For Birth Control "I was scared to get Mirena after reading all the horror stories, but got it anyways, and I'm liking it so far! I'm 20 years old with no kids. Cramping during insertion and off and on for a few days after, nothing unbearable. Skin has gotten better, and I've actually lost weight, but this might not have anything to do with Mirena. The only downside is I'm still spotting, but my doctor said it should be gone within a month or so. No pain during sex, and my boyfriend says he can't feel the strings either. Would definitely recommend! Don't let all the horror stories scare you."

For Emergency Contraception "I took the pill 2 days after having unprotected sex. My boyfriend came inside, so I was 100% sure I needed to take it. I took it 4 days after my period had ended. I am 5’0 & 95 pounds. I'm stating that because I think that played a big role in the side effects I experienced. I started bleeding 5 days after taking the pill. I had cramps for over two weeks straight. My whole body ached & it made me fatigued. It was all severe. I threw up twice within the first 3 days. The pill did work. It made my next period 21 days late. The stress was real. Do not stress, it works! Just be aware that the dose is heavy & every body reacts differently to it."

For Emergency Contraception "It works. I got my period one day late. I took it after 10 hours of the deed. I was on my 8th day of my menstrual cycle and 5 days before ovulation. However, because I was afraid of risks, I took it since my app said my fertile window started. I knew the pill was working because I got acne the day after on my chin (hormonal), cramps, and sore boobs all the next 3 weeks. Mood swings all over the place. I was scared, so I took a blood test one day before my estimated period date and it came back negative. Two days after that, my period arrived. I feel very tired and painful, but I am happy to be out of this craziness. This page helped me a lot to not go crazy. I took Plan B 4 times in my life, and it always worked. Sending you good vibes and peace of mind. You got this!"

For Birth Control "First, insertion was extremely painful. I am comparing it to a Paragard insertion about 10 years ago, a breeze. I had Paragard for 8 years with no issues, and do not have kids. I opted for Liletta last month. I've noticed such a dramatic shift in my mood and personality for the worse, as well as bloating and weight gain. What makes the side effects even more dramatic is that I have been working out really consistently (running 10 miles/week, yoga, strength), which would normally lift my spirits and mitigate any winter blues, but nope, I'll get off the treadmill and feel on the verge of tears for no reason. It's affecting my work and my relationship, I want it out asap. I've also been crampy and spotting for the entire month since it was inserted. I realize that part is meant to be normal, but it's like insult to injury taking all the other side effects into account. The pros are: I'm not pregnant. Worth it? Not at the cost of my relationship and mental health, and physical well-being."

For Emergency Contraception "Took the pill an hour after unprotected sex (he did not withdraw, I am not on birth control). I had period-like bleeding 7 days after taking the pill, which I assumed was my period coming early, but it only lasted about three days. I began to experience my usual period symptoms 10 days later (mild cramping, general achy-ness), but no period. My symptoms got SIGNIFICANTLY worse in the next few days. Extremely sore breasts, moderate cramping (constant), very light spotting. I had taken the morning after pill one other time in the past and did not experience any of these symptoms, which made me EXTREMELY worried that it hadn’t worked this time. My period FINALLY started over a week later (symptoms continued even after period came). This pill affected me physically and mentally. I was extremely anxious and most of my symptoms were not normal for my cycle. I promised myself to never take this pill again (yes, symptoms were that bad. I was absolutely convinced that I was pregnant)."

For Emergency Contraception "• 1/21 unprotected sex, no withdrawal, 1-2 a.m. (thanks, Wine) • Checked period tracking app. It was day 1 of my ‘fertile window’. Took Plan B 12 hrs later. • Cycle is irregular, so unsure when I was ovulating. • 1/27 spotting, sort of brownish red quickly changed to light pink. Not heavy enough for a tampon. Googled & thought this could be implantation bleeding. • Sporadic spotting continues for 8 days. • 1/29 INCREDIBLY sore breasts, very tired, aching and cramping in back and hips. • Most of those things are standard for my body with PMS (minus the spotting). • 2/5 Aunt Flo has come. Period is early. And heavy. Definitely no longer spotting. 2 weeks stressed, convinced myself I was pregnant and symptoms were coinciding with that. I took 4 pregnancy tests. I lost sleep. I read like, 40 pages of reviews on this website. (What a psycho) Don’t be like me. Trust this medicine and your body."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had the Mirena inserted 7 months ago. It was a little painful and discomfort for a couple of minutes, but if you have been through normal childbirth, you can handle that pain, you can handle anything. After the insertion of the Mirena, which my doctor recommended because I was suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding that would last up to 2 weeks, I spotted a little after insertion and was also cramping the next day. It was all gone about a week after insertion. Then the bleeding was full-on for about 1-2 weeks, then it would stop for a few days, then the bleeding started again. It was constant: 1 week of bleeding, then a stop for another few days. I was so frustrated, as was my hubby. Now everything has settled. We are all different, you have to be patient."

