For Underactive Thyroid "I'm hypothyroid and skinny as a rail and cannot even gain a single pound, 58 yo, 5'6", 88 lbs, thyroid damaged through radiation, have been on Synthroid/levothyroxine 50 mcg daily, and I notice no change at all, still no energy, still totally exhausted 24/7, still losing weight like crazy with a relatively healthy appetite. However, since I totally trust my oncologist, I keep taking them."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have my hair, eyebrows, and lashes. I retain water. I feel tired often. But I sleep fine. Mood is stable. Weight is about 10 lbs over where I'd like to be, but not bad. Without this medication, I would feel way worse. I've been on it for 20 years. It's not perfect, but I can't live without it."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Took 1.0 right after surgery for ten years. Then, specialist concerned it was too high. Conservative drop to 0.95, then dropped to 0.88. When dropped to 0.88, I was very tired, put on 5 lbs in 5 days. Was a Weight Watchers person, has lost 20 pounds, took me ten months to lose 20. Then, change in dosage, gained 5 pounds, added steps up to 20,000 a day, and cut portions back more. Finally, ten months later, have kept 20 pounds off. I worked hard to do this since the change from 0.95 to 0.88 made me very tired. Now they want to drop it to 0.65? I am still tired, constipated, and do not understand why if I am borderline. Whatever that means. Why would you stop it to 0.65? Very disappointed. Have moved to Clovis, California, will have to find a new doctor. Change in meds really stressed me."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had a blood test 3 weeks ago, and I knew something was wrong. The doctor prescribed this to me. I don't know my numbers. I'm taking 25 mcg. I was tired before, but now I feel like I'm dead. Too bad you can't take this medicine at night. I never had a puffy face, but the cold bothered me a little. Very dry skin that developed over the winter. I used to have Addison's disease, which was easier to check with a simple prick of the finger."

For Hashimoto's disease "43-year-old female, 5'7", 76 kg. I used to be 56 kg, and in a matter of 2 years, I reached 80 kg after quitting smoking. I also had a plethora of other problems, among which were lethargy, extreme fatigue, and depression. My doc discovered by accident my TSH was 10, plus huge antibody values. Started me at 50 mcg Synthroid and I went up from there. I am now at 175 mcg, a huge dose, and feel fantastic. My blood values are low, TSH, upper limit T4. I kind of talked my doc into increasing the dose, as his choice was 125 mcg and I felt that was too low. I finally have the energy to go to the gym. I feel like my old self. I LOVE Synthroid and I hope he won't lower it for me."
