For Allergies "My allergies were bad, so I took this medication - Xyzal - for 2 weeks and started to feel depressed. I thought it could be due to the fatigue I was experiencing, however, after reading a few other reviews, I see that depression is very possibly a result of the use of this medication."

For Allergies "I got insanely dizzy (where I couldn't walk in a straight line for much of the day), had horrible anxiety and depression, and couldn't sleep at night. I would wake up several times a night having intense panic attacks, and during the day would feel unreal (zombie-like and insane headaches). It did what it was supposed to and kept my rash under control, but was not really worth the side effects."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Although the 2 days I took the medication for allergies (which it worked great for), I couldn’t deal with the mental and emotional side effects it caused. The medication caused me to be mean and angry and extremely depressed. I cried on and off the entire second day. Fortunately, I was quick to recognize that these feelings were caused by the medication, and after the second day off of it, I was fine."

For Allergies "On Xyzal, I experienced severe depression and dark thoughts. I was on it for 16 days. I also had severe chest pains/anxiety attack while on it. I have been off of it for 4 days, and every day I'm feeling better. While I was having symptoms, I googled side effects and found 'depression.' Really grateful to be off this and feeling better."

For Allergies "I had been taking Allegra and Nasonex for years, but still did not have good control over my allergies and asthma. I used Benadryl as needed when my two prescription medicines were not enough. The pulmonologist told me that Benadryl has an intense drying effect in your body and that it makes your mucus more viscous (thicker). Within 2 days of starting Xyzal (and stopping Benadryl), I definitely had thinned mucus and my skin was much less dry. My asthma was much better controlled and I had less sensitivity to environmental triggers. Unfortunately, I also started experiencing moderate-to-severe headaches along with a feeling of depression/anxiety. Without Xyzal, I get pneumonia, with it, I feel crazy. Works, but bad side effects."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I had been on Allegra for allergies for almost 10 years. This year, it stopped working and began to make my heart race. I also developed new allergies (to foods). My general practitioner mentioned Xyzal to me, gave me some samples, and instructed me to start out with the pediatric dose of 2.5 mg to see how I reacted to the medicine and how effective it was for me. All I can say is, it's AWESOME! It is fast-acting, stopping the itchy nose, throat, ears, and non-stop sneezing soon after taking it. No crazy heart rhythms, hungover feelings, or depression with this antihistamine. It's a keeper!"

For Allergies "I wanted to share my experience with taking this medication. I started taking this medicine and felt a little better with the allergies, however, I noticed my mood had changed. I started feeling very depressed about a week into the medicine, and that is NOT like me at all. I am usually someone who wakes up with a burst of energy and always in a good mood. My allergy symptoms were improving a little bit, but now I am in a state of depression. I was having mood swings and mentally breaking down, crying for reasons that I usually wouldn't cry about. I talked with my doctor, and we agreed that the medicine was making me feel this way. Today is day 4 without taking the medicine, and I am back to my normal bubbly self. No more Xyzal for me."

For Urticaria "Xyzal is horrible. I’ve spent the last 4 years of my life suffering due to side effects of antihistamines. These drugs are all the same thing. They make you feel annoyed, depressed, anxious, exhausted, dizzy, and just like absolute garbage! I thought Xyzal, being the 'newer and better' drug it was marketed to be, would be the miracle to save my life. However, it wasn’t. This drug is just as bad as the rest, possibly even worse. Also, keep in mind that Xyzal is no different than Zyrtec. It’s literally just the left half of Zyrtec, the part of it that actually works. It’s the same drug. If Zyrtec sucks for you, Xyzal will too. Honestly, I’m gonna go back to Claritin. It doesn’t stop my hives completely, but I am at least not a psychotic, depressed maniac on it."

For Allergic Rhinitis "Took this at night while waiting on an Allegra order. It was not terribly effective on my indoor/outdoor allergies. I felt marginally less wheezy at night, but my nose was stuffed and eyes itchy the next morning. On top of that, it makes me sluggish and stupid for a solid 24 hours. Forget drinking on this pill; the alcohol will go straight to your head. Granted, the label says all of this, but these itty-bitty pills aren't effective enough to be worth it."

For Allergic Rhinitis "This drug made me completely crazy. I started having bad anxiety, then anger and depression. Very bad depression. Horrible headache and fatigue. I lashed out at a coworker and got in trouble. What a disaster. Never again. Going back to Zyrtec."

For Urticaria "This medicine is making me miserable. Have been through nosebleeds, depression, difficulties in concentrating, loss of short-term memory, and I was lightheaded all the time. Practically, I've been through the majority of the possible side effects that got mentioned. Sadly, I didn't manage to relate my personal health condition to this horrendous medicine earlier, otherwise, I would have already stopped taking this awful drug. Based on what I've been through, the risk of suffering from this drug certainly outweighs the benefits involved, and thereby, please walk away from this bloody thing."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I was hopeful that Xyzal would be the life-changing allergy medicine I’ve been searching for. The first dose I took at bedtime, woke up to fewer allergy symptoms, but as the day went on my mood went downhill... easily irritated, grumpy, depressed, and crying. This is so opposite of my typical mood. Took the second dose thinking it was just PMS or something, woke up dreading my day and more congested. The gloomy feeling is still there, and after reading side effects, I’m certain it’s the Xyzal. I don’t tolerate Zyrtec or Allegra either, but when you’re recovering from your third sinus infection in two months you search for the best remedy. My daughter, who has year-round allergies, took a dose at bedtime too, by morning it was as if she hadn’t taken anything. Gave her another dose (5ml), and the poor thing was exhausted at school, could barely keep her eyes open. Back to Claritin for me and Zyrtec for her. You truly have to try them all to see what works for you. This one, though, is getting tossed."

For Allergies "I have been on Xyzal for 2 of the worst months of my life. It relieved sinus headaches. But had nightmares, tingling in my feet and legs. Abnormal glucose blood work, which is back to normal now. Depression, terrible anxiety, extreme hunger. Thank you all for your honesty. No more Xyzal for me."

For Allergic Rhinitis "So it seems like a lot of people have had bad experiences with this medication and have taken it over the counter. I got a prescription and spoke with a doctor before taking it, so I was aware of some side effects. The first few days were bad. I did experience the additional sleepiness and some bouts of rage and depression. I spoke with the doctor again, and they mentioned to try and stay on it for a week and see if the symptoms subside, and they did. I am 3 weeks in now, and it has helped my allergies a ton, and the side effects are gone. I am feeling great."

For Allergies "This drug made me so tired and a little depressed after 2 doses in 2 days. Also, it dried my eyes so much that I could barely get contacts out, which led to eye pain and infection."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I take Xyzal, which is good, but I’ve noticed that I get extremely depressed when I take it. I’m going to try and lay off it till I see if this is what’s causing my mood swings."

For Allergies "I started taking Xyzal about 2 months ago. For the first week all was well. It helped with my allergies and stuffy nose. After that, I noticed my urine turned orange. I thought it was the effect of an antibiotic I was taking, so the doctor told me to stop taking the antibiotic. Urine still remained dark after that. Then a cough began that I have had for at least 3 weeks. The final straw was when my face started breaking out with a rash and then my leg. I never thought the medication was the cause of all this until I read reviews from others. I have experienced the depression, the cough, the rash, the dark urine, the fatigue, so now I'm going to stop taking it and hope I can clear up all of these issues. I would say don't take this drug. It's just not worth the risk of all of the side effects."
