as advised. Each day looked like ages for me. On the 4th day of my pill and on the 2nd day after taking the last pill, I had spotting. On the 3rd day after the last pill, Aunt Flo came. *sigh of relief*"

"The drug works for what it is supposed to do, but I had all kinds of side effects. I had hot flashes, mood swings, headaches, and some dizziness. I am taking Provera along with Clomid in hopes of having a baby. This is my second round, and it seems worse than the first one."

"It looks like a crime scene. That’s all I have to say. I bought a 48-count of pads. I’m on day 8, and I’m working on the second 48-count. So much blood, so much. Severe back pain for 7 days. Ruined panties, ruined sheets, ruined pants, ruined, ruined, ruined. Pray for the best for you all."

"I'm 18 years old, and ever since I've had my first period, it's been irregular. I've even been up to 6 months without it. It's my first time with Provera. I got my period two days after 10 days of taking the pill. The only side effects that I have had are that I've sort of had hair loss and frequent headaches. Other than that, I've always had PMS."

"This drug did the job, and that was to get my period to return. While taking the medication, I was nauseous and very anxious and emotional. I didn’t feel better until I finished the ten days of the medicine. When I was taking the medication, I honestly felt crazy the entire time. It took 7 days after the last pill for me to get my period. Like I said, it did the job, and the ends were worth the means."

"Today is my third day on Provera (generic). I have never taken this medication before, so we will see what happens. So far, I haven't had any other side effects besides a little bit of dizziness, it also gets me very tired. I hope this medication works for me like it has for others. I was prescribed Provera to try to restore my periods. I have never been regular but not so irregular either, if that makes sense... basically, I get a period every month (except last month), but I'm never sure when! I conceived my first baby naturally (5 years ago) without any medications, and now I can't seem to get pregnant naturally again."

"Took it to induce a period so that I could start Letrozole. It was prescribed for 5 days, and it worked! I started getting cramps by day 3 of taking it (mild) and got a period about 4 days after stopping it. I did not get a heavy flow like I expected from the reviews, it was just my normal flow. But the cramps were on a whole new level! I usually get lower back pain, but Provera made me have pelvic cramps for the first time in a long time. They weren't constant, but I made sounds and faces more than once, lol. I would say they were a solid 8/10. Completely worth it, it did its job."

"I have been taking Provera for 2 years or so. It has not let me down yet. I used to take 10 mg for 10 days, then my period came 3 days after, and it lasted 5 days. Now I have decided to take 10 mg for 5 days, and my period still comes 3 days after. My period only lasts for 4 days, though, which is great! The 2nd and 3rd day is heavy bleeding, but otherwise, it's definitely awesome!"

"My updated I wrote on here before.... Well, I have been taking Provera from February till June. My periods always come on time or a day early. It was making my cycle day 30-32-33, but now I'm supposed to get my period. Now it's not coming on. I'm on day 5 off the pill, and that’s when it comes on early in the morning. But nothing. I thought I was clear of pregnancy. I D.D. 10 days before my next period, which was about 3 weeks after my last period.."

"Stopped taking my BC in 2019, then didn’t have a period for 6 months, so decided to get my butt to the doctors. Prescribed me Provera, took it for 10 days, period came 3 days later, had period for 5 days, but then 7 days later I’m bleeding again. Took the pills all 2020, still continued to have two periods a month. Now it’s 2021, and I’m starting the Provera again. In 2020, I stopped taking the pills in November because I felt like it wasn’t working, but also the stress levels of my 2020 didn’t help. Not sure if the Provera helped me in the end."

"I have PCOS and have been TTC 6 years with no luck. I feel better when I have a period, so if I haven’t had one naturally in quite a few months, I get prescribed Provera, and it works the trick. I forgot which dose I was on, but I’m sure it was 2.5 or 5 mg for 5 days, and then 8 days later I have my period. I am going to ask about getting put on this every month because I think it really does my body good having a period regularly."

