For Osteoarthritis "I received Synvisc injections to both knees, and I wish that I could have had the steroidal injections instead. The PA was bragging about this medication, so I said go ahead if it’s more effective and the relief lasts longer than the anti-inflammatory steroid - I am ready. Before the Synvisc, I could take short walks with my dog, bend down to put his harness on, but it was painful. Now, one week since my third injection, and I have a terrible time trying to walk upstairs to my bedroom. The pain in both legs is unbearable, it feels as if I have fire in both of my thighs, knees, and calves. My legs are very heavy, swollen, and it feels as if I am carrying someone else’s legs. The pain and burning are nonstop. I try to find somehow a decent position with pillows to attempt to fall asleep. That is with taking my opioid pain medication, Gabapentin, and Tylenol PM. Once I find a fairly comfortable position and use ice packs to calm the pain, I then am afraid to stand up and fall."

For Osteoarthritis "I'd gotten the Synvisc-One shot injection annually the past 2 years. I went in on 10/16 to get a preventative shot, and since my insurance deductibles had been met for the year, I wanted to get it before the end of the year. My knee began swelling up as soon as I got home, with lots of pain. I went in a day later and had him drain it, then a couple of days later and had him drain it again. I never got any infection, however, the doctor stated that around 5% of the patients will have a bad reaction. It's now Dec '16, and I still have pain (no swelling, just burning/pain on the inside of the knee). Some days worse than others, some days I can walk without much pain, other days, it hurts like hell to walk on it. Also hurts while sleeping, some nights worse than others. NO MORE."

For Osteoarthritis "I had a Synvisc-One injection in late November due to osteoarthritis that has made my left knee very swollen at times and even caused it to lock up for weeks. The doctor that administered the injection has a very good reputation, and it was only mildly uncomfortable when he was injecting it. However, it has done absolutely nothing for my knee, and in fact, my left heel has been bothering me ever since the injection in my left knee. It burns and is painful to walk on, but I keep pushing through. While I also suffer from extremely over-pronated feet, I have never experienced pain in either of my heels. Could be a coincidence, but I am not so sure. I am happy that it does seem to work for some people, though."
