For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon put in July 2017, and just got it taken out January 2020. I should have just kept it in. I've since switched to the pill, and I've been taking it for two weeks. I'm bleeding, and my cramps are literally crippling. I've been miserable for three days. For the first three weeks after I got the Nexplanon, I was bleeding extremely heavy and had horrible cramps, headaches, dry mouth, and mood swings. Then it all went away. Over the last almost three years, I've bled four times, and each was extremely light and only lasted for three to four days. I didn't spot at all, and my mood was manageable. I was actually able to regulate my mood without my antidepressants and have since stopped those entirely. All in all, I recommend the Nexplanon to anyone that will listen. It's easy, worry-free, and I really enjoyed the way that I felt (after the first few weeks). The inserting/removal process was easy and took 20 minutes. I went to work right after."

For Birth Control "I have had Nexplanon inserted in August 2019 after an unexpected pregnancy. The insertion site was sore and a bit bruised, but healing time was just a few days. I was very apprehensive about trying a new birth control because the daily pills and monthly shots didn’t work for me. The first month was great, and I thought it would stay that way. No spotting, no cramps, no mood swings, then the next month came and the bleeding and cramping started! It was nonstop too. I suggest getting period panties because they are eco-friendly and also economical, so you don’t need to hassle with pads or tampons. I also bought a heating pad for the cramps and just hoped for the best. It's January 2020 now, and the bleeding has stopped, so just stay hopeful and prepare yourself."

For Birth Control "I had this inserted in February 2015. Two weeks later, my period began. There has not been a single day where I haven't bled. (It is now June 2015.) I've never really had an issue with acne, I'm now breaking out constantly. Constantly irritated aren't even the words. I always feel on edge and ready to punch someone. My sex drive is nonexistent. Sure, this thing works great at preventing me from becoming pregnant. Because I bleed profusely every day of my life, and sex doesn't even cross my mind. Before this, my periods were normal flow, maybe a few days long. I cannot even afford to keep buying all these feminine products. My doctor keeps trying to get me to wait it out, but I want it removed ASAP."

For Birth Control "I got the arm implant 8 months ago, and I LOVE IT!! Don't let the scary reviews freak you out. I haven't had any bleeding since the day I got it. No pain, no hormonal imbalances, or any issues at all! Really, it's the best decision I made. I didn't like the idea of something being inside me 'down there,' so this was perfect. Insertion was a breeze, they numb the spot and wrap you up when you're done, easy. Really, I have no bad comments about it. Give it a try, it might be just what you're looking for!"

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Nexplanon implant for 9 months now. I stop bleeding for like 5 days out of the month. The rest of the time I’m bleeding. Not always bad, sometimes just spotting, but still. It’s like it never ends. My depression had gotten so bad I had to be put in therapy. I never felt this bad before the implant. I never dealt with anxiety before I got it either. I did go to my doctor, and they told me symptoms would slow down after 6 months. It’s been 9 now, and I feel like they’re just getting worse. Not getting pregnant is a perk, but it’s just not worth damaging my mental health any longer."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nexplanon for four months now, I got it implanted in early October. I have been bleeding every day since November 19th, it is now the first of February. I have lost all of my sex drive, which used to be very high. I have gained twenty pounds, as I have lost motivation to do almost anything. It changed my skin tremendously. I used to only have a few pimples around my cycle, but now I am almost always breaking out. Pimples used to be isolated to my chin, but they are now all over my face, neck, shoulders, and chest area. I used to be a great sleeper, I cannot remember the last time I had a full night's rest with ease. I am now heavily considering getting it removed ASAP."

For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience with Nexplanon. Potential side effects were not disclosed to me, and when I brought them up to my Nurse Practitioner later, she completely downplayed them and refused to take the implant out of my arm. On this birth control, I had 2 month-long periods with only a couple of weeks in between. The periods were intense - significant bleeding, bloating, cramping through the whole duration of the period. I felt anxious, nauseous, dizzy, and tired on this BC method. I was told the symptoms become more mild over time, but after almost a year, this still did not happen. The first time I requested this be taken out of my arm, I was convinced to give it more time. The second time I went to the NP, I did not take no for an answer and was extremely adamant about needing this out of my arm. Please, ladies, do your own research because the medical establishment does not have your best interest in mind when it comes to this."

