Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "I had a Synvisc-One shot about 7 months ago in my right knee. The injection was not painful at all - just uncomfortable as the thick fluid goes into the knee. I had pain relief for 6 full months. After this experience, I decided to get 2 shots - one in each knee. I had the shots done yesterday, and the pain from the shots was excruciating. The experience was nothing like the first time. I felt like I was going to pass out and as if I had been 'sucker punched' in the gut. I couldn't get off the exam table for 20 minutes and could barely get in my car to drive home. I was in such pain and discomfort I went to bed and slept for 12 hours. Today, I still have discomfort and aching."

Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "I had injections in both knees today of the Synvisc One. This is the third time in a year and a half. First one injection, no problems, no side effects, but a little sore afterwards for a day. After the second one, I had stiffness and pain for a few days. I called the office and was told to use ice. After three days, it was better, just a little sore. I had the third one in both knees today, and OUCH! The right knee didn’t hurt much due to it being numbed before they did it. The left hurt. I was sore walking out, but okay. About three hours later, my knees are stiff, excruciating pain, hurting all the way down to my feet, swelling. I cannot get up from a sitting position. I cannot bend my knees, they are so stiff. Walking is horrible, and I need help with my legs not wanting to move. I’m elevating with ice. I need relief."

Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "Been receiving Synvisc injections approximately every 6 months for the last 3+ years. They help tremendously. There is always a little soreness and swelling of the knee for about a week after the injection, but then I get 6 months of pain-free activity. That's a pretty good trade-off if you ask me."

Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "I have been reading the reviews, and I'm wondering if I got the same meds as the folks who wrote these reviews. I got the shots in both knees, not a numbing shot before the Synvisc. Before shots, it was very painful to even walk, I needed a cane for some stability. The night of the first shots, my knees were tender, but when my feet hit the floor the next morning, I could not believe it. No pain, felt great. My doctor said that was very unusual. Pain subsides over time, not immediately. Received the series of 3 shots 4 years ago this month. My knees are not as good as they were when I first got the shots, but they are still better than before the shots. My doctor is surprised with the results. I would advise anyone to go for the Synvisc injections."

Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "Wife, 74, has bilateral primary osteoarthritis of knees. She has been on Euflexxa, three shots over three weeks, every six months, for the past few years with excellent results. We switched insurance, and the new insurance insisted on Synvisc or Synvisc One. She went into the clinic this morning to get her Synvisc One injection. The physician's assistant (PA) had a trainee with her and explained that you have to feel for the soft spot adjacent to the kneecap to determine where to inject. My wife felt more pressure than she had experienced with the Euflexxa, and a little soreness, but almost no pain. She felt better after the injection and was able to walk out of the hospital and return home, no more than the normal discomfort. She is currently icing her knees and, so far, is very pleased! I know it is early, but it went really well and gives us hope that the osteoarthritis in her knees won't get progressively worse."

Hylan g-f 20 for Osteoarthritis "Doctor suggested Synvisc-One because, as a self-pay, I could avoid the cost of additional 2 doctor visits vs. a 3-shot regimen. After I received the injection through the enormous needle, and for several days, my knee was very stiff because it appeared to be too full of the Synvisc-One product. Did not resolve for 2 weeks. And even 30 days later, I'm experiencing pain in my knee, worse than before the injection. Prior 2 years, I had Euflexxa injections (3 course regimen) and did not experience any of the negative symptoms that I did with Synvisc-One, except for minor stiffness/soreness immediately after injection for a couple of days afterward - which is normal. My understanding is that both Synvisc-One and Euflexxa consist of 'synthetic' hyaluronic acid vs. natural rooster combs. Doctor's office said that some people have allergic reactions to the natural rooster combs. Note that the Synvisc-One injection was performed by a different doctor than my prior Euflexxa injections."

For Osteoarthritis "My father had his injection about 3 weeks ago. He is 75. He had no pain at all when he walked out of the doctor's office. He had not been without pain in over 25 years! He did experience soreness over the next few days, but it has been utterly amazing. He is standing up straight now (I didn't know he was bending over because of the knee pain and instability, I had always assumed it was his back) - and his back pain went away since he started standing up straighter. I'm certainly hoping for long-term relief for him. But meanwhile, I am overjoyed to watch him get around now."
