Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "If you suffer with occasional constipation like me and you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, then this is a great medication. It is very safe with very little side effects that most women will already go through, like headaches, random nausea, and dizziness. I take this medication 2-3 pills twice a day, and I feel so much better being on this medication. It isn't normal to go a day or two or three or even a week, like what used to happen to me, without having a bowel movement. This medication will help you release all that waste you need to. It works great for me. IBS is not a fun condition, but I guess it's just for all of us lucky people to struggle with and experiment trial and error. Give Amitiza a try, it really works. Good luck!"

Lubiprostone for Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Constipation "For over twenty years, I've had issues with my stomach. Mainly constipation in spite of drinking plenty of water and a high-fiber diet. I've relied on eating five servings of fruits and three veggies a day and, of course, lots of liquids. I've been seen by lots of specialists until recently I was prescribed Amitiza 8 mg. I tried it for two weeks, then tried the 24 mg as instructed by my doctor and found that the lower dose works better. I'm able to defecate at least once a day now, but I have experienced headache, nausea, and slight dizziness. Overall, I do recommend it."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I took the other reviews here with a grain of salt, and I wish I hadn’t. Do yourself a favor and clear your schedule before taking this medication. It completely knocked me off my feet. Insane dizziness and nausea. I’m so sick I can’t even talk. I wish I had never taken this medication and definitely won’t be taking it again. I’d take constipation over this. It was extremely expensive as well, and now I see is a waste of money since I can’t even use it without puking my brains out. (I’m also not prone to nausea from medications, which is even more shocking to me that this drug did this to me)."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Almost immediate extreme nausea and dizziness. Had to be almost dragged into bed. Couldn't stand up. Cold sweats. My cardiologist called to see why an extreme drop in my blood pressure flagged my heart monitor. My internist had given me samples. I would not take even one more pill for any amount of money. Returning to the doctor!!!"

Lubiprostone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I took the first dose and thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. I got very flushed. I felt like my body was on fire. I got very faint and was soaking wet from head to toe. My husband had to carry me to bed because I couldn’t even stand up. I fell asleep (passed out?) and slept for 6 hours. Got up and still felt very unsteady. Had some water and slept for another 9 hours. I’m never EVER taking it again."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "During surgery to correct a prolapsed bladder in May 2017, my urogynocologist tightened the vaginal area (cystocele?) and then did a rectocele without my permission, as he never mentioned it when I was diagnosed. This has led to severe constipation and nausea, so my family doctor prescribed Amitiza 24 MCG, two per day. It helped me have a bowel movement within 24 hours, but now I feel somewhat dizzy and my blood pressure is up. Has anyone else had a rectocele that caused constipation?"

Lubiprostone for Opioid-Induced Constipation "I've been in a drug abuse treatment program with Suboxone for three years. I take a low dose and had eventually worked through the constipation once my body adjusted to the daily meds. Then, about a year and a half ago, the constipation started again. Naturally, I tried OTC laxatives, which didn't work. I spoke with my doctor, and he put me on Amitiza. I can say that I do go daily now. I still have to add a natural laxative and fiber supplements to my regimen, though. These things by themselves don't work for me, but together they do. Here's my issue, though. I get very dizzy and nauseous after taking my morning dose. I take it with my breakfast and plenty of water. Some days, the side effects are worse than others, and sometimes I don't have any at all. Currently, I'm flat on my back, and my whole day is shot because of these meds. This isn't my first go-around with an OIC med. I just want to be regular without feeling sick all the time!!"

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I've been on Amitiza for a while now for IBS. I was on the 8, then the 24. It worked for a little while. Then constipation started for months, dizziness, bloating, weight gain, overeating, severe sweating, heart races fast at times. I ended up in an ER visit, they thought I had a blockage. I called the doctor again, told him my reactions, the nurse said to stop taking it, so I stopped Amitiza."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "My doctor gave me Amitiza and Linzess in his office to take for chronic constipation. Within 10 minutes, I went to the bathroom all over myself, and then came the severe diarrhea. I went over 50 times in 5 hours. I had a headache, nausea, and stomach pain. I started getting dizzy and briefly passed out. Called the nurse, and she said to call the ambulance. I got to the ER, waited 5 hours, then got rehydration. It was awful. I told my doctor, and he said to just take Linzess if needed."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "Second day on this pill... severe diarrhea. I'm a dialysis patient, so constipation is part of many pills. I think I'm still afraid of going outside, thinking of the use of the restroom, dizziness, and weakness. Good for emergencies, but still thinking if someday I will be back to normality with no pills at all."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "I took Amitiza 8 mcg for chronic constipation. It did help as not much does. But the side effects made it impossible to continue. I took it for 3 weeks and was constantly feeling unwell and had dizziness issues. At 3 weeks, I stopped taking it and the nausea feeling left right away. But it is 2 weeks later and I am having even worse dizziness yet. I never had dizzy spells. I'm worried this didn't go away and seems worse."

Lubiprostone for Chronic Idiopathic Constipation "The first time I used this, it worked like a charm. But by the second time, I experienced the worst symptoms ever, it was more than the nausea. I had a chronic migraine for a week straight, and I felt extremely dehydrated. I was drinking 4 water bottles daily and had to switch to Gatorade because water was not enough. I also had extreme cramps throughout the whole day, I was afraid to leave my house. I figured it was my body getting used to it, so I took it once more, and I got extreme dizziness and the worst heart palpitations ever. What I’m assuming is that since this medication draws water into the intestine, it literally acts like a sponge and dehydrates you, which can be the main factor for all these horrible symptoms. I might switch to Linzess, but that causes severe diarrhea."

For Constipation, Chronic "I was on the toilet, feeling like I was about to throw up while pooping. When I got up, I felt so damn dizzy. My hearing went out! Yes! I was dehydrated as anything. Linzess is the real deal. Not this stuff. Oh, it works, but it's not worth the side effects."