For Birth Control "I had the implant for about 7 months. I didn’t know if it was me or the drug, but now that I’m looking back, it all started about less than a month after I got it put in. I’m writing this after having had a mental breakdown last night. I have felt so attached to my boyfriend the whole time I was on this and couldn’t feel okay unless he was around, and even then I still didn’t feel great. I have been so distraught on this drug that I have put my needs above everyone in my life who I care about because nothing has been okay for me since. Constantly crying and no ability to self-regulate, complete darkness, and just a sense of hopelessness that I’ve had to fight every day. I called my doctor this morning to get it removed. I had felt inclined to get it removed about 4 months ago, but my constant bleeding was easing, so I thought my depressive mood might as well, but no, I kept it in for 4 more months to see if it was worth not bleeding and having birth control, but it was not. I cry all the time."

For Birth Control "I opted for this implant after I had my second child. I was taken off the pill a few months prior to my pregnancy due to ovarian cysts, so, after little lady's birth, I didn't want to go down that route again, so this seemed like a good idea. At first, it was alright. Light bleeding, not many more symptoms. Then I didn't have a period for just over a month, then I got my period and bled for about 6 weeks straight. Three weeks afterwards, I started my cycle again. In addition, I have had headaches off and on, as well as feeling like I'm sitting in the room but I'm far away from everyone around me. I think I've been intimate with my husband once in the 5 months I've had the implant. I lost all sexual desire. I am irritated with him all the time, especially for little things that we both used to find humorous. While this medication has been effective as a contraceptive, I would personally not recommend the roller coaster."

For Birth Control "Wouldn’t recommend. I got the implant in March 2019, and I think I have had 4 weeks of no bleeding, but the rest of the time I have been spotting and bleeding non-stop! My anxiety is through the roof 24/7, I feel on edge. I never used to be like this before I got the implant. And now I just feel like my life is a mess."

For Birth Control "Got the Nexplanon 2 days after I had my daughter. Everything was cool. I bled my whole 6 weeks, then my period completely stopped until the first week of Feb. I spotted for a few days (3). Started gaining weight after, and no matter how much I work out, I can't lose the weight! Lately, I've started getting headaches for 4-5 days straight. No matter what I take, I continue to have a headache and increased appetite. Really considering getting it taken out. The no period or pregnancy is the only great thing!"

For Birth Control "My experience with Nexplanon hasn't been the greatest. I got it inserted in August 2014 and had my normal period at the end of that month. It lasted about 10 days and then stopped. I then started back again 3 days later, and it lasted a further 3 days. I then didn't start back until the 27th of September 2014 and have had constant bleeding since. I decided to go to the doctors on Jan 6th, 2015, because the bleeding was becoming a hassle. She prescribed me Loestrin 20 pills to take to stop the bleeding. I started taking them that day, and my period stopped within a week... FOR ONE DAY! My period started back the very next day (15th Jan) and is getting heavier rather than lighter 2 days in (17th Jan). Prolonged bleeding is the ONLY side effect I had."

For Birth Control "I definitely would not recommend this for anyone. I got mine put in 2 months ago, and it was fine in the beginning until I started my period. Ever since then, I have been bleeding/spotting randomly. It's awkward during sex and ruins my clothes. Also, the depression side effect is real. I've been more down about almost everything since I got it. I plan on getting it removed as soon as possible. Like I said, I would NOT recommend this for anyone!!"

For Birth Control "I had the implant when I was 16 and got it removed after 8 months due to very annoying irregular bleeding. I’m 22 now and got the Nexplanon implant again. I’m so glad I took the risk and tried again! I used to be very forgetful with my BC pills and I wanted to have a more reliable birth control. I got it placed 2 months ago. Since then, I have only spotted once for about 3 days, a week after it was placed. And no periods or bleeding since! I haven’t had any mood changes, my libido is still high. I will say I noticed some vaginal dryness, but I started taking probiotics and that helped a ton. My BC pills before stopped me from getting my period for years, so I think my body is used to it, which may have helped when I got the implant. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Remember, most people only write reviews when they had a bad experience, so there’s not a ton of info out there about people for whom it worked well."

For Birth Control "Had Nexplanon for 6 weeks in 2015. Worst decision of my life. 1st week, arm sore at insertion, became painful, and then couldn't use that arm. Shooting pain, couldn't sleep on left side, and strength gone. Awful mood swings, hair thinned, plus 15 lbs in 2 weeks, bled horribly, large clots, always tired, heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, and no energy. All new symptoms. Became depersonalized and felt outside of my body looking in. One minute was intense emotions: sadness or rage, then emptiness. Horrible thoughts or blankness... don't wish that on anyone. Went to the ER twice to get checked for extreme bleeding, barely left the house. The tech looked for a sac, couldn't explain my 8-9 weeks pregnant thickened uterine lining. Said it was very strange. My doctor wanted me to keep it longer, but I was falling asleep, even sitting up, worried my 3-year-old and 7-month-old would get hurt, seriously concerned for their safety. Also got some acne. Removal day, I felt better, and in 1 week almost back to normal."

