For Emergency Contraception "I had unprotected sex on my ovulation day (according to period tracker app). I got the pill about 1 hour after the incident. After about 5 days, I started having cramping with no bleeding, sore nipples, and fatigue. My period finally came about 12 days after taking the pill on the expected day. It can still work during your fertile window, so take the pill as soon as you possibly can!"

For Emergency Contraception "I am sharing my experience to possibly help someone else who is in a similar predicament. I had unprotected sex on the 19th of October, and there was confusion on whether I was still taking birth control or not. He did not attempt to pull out, and I was ovulating on that exact day or up to 2 days before, so we panicked. Two hours later, I took Plan B and waited for the following 3 weeks to pass by. During these weeks, I experienced slight moodiness, extreme fatigue, lower back pain, breast tenderness, vomiting, acne flare-ups, cramps, and cravings. I was so afraid that it didn't work. I took a pregnancy test when my period didn't start, but a week later it came. I learned to be more careful and actually keep track of my ovulation so this doesn't happen again. I was scouring websites looking for someone with a similar experience and couldn't find anything, so I felt the need to share. Stay strong, ladies, these pills work."

For Birth Control "I have just recently gotten Kyleena. The insertion was pretty painful, and I have a pretty good pain tolerance. I was told ahead of time that it's okay that it's going to feel like a cramp at first. After the insertion, they sat me up and told me to sit for a minute before getting up and changing, but right after they walked out, I passed out onto the floor face-first. After I came to, I got back on the table, and it took me about 3 minutes to be able to speak. My body was in so much shock, and I finally called for help. They came, and then when they came in, I threw up, and that is very uncommon for me. I wasn't safe driving home, so I had to call for a ride. The rest of that day, I had the worst cramps of my life. As the days go on, the cramps are still there and hurt. (Your heat pad will become your best friend.) Now I'm just trying to wait it out and see if it gets better, but I am thinking about taking it out. I just wanted to put my story and experience out there to show my side effects of Kyleena."

For Emergency Contraception "Four weeks ago, my boyfriend and I became intimate for the first time. We didn’t have protection around, but continued. He pulled out but was late, and some was in. I took the pill 24+ hours after the incident. I heard they make you nauseous, I felt nothing. I had what I think was my period a few days after taking the pill (it can change the cycle/bleed). But oh boy, fast forward three weeks, I had cramping, constipation, gas, tender breasts, and bloating. All this coming around the time you would start to have pregnancy signs. I thought I was done for right there. I bought a pregnancy test, however, and it came up negative, I didn’t believe it. For a whole week, I had these side effects. These side effects finally stopped about three days ago, and I got my period today. This period took less than 25 days to come. (I’m not on birth control, irregular periods). It works but messes you up, if you’re like me, these side effects don’t appear until weeks after, try not to panic. Keep your head up, ladies!"

"So I had unprotected sex on the 4th of September, the day I was ovulating. I thought he would pull out, but he finished inside me. I got the pill and took it 16 hours later. No side effects until day 9 after taking the pill when I started getting cramps that would come and go. I started getting a brown discharge on day 12, and day 13, my period came full force. I was stressed and worried the entire 13 days, so try to take the pill as soon as possible and next time be more careful."

For Emergency Contraception "A little over a week ago, the condom broke during sex. So, within 20 minutes, we went and got the pill, and I took it. I have always had an irregular period, meaning I go months sometimes without periods, so I had no idea what stage I was at within my menstrual cycle. After 8 long days of cramps, back pain, tender breasts, and serious mood swings, I got a period! If it worked for me, it will work for you, too. The key is to take it as soon as possible and to remain calm. The more stressed you are, the longer you'll go without a period. And yes, you may have some terrible symptoms. But at the moment, it's better than being pregnant!"

For Birth Control "I love, love, love Mirena. I had my first one put in when I was 21 due to debilitating periods, and I hadn't had any kids. Not going to lie - the pain was truly horrible upon insertion, and I did cramp for weeks afterwards, but after that cleared up 5 years of no periods changed my life. I just had my second one put in yesterday and it was nowhere near as traumatic as the first time since my hormones had leveled out. I HIGHLY recommend it for women who don't want/can't take high estrogen birth control or would like to stop their periods safely. It's been absolutely life-changing for me, and I hope Mirena and other IUD's continue to gain popularity as people see how great they really can be."