For Emergency Contraception "First of all, THANK GOD!! I took the pill on September 7th, and my period was supposed to come on September 21st. I ended up being 22 days late for my period, my period just came today, Oct. 15. While I was waiting for my period, I experienced dull cramps near my pelvis area and lots of discharge. Nonetheless, it came, and I couldn’t be happier."

For Emergency Contraception "I had sex on November 23, it wasn't until after we realized the condom had broken. I went to the pharmacy and managed to take Plan B about an hour and a half after sex. I realized after that I was about 3 days before ovulating, so I was at a high chance of getting pregnant. And of course, I had read that Plan B doesn't work if you have already ovulated. On November 30, I started bleeding, this went on for 5 days. I thought it was implantation bleeding because my nipples were also sore and sensitive. But it was a very light flow compared to my regular period, with few blood clots. My period was not due for another 2 weeks as well. A week after this, I had a thick, white, creamy discharge. I had to wear a pad for this. This went on for a week. My period was meant to be due on the 12th of December. I experienced breakouts, cravings, mood swings, extreme bloating, and mild cramps. I was convinced I was pregnant. I got my period today on December 20, eight days late, and I couldn't be happier."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I chose Mirena because I was having heavy periods with severe cramping along with terrible acne and PMS symptoms. I am 27 years old and have never had children. I was very nervous before the procedure because of reading many terrible reviews. First off, placement was the most painful experience thus far. Not even exaggerating. I've got a very high pain tolerance, and I thought I was going to pass out. I left the office in some serious pain and cramping, and it continued for about a day. I spotted for about a week along with minor cramps. It's now been 2 months, and I have not had any spotting, cramping, or periods! My mood is better, and for the first time in 10 years, I haven't had any acne breakouts. Also, zero weight gain! I love Mirena, best choice ever."

For Emergency Contraception "Okay, so first off, you’re going to be okay. You were probably like me, scrolling through these reviews, trying to find something similar to you. I had unprotected sex on Nov. 30 and took the Take Action pill on Dec. 1. Every time before in this kind of situation, I have always used Plan B or one time I used My Way. I’ve never had a late period or no symptoms with those pills. Exactly one week later from taking the Take Action pill, I had dark brown discharge and bled for 3 days. I freaked out and thought it was implantation bleeding. I waited for my period, nothing came, and I had sore breasts, cramps on some days, and some days I didn’t. I took 2 pregnancy tests, and both were negative. My period finally came on Dec. 31, and I have had really heavy bleeding and severe cramps. Spend the money on Plan B. If your period doesn’t come on time, avoid the stress and take a test. Wouldn’t recommend this pill at all, but it worked."

For Emergency Contraception "I'm writing this for people who I know are probably trying to find relief in these reviews, and I did the same thing, so I'm going to offer my experience to help them out. My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex. I was nervous, so she took Plan B about 26-28 hours afterward, and then the terrible waiting began. Around day 7 and 8, she started spotting and cramping, and finally, on the 9th day, she got her period. So, relax, because this pill is very effective."

For Birth Control "It's now been three months since I had the Mirena IUD inserted, and I'm glad I went for it. The insertion was not painful, although measuring the cervix was. However, the pain went away real quick. I had lots of cramping and spotting for the first six weeks, and since I'm very sensitive, it made me a bit moody too. However, as it settles in, I'm loving the convenience and the no-worry assurance of birth control, and I'm very glad I got the Mirena. Read a lot of negative reviews before I went for my appointment, but I felt like it was the right thing for me, and I'm glad I trusted my instincts. If you're thinking of getting one, just know that there is an initial adjustment period, and things will get better if you just give it some time."

For Birth Control "I'm 22, have never been pregnant, and had my Mirena inserted ~3 weeks ago. Other than some slight cramping during and some moderately worse cramping later that day and for a few days after (nothing pain killers can't handle) it's been great! I used to have really heavy, really painful periods (which is why I went with Mirena over the paragard) and though I was supposed to get my period the week after they put it in, I haven't had anything but super light, almost non-existent spotting."

For Emergency Contraception "I’ve taken My Choice 3 times and each time it worked. My boyfriend came inside me around Wednesday 3 pm while I was ovulating on my most fertile day. The next day (Thursday) around 10 am, so about 19 hours later, I took a My Choice pill with some water. Later, I started googling and got scared because everybody was saying how it won't work if you're already ovulating, which is a lie. The only bad thing about it were the side effects. My breasts hurt for days, they were so sore, and my cramps were unbearable, they lasted for about a week straight. Also, my legs were hurting the first couple of days, and I had a bad headache. The symptoms are similar to early pregnancy symptoms, so I would advise not to google anything, just wait the 2 weeks out and try to keep yourself busy. But emergency contraception definitely works even when you're ovulating! Just take it as soon as possible! I took 4 pregnancy tests, they all came out negative, and I started my period today, so I'm happy!"

