Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I took Latuda for a little over a year, and I had so many side effects. I was so tired all the time, I couldn't function at work, and I was a cashier. My throat got smaller, I would gag brushing my teeth, and I used to be able to take three pills at once without a problem. When I was on Latuda, I could barely swallow one, and I still gagged. I had memory loss and weight gain. I was miserable, and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized that it was Latuda. So, I got weaned off of it, and I felt ten million times better. I lost fifty pounds since I've been off of it, I can function again, my memory is slowly coming back, and I don't gag when I brush my teeth, and I can swallow more than one pill without gagging."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I started on 20 mg of Latuda for bipolar and anxiety disorder. I felt the same as I always do during the first week of starting Latuda. Then I upped it to 40 mg a week later, and about an hour later I felt super tired, dizzy, confused, slow heartbeat, and unaware of what was going on around me. To make it all worse, I had trouble sleeping. But I felt so weak, like I needed to sleep but couldn't. I'm unsure whether I should continue or discontinue it. Overall rating on this drug would be a 5. Those were terrible side effects, and they hit me hard."

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "I was told that Latuda is a better tablet than taking my older tablet, which is Stelazine 10 mg a day. The only side effect was that it made me tired all the time, and I was sleeping-that's all. So I'm now on 60 mg a day. I had side effects, bad ones, and the worse thing happened tonight. I have never in my life been so aggressive against my daughter and my husband. Never had I been like that on Stelazine. Never. My husband was in tears tonight because of my attitude and my aggressive behavior. I didn't feel any remorse whatsoever. Definitely not a good tablet for me. I have both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and depression. I don't care how hard it is to get Stelazine, but I'm going to go back on the Stelazine, it's so much better for me and my family."

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "I have depression (lifelong dysthymia) and anxiety and trouble falling/staying asleep. I've started Latuda to replace amitriptyline, in addition to Cymbalta and Buspar. I was taking amitriptyline for over a year, but it was no longer helping me fall asleep or stay asleep very long, nor helping my depression. At 20 mg of Latuda, I noticed no benefits for falling/staying asleep and kept taking 25 mg of amitriptyline with my other meds. It caused me to dream a lot of vivid dreams, which I enjoy because it is a much-needed break from reality. But unfortunately, there were no mood benefits. So the Latuda was doubled to 40 mg and amitriptyline was discontinued again. I've been sleeping much better and am still having crazy/fun/amusing vivid dreams. I think my mood has definitely improved too, but it is hard to tell. But now I am super tired when I get up and have fallen asleep again a few times today. I'm gonna give it 3 more weeks to see if my body can wake up a little more, or I'll ask to change Latuda to 30 mg. Aside from being tired, I actually do feel hopeful that this is working."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I started taking Latuda about 8 months ago when I got diagnosed Bipolar in the hospital after a manic episode. Initially, I felt very tired, numb, and had social anxiety. It has balanced me out, and I haven't felt more stable in my life. No crazy anger outbursts, no suicidal ideations, or impulsivity. The only downsides are the side effects. I have pretty bad social anxiety, and in the beginning, I was so exhausted, but now that has gone away: clenching of the jaw/teeth, shaky hands/head, I overheat. But the longer I take it, the more the side effects lessen. Overall, I would take the side effects over the horrible mental illness."

Lurasidone "Latuda needs to be taken off the market. I was prescribed it for depression. I am not bipolar, and it is for bipolar, so I am not sure why I was prescribed it. I had horrible symptoms while on Latuda and am going through a horrible withdrawal right now. It has ruined my life. Not enough is known about this drug's long-term effects, and so many people have adverse reactions. I wish I had researched it more. I told my doctor about my adverse side effects. I wanted to sleep all day, complete exhaustion where I thought I was dying from it, and at one time thought I needed to call the paramedics because no one could survive exhaustion like this. I had excruciating, horrible stomach aches and nausea. Same with headaches. Excessive sweating, face feeling like it’s swollen to the moon."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Suffered from bipolar depression (what they say) my whole life. It gets worse with different experiences, mimics things like ADHD, anxiety, etc. (so they say). Started Latuda 5 days ago. First day felt great, day 2 felt great, day 3 I slept 1.5 hours after a 10-hour day then did another 10 hours. The restlessness was unbearable, tried different beds, couch, different positions, baths. I had this incredibly strong energy that was dying to explode in every part of my body. It made me cry, punch, and scream into pillows. The next day I felt so tired and weak. I switched taking my 40 mg from at night to in the morning, we will see how this works."

