"Lithium is the best mood stabilizer I’ve tried as long as I’m on a moderate or low dose. I was on 600 mg, which worked but still had some paranoia, and my Dr bumped me up to 900 mg. I was too tired after that, so I'm going back to 600 mg. It does work well to avoid extreme moods and anger too, and it helps a lot with impulsivity, which is nice."

"Lithium has finally pulled me out of a constant rapid cycling mixed state, which consisted of depression, paranoia, psychosis, agitation, and extreme anxiety. I occasionally feel poorly in hot environments, nausea, and dizziness. I think I get some fluid retention in the heat I didn't get prior to lithium. I was very unwell before starting this drug, and it has made me feel a lot better mentally, more stable, and calmed down."

"Lithium has definitely been a lifesaver for me. I've been taking lithium for about four months and finally feel normal. Besides the side effects of extreme thirst and weight gain, I can deal with it. I just love the fact that I have my life back."

"I like this medication a lot, along with risperidone, to help with my mental health symptoms, including anxiety. After going to a much-needed inpatient hospital unit, I was able to be put on the right pills and feel so much better. I have less anxiety, mania, racing thoughts, anger, self-harm, and better weight control. I wish I could have taken this much sooner."

"Lithium literally saved my life. Fortunately, I am not dealing with a lot of side effects. I had some extreme nausea and trouble keeping down food or with appetite in general during the first month or so, but since then I have not experienced that. It's been really wonderful and also has just generally elevated my mood and fixed some unrelated sleep problems. Hard to imagine life without it."

"I had psychotic symptoms and rapidly fluctuating symptoms despite taking Lithium. Lithium also caused me to wake up in the middle of every night to pee and to not be able to hold pee for long. 1800 mg (900 Extended Release twice a day) got my lithium blood level to 0.9 which was recommended for anti-manic effect."

"Great experience with 150 mg of lithium. Worked to completely stabilize me. I'm so relieved. Wish I had tried it sooner. The other psych meds didn't work for my schizoaffective bipolar."
