Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "Went on Repatha for 5 months. What a huge mistake, as reading all your reviews has shown me this is a horrible, poisoning drug. Calling an attorney. My whole life has changed from October 2019 until present. Thank you all and hope we all get over this soon."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "Injected 1st Repatha on a Tuesday, woke up vomiting and spiked high fever on Wednesday. Woke up Thursday with a horrible sore throat that progressively got worse as the day went on. Went to the doctor on Friday to see if it was strep throat, it was negative. It hurt so bad where my thyroid gland is located and I have sharp pain in my right jaw, weirdly, it didn’t hurt to eat. Saturday, I experienced body aches and fatigue. I had issues lying flat on my back due to swelling in my throat, it was hard to breathe. Sunday, I had horrible stabbing stomach pains followed by significant diarrhea. Tuesday, I woke up with swelling on the left side of my face, went to urgent care. Came back with subacute thyroiditis and Bell's palsy. Alerted Amgen, FDA, and my cardiologist of side effects caused by Repatha. I won't ever take it again, not worth all the side effects and sick days at work. The crazy thing is everyone acts like it's the first time they have ever heard of side effects with Repatha."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "After my 6th dosage of Repatha, I would rather die. I have four stents along with torn tendons and connective tissue disease that can't be explained. Frequent urination and problems. Neck, leg, and back pain do not allow me to sleep. Severe headaches, but the newest side effects are very scary to me...stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting for days after the injection, which I am sure will be my last. I am saddened after reading the reviews that this will last for quite some time. Only 55, feeling hopeless, and feeling like a 90-year-old every day is not the quality of life I was trying to accomplish. I hope there is help on its way. Thank you for the truths. I thought I was alone."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "Repatha is the worst drug ever. It sure proves there are no free lunches. It is really awful. I'm informing my insurance company never to pay. Are there any support groups for patients suffering from this product?"

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I took just one shot of Repatha on the advice of my cardiologist on 31st August, after statins intolerance which caused muscular myalgia. Now, even after 5 months, I am suffering from musculoskeletal disorders, gastric issues, insomnia, and constipation. I mentioned the side effects and I have them. My cardiologist quietly avoided it after showing this page. Any solutions, please advise. I am 52 years old with 4 stents and cannot manage the piercing stabbing back pain."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "Right now, and for over 2 months, my quality of life has diminished. Fever, extreme nasopharyngeal,... see 4 specialists from allergy, PUDs, ENT, and Gastroscope! CT scans, blood tests, extreme fatigue, chills, fever over 101, constant visits to IM. He is baffled. Repatha drug is pure poison, should be black boxed. My life is now awful. Flu-like symptoms for 2 months, extreme cough, laryngitis, neck pain, diarrhea blowouts. Horrible. Do not use this. The symptoms started slowly... after 3 months I was in a debilitating condition from Repatha."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "The cardiologist said it’s a great drug with little side effects. I had back pain and minor sore throat after the 1st Repatha injection. 24 hrs. after the 2nd, I was in the ER. My mouth, tongue, lips, and gums were starting to blister and burn with my throat and esophagus on fire. I was short of breath and having palpitations. I had lots of tests and labs. I received IV Solumedrol and respiratory treatments. I was sent home on 15 days of high dose Prednisone. I’m in the tapering period of the Prednisone and still feeling bad. Severe sore throat, weakness, and palpitations. The cardiologist did labs for electrolytes because I’m having symptoms of low potassium. I was told by the specialty pharmacist that dispensed Repatha the adverse effects could last for months because it could be in my system for a while. I regret taking this drug. I had reservations about it after researching it and reading the patient reviews. Lesson learned. Follow your gut feelings."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I started Repatha in May of 2021, it lowered my cholesterol quickly to 214 within a few months. I was happy with that result, but I knew something was really happening with my health. I told my husband something had changed in the last 6 months with my health. I didn't think about Repatha, I was told by my cardiologist and pharmacist there were no side effects from Repatha. I kept using it, and by January 2022, my mouth was totally covered inside with blisters and sores, I could barely walk, I was severely depressed, had severe headaches, and hip pain. I stopped taking it and tried it again 3 months ago to see if the symptoms were caused by something else! I kept thinking the doctor and pharmacist said no side effects. I am sitting here with a mouth full of blisters and sores, so weak I can hardly do anything, can't go for my daily walks, which I loved. I survived cancer twice, chemo and radiation were bad, but nothing like Repatha. I hope I can recover and have some quality of life left."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "71-year-old male, A-Fib fixed by ablation, no blood thinners. Prior high cholesterol. Cancer on the esophagus corrected with surgery. 3 medications for blood pressure and biweekly injections of testosterone. Repatha for 10 months. It has worked great - was 270. Now 134, LDL 55, and HDL 46. Total Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 2.9. Occasional leg/joint pain but cause unknown. When on Zocor (statin drug), developed chronic muscle pain that stopped my walking. Within 3 weeks of no Zocor, could resume my 3-mile per day walk. Recommend people with high cholesterol get more tests. Half of the heart attacks have low cholesterol so something else is in play. Recommend: Heart Calcium Scan, F2-Isoprostane/Creatinine, OxLDL, Myeloperoxidase (MPO), and Apolipoprotein B. If your cardiologist only treats high cholesterol, I would get a new cardiologist. I follow the Cleveland Heart Lab & Mayo Clinic. Leading edge of the medical profession is starting to see the real cause of Atherosclerosis."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "My first injection of Repatha was somewhat uneventful. The second injection began a nightmare! After about 2 days, I experienced dizziness, almost passed out 3 times, and had a headache that was so bad along with unbelievable back pain. I already have chronic back pain, but it was so bad I thought I would die. I called my cardiologist after suffering for 7 days, and she insisted it wasn't caused by Repatha and that I should visit my primary. I did, and she did blood work, a flu swab, and urinalysis. Everything came back normal. She reviewed the side effects of Repatha and said she thought it was from the Repatha. I started this medication reluctantly. It had been prescribed several months earlier and after reading reviews, I opted out. The next time I went to my cardiologist, she assured me that the side effects were minimal, so I told her I would try it. She said because my LDL was so high and because I had already had one stent, I really needed this drug. I wish I had not listened to her."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I was on Repatha for one month and saw my lab numbers dramatically improve until I developed severe leg pain, similar to that which I had while taking statins. After I stopped, my total cholesterol and LDL shot up higher than before I started. They have remained high after 6 months. I'm thin, eat mostly vegetarian and exercise every day. Has anyone quit and seen their numbers remain high this long?"