"I was prescribed this medication after being on birth control pills for X amount of years to protect myself from my uterus lining and not shedding due to my PCOS. After starting supplements and going off the birth control pills, still not getting my period, I was prescribed this medication for 10 days. It really does work. I got my period the day after stopping. It is normal to not have your period up to 2 weeks after the last pill. It does work. Side effects that I noticed was I was eating a lot more than I should. Other than that, 0 side effects."

"I have irregular periods and was diagnosed with PCOS, so my doctor prescribed me Provera 10 mg for ten days to induce my period. Two days before my last dose, I started spotting, then, on day three, I had heavy bleeding with clots and so much pain in my lower abdomen."

"Dr. Rx'd Provera after ending up in the hospital 12 hours after my period started. I bled so much that I was given a blood transfusion of 2 pints and stayed in the hospital for 2 nights. A little history: I had a tubal reversal in July 2020, and I never had a regular period since the procedure. OMG, Provera is my happy pill - I took Provera for 20 days, and I felt happy all the time and had no side effects. I did have cramps, but come to find out it was from my iron pills and because I was constipated, and nothing to do with my female reproductive area. So my Dr. changed my iron pills to one that is soft on the stomach. It’s been a month, and I had a light period that lasted for 3 days, and OMG, what a relief because it was 1. I was bleeding heavily, 2. I was spotting and bleeding for weeks, 3. I would miss a period for 2 months. I stopped taking Provera after the 20th day. I HONESTLY FEEL BETTER THAN EVER. I HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS! I’m calm and happy all the time, and I think I had a hormonal imbalance."

"Provera had been prescribed by my OBGYN because I haven't gotten my period for nearly 7 months. My last period was January 2021, so I've decided to go to an OBGYN. The medication is slightly expensive, it was prescribed to me for 10 days. I took it on time, and I did not start a period after 10 days. BUT after 2 days had passed, I started to see blood in my panty. It was very effective! ❤️ I highly recommend it. It helped me to finally bleed after so many months. Now, I am on my pill to treat PCOS because I have it on my right ovary. Tip: Take it at the same time every day to make it more effective."

"Have used Medroxy Provera 4 times now to instigate what is called a 'breakthrough' bleed due to severe amenorrhea caused by PCOS. First three rounds consisted of 5 mg per day for 14 days, wait anywhere between 5 to 7 days afterwards, to then start bleeding at around day 20 of the makeshift cycle. Fourth round the dosage was changed to 5 mg twice per day for only ten days, then wait another week, to start bleeding again on around day 20. Each time used, it has worked as intended, to force a breakthrough bleed to remove old cell lining and help prevent the risk of cervical cancer. Have only had a problem once where I finished the first breakthrough bleed, only to start up again a week after. However, the second bleed ended naturally, on its own at the usual 5-7 day mark. This medication has been helpful to ensure a breakthrough bleed, but it does not treat the cause, which is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. UK doctors' advice is to take every three months if not having natural periods."

"I have primary amenorrhea. I have never gotten my period unless I have used birth control. Basically, I have never gotten a period on my own. So imagine what it’s like trying to get pregnant. I have started taking Provera 10 mg for 10 days. I am on day five after getting off of Provera, and I’m scared that I won’t get my period and won’t be able to take letrozole, which is what is used to induce ovulation. Wish me luck."

"Given to induce shedding of lining as I do not get a regular period due to PCOS. Took 30 mg for 5 days (3 pills a day spaced out). I am on the 7th day where I have not taken a pill. No bleed yet, but little spotting every day. If you have mental health problems, they will be exacerbated. I have had crying spells for no reason and anxiety and extreme depression after stopping Provera. I have BPD, so I think that's also a reason why my mood is so bad. Just a warning to anyone with any mental health diagnosis or depression and anxiety. I don't think I'd be willing to go through this again."

"I had irregular periods for 3 years, and when I went to the doctor, the doctor said I have polycystic ovary syndrome. She prescribed Provera 10 mg for 10 days. After taking it for 10 days, I saw my period. If you don't see your period, try Provera, it will help you regulate your period."

"I'm on day 2, 10 mg for 10 days. Have not had a cycle in years. Every male doctor said it was in my head. Turns out it's PCOS. Intermittent cramping woke me up tonight. But if it means a cycle and a chance at a family, I'll trudge through."
