For Birth Control "I've had this inserted for about 7 months. I love it. I have 1 period when it was put in and nothing after, but what I hate are the mood swings, and I feel kicking in my stomach. After multiple tests, I am not pregnant, but the kicking still is present for the time being, it's freaky!"

For Birth Control "I love Implanon so far. It has been a year since having Implanon inserted. I do have occasional back and chest breakouts, but just a pimple here or there. Nothing more than 2 or 3 at a time. Instead of weight gain, I have had weight loss without trying at all. Normally, during the winter, I put on anywhere from 5 to 10 lbs. Over the last year, my weight has decreased by 10 lbs. Initially, my mood swings were ridiculous. Now I may just be used to the mood swings, not sure! I haven't had my period since before insertion. It's worth a shot!"

For Birth Control "I give this a 5 because it does prevent pregnancy, yet so did my pill. Switched because I wanted something I didn't have to remember to take. Been on this for a year now, the first 5 months were alright. But the last 7 months I've noticed my period is heavy and gets me lightheaded. I have more migraines, which I never experienced before Implanon. Sex drive is way down, bad mood swings, and constantly tired. Before Implanon, I was extremely healthy, now I feel like crap almost every day. Getting removed once insurance starts up."

For Birth Control "I can honestly say I hate this form of birth control. I never would get a period until a few months ago, and for the past 2 months, it has been nonstop. My mood swings are everywhere. I'm gaining weight like crazy. This birth control is not even worth it."

For Birth Control "I've had my Implanon for about a year now, and I love it. I've had one period that lasted about a week, with very light bleeding. I do, however, get everything that comes with a period: the cramps, mood swings, all the emotions, everything but the bleeding at least once a month, as if I were on my period. Other than that, I have gained weight, but like most people, that's not just because of the birth control."

For Birth Control "December 1, 2008, I had the Implanon inserted and have had problems since. I have mood swings like crazy. I am now taking depression and anxiety pills because they think it was postpartum depression. It's not, though. I have been snapping at my 7-month-old son and husband. I was admitted to Green Leaf since they thought I was a danger to my family. Turned out that the Implanon is causing this. I cry all the time for no reason, and I am now taking depression and anxiety pills. I bleed all the time. The Implanon has been hurting since I had it done, I have gained 25 lbs because of this as well. I am taking it out this week for the sake of me and my family."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon for just over a year now, and I've never felt so low in my life. I suffer from mental issues, and I feel as this has made it worse. It is good for preventing pregnancy, but the side effects are too scary. I've had multiple pregnancy symptoms, which keep scaring me. I also gain weight, have no motivation to do anything, and really bad mood swings, which affect others around me, so I think it's time to take this thing out and see a bigger difference!"

For Birth Control "I've had my birth control in for almost 2 and a half years now and finally made an appointment to get it out next week. I was in denial that the zero sex drive, long-lasting periods, mood swings, depression, and 45-pound weight gain was because of that. Don't get me wrong, it does its job. Bc for me, I had no urge to have sex so there was no way for me to get pregnant. Hoping to see a turnaround in my life after the removal and hopeful to patch my relationships affected by my raging hormones."

For Birth Control "I have had it for a few months now and haven't had too many problems. No spotting at all, very light and short periods, although period pain has been a little worse than usual. No increase in appetite and no loss of sex drive. I like that I don't have to worry about it again for three years. My only real issue is I have noticed I'm having a lot more mood swings, though."

For Birth Control "I got it in Jan 2008. No period for 3 months, then I bled for 2 months straight. After that, 2 periods a month for about 5 days each... EXHAUSTING! Tired, sad, depressed, no sex drive, weight gain, anger, aggressiveness, sweet tooth, but the worst - THE HORRIBLE mood swings! The best thing about it, it didn't hurt when it went in, minimal tenderness after insertion, and I did not get pregnant! I seriously feel like I am going through the change of life at 28 years. I am having it removed in days. No clue as to how to prevent future birth control, but NO MORE HORMONES! Probably won't be an issue, hubby hates the new evil me!"

For Birth Control "I'm surprised to hear of other people's negative experiences with the Implanon, as my experience has been nothing short of amazing. I had my first implant put in at the age of 17, and I'm 23 now and currently on my 2nd one after continuous use. I am coming up to the end of the 3 years again, so I will be getting my 3rd implant inserted soon. I have never once had a pregnancy scare, and my periods are definitely lighter than they used to be. I don't even get my period some months, which is great. I don't think I have had negative side effects... Any mood swings I've had I don't believe are the fault of the Implanon. Insertion is quick and easy, and I've never had any bruising either. Genuinely surprised the Implanon is not more popular. I would not use any of the other current contraception on the market, as the Implanon is so easy for me and cheap as chips."

For Birth Control "I will give this birth control a 5/10 for the simple fact that I did not get pregnant for the 2 years I was on it. But I gained probably about 50 lbs (with no change in my eating habits, and I'm even more active), my boyfriend complained about my mood swings, I bled for the majority of the time whether it was heavy or light... I just couldn't deal. I wish I had come off of it earlier, but I enjoyed not being at risk for pregnancy. I got it taken out today, and I can't wait to get back to normal."

For Birth Control "It works, didn't get pregnant for the full 3 years, however, I had some mood swings from hell, headaches, anxiety, depression, dryness, and little to no sex drive. I didn't gain a lot of weight (maybe a couple of pounds). However, everyone is different, so side effects can be different."