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I've always had high cholesterol, it runs in my family. I never could take statins, always had bad side effects. My doctor assured me that there were no side effects from Repatha. I was very reluctant to take it, but she told me if I didn't take it, I was going to have a heart attack and die. The side effects were so bad, the quality of my life went down. I was fatigued when I woke up, and I was fatigued when I went to bed. I missed a lot of work, couldn't hardly breathe, it was horrible. I will not take this drug again. I cannot believe the doctors will tell you that there are no side effects. Are we their guinea pigs? I'm so upset with my cardiologists, now I need to find a new one. How dare she lie to me."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I started taking this medication in February 2019. The first shot was not a problem. I actually felt better, but that quickly dissipated. Yes, it lowered my cholesterol dramatically, but I started feeling flu-like symptoms with aches and pains. After two months on this medication, I felt like I was hungover all the time. I also felt that my memory has been declining, I’m always in a fog. The worst feeling is that I’m only 48 years old and I feel like I’m 100. I’m tired all the time, my legs feel like lead weights, and all of my normal aches and pains are intensified. I wish my doctor would have told me about potential side effects because I never would’ve started this medication. Maybe that is why they didn't?"

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I started Repatha because I can't take any kind of statins. I am 21 years old and hard workout 5 times a week (gym). With statins, CPK in blood tests was going 800+, and its limits are 175. After the first injection, I was doing workouts like before, but after 5 days, I couldn't even move much pain (CPK was normal). I had to lower the time I was going to the gym. I talked with my doctor, and he told me to do 1 injection each month and not 2. I hoped that my body would get used to it and I would be better. Well, that's not possible. Before, I had so much energy I could sleep like 4-6 hours per day, now, if I sleep 8+ hours, I am still feeling tired. I feel my legs really weak, and I have pain in my muscles (that will stop if I sit on a couch all day). It's awful, you won't have any energy, and you will have muscle pain. It's my only choice because I can't take any statin (260 LDL) with Repatha 150, but no thanks, I have a life to live. If you start it, forget the life you had before. Sorry for saying this, but it's true."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "I have had high cholesterol all my life. Same as my mother and grandmother. I went on statins in my mid-30s. Started taking Repatha about three years ago. One injection every two weeks. My numbers came down greatly. I get my blood taken every three months or so. Lately, I have been having muscle twitching and cramping, mainly in my legs. I also feel that I have a type of anxiety, mainly feeling that in my upper body. I am getting a little forgetful as well. I am 58 years old and I exercise regularly. I also take a baby aspirin and 5 mg of lisinopril for blood pressure. I would like to hear from anyone out there that has similar side effects and any remedies?"

Repatha (evolocumab) for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I took Repatha for three months and then stopped it. I had leg pain for two months and could barely walk. Shoulder pain for 6 weeks, could not roll over in bed. Then it got in my hands. Terrible pain in both hands, only opioids would let me sleep for 4 hours. Had to doctor shop to get more. Could not open bottles. Could not use hand grip exerciser. Not at all. After one year I have my hands back, long time! Had to have carpal tunnel surgery on one hand during that time. Hands still weak. Bad stuff."

