For Dry Eye Disease "Side effects from Xiidra are pain behind the eyeball (pressure), dull headache, dizziness, fuzzy vision, throat coughing, and drainage at the back of the throat. This is for a very expensive lesson stopped. I will ask others what they use, then try again. Tried a couple of days. It was too much, it made me jittery."

For Dry Eye Disease "Would definitely not recommend this product. Immediately following my first dose of one drop in both eyes, I experienced pain in my eyes, headache, and blurred vision. It’s been 24 hours and no change. A waste of $45.00, and hoping the side effects clear up soon. I will be reporting my experience to the FDA and my pharmacy."

For Dry Eye Disease "I just got these drops today. They seem to lubricate my eyes, but I have an intense headache and burning in my throat. I also feel nauseous. The doctor originally prescribed Restasis, but the insurance company did not go for it. I cannot tolerate the headache from Xiidra, so I will use OTC drops until insurance lets me try Restasis. I had high hopes for this medication, but it is not for me."

For Dry Eye Disease "I had high hopes for Xiidra. The drops did produce tears, which made my eyes feel better. However, they also gave me an unbearable headache. I also experienced burning in my nose and throat. The headache, however, was absolutely the worst. I cannot continue to take Xiidra. I am so disappointed, and I still have no solution for my painful dry eyes. I will ask my Dr. to try to get Restasis approved by my insurance company. Has anyone had good results without side effects with Restasis?"

My husband is a family physician, his advice was: stop it immediately. I understand now why they give me a 1-month supply of Xiidra for free. Will try Restasis."

"I have Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and was on Restasis for the last few years. I’m 30 and have never really found something that works well to totally treat it. I take fish oil, sauna, hot compresses, and gel drops. Started Xiidra a week and a half ago, so far, my eyes feel better, but there is a stinging for a while and blurriness. Started getting a headache and pain in my left tear duct, excessive tearing, and kind of sticky lid with blurry sight. Will have to continue to assess it and follow up with my eye doctor if it doesn’t get better."

For Dry Eye Disease "Had the same burning and blurriness as others have stated after using Xiidra. First day seemed to work. But every time I used Xiidra, I noticed a nervous, jittery feeling come on me 10 minutes after applying drops. Then a headache in the top of my head. And after 3 days, I noticed my cheeks were swollen and red. I am stopping Xiidra and going back to OTC Rohto Eye Drops for dry eyes."

For Dry Eye Disease "These drops were recommended to me by three ophthalmologists, making me wonder if they are getting some kind of kickback from the manufacturers of Xiidra. I have experienced stinging, blurry vision, itchiness, and actual pain, so I quit using them until advised to start again by one of my eye doctors. In the past two weeks, I have developed headaches that were at first only occasional but are now constant. I wish I had read some of these reviews first. I will definitely not be continuing their use."

For Dry Eye Disease "I tried Xiidra for one week (twice a day), but I have to stop. I have constant headaches, and I am very dizzy (it feels exactly like vertigo, which I have experienced in the past). I don't even know if it helped with the dry eyes because I have been using FreshKote every three hours anyway, and I didn't stay on it very long, but the dizziness and headaches make it impossible to function. Fortunately, I never spent money because I got a sample from my doctor, so I will not be filling that very expensive prescription."

"I have autoimmune arthritis, ocular hypertension, and seasonal eye allergies, and all cause dry eyes. I have used every OTC tear drop, gel, and ointment, and lid scrubs, and I run a cool mist humidifier while sleeping. Constant burning and stinging, feeling like my eyelids were stuck to my eyeballs, and cloudy, blurred vision. For years I looked like I had been crying all the time or drunk! I started Xiidra about 3 weeks ago, and it is helping a lot! Yes, it stings for a moment. I have also gotten a slight headache after use, but that is getting better as I get used to the drops. No problems using Xiidra with my pressure drops, just wait 10 mins between. So far I am happy. Glad insurance covers it, I have a $50 copay for a $600 prescription."