For Birth Control "I have been using Implanon, now Nexplanon, for 5 years now. (3 years each) This is my second insertion after my first expired. Since then, I haven't had my period in ages. However, my appetite has taken full control, and weight gain came along. Sex drive has slowed down, and mood swings here and there. So yeah, things you will have to work on. Still, no pregnancy at all and no periods. It's like an extended vacation from Mother Nature."

For Birth Control "I would never recommend this form of contraception to anyone. I have never heard of a single woman (who I have known personally) who has had a good experience with the Implanon. I had it in for 7 months. I bled non-stop for the first 3 months, then did not bleed for one month and then bled again (consistently) for 3 more months. I had terrible anxiety and depression. My mood swings were horrendous and I was so uptight and moody. As soon as I got it out, within days, I felt better and my periods returned to normal (like clockwork). My husband said that I was not myself when I had the Implanon in and that having it inserted changed me into a completely different person."

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon inserted about 7 months ago. Since I had it inserted, I have been struggling with severe migraines, mood swings, acne, intermittent spotting that never really stops and can start at any time, lack of sex drive, and I have gained 12 lbs. I have not changed my eating habits, and I exercise frequently. After reading the reviews, I have now realized what is causing all these issues. For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon for about 4 months now, and I'm getting it removed in a few weeks. I've had no period since I've been on the Implanon, which is a MAJOR plus for me. But I have been an emotional person ever since it has been inserted. I'm seriously surprised my fiancé is still with me. I can't even stand to be around myself sometimes, I get so bad. Also, at random times, it will start to itch at the insertion point, and if I lay on my arm in an awkward position, it will pinch the rod. This is a really good form of birth control if it is inserted correctly, but it also has major side effects for some women."

For Birth Control "Ok, I got my implant in April 2015. Since I got it implanted, I have not had a period. It's now October 2015. My periods before I got the implant were regular every month for 3-5 days. Before the birth control, I had beautiful skin. I never broke out on my face, not even as a teenager. I'm 29 now. Since I had the implant, my face is always broken out with a lot of bumps all over my face. My weight has gone up. I have no urge whatsoever to have sex. I also get depressed and have major mood swings. Sometimes I get mad for no reason. I also feel fatigue at times and sleep way more. My husband wants me to take it out. He has noticed all the side effects. The only reason I have kept it in so long is because I don't get a period. I don't recommend."

For Birth Control "I never really share experiences on these forums, but if this helps just one other woman, then it's worth it. I had the Implanon NXT inserted in January 2018. I had no apprehension about using it as I had it several years ago, and it was great. This time around, though, I wasn't so lucky. Since January, my life has been extremely difficult. Aside from constant bleeding the first few weeks and gaining 10 lbs, the anxiety and depression have been the worst. It took me a long time to realize that the Implanon was the cause of my anxiety, paranoia, and mood swings. I felt like I was going crazy. I tried everything: holistic therapy, meditation, diet & exercise, and eventually, by process of elimination, I realized it was the Implanon causing my mental health issues. Implanon removed yesterday, and already I feel better in my mood, and my mind has slowed down. I've always been a mentally strong person and a fighter, who luckily never suffered from mental health problems."

For Birth Control "WORST THING I EVER DID! I have had the implant in my arm for around 2 and a half years, I didn't want to wait till the 3-year mark to get it removed, so I had it taken out today. I gained 28 lb from having it put in my arm with no lifestyle or diet changes. It made me angry and always sad/depressed. I used to be so happy and calm and never got mad easily, but with the implant in, I snapped at everything and had terrible mood swings. It affected me mentally. My periods were very irregular, I could be on for 1 full month and then off for 2 months, then come on for a week and so on. Such a horrible, life-changing drug. The worst thing about it for me was the weight gain, I used to be slim and fit, and now I'm fat, gone up 3 dress sizes! :( not good!"

For Birth Control "I can honestly say I hated this birth control. I haven't stopped bleeding since I got it a year ago. I can't hold anything with my left arm, otherwise, my arm just falls. It's made me gain 40 kgs, and I can't seem to lose it no matter what I try. My sex drive is gone, I'm always sick, and get the worse mood swings. Not something I'll be getting again anytime soon."

For Birth Control "I was on this for nearly 3 years and on my 4th one, each time was different. This time I was constantly bleeding, had mood swings, felt so depressed, gained 6 stone. Just felt like eating all the time, even sometimes no matter how much I ate I wasn't getting full. Also affected my mood/personality - one day I'm shy but another day I could be really confident. Had it out yesterday and feel so much more energetic. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone at all."

For Birth Control "I've been on the Implanon for a little over a year now, and I'm ready to have it removed! The constant mood swings, terrible acne, and constant nonstop heavy periods are just too much. My periods last anywhere from 12 to 15 days! I was told that it would eventually regulate, and it hasn't. Yes, it's effective because you bleed so much that you're unable to have sex! I have not had any pregnancy scares, but who wants to go through all the extra nonsense? I don't! I'm having it removed soon!"

For Birth Control "I had my Implanon inserted in October 2009 and had it removed today. At first, I was very happy, felt great, it healed super fast and easy. The skin around it did itch a whole lot. No rash, just incredibly itchy skin! The itching started about 2 weeks after the procedure when the original bruise went away and lasted for another 2 weeks. I was thinking I was allergic to it and almost had it removed, but the itching stopped just as suddenly as it started. I still had my periods, but they were irregular and not very heavy. I did gain 8 lb, not a big deal. Now, the reason I had it removed is I became SUPER emotional, always unhappy for no reason, often tired, had headaches, lost sex drive, and it just kept getting worse."
