For Underactive Thyroid "Pharmacy gave me Euthyrox instead of Levothyroxine (generic). I didn't think it would make a difference, so I have been taking it for several months. Kept feeling worse but didn't connect it to the meds. To the point now I can barely function - arms hurt so bad, so tired I can hardly make it through my day, headache, etc. Called pharmacy to see why they switched it. She said, 'That is just what Walmart sends us. Lots of people have been complaining and switching back.' So, so am I! Hope I start feeling better soon. Shame on you, Walmart, for switching people's meds without a doctor's request!"

For Hashimoto's disease "This drug is causing all kinds of awful issues. My hair is falling out, I'm completely exhausted, want to sleep all day/night, can't think straight, can't make it through my work day, loose stools, headaches, cold. Increased heart palpitations. I feel exactly as I did when I wasn't taking anything."

For Underactive Thyroid "Horrible drug. Almost landed in ER. Been taking Levothyroxine, generic for Synthroid, for years, a little yellow oval pill with no issues. Called for a refill at Walmart. Arrived home to find boxes of blister packs. Definitely not my normal pills, which came in a pill bottle. Called Walmart and asked about this drug Euthyrox by Merck in Germany. Person who answered the phone said exactly the same, no worries. HE WAS WRONG. Didn't put 2 & 2 together for over 3 weeks as I became sicker, my side effect symptoms were brain fog, strange headache all day, every day, dizzy, heavy pulse in my neck, sudden heatwaves, unsteady on my feet, vision weird, and exhausted. Figured out it was due to changing to this manufacturer. Many reviews from people who experienced the same side effects after Walmart changed to this manufacturer. Walmart should have said something. Doctor gave me a prescription for the old Levo. Immediately stopped taking Euthyrox. Today is the 4th day back on the old pills. 90% better. Called Walmart Corp. & FDA. NOT LIKE OTHER GENERIC LEVOTHYROXINE."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was switched from my levothyroxine a few months ago. There was a doctor's name associated with it that I have never seen or heard of. I was given Euthyrox, and I also fill my prescription at Walmart. For a while, I have felt awful. More headaches, tired, achy, mood drops, thirsty, and have to pee more. Probably because I drink so much water at work. I am always hot, especially at work. I have been thinking it was because of the mask I have to wear at work. We are not allowed to use indoor fans either, so I get overheated, sweaty, thirsty, and headaches. It's been a vicious circle of not feeling well."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was switched from my levothyroxine to Euthyrox a couple of months ago, and the cramping in my muscles was almost unbearable! At the same time, I have gained 10 pounds and my thigh muscles felt like they were frozen or stiff and didn't want to work. I was extremely tired and depressed from all the symptoms. The doctor ran blood tests and upped my dosage from 150 to 175 because it showed low - the only difference in what I was doing was the Euthyrox, and I had quite a time trying to get my doctor to prescribe another brand. The pharmacist said they had enough left of the prior brand to refill this month."

For Underactive Thyroid "I also had a terrible experience with this drug, my hair has been falling out so badly and also feeling lethargic and not sleeping. I went to Walmart, and they changed me back to Levothyroxine and were great about it. I was on the Euthyrox for months before I figured out what was happening."

For Underactive Thyroid "I was switched to Euthyrox by Walmart four months ago. My TSH levels were low, so he dropped my meds down a small amount. That's not unusual with my condition to have to change the meds a bit now and again. Within a few weeks, I had constant muscle aches and pains. I started feeling tired all the time. My husband kept complaining because I was, in his words, unusually cranky. My sleep habits changed. I did not associate this with my new medication until today. Today I got my TSH levels back from the lab: 10.59. The only change in anything is this medication. I'm seeing my doctor in two weeks, and I will never again accept this medication."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have used Levothyroxine for 30 years. I was first on Synthroid, but had to switch due to cost. Then I was on generic levothyroxine 125 mcg. Five years ago, I was lowered to 100 mcg, everything was still fine. Three months ago, Walmart filled my prescription with Euthyrox. I have taken this for 2 1/2 months. I feel horrible, I already have heart issues, R.A. Now I have no energy, my hair is falling out, I am gaining weight, all the stuff I used to have. Also, my blood work shows my thyroid is low. How could Walmart just up and give me this crap drug? Doctors need to make a stand for the patients. If they don’t give me what I had, I’m done with Walmart."

For Underactive Thyroid "On a whim trying to figure out what is wrong with me. No doctor seems to help me. I researched the difference between the two drugs & mercy. Have I found the culprit? I have been feeling so lethargic, insomnia, weak, dizzy, fast heart rate, sweats if I try to push myself and faint. Physically unstable, nauseated, ankle and leg cramps, foggy, foggy. Memory getting bad, vision, headaches, chest, indigestion. I was given Euthyrox by Walmart instead of Levothyroxine. Taking for 3 months. Changed pharmacy in the meantime to Walgreens. I picked up new 90 Levothyroxine."