For Birth Control "I am a huge fan. I read a lot of negative reviews prior to deciding, and promised myself that if I loved it, I would share! I got it 1.25 years ago. I got it for contraception, as I haven't had any children. Painless procedure - just pressure. Bad cramping for the rest of the day - I would take Panadol before going in next time so that it would kick in earlier. I would also advise having the day off work. After day one, it's been great! Smooth sailing. I get my period for about 2 days very lightly once every 5 months. And amazingly pain-free (used to get bad cramps). No weight gain or loss. No hair loss. No nausea. Better skin! So, I am an advocate. Good luck."

For Birth Control "7 months since insertion. Pros: no pregnancy so far, don’t have to remember to take pills or shots, etc., no condoms. Cons: irregular, erratic bleeding, cramping, back pain, damn near growing a beard, no sex drive (and my husband is hot), weight gain, depression, anxiety, angry all the time, no motivation, a deep desire to lay in bed and sleep all day, every day, months of bleeding, an altered sense of my normal reality. Overall: I hate it!!! I want to feel like me again, but the doc keeps saying to wait it out. What am I waiting for?.... complete loss of confidence and self-worth?"

For Emergency Contraception "I completely know how stressful the situation is that you are in, and I promised I would post something if it worked for me. I had unprotected sex on the 16th of January, 3 days after the end of my period. We were only unprotected for a short amount of time, and he never ejaculated. I was totally confident that I was in the clear until I Googled when I got home. I freaked out when I read about precum possibly causing pregnancy. The next day, I ran to Rite Aid about 19 hours after the event and got Plan B. About 5 days after, I experienced spotting and cramps. Unfortunately, I decided I should Google it (DON'T), and I totally freaked out because I thought I was implementation spotting. It is now February 4th, and my period just showed up yesterday! Don't stress, ladies! You will only delay your period further. Remember to pray and remember that God has your future, and you will be okay! I know I will never be making this mistake again. MAKE THIS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got the coil to help with heavy bleeding. It went horribly from the start. I’d read it could be painful to get put in and varied from person to person, and an ibuprofen was recommended beforehand, which I took, however, the pain, which was described as a pinch, felt more like I’d been stabbed. The most nauseating cramps I’d ever gotten enveloped me - worst pain I’ve ever felt (only 19, by the way). I was in bed for the rest of the day because the cramps were so severe and constant. They continued for two weeks after. Immediately after inserting it, I began to bleed lightly - this continued on for a year nonstop aside from two days here and there. After three months, I had a check-up, and they assured me it was normal and would stop. I went traveling, hoping for the best and willing to give it a year, but last week marked a year, and the bleeding was still continuous. So I finally got it removed. That actually felt like a pinch and was much better than insertion."

For Emergency Contraception "I took Aftera (an hour post-sex) after I realized I was in my fertile window (5 days before ovulation), and my partner and I had unprotected sex (used the withdrawal method). I remember waking up the next day, and I felt as if I had the stomach flu and my period at the same time. I did not have any sort of bleeding or spotting in between me taking the pill and my period (which came a week early). I had much more discharge, cramps, and bloating for about 2 weeks. I had severe anxiety due to reading that the chances of Aftera working in your fertile window are lower. THAT IS NOT TRUE! My period came a week early, and I had severe PMS symptoms beforehand. My period is extremely heavy with painful cramps. DO NOT GOOGLE YOUR SYMPTOMS BECAUSE IT WILL SAY PREGNANCY! The internet does not know your body, only you do. Trust the pill!"

For Emergency Contraception "Okay, I thought I would share my experience because some of these reviews kept me sane the past couple of days. I had a one-night stand (something I typically wouldn’t do). He thought he pulled out but texted me the next day and said I should probably buy Plan B. Take Action was all Walgreens had, so I had to go with that. I experienced cramps from hell, and my boobs hurt so bad. I was supposed to start my period on the 19th, and it didn’t come, so naturally I was a bit worried. The next day came, and still no period, so I took a test, and it was negative. Then I woke up with my period this morning, so it worked and just gave me some bad side effects. If you’re late after you took this, don't worry! It’s normal for that to happen, and remember, ladies, we have options for pregnancy. Try not to stress!"