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "Only been on it for a week and am feeling extremely miserable. It's hard to describe, but the only effect it has had is a couple hours after I take it I get this unbearable mental discomfort where I feel both exhausted and restless at the same time. It's driving me crazy! Other than that, it's had no other effect, positive or negative."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Have bipolar type II, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive traits. Latuda changed my life and made me more functional. The pros: clear-headed, focused, makes me wake up early in the morning, helps with going to sleep if taken at dinner. My weight gain was minimal (5 to 7 pounds). I am in my mid-thirties and walk every other day, work out 2x a week. I am 170 lbs. This drug helps me so much with suicidal ideations and boosts me. I barely notice the depression bouts anymore. My cycle is hypomania 10 days, 10 days depression, ten days euthymia. The cons: it doesn't work well for hypomania. I have chronic insomnia, and I feel slightly lethargic. I'm at 80 mg but will try to go down to 60 mg again. I tried Risperidone and Seroquel. Both utter failures. Give it a try."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Been on Latuda for less than 4 weeks. The first week, I felt my depression and anxiety symptoms lift. After that, I kept wondering why it felt like it was taking me so long to wake up in the morning. I am mentally exhausted, depressed, and feel very restless. I started taking it at night but felt I was still feeling foggy and tired all day long. Not for me."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "This was for my depression/anxiety. I have tried a few medications, and nothing seemed to be working for me. I’m on Effexor, Concerta, a low dose of Seroquel, and Latuda just recently. I started at 20 mg, but after a couple of months, my doctor increased it to 40 mg. With 20 mg, I was feeling pretty good, no side effects. I then had a bad week and was in the hospital and was then upped to 40 mg. I can tell a huge difference in myself with the increase. Genuinely pretty happy, but I had to switch my Latuda to bedtime because it makes me extremely tired. The first week I was taking it in the morning, and I had to leave work one day because I felt so unbelievably tired. I felt I was going to crash my car on the way home... definitely a powerful drug, but when taken correctly, it can do wonders."

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "I've been on it for about 12 days. I'm also on Luvox. So far, I don't see much benefit out of it. It's made me extremely tired and hungry, two things I hate to be. I'm really hoping with some more time it improves because my anxiety is horrible, and a few years ago I was into heroin and Xanax, so I don't want to fall down that road again. The Luvox definitely helped, but not enough. I'm also only on the 20mg of Latuda right now. How long do you think it takes to get the full effect?"

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "Started on 10 mg, increased to 20, then to 40. The blurry vision cleared up for the most part after a few months. Latuda definitely makes me feel better. Not 100%... but better. Having to take it with 350 calories is difficult, especially before bed, and the weight gain was pretty bad, but then I started taking calcium, magnesium, zinc and dropped the weight... weird... but it works. Just need to make sure the magnesium is maleate... others make me too tired."

Lurasidone "I have PTSD, severe depression, DID, and I've tried every med under the sun, was really hoping this would work. I ended up feeling so sick, even when taken with food. Constant dizzy spells and always feeling so tired. I was on 60 and cut back to 40. I quit taking it and now on another med."

Lurasidone "I have only been on Latuda for a short period of time so far. I don't like that I've been twitching. I get so tired from Latuda that I can't wake up the next day for hours (which is bad when you work), and also I have been unable to think about past memories that are sad. I don't know how to explain it, but I used to be able to think about my past sad memories and be upset, and now on Latuda, it feels I am unable to really hold on to the memory and think about it at all. It's like the drug doesn't let me get upset. I also have trouble thinking about things and analyzing them now."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I went to a mental hospital for suicidal thoughts, and they talked to me for 5 minutes. All I told them was bipolar runs in my family, so supposedly that means I have it. They put me on this med and went from 20 mg to 40 mg to 60 mg in the span of three days. Every day I told them I felt horrible. I’m skipping my dose tonight and want to get off this. It’s horrible. I experienced such bad akathisia and horrible anxiety. I felt like I was in a nightmare, and I've only been on it for a week. I've never felt so horrible in my life. I have horrible insomnia and exhaustion at the same time, but the inability to stop fidgeting. The doctor even knew I was having these problems and prescribed a med to help, but it didn’t, and I only felt worse. And never gave me the information on it before I took it. Do not take this med until you dig deeper and find all the side effects. It works for some, but sure didn’t work for me. Good luck, everyone. Live a full life!"

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I took Latuda for two months. It helped with the mania and crying spells, although it made me tired. I felt sluggish all the time. It worsens tardive dyskinesia. I felt restless at times and had severe anxiety. I worried about anything. I'm now on week three since quitting. The withdrawals were awful at first. I'm finally beginning to feel like myself again. I'm having headaches and mild depression, but so glad I quit. I wouldn't recommend this drug. The side effects and withdrawals are awful!!!"