For Birth Control "Okay, I’ve never written a review, but I wanted to, so I could maybe help someone out. I was on the pill for 3 years before I got my IUD. It honestly just seemed easier to go on the IUD so I didn’t have to take a pill every day. I’ve had my IUD for 8 months, and it is the worst thing. I got such bad acne. It reminds me of when I was in high school. It was extremely painful acne as well. I have also gained SO MUCH weight for literally no reason. I have the exact same diet that I did before. I get such bad cramps now, and I never usually got cramps. I also have extreme back pain that is sometimes unbearable. I get moody and lightheaded all the time. It also amps my anxiety for sure. I’m getting it out in a week, and I’m so excited. I want to go back on the pill."

For Birth Control "I got my Skyla placed yesterday. I read every single review I could and worked myself up so much that I was shaking and crying when my OBGYN came in. I wanted to share my positive experience. Let me say, it is not the worst pain I’ve ever had (I am 30 and do not have kids). It felt like an average period cramp at best when she did the first thing in and again when she placed the IUD. I was SO relieved afterwards. I took Motrin the morning of and an hour before the procedure. I was on day two of my period, which I think helped tremendously. My doctor prescribed Cytotec, but, upon research of my own, Cytotec is not shown to assist any more than just being on your period... plus it causes more pain during and after. If you’re thinking about getting one, try not to panic. I’m usually low pain tolerance and had no issues with the insertion. Afterward, I had some mild cramping which was relieved by a heating pad and ibuprofen. Just remember that everyone’s experience is different."

For Emergency Contraception "I didn't think I'd be writing this but I realized there's probably a lot of scared women/men out there who need some help. IT WORKS. IT TAKES TIME BUT IT WORKS! Stressing out was the worst mistake during this because it will cause your period to delay even more. It made me depressed and the cramps are terrible. But once I woke up and went pee this morning, there it was. I've never been so happy to see my period!! Exactly a week after I had taken Plan B One-Step, it had finally come. My advice is to be patient and do things to get it off your mind. Looking at good reviews really helped me out!"

For Birth Control "So naturally, I read so many of these reviews before getting the Kyleena inserted. I was so nervous about the pain. My gyn prescribed me Cytotec (uterus softener) to take earlier that day with ibuprofen. I want to put a positive review in here and say the insert went AMAZING. After reading these reviews, I thought it would feel like a dagger! Instead, and I don't know if I should attribute this to the medicine or my amazing gyn, but it felt like a cramp, which lasted for 1 second. I didn't believe her at first when she said she put it in because I was expecting the worst. A few mild cramps spaced out through the day afterward (a side effect of the medicine as well), no bleeding yet. I will update once I've been on it longer, but I am STOKED. I am sorry for those who experienced bad insert/side effects, but if you really want to get this IUD, don't put it off due to the negative reviews. And maybe ask your gyn about Cytotec. See for yourself, everyone is different. You can always take it out :)"

For Birth Control "I have had the Mirena in for a year now. I'm 29 and I haven't had babies. I've tried all sorts of birth control pills and NuvaRing. All they ever did was cause depression and mood swings. Mirena, on the other hand, has been a blessing to my uterus. I had slight cramping the first day or two and since then my periods have disappeared. I haven't had a period in 6 months, no monthly symptoms either. Mr. Mirena deserves a trophy and a million-dollar mansion for his kind help."

For Emergency Contraception "So me & a friend got really drunk & we ended up having sex, which I only have flashbacks of. He doesn't remember anything, so I chose to tell him we didn't do it because I didn't want him to know he was the one who took my virginity. So I took the pill about 40 hours after, I was extremely scared!! Only thinking the worst. Then 7 long days later, I got my period!!! I had really bad cramping. I wanted to share my story because a lot of yours helped me calm my nerves! Xoxo"

For Emergency Contraception "I want to share my experience and hopefully ease your mind. I had sex with a friend on 02/16, it was the 9th day of my cycle (my cycle is always regular and varies from 28 to 30 days). We were a bit drunk, so the condom got stuck inside of me with a lot of precum in it. I took the pill 6 hours after that. I had no immediate symptoms, however, a week after taking it, my breasts were super sore, and I couldn’t get up from my bed. I had no spotting, but two weeks after taking the pill (one week before my scheduled period), I started to have intense cramps and mild bleeding. The next day, I got my normal period, 6 days before scheduled! I got on birth control immediately because, honestly, the pill makes you feel like you’re pregnant. Be safe and good luck :)!"

For Emergency Contraception "I just wanted to leave a review of my experience in case someone else is going through a similar situation. So I had unprotected sex with a guy the day after I had already ovulated. Of course, I read that Plan B isn’t really effective during ovulation or after, so I freaked out. He pulled out, but I was still nervous about possible pregnancy. So, the next day (about 16 hours later), I took the Plan B pill. I had cramping here and there in both my stomach and lower back. A little bit of nausea a few days after taking it. I stressed myself out so much from googling symptoms and whatnot. I thought for sure I might be pregnant, but one day before my period was due, I started spotting lightly, and then I got more intense cramps, and my period came on strong right after. This pill DOES work! People will say it doesn’t during ovulation, but I’ve read a lot of reviews on here and other women say the same thing. Keep your hopes up because your period will eventually come!!"