For Emergency Contraception "Calm down. I know you’re panicking. Take the pregnancy test if you’re late, take 5 if you want. If they all come back the same, trust it. My period was almost a month late: 3 weeks and 5 days. Stress and the hormonal imbalance from the pill WILL DELAY YOUR PERIOD. Do not freak out, stop googling everything. It’s okay if you spotted a week after taking a pill, it’s normal to spot more than once, and it’s normal to feel cramps at random times. I felt cramps 4 days before having my period, and I usually feel them a day before having my period. Take the pregnancy test. Find an online gynecologist and tell them if you feel symptoms of anything, but it is most likely Plan B if your pregnancy test comes back negative. It affects women differently, but discharge is also normal. Take it easy, honey, find some birth control if you can’t afford the mistake. I can’t, and I learned my lesson. Pray and relax, you’re fine."

For Emergency Contraception "First of all, my period is irregular, it mostly comes on day 35 to 40. My last period was on August 1-August 7. I lost my virginity with a friend on August 10 (day 10 of my cycle), and my ovulation was due on August 23 (pretty far). The sex was unprotected, but the guy didn’t cum inside of me. I took Plan B about 4-5 hours after what happened. Two days later, I got a urinary infection, and I took antibiotics for 3 days (I read that it doesn’t affect how Plan B works). I started spotting/bleeding brown and red discharge on August 16-August 21. The bleeding covered a whole panty liner, so I used pads some days. My side effects: dizziness, nausea, cramps, and bloating. My period was expected to come on September 7, but I’m two weeks late. I have taken a lot of pregnancy tests, and all are negative. The dizziness, nausea, and cramps haven't gone away till this day. I had also a lot of white/watery discharge till this day. YOU GOT THIS GIRL!!!"

For Emergency Contraception "Not going to lie, this pill can possibly make you go insane. But, like all the other reviews say - just be patient. Experience: Last period prior to the pill: June 11th. Incident: June 21st (possibly ovulating). Took the pill possibly within maybe 3 minutes after (super paranoid). Very light bleeding June 26th (for about 3 days). Symptoms (for a month after taking the pill): nausea, no appetite, cramps (on and off), some acne, lower back pain. Obviously, all symptoms of pregnancy. Took maybe 6 pregnancy tests and a blood test (all negative). Period came exactly one month after the light bleeding occurred. Please don't make yourself sick like I did. I lost like 10 pounds from freaking out alone. Patience is key."

For Birth Control "Before Kyleena, I had four-day-long, heavy periods that came with cramps so painful I couldn't get off the floor and would have to leave school/work. The two different pills I was on over the course of two years also did not work for me (mood swings, cramps, heavy periods). I got Kyleena inserted in June of 2019. The most uncomfortable part for me was all of the measuring before placement (which was never more than a slight pinch), and then it was over too fast for me to react, but I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I drove myself to and from the appointment and then had mild cramps the rest of the day. My previously heavy and four-day-long period was so light on days two and three that I couldn't wear a tampon, and then my period never came again. I went back to my doctor in July of 2019, and the nurse told me it was normal to never get my period. I also lost about 15-20 pounds in the first two months after the insertion. I still have not gotten my period in over a year and rarely ever cramp."

"This... omg, this has been enlightening. 1.) 30+ lbs. I have gained almost 50 lbs, but I lost almost 20 again. I have literally been working so hard to lose weight. 2.) Acne? Yes! Bad, bad cystic acne. 3.) Pain, tingling, weakness, and numbness on one side of my body. 4.) Infections. 5.) Mood swings/depression. 6.) Cramping/bloating. 7.) Stomach pain. 8.) Pain/cramping after sex. 9.) Low birth weight/premature birth of my daughter. 10.) I am honestly shocked, devastated, and determined to remove it after finding out this is all from Mirena. This is my 3rd Mirena, and I went from the 120s to the 170s and now am back to the 160-ish. I have been through so much with this, it’s unreal. Don’t do it."

For Emergency Contraception "Plan B works! I had sex while I was ovulating, and the condom broke. He pulled out, and he already came. The side effects were intense, I had cramps for three weeks until I got my period. My breasts hurt, I was bloated, I was gassy, and had sleepless nights. Every pregnancy symptom, so I stressed myself out! You will be okay, everybody’s body reacts differently. I was so glad to read the reviews on this page to help me feel less stressed. Now I am having the most painful period of my life!"

