For Type 2 Diabetes "I was originally put on insulin as a type one diabetic. Dr. later decided I was a type two, but my pancreas was on the way out. I was put on metformin and every other drug going, and they all upset my stomach. Glipizide is the only one with no real side effects, I just get occasional hypos and a dizzy head, but that’s it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’m type 2, and my BS kept spiking up just past the normal range even on a good diet. Dr. started me at 2.5 because I’ve had issues with all other meds. This dosage dropped my levels down about 30 points. Started on the full dose of 5.0 and it lowered it too low, like in the 70’s. Yikes! I’m told to go off it completely for now to see what happens, but honestly I’d like to stay on the 2.5 dose as it worked well for me. No side effects except a bit of constipation, but having IBS-D, I was fine with that!"

Glipizide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Metformin (2×1000) and Glipizide 2.5 for two years and have been able to keep my A1c to between 6.2 and 6.4. Trying to watch what I eat and get some exercise. No side effects. Working for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I had type 2 diabetes with A1C of 8.8. I was taking metformin 500 mg, 1 during the day and 1 in the evening. It didn't help, I had bad side effects, so I stopped taking it. I lost 40 lbs and was able to lower my A1C to 6.9, but had to literally starve myself. My doctor then put me on glipizide ER 10 mg tablet. Taking 1 pill daily with the 1st meal of the day has lowered my A1C to 6.4 within a month without me starving and eating and drinking everything I did before, including regular soft drinks. Best of all, no side effects. I love this medicine, it has helped me so much, and I'm still losing weight."

"I've been taking Novomix, and I had to go abroad. So I asked my doctor for a substitute for insulin because my blood sugar levels were between 190 and 250. He suggested glipizide, and now my counts are between 115 and 120. I have now been taking glipizide for nearly a month. I eat less than usual, and I exercise."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Glipizide ER 5 mg for about 2 months, added to Metformin 500 mg. No issues, other than a little diarrhea the first month. That has leveled off. It wasn't budging my numbers, though. I was running at 345 yesterday. Took 2 of the Glipizide ER 5 mg. My sugars this morning were at 125. Luckily, went to the doctor this morning, so he upped my new script to 10 mg for me to start once I run out of the current prescription, doubled up per his instructions. 2nd day, no real issues, but I guess a month out will be the real tell."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am a 67-year-old female, diagnosed with type 2 in 2023. I am slender, very active, and very careful about my diet, but I still developed diabetes. I started with Januvia, took it for 2 days, and had severe palpitations. Then I started Metformin, a low dose which helped for a little over a year, then my numbers were climbing (no changes to diet, exercise, etc.). We doubled the dose, then I developed a terrible allergic rash, so I quit it. I started Glipizide 2.5 mg ER 7 weeks ago. The first 10 days my numbers did not improve at all, and I was getting ready to be disappointed. But then they started coming down. With each week, my numbers have improved, dropping 30-60 per reading. I am very susceptible to side effects, but I have had none with Glipizide. I'm calling this my miracle drug. I am actually looking forward to my next A1c test!"

Glipizide for Type 2 Diabetes "When I first was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, it frightened me enough to watch everything I ate. I dieted hard and lost 35 pounds in about 4 to 5 months. My doctor prescribed Glipizide to go along with the dieting. I brought my A1C from 7.6 to 6.8 in the first 6 months. That was about as low as I could get my A1C, so I guess the Glipizide worked, but only marginally. The only side effect was I actually gained weight back when I stopped being as rigid with my diet."