For Underactive Thyroid "Wal-Mart switched my medicine to Euthyrox and told me the manufacturer changed because my current levothyroxine absorbs moisture. Within a week of taking Euthyrox, I had a rash on my legs. Two weeks in, a horrible rash appeared on my hands and feet. My body itched on my trunk, front and back, continuously. By the third week, most of my hair had fallen out, and I experienced tiredness and pain in my hips. After taking Euthyrox for 27 days, I had Wal-Mart switch me back to my old medication. It's been 6 weeks since I switched. The tiredness and hip pain are gone. The rash on my leg is mostly gone. The horrible hand and feet condition remains. My primary doctor gave me cream for eczema. The dermatologist has given me two different creams for eczema or psoriasis. My hands were dry, scaly, very red, and flaky. My hands itch and hurt at the same time. They appeared like burnt hands. My feet have very hard and dry patches. I am praying for some answers. How long will this problem last before it clears up? Has anyone else had this rash?"

For Underactive Thyroid "I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was put on Euthyrox. After one week of this medicine, I started experiencing headaches, loose stools, muscle pain and tingling, extremely tired, dizziness, and heart racing. I’ve now been off this medicine for three weeks, some of the side effects from this medicine have subsided. I hope when I see the endocrinologist next week, they will be able to give me another medicine."

For Hashimoto's disease "Walmart switched me from levothyroxine in August to Euthyrox. I started feeling lethargic and not doing well. I didn’t know the cause until I switched back to levothyroxine. Euthyrox medication doesn’t work, and I am throwing away what I have left. Cannot believe Walmart can just switch your medication without your approval. I will not use their pharmacy again!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "I have been switched to Euthyrox and have been taking it for 8 days. The pharmacist said it's the same thing but different packaging. Day 4, I started to feel lightheaded, nauseated, terrible muscle aches, and feeling extremely tired. Very hard to concentrate, so I had to go to the ER, they said nothing was wrong and levels were fine today. Maybe I was getting a virus. Now that I am reading these posts, I am convinced it is this new medicine. I was on levothyroxine for 10 years and had no problems. A few days of this and feeling like rubbish! I emailed my doctor to let them know and got a hold of the office, and they show that the only one he prescribed was levo, not Euthyrox. I am contacting Walmart and my doctor again to get my levothyroxine back. If you stop taking Euthyrox, how long before side effects go away? The ER brushed me off without even checking into it. I told them about it, but labs were normal today. If I kept taking it, I wonder if my labs would have come out worse."

For Underactive Thyroid "The same thing happened to me as everyone else is describing. I have taken Levo for over 15 years now, and my levels have been fine. Walmart switched this on me and told me, 'It is the same thing, just different packaging.' I thought something was off, but I went with it. I took them for two weeks, then I had my first blackout. I had a hot flash, hard time breathing, and ran into the door until collapsing to the floor. I tried to dismiss it, but then not even a week later, I was with some friends, and I felt totally fine when all of a sudden, I had the heat flash again. I tried to walk to the door and fell straight down to the floor. I tried to stand and fell again. Do not take this drug, it will cause you serious issues. I have also been feeling very tired and gaining weight since taking it. It doesn't do anything to benefit your body."

For Underactive Thyroid "My heart is broken for everyone after reading all this. I have the same story of Walmart switching me without asking and telling me it’s exactly the same. I’ve had increased heart palpitations and chest pains, weekly headaches, stiffness, and thought I was just getting older! My thyroid is larger and less efficient. Even though my numbers jumped so much lower than normal, my doctor didn’t change anything, and I am feeling tired every afternoon. I am changing doctors, and I went to Publix this week because they had my old generic variation, as the Walmart here in Brunswick, Georgia, still does not carry the one I got from them for 10+ years, saying it’s a month+ wait for it. I tossed the stupid yellow packets and started the old pill 2 days ago! I pray this solves some problems and this new med didn't cause permanent damage to any of us!"

For Hashimoto's disease "Like many of you, I changed to Walmart pharmacy, and my levothyroxine was replaced with Euthyrox. Within a few weeks, I started noticing symptoms: tired, achy, blurry vision. I finally thought maybe it had to do with the Euthyrox since it reminded me of how I felt before I was diagnosed. Thank goodness I found this page. Thank you for commenting, it's like I wrote it myself. In the trash they go! I'm going back to Walgreens!"

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "This medication does not work the same as other thyroid medications. I have been on thyroid medication since I was 15. Walmart switched me to this one, and the pharmacist assured me it was exactly the same. I trusted them, and they were wrong. My levels shot up, I started gaining weight (40 lbs), I’m swelling, have brain fog, am irritable, heat and cold intolerant, and I’m so tired during the day but can’t sleep at night. I don’t understand how this can be given to us without them fully explaining the differences in the medications. This could be very dangerous for someone like me as I no longer have a thyroid. My doctor wrote me a new prescription yesterday, and when I got home from getting it filled, I realized they gave me Euthyrox again. I had to go back up to the pharmacy and have them switch it. They apologized for giving me the wrong one and replaced it because my doctor included in the notes to not give me Euthyrox anymore. I can’t wait to start feeling better again."

For Hypothyroidism, After Thyroid Removal "Walmart started giving me boxed Euthyrox over a year ago. Due to COVID, I did not get routine blood work for TSH levels. Last week, I saw my doctor complaining of exhaustion; my blood work shows 16 TSH while on 100 mcg Euthyrox. Since my total thyroid removal in 2009, I have been on 88-125 mcg Levothyroxine, with my highest TSH being 9, and 100 mcg brought it down. Euthyrox must be the cause of my suffering and TSH 16."