Repatha (evolocumab) for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I am unable to take cholesterol-lowering medications like Lipitor. They make me very sick almost immediately after taking. I was offered Repatha Sureclick shot to be administered every two weeks, and after reading the side effects, I was very nervous about taking it. But eventually, I decided I had to do something. So, I got my prescription filled and have been on it for almost a year with the only side effect being a stuffy nose the week after I take it. I am lucky that I have this medication. My doctor says my numbers are almost too low. I hope this helps someone in their struggle with uncontrolled lipids."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "I've been on every statin including Zetia. The statins did not lower my high cholesterol, which was combined in the 300s, and the Zetia helped but made me very dizzy, so my cardio suggested Repatha. I had no issues the first year except sinus issues. But then came the high blood sugar - (I'm 5’4, 113 and an over-exerciser). But the big one, which has now destroyed my life, is the low back pain. This isn't the normal arthritic pain, this occurs 3-5 days after the injection, and literally, I can't walk, sit, get out of bed, go to the bathroom, walk my dog, or drive. Nothing helps to relieve it because it isn't related to an injury or inflammation. That is why I take the drug once a month instead of as prescribed. I know I will be incapacitated. My cardio tells me it is all in my head because his wife is on it and she has no side effects. Yes, it has brought my cholesterol down to 250. But I don't know how much of this pain I can endure."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I have been on this drug for 1 year now. It has definitely lowered my cholesterol. However, now I have severe muscle pulls without doing much. Calf muscle strain, glute muscle strain, shoulder pain. My doctor said Repatha does not have these side effects. Bull! I am going to go off for 3 months and see if I feel better to see if it really is the drug. Will update."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I've been taking Repatha for about 2 years with minimal side effects. About a week ago, I started having severe muscle cramps in my legs, feet, and ankles. I decided to research how other patients feel while taking this med. Needless to say, I've had similar symptoms as others, but I never associated them with Repatha. I am now going to talk to my cardiologist for other treatments for high cholesterol as I can't take any statins. I have to do what's best for me without endangering my health."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I did not tolerate statins because of muscle pain and weakness. I was not aware of the severe side effects that could happen on Repatha. Diabetes was not listed as a side effect on the brochure that my doctor gave to me. While on Repatha, I developed a drug-resistant bladder infection, severe insulin-resistant diabetes, and severe shoulder and hip pain with profound weakness. All side effects have not improved since stopping Repatha a year ago. I am now wheelchair-bound. It dramatically lowered my cholesterol, but not worth life-threatening side effects."

Repatha (evolocumab) for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I received two stents in my left anterior descending artery (LAD) and felt great afterward. I did not have a heart attack, nor did I have a serious event. I caught the occluded artery before any issues. I had Repatha injections every 2 weeks as prescribed. I was a healthy, athletic 62-year-old man, and after the injections, I have been just about debilitated. I went to the emergency room several times and felt like I was dying. I have an inflamed gastrointestinal tract, inflamed joints, vertigo, SVT (supraventricular tachycardia), and many other issues. I stopped the injections after 6 months, and approximately 4 years later I'm just now feeling a little better. It has not been a good medication for me. Please be careful if you are prescribed this medication. I do not recommend it."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I took 7 injections of Repatha in an attempt to lower LDL because my doctor was going to put me on the non-compliant list. When I began having physical symptoms, I thought it was because I was working out too hard. I am 71 and was getting ready for a 3-month walking vacation in Europe, so I wanted to be able to walk several miles a day. I have been completely off Repatha since the first week of January and am still having extreme pain in my thighs (injection points) with loss of energy and muscle pains throughout my body. I feel like I'm walking on a tennis ball in my left arch and have stabbing knife pains in my right leg. They have really not dissipated since January, and it is now the middle of June. I am livid that my doctor talked me into this because I couldn't do statins and did so much research on cholesterol that I know how ridiculous it is to be forced to take this garbage. I am furious... I wonder if that is a side effect as well... I'm furious a lot lately."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I have always hurt taking statins and refused for over 15 years to take more than a few weeks, because side effects of pain, aching, memory loss. My heart doctor and family doctor pushed me into taking Repatha as my cholesterol was 553. In September 2016, I tried it and the first 2 injections were okay, no side effects. But as soon as I took the third, I have been in the most pain I have experienced in my life. Every joint, tendon, muscle, from my neck to my toes. It is now December 27, 2016, and the pain has just increased instead of decreased. If I lay down or sit for just a while, I can hardly move when I get back up. I never had problems in my hands or knees before but feel like I could fall when walking, and my hands feel numb with tingling and pain."

Repatha (evolocumab) for High Cholesterol "I'm a very active 63-year-old with a 4x bypass. After a year of not recommending any cholesterol treatment, I finally brought it up myself with my doctor when she recommended Repatha because of my statin intolerance. After my first injection, I started to experience muscle pain in my lats and pecs. It felt like a severe muscle cramp that spread to my arms, although my muscles were not constricting as they would with a muscle cramp. I conferred with my doctor, and she said I should not be feeling any side effects because it takes 3 months to reach a therapeutic level. So, I took the shot the second month, and I'm sorry that I did and will not be taking it again because the pain has spread to other areas."