For Emergency Contraception "So if you’re reading this, please take a deep breath, because I know you’re freaking out. I took the Take Action morning-after pill probably between 6-8 hours after having the condom break. I took the pill 6 days before my period was due. The few days following, I was irritable, extremely bloated, and eating nonstop. I woke up to really bad cramps and bleeding 7 days later. It worked. I have used Plan B many times in my life, and it never has failed. This was the first time with the Take Action, the cramping and bleeding are heavier and last longer. Yes, the bleeding and cramping are worse, and people rate this low for this reason. If you’re taking this pill, I would rather bleed for a week or two longer versus being pregnant, am I right? So honestly, if you don’t want to spend the extra money, and you’re fine with bleeding, it’s fine. Like I said, I’ve used these pills many times without fail - you will bleed between a week or two after taking this pill."

For Emergency Contraception "I hope I can shed some light to you all. I had unprotected sex on a 'high day' during my ovulation cycle and also the next day. Both times he finished fully. I was completely unaware at the time I was ovulating and didn't think anything of it. Once I realized I was, which was about 40 hours after the fact, I went to get Plan B One-Step and, to my surprise, the pharmacy was closed. I finally was able to get the pill 63 hours later and took it. I had no side effects with the pill and honestly knew I was pregnant and was freaking out. I had cramping the week after I took the pill, and one week later my period came right on time, so relax ladies, the pill does work! And I was ovulating!"

For Birth Control "I had my Mirena inserted 1/4/10 and I love it! I know everyone is different, but it has been great for me. I'm 24, never had kids, and was on the pill for the past 6 years. Insertion was uncomfortable and painful, but not horrid (and I have a low pain tolerance). However, my doc did give me a local (lidocaine) which I'm sure made a huge difference, and I would not do it without. I felt dizzy and nauseous for the first hour after and relatively bad cramping for three hours. The next day I was a bit tender, and by day three, I was my normal self. Had some very light cramping for two weeks and now nothing, not even my period. I did have a little acne at first, but that may have had to do with going off the pill. I've even lost weight."

For Emergency Contraception "Ladies, let me tell you this pill works! My boyfriend and I had the condom fail right during the middle of my cycle. I went to the pharmacy about 9 hours later and bought some. Right after I took it, I felt fatigued the whole first day. I did experience some other side effects as well, seeing as I have never been on any hormonal contraceptive. I had cramps for the full two weeks until I got my period, as well as breast tenderness. The week after I took the pill, I felt nauseous, had sore breasts, a sore back, cramps, and headaches. I thought I was pregnant and got really stressed out. I got my period right on time though, despite my stress. My best advice is to just relax and wait it out. Easier said than done, I know!"

For Emergency Contraception "I took Plan B one hour after unprotected sex. I waited two weeks to get my period, and it was a very stressful wait. On the second week, I began getting weird cramp-like feelings. I was worried I was pregnant. The day before my period arrived, I was extremely nauseous. However, today I woke up, and my period arrived! I was so relieved and happy. Except today, my cramps were SO bad that I actually threw up and was quite dizzy. It's all worth it though, as I was extremely scared for two weeks. If you are reading this, please don't stress! The pill is very effective, and is over 95% effective taken within the first 24 hours."

For Emergency Contraception "I want to share my experience because I know if you’re reading reviews, you’re probably obsessing and stressing yourself out. I know that I did! Anyway, had protected sex to completion on day 10 of my cycle. When he pulled out, we realized the condom broke. I was days away from ovulation day. My cycle is very regular, and I also track it on an app. I freaked out and went and purchased Plan B and took it about 30 minutes after the sex. So, if you Google, you get all this information and stories and reviews of people getting pregnant when they were set to ovulate. My advice is not to read any of them!! The side effects I experienced were some mild cramping the first day, and then for about two weeks, my mental state deteriorated. Like it was awful. About four days before my period was due, I started spotting brown and had some cramping. Today, my period started one day early. It is a little bit heavier than I’m used to, but overall, things are normal and I’m not pregnant!!!"
