For Underactive Thyroid "Was switched to Euthyrox 4 months ago from levothyroxine at Walmart pharmacy. This change was made without my doctor's approval. I was told it was the very same medicine I had been getting before. It is not the same medication. I have begun having extreme dizzy spells, severe anxiety, and shortness of breath. I've been on the same dose of levothyroxine for over 10 years, and now my levels are extremely high. I'm experiencing an overdose of levothyroxine. My doctor has prescribed a lower dose and wanted me to go back to taking the original levothyroxine. I went to Walmart this morning to pick it up, and they filled it again with Euthyrox. They talked me into keeping it. After reading these comments, I am not going to be taking this brand! I will be calling the FDA and Walmart Headquarters on Monday morning!"

For Underactive Thyroid "Euthyrox is a horrible medicine! I've been taking levothyroxine for a few years without any problems from Walmart pharmacy. The last time I had my prescription filled, they gave me Euthyrox, and I noticed right away that it was new medicine and talked to the pharmacist about it. He told me they were running a short supply of the levothyroxine and Euthyrox was the same as the levothyroxine. I came home with the new medication and gave it a try. Since starting the new medicine, I have had hives, angioedema, and anxiety now going on a month. I called Walmart, and they immediately filled my levothyroxine, and they told me the two medicines had the same ingredients but different inactive ingredients, and that was probably why I was breaking out with hives/angioedema. I have been off of the Euthyrox for almost a week and still having hives. They are some better, but I'll be so glad when they are gone. I won't be trying new medicine again. I'd rather not take any at all."

For Underactive Thyroid "So I have been taking Levothyroxine for the last 14-ish years. I get my script filled by Walmart, and for some reason, I started to get this brand. Since I've been taking it, I have had all the following side effects: irregular heartbeats, shortness of breath, nervousness. I actually went to the doctor, and she lowered my dose since my thyroid levels are now off. My dose was lowered from 125 to 112. I was using my older 112 from an older script and started to feel better within about a week. When I ran out, I started to take this brand at a lower dose, and within 2 days, I am back to the horrible side effects. I will not take this brand anymore... I called the pharmacist, and they are going to see if they can get my old brand back, or I will switch to another pharmacy! I will not take any more of this medication."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I just stumbled across this site because I am looking for the cause of extreme hair loss, which started a few months ago. My hair started shedding heavily in the summer and just got worse. Comes out in strands. I thought it was just stress, but I started wondering if something I was taking caused it. Then I remembered a few months back WM pharmacy substituted my regular Levothyroxine with Euthyrox. Had WM print my meds out for the last 2 years. I was given 90 days of Euthyrox early August 2020. Now I'm wondering if some other symptoms, like high anxiety, were caused by the change. Will not accept it again."

For Underactive Thyroid "My experience is very similar to most complaints about Euthyrox. I was on a different generic (I am not sure of the manufacturer, but the usual color-coded variety). Same deal, Walmart just arbitrarily changed the script. I DID protest when I received it but was assured it was the 'same.' I was on this drug for approx. 2 weeks, and I started feeling horrible. Depression, anxiety, tremors, and dangerous high blood pressure. I ended up in the ER with sustained BP of 220/110. This lasted for several hours. I went cold turkey (I am on 50mcg), and it took about 4 days to feel somewhat normal. I told ER docs to check my TSH, it was down to .2 from about 1.8. It should be pulled from the market. Incredibly dangerous drug."

For Underactive Thyroid "Walmart switched my meds without even asking. My levels before were always in range, TSH had never been above 4.56 in 15 years. I was on Euthyrox for only 6 weeks before I went for labs and found out my TSH level skyrocketed to 13! I was having anxiety attacks and just not feeling myself. It was as if I had stopped taking my medication! This company should be sued for all the pain and suffering!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have taken levothyroxine for 38 years with no issues. Lately, I have been having severe anxiety, body aches, and my hair was falling out. All of these things could be from other issues, and I didn't connect the dots. I was refilling my med pack, and a light went off. The last time I had my prescription refilled, Walmart filled it with Euthyrox. I went online and started reading the reviews and side effects. I have experienced nearly all of them! I have been testing for food and detergent allergies, as I have had lip and mouth swelling, hives, itching. I called my old pharmacy and am going to pick up my old med. Do not use this! I am just hoping that things will get back to normal."