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Was taking 30 mg and am now on 60 mg to treat bipolar depression. This medication helped my mania. I am able to think before I speak and be calmer than I was before. However, I noticed that it gave me anxiety when I went up to 60 mg. So, I make sure that I take it right before I go to sleep, so I can sleep through that. Also, the medication makes me feel sleepy. That’s why I take it at night, but I notice I am still tired throughout the day. Cymbalta is helping with that though."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Took this drug throughout half of 2020. All I can say is that while it did mellow me out, I was physically withered if I drank even a single glass of alcohol (socially). I get it, don't mix psych meds with alcohol... but I was experiencing more than mere drowsiness/CNS depression. It felt like a toxic mixture. After just one drink, I'd have to go lay down because I couldn't even sit upright. I wasn't intoxicated, just felt very weak and ill. It was a malaise I'd never felt before and haven't felt since. Definitely give this drug a shot if you think it would help. But for me, the painful exhaustion and discomfort after a glass of wine with dinner was enough to put me off this medication. Depakote was much better."

Lurasidone "My psychiatrist prescribed me Latuda due to me seeing things (they weren't sure if I had schizophrenia or psychosis, but they placed me on this medication for that as well as for the mood stabilizer effect). I also have depression. I am a person who's extremely weak to medication, and Latuda was my first real strong medication. It made me feel like a walking zombie whenever I took it, even lessening the dosage wasn't working. It greatly stabilized my depression, but I couldn't function. I experienced side effects as well, like my psychosis got worse, my anxiety heightened, and I was tired a lot. I took it for two months but had to stop. I love how the medication stabilized my depression, it was nice while it lasted. I would recommend this medication for depression."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Did not give it a full 10 because of tiredness, 45 min-1 hour after taking with food. I took it again after I had to stop all meds for surgery, and it made me confused/forgetful and forced me to Lithium. Along with hypothyroidism, they were dehydrating - dry eyes, hair breakage like straw, snapping it off! 2.5 weeks back on it and off the Lithium, I barely see hair on my floor. Tight muscles but no weight gain, energy to jog, slight difficulty staying asleep could be from Lithium withdrawal. Also take 50 mg Fluvoxamine for persistent/worrisome OCD-like thoughts and Trazodone up to 50 mg if I can't sleep. Also take Metformin 500 mg 3 times a day to counteract high cholesterol and blood sugar with Latuda. I'm grateful my doctor revisited Latuda again. Abilify made me hyper-sexual and impulsive so that I did risky things and was embarrassed a lot, not to mention in debt. I even won a settlement from the manufacturers of Abilify after 12 years on it because of that stuff in a lawsuit with hundreds of others."

"I was on Latuda 20 mg for treatment-resistant depression with debilitating suicidal ideation (I do not have symptoms of schizophrenia or bipolar depression). I was also taking Lamictal 100 mg x2/day. At first, Latuda seemed to help, but having to take it with a certain amount of calories meant I either had to take it at dinner or eat a big snack right before bed. It made me very tired, and I would be struggling to stay awake at 8 pm. Then akathisia began a few weeks after starting Latuda. It is similar to restless leg syndrome, except it's the whole body, and I felt a pervasive sense of doom. Whereas depression caused me to wish I didn't exist, akathisia made me feel as though I was dying. I had to get a Cogentin injection. However, it was not sustainable for me to continue a drug with side effects that needed to be combated by another drug that came with its own side effects. I came off Latuda with no issues after being on it for about 2 months."

For Bipolar Disorder "I just started taking this about a month ago, because there aren’t many medications I can take anymore for my bipolar, depression, dissociative identity disorder. I had a severe allergic reaction to Wellbutrin after almost five years of taking it and it working perfectly, and that landed me in the psych ward after a few months out. I just upped to 40 mg and while I’ve been having good days intermittently, the suicidal thoughts are hard to ignore. I’ve always had weird reactions to anything antipsychotic and I’m thinking this might be an adjustment period, but I’m so numb inside and still so just sick. I can’t get out of my own way, my brain fog is horrible in the first place with my chronic disabilities, but it’s worse. My chest always has this hollow sadness, but it’s way more gaping than usual, and my intrusive thoughts seem to be weirder. It did help with shutting up the outer voices and my one negative alter, but it’s rendered my other, quite lovely alters exhausted and brought their social anxiety back."

Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "40 mg for schizoaffective disorder: Somewhat improved my paranoia, insomnia, and intrusive thoughts. However, it made my body feel extremely tense and agitated. I can hardly describe how horrendous this feeling was, like every cell in my body was screaming, like I needed to physically explode. I would try to pace around to relieve it, but nothing worked, and I felt exhausted at the same time, so I would lie down, but the feeling was unbearable, so I would get right back up again. It was maddening. My pdoc gave me a beta blocker to make it go away, but that didn't work. After a month on this med, I just quit it cold turkey as I was terrified of it, felt like I could not handle one more night of feeling that way."