For Birth Control "I have been on Nexplanon for 2 and a half years now. The most terrible experience ever. No, you won't get pregnant, you'll be bleeding, so you will only RARELY be able to have sex. I bleed in 3-month intervals, 3-week intervals, and 1-month intervals. I am always bleeding. No telling how much I've spent on tampons! Trying to get an appointment to get this thing removed!!!"

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon in February. Since then, I have literally had a period for four months. It is going to be June soon, and I don't see it stopping anytime soon. I am soaking about 10 panty liners a day, including overnight use! This does not make me feel sick or nauseous, but it's VERY difficult to keep buying pads. I never spent this much when I didn't use birth control! I believe this is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy... BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WILL NOT TOUCH ME ANYMORE! He and I are both very insecure about my amount of blood. It is difficult to want to be intimate when it feels like a water slide! Overall, I am very displeased with this. I feel lied to. And I feel like this constant blood flow should've been talked about more often!!"

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon put in sometime last May. After 2 kids and 24 years, this was my first birth control, I figured it would be most convenient because I am horrible with taking pills. For the first 2 weeks, it was fine, but then after that, I bled for 90 days straight. I didn't feel any side effects until after that 90 days. I started feeling anxious all the time, and I don't want to get out of bed some days or even do any of my normal daily activities. I have been married for 5 years, and having sex with my husband was never a 'duty', but on this birth control, I am never up to it. It's horrible. Although not having a period ever now is nice, having all the other side effects are not worth it, so I am having this implant removed next week."

For Birth Control "Horrible. I have gained ten pounds so far, literally half of my hair has fallen out, I've been bleeding since I got it put in 6 months ago, it pinches my arm fat when I rest my arm downward, and it has made me insane, like I feel pregnant and hormonal and crying and angry, irrational, just crazy."

For Birth Control "This is my second round of three years each. I am on about year four. I feel like I've never been without my period, I have my period for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. It goes away or maybe a week or two if I'm lucky, and then I go again for 2 to 3 weeks. It's not even a monthly thing anymore. When I do have my period, it is dark and very chunky. Sex life stinks, I only have a week a month if I'm lucky. I'm 34 and I already have kids. I don't want to switch birth control because I was on the Depo shot when I got pregnant with my first child. None work but this, and it's probably because you can't have sex when you're always bleeding."

For Birth Control "My experience has been horrible. I got Nexplanon 6 weeks after giving birth. I had gotten pregnant while I was on the pill, so I wanted to try something different. I've been bleeding for three and a half months straight. Severe acne and mood swings. I've been feeling really depressed for no reason. I've gained 15 pounds I can't seem to lose. And this last month, I have been having horrible flu-like symptoms. It feels like it's taking over my life. I'm getting it out this month."

For Birth Control "I've had Nexplanon inserted about 9 months ago, Sept. 2013, and was on the pills before, which I didn't like. I bled for about a month lightly before it went away completely. Loved every minute of no periods, and it doesn't affect my sex life at all. In fact, I'm always wanting sex. Can't say anything about acne because I've always had it, and weight gain? I've gained 15 pounds, but I've always eaten a little more than usual, so I'm not 100% sure it's the birth control. Recently, though, I've had some dark brown bleeding, and I'm not sure why. It scared me into thinking I was pregnant. Once this stops and everything seems okay, I would definitely get another one in about 2 years."

From the time it was placed to this day, I have been bleeding every day! I have horrible acne, migraines, mood swings, weight gain, and NO sex drive. This thing is ruining my marriage! I thought the Nexplanon was going to be amazing, not having to remember a pill every day, but in 2 days, I'm having it removed!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Nexplanon for 6 months now. I had a pretty traumatic experience when I got my first period after getting it implanted. One afternoon, I started bleeding so heavily. I ran to the toilet, and it sounded like a urine stream. This continued minute after minute, I had to call 911. I was home alone with my 2 babies. I had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. It finally stopped being a dangerous amount at the hospital, and I was discharged. It hasn't stopped since. I spot bleed daily. It's getting quite frustrating, and I'm thinking of going on the pill. Plus side: no pregnancy and no worries about taking meds on time."