For Underactive Thyroid "My pharmacy went out of business, so I went to a pharmacy close to me. I had been on (Synthroid) Levothyroxine 88 mcg for years. This new pharmacist had given me Euthyrox 88 mcg, and within a few hours, I started getting nervous. Shaking so bad I could not work, talk (voice became shaky), I could not think straight. My child had to pick me up from work and take me to the EMS building to get checked out. My B/P was 200/90 and had an irregular heartbeat."

For Underactive Thyroid "This stuff is horrible. Walmart switched my med against my doc's orders, he had it stated I was only to take a specific brand name. Walmart then refused when my doc reasserted I was only to take a specific brand because of the side effects I've had with generics. Walmart still refused, so out of desperation, at this point, I'd been without my thyroid meds for nearly a month, I let them switch my prescription to Euthyrox. It has been awful, I feel exhausted and cold, with foggy brain and blurry vision as if I'm taking nothing. Yet I have the side effects of being overmedicated: high blood pressure, aches, irritability, anxiety, heart palpitations. This stuff is garbage! I'm pretty sure this must be yet another junk item Walmart imports. I'm now looking into switching pharmacies."

For Underactive Thyroid "I have been on Levothyroxine for 25 years with no issues or side effects. Was given Euthyrox at Walmart back in July 2021 instead of my usual Levothyroxine. When I questioned it, I was told that they were exactly the same. After about 4 weeks on this medication, I started to experience weakness and trembling in my arms, legs, and shoulders, pain in my knees, legs, hips, and shoulders, rapid heartbeat, nervousness, anxiety, restlessness, bloating, fuzzy feeling in my head, and my feet and hands being cold all the time. I found all of these reviews and stopped taking the Euthyrox the next day. I have been back on Levothyroxine for 2 weeks now, and the side effects have subsided, but my arms and legs still feel strange, and I still have pain. This medicine has made the last 2 months of my life a living nightmare."

For Underactive Thyroid "I had a bad experience with Euthyrox. I had extreme anxiety, weight loss, and fatigue. I have changed to a different generic of levothyroxine, and I feel much better. I would rate Euthyrox a 0 if I could."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "This stuff is awful. Had thyroid removed November 17th, 2022. It took a while to get my levels normal. When they finally were normal, I felt terrible. Chest pains, anxiety, going from cold to burning up, insomnia, loss of focus, and so much more. Through the grace of God, I found this website. The doctor immediately changed my medication when I showed him what I found. It is really bad and makes you feel out of control because you can't slow your heart down or do anything about the anxiety. I have been off of it for 3 days, and I am praying the side effects go away soon. If you are having these problems, take a deep breath and give yourself a break. Exercise was the only thing that would help, but the chest pain, fast heartbeat, and anxiety would come right back. Tell the people around you so they can give you a break. It makes everything really hard, and the smallest thing will frustrate you, and then you feel worse. Try to remember it's the medicine and not you, and it will get better."

For Underactive Thyroid "Please do not take this medication. My pharmacy switched me from Levothyroxine to Euthyrox, and since then I've been having anxiety, fatigue, loose bowels, extreme sweating, muscle aches, and pains. Called the pharmacy today, had them switch me back to Levothyroxine. Hopefully, this will help."

For Underactive Thyroid "When my doctor upped my dosage from 50 mcg to 75, Walmart gave me this box instead of the bottle of a 3-month supply at once. Euthyrox. I've never been completely happy with the hypothyroid meds, as I've never gotten rid of my symptoms of hypothyroidism. My dosage is too low, and my doctor won't listen to me. My last test showed my blood level at a 2.8. The 'normal' range being 2.4 - 4.2. Being that low is NOT okay for me as a woman still of childbearing age, and my hair loss has not let up at all, like it should if I was on the right dosage for my body. But since June 24, 2021, when I was switched to this Euthyrox, I'm even more miserable. I didn't realize the side effects were so bad from what I'd been on previously. I started doing research in March, and everything I've found has not been good for Euthyrox. My symptoms/side effects have been shortness of breath, muscle spasm, headache, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, tremors, muscle weakness associated with Euthyrox. No more of this rubbish."

For Underactive Thyroid "Awful. Walmart switched me to this from my normal levothyroxine. I have felt horrible for the last 2 weeks. Extreme fatigue, achy joints, anxiety, etc. I realized this is the only thing that has changed, so I called them to refill my normal levo. Beyond frustrated that they switched me. Hopefully, I start feeling better soon. I'm not sure how they can even do this."
