For Bipolar Disorder "I asked my doctor about this one after reading all the reviews. I was really surprised by everyone's experience and was hoping it would be the miracle I was searching for. Now I'm mostly jealous that it's worked for so many people but not for myself. I was on 40 mg, and it just made me feel tired all the time and like a zombie. I have no clue how people take it in the morning because I took it at midday once, and I was so incredibly sedated for the rest of the day, it wasn't great. It's definitely worth a shot if you want to try it, but be aware that it still may not be the right medication for you. There's definitely fewer side effects, but I couldn't handle the sedation any longer and got sick of feeling insanely apathetic after two months. Good luck."

"Works very well. I'm taking Latuda 40 mg with 40 mg Prozac and 50 mg Trazodone at night. I have been on a good few antidepressants before and have taken Abilify (ineffective) and Seroquel (very effective but gained 30 pounds). After refusing Zyprexa and Risperdal for weight reasons, I was prescribed Latuda. Hallucinations have decreased, and I have not had a serious bout of psychosis since starting. I do feel pretty drowsy after taking it and suffer from akathisia, especially at night. My insomnia became significantly worse, but Trazodone works fine. Side effects are pretty bad, but the medicine has helped and doesn't make me gain weight. It may be the Prozac, but I find it very difficult to eat 350 calories to take the drug. Works well though."

For Bipolar Disorder "Was giving this drug to control emotions that were suppressed for 20 years of abuse and trafficking. The first 2 weeks were great. More positive emotions, panic attacks were low, then I had a PTSD trigger, and it's like the medication did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. My moods became more depressed, erratic. No positive outlook, not at a point of suicidal but close. I was sleeping constantly when taking this drug as well. Went from taking 40 mg and feeling paralyzed in my own body to taking 20 mg and feeling somewhat like a human being. I am also taking Ambien 7.5 mg. They took me off Latuda earlier this week and placed me on Xanax 0.5 mg, and I can already tell a difference: more positive and upbeat, also gained 20 lbs in 2 months on it."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "Took this drug throughout half of 2020. All I can say is that while it did mellow me out, I was physically withered if I drank even a single glass of alcohol (socially). I get it, don't mix psych meds with alcohol... but I was experiencing more than mere drowsiness/CNS depression. It felt like a toxic mixture. After just one drink, I'd have to go lay down because I couldn't even sit upright. I wasn't intoxicated, just felt very weak and ill. It was a malaise I'd never felt before and haven't felt since. Definitely give this drug a shot if you think it would help. But for me, the painful exhaustion and discomfort after a glass of wine with dinner was enough to put me off this medication. Depakote was much better."

For Schizophrenia "I first took this drug in July 2016 and stopped cold turkey in February 2017 when I was 15. I took it for extreme paranoia and bipolar. I had to take 60 mg each day, even before school, which made me feel like a zombie. I kept falling asleep randomly. I had extreme restless legs and anxiety. I would hyperventilate when it was time for me to take it. I lost 50 lbs (I went from 160 to 109) in a short period of time, so that was both exciting and disturbing. I stopped on February 9, 2017, as it made me so sleepy that I fell down the stairs at school. NEVER AGAIN!! Now I’m on Zoloft, Depakote, and I get a risperidone shot every month. 2/10 for Latuda."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on Latuda for a little over four years. It has helped my mania but did nothing for the depression. I now have tardive dyskinesia and am going to stop taking it. I was put on a very high dose (120 mg), this angers me that they didn't lower it after my mania subsided. It caused me to gain 50 pounds and I have obstructive sleep apnea now because of it. I just hope the tardive dyskinesia, which became apparent when it was lowered to 80 mg, will not be permanent. I have been on about 6 or so different antipsychotics and they all made me exhausted. I'm so tired of being sedated, it's like I have no reason to live. This all started with involuntary commitment. I get up, sit on the couch, eat, go to bed, repeat. These drugs have ruined my life. I'm going to try natural therapies this time. The only problem with that is I eventually relapse and end up in the hospital with psychosis. Just tired of the whole mental health scam. Let me be me."

For Bipolar Disorder "Been on 20 mg in the morning for five days. My doc prescribed it for depression. It did work in the way that after a couple of days I started feeling motivated and could get up from bed. Did enjoy doing things this week. Have a bit of a headache and also today I noticed I was feeling very drowsy almost to the point of getting out of the car as I was unable to drive. But I take clonazepam and buprenorphine for maintenance treatment of addiction, so don't know how it's interacting with these meds and therefore my drowsiness. So far so good, but if I keep feeling drowsy will have to discontinue. Keep positive!!"

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "I was diagnosed with rapid cycling bipolar disorder and began taking Latuda (20 mg for 5 days, 40 mg for 4 days, then 60 mg once daily). About a week after I had gotten to the 60 mg dose, I developed a generalized, itchy rash (most prominent on my forehead, upper back, and arms), so my doctor and I agreed to discontinue the medication as it was most likely an allergic reaction to the medication. I do feel that, in the short time I was on it, Latuda did help control my mania/hypomania, but I didn’t feel it helped with the depressive episodes. I did experience nausea/vomiting once when I took the 40 mg dose on an empty stomach, and I also noticed eyelid twitching while on the 60 mg dose. I did find it a bit difficult to take the medication with at least 350 calories worth of food because I’ve been dealing with a loss of appetite due to the depression. The medication also made me extremely drowsy, so I preferred to take it right before bedtime."

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "The worst psych med I've ever taken. Totally debilitating. It made me want to sleep all the time. I had to leave work to sleep. I could hardly function."

For Bipolar Disorder "I started this medicine 4 days ago, 20 mg, and have had nightmares ever since... demonic ones. The first nightmare, my chest was hurting IN MY DREAM, and I woke up to it hurting, and I was sweaty. I felt uncomfortable the whole night and restless. I had to sleep with my light on. I woke up last night shouting over and over again. Sometimes I've woken up talking in my sleep. I've not done this in a long time. I think it is the Latuda. I also take Prozac and lamotrigine. But this is just awful. I even wake up so groggy, not wanting to get up."
