Levocetirizine "I started developing an outbreak of rashes all over my body about two years ago. Since then, my GP has prescribed the usual antihistamine, cetirizine, and hydroxyzine. I noticed my rashes didn't subside totally after I took them both, but when I was prescribed Xyzal, I noticed it lowered the inflammation of my skin, and the itchiness level was greatly reduced too. Since then, I have been taking Xyzal together with Atarax, and I find it to be quite effective as a combination. I have been taking Xyzal on a daily basis ever since. My rashes come back sometimes, but I have no choice since there are no newer antihistamines other than Xyzal. My doctor has never prescribed me Allegra."

"I've suffered with a rash and hives for 15+ years, seen lots of doctors and hospital appointments when I first started suffering, but told I didn't know what I had, so I just had to put up with it. Over the years, it got worse to the point I had to avoid doing a lot of things. Then, 2 months ago, I had an appointment with a dermatologist, and she told me I have urticaria, chronic cold hives. I was prescribed levocetirizine 5 mg, which I take 4 tablets in the morning, and montelukast 10 mg, which I take 1 tablet at night, and I haven't suffered since. For me, that is amazing, I'm able to do things again."

Levocetirizine "It has been the only antiallergic that really works for me. I take it every other day. It is just fantastic and so happy that now it's over the counter, now I can get the 80 tablet bottle and not deal with insurance, and it's cheaper than the out-of-pocket payment that I used to pay."

Levocetirizine "I have suffered with severe hives for more than 8 years. About one year ago, my fourth doctor discovered I had H. pylori. After treatment, I remained hive-free for almost 8 months. This summer, minor recurrences started back but are controlled with one Xyzal at night, not 100% effective, but close to 85%."

Levocetirizine "My 16-year-old daughter was prescribed this medicine, and after two doses, became exhausted. She could not remember anything she learned in school. Said it was effortful to walk, although she walked normally. She described herself as feeling like she was in a dream state. I discontinued the drug, and within 24 hours, she felt normal."

Levocetirizine "Have used it only 4 days. The first night, I felt quite sedate and went to sleep easily. The following nights were just the opposite. Have great difficulty settling down and getting to sleep. I take it about 9 pm and would like to be asleep by 11:00."

"It is so helpful to read of other people's experiences with this medication. I have just been prescribed this along with 10 mg of Montelukast due to chronic spontaneous urticaria, which has had a hugely negative impact on my life. It's a daily occurrence, without warning... there it is! Reading people's positive accounts has given me some hope. I will persevere with this medication. Unless you have experienced what this condition does, you will never understand. Thank you to those that have shared. Also, do some research on a high dosage of vitamin D supplements for CSU."

Levocetirizine "I have had heat-induced hives for about 5 months now on the face. Xyzal worked really well, and I have had little to no breakouts on my face since. The only side effect I have experienced was nosebleeds."

Levocetirizine "I agree with some others who have reported results from this drug for chronic idiopathic urticaria. I have been on it for two weeks and have no symptoms. I have been on prednisone twice this year. I hope this drug continues to work. I’ll give it a 10."

"I developed solar urticaria a few years back, (allergies to the sun) and I've tried everything from Benadryl, Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, and cortisone creams, and none of them have worked. The doctor finally gave me some samples of Xyzal, and I noticed a 98% change. I don't take them every day, but if I know I will be out in the sun for an extended amount of time, I will take one before leaving home, and it lasts for 24 hours. If I am in direct sunlight on a really hot day for extended hours, I will still break out in hives, but not as bad as I would if I didn't take anything. It doesn't make me drowsy at all, as some have indicated. I am so relieved to have found this medicine. Without insurance, it can be very expensive. I wish it were sold over the counter."

Levocetirizine "I've had cholinergic urticaria for months now, and let me tell you that it's an absolutely miserable condition to have. Any form of heat exposure, whether that be the sun, exercise, etc., would cause a massive flare-up where I'd be in severe, itchy pain. First day on Xyzal, out in the sun at midday in Florida (you can imagine how fun it is living here with CU!), and my pain was minimal and took longer (about 15ish minutes as opposed to 5 minutes) for it to set in. The red spots still do appear on my arms, but they aren't painful. It does appear that the redness doesn't appear as much on my chest area, at least not from what I can tell. I take the usual 5mg once daily as needed - I don't take it if I don't expect to go outside or otherwise be exposed to heat. The only reason why I'm not rating this a 10 is that it does make me slightly drowsy."

Levocetirizine "I was hoping that it would help with the itching from psoriasis, but I got very little to no relief. I took it at night, like the directions instructed, but I still could not get a good night's sleep, and during the day I still had severe itching."

"Highly effective for the treatment of physical urticaria if taken at least 1 hour prior to activity. Fewer side effects than cetirizine. I have been taking this medication for years now and it has caused no drowsiness so far, even when some alcohol is consumed, it does not seem to increase drowsiness. Very positive experience with this drug as it allowed me to be active again."

"This medication has changed my life in a matter of days. Let me start off by saying, I'm very apprehensive when it comes to taking medication. I would rather not take anything. I do everything I can to treat the root cause of an issue, though in an effort to find temporary relief I did try taking Claritin for months (it didn't work for me) and I also tried Zyrtec and Allegra, both destroyed my stomach. For the last year, I've been dealing with severe skin sensitivities that seem to have come out of nowhere: itching, burning, rashes. I can't pinpoint exactly what I'm allergic to, and I've done all the things to eliminate potential triggers. You name it, I've probably changed it. After months and many visits to different specialists, I was prescribed Xyzal 5 mg, and it changed my life within a matter of days with no side effects (rare for me) as long as I ate before taking it. I feel like I can enjoy life again. I hope I won't need it forever, but for now, I am grateful."

Levocetirizine "Following the insertion of two stents to treat a serious occlusion of the arteries, I was prescribed the usual cardiac drugs plus omeprazole, and a year or so later Lasix to counteract the usual old age swelling of the prostate. Since taking these drugs I have developed urticaria. The dermatologist prescribed Xyzal and a cream for 30 days, which was 100% successful with the urticaria. I believe that one of the aforementioned drugs that I mentioned was responsible for the urticaria. After a couple of weeks without the Xyzal and the cream, the urticaria returned. Using the cream on its own does not stop the urticaria, but the Xyzal alone is 95% effective. I now need to check with the urologist about the long-term use of Xyzal."

"At first, I thought it was another case of poison ivy, but it would not go away. After a month, I went to the doctor. He prescribed levocetirizine. It went away the first day. I go off it for a week, and when the condition starts again, I take the prescription, and it immediately goes away! Amazing!"
