For Birth Control "I wanted to write something here because after reading all the bad reviews, I almost didn't get Implanon. But I am so glad I did. I have had Implanon for four months. The first month, I did have three weeks of spotting, which was rough. But after that, I have only had very minor spotting once a month, like a period. I don't have any of the period pain I used to (headaches, horrible cramps), and I am much less moody as well (I used to burst into tears on the spot). I haven't gained any weight at all, although the doctor did say average weight gain in the first year is one pound. I can handle that after being on Natazia and gaining 30. I love Implanon. It's easy, and I barely have a period at all. Don't shy away because of bad reviews."

For Birth Control "I have always been on a diet and on regular exercise (about 2 hours a day). I stopped dieting for 5 months (precisely the first 5 months I had the implant), and I gained 12 pounds in that time, even with the constant physical activity. Even now that I have started dieting again, it seems impossible to lose the pounds I gained, and even more the fat in the abdominal zone. I have tried hypocaloric diets, cardio workouts, and still I can't get rid of them. Not to mention the devilish mood swings and headaches. Of course, it works as a contraceptive, but agh, WEIGHT GAIN."

For Birth Control "After having baby #4, I had the rod inserted. For the first 8 months, I had heavy bleeding and spotting, with a few days each month without bleeding. This was a nightmare, but I decided to wait it out. I’ve now had no bleeding for almost 3 months, no other issues besides mild headaches most days, which aren’t too bad. I’m so confused, I'm not sure if I should get a tubal ligation or stick with the rod."

For Birth Control "I got Implanon a little over a month ago. At first, it regulated my moods. Except once when I burst into tears over nothing, then was fine. Other than that, I don't notice any weight gain. I have been getting headaches, but I also have a cold, so I'm not sure if that's the birth control yet. I also sleep twelve to fourteen hours a day. I love this birth control, and I find myself poking it a lot. I recommend it."

For Birth Control "I had a birth control implanted in my arm 3 weeks ago, and I am having it taken out. I have experienced bad headaches, I break out, and have bad mood swings. Usually, I am a sweet person, but now I am the opposite. I am mean, and I don't like that at all. It has caused my relationship with my bf to be bad, all we do is fight. I would not recommend anyone to get this. My doctor had told me also I would not get a period, and I have gotten one already. I liked the fact it would last up to 3 years, but it's not worth all the stuff I'm going through."

For Birth Control "I'm having this thing removed in two weeks. I had it inserted a week or two after having my second baby and have only had two months where I have not been bleeding or spotting, and that was because they put me on birth control pills to 'regulate' things. It's also given me terrible mood swings and headaches. This is by far the worst birth control I have ever been on."

For Birth Control "I started the implant in May 2015, and it is one of the best choices I have ever made. I understand that it is different for everyone, however, my experience has been great. It has stopped all period pains, and for the past 2 months, it has completely stopped any bleeding. I had no side effects such as headaches or irregular periods. Getting it injected isn't too painful, and the bruising doesn't last long. I would recommend it to anyone, and it also means that you don't have to remember to take the pill or use condoms. It's great for some people, so don't get too worried, and just see if it works for you. If it does not, it can be taken out immediately."

For Birth Control "I'm definitely considering getting my Implanon removed. I was fine for the first couple of months, but now I am noticing all of the negative side effects I am experiencing. I've had it for about 9 months now, and I've gained about 12 pounds. I'm already uncomfortable with my weight, so this makes it worse. On top of that, I have been getting very depressed and moody. I still have crazy periods and am on one of the heaviest periods I've ever had, and it's very painful. Weight gain, low sex drive, acne, depression, mood swings, headaches, and crazy periods... I'm fed up. The positive is that I haven't gotten pregnant and don't have to worry about taking a pill every day."

For Birth Control "This week is the end of the 3-year period of my first Implanon. I will replace it for another one tomorrow. I love it, it's my favorite birth control. I didn't have to worry about taking pills, drug interactions, and so on. I had rare bleeding (just a little bit, less than the periods that I used to have with the pill), but just 2-3 days. I didn't have weight gain, emotional lability, headache, abdominal pain, or crazy hormone symptoms, nothing! It's like I'm not using anything. I recommend it! :)"

For Birth Control "I got the Implanon implant in May after giving birth to my third son in April. My doctor did not want to fix me because I am only 22, they said I would change my mind later. So I let them talk me into getting the Implanon. When it was put in, it did not hurt or bother me after. Then I started getting headaches, lightheaded or dizzy, panic attacks, and slight depression. I did not have a period until after 5 months of having the Implanon. Two weeks before, the headaches got worse, as did the panic attacks. Now I have to take antidepressants and anxiety medications, along with having to have my heart checked to make sure I do not have a heart problem. Before Implanon, I was very healthy mentally and physically. It works for some but not for me!"

For Birth Control "I had my implant put in in August of 2018. Great birth control. I’m down to my last month with it. I have no clue if mine ran out or not, but the last 5 months I’ve gained a ton of weight. I’ve had spotting, which I have never had. I haven’t had a period or any type of bleeding in over 10 years. I’ve had massive headaches, mood swings. Other than that, I have loved my birth control."

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon in May of 2010, and I have called my doctor multiple times to get it taken out. They told me to give it a few more months, and I tried birth control pills with it to regulate. I actually lost weight (appetite) and haven't had headaches, cramping, or loss of sex drive-all of which make me love it. The only problem I have is bleeding. I bleed when I go to the bathroom (sometimes), but I definitely bleed with sex. This does cause problems in my relationship. If it weren't for the bleeding, I would absolutely LOVE this birth control. I have no complaints other than that, and I sure do hope that the bleeding stops."

For Birth Control "I got my Implanon inserted on June 30th of this year, on the last day of my period. I may have spotted for 2 days after about 15 days of having it. However, it is now October 20th, and I have not gotten my period yet, no bleeding or nothing, and I am not pregnant. I may have gained about 5 pounds, but I won't blame the Implanon, I have been bad with my eating habits. I have not gotten acne, or cramps, or moods or anything, although I may have a little headache once in a while, but nothing else."

For Birth Control "Oh my gosh. I'm 17, and I had Implanon since June 18, and I've been on my period ever since. I get these crazy headaches, and holy shit, I have never had acne before, and now I have it, and it's bad. I have so many zits my face hurts. It's terrible, I don't want to go anywhere or see anyone with my face looking like a Crunch Bar. I've gone through so many packs of tampons. Luckily, I just bought this feminine cup called the Diva Cup where you put it in twice a day and clean it, and it lasts for years. I highly recommend it. Instead of putting tampons in, which are made from non-organic cotton, which is the reason why a lot of people get infections and cancer down there. Ladies, know what's inside your products. Good luck."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in summer 2009. I bled almost constantly for the first 3 months, and I almost gave up. I also noticed that I would get headaches if I didn't eat a good breakfast. The headaches stopped when the long bleeding stopped. My acne is a little harder to control now that I'm on Implanon, but it's not bad. Now I have light, 3-4 day periods, usually more than a month apart. No weight gain, I've been skinny my whole life though. No need to use a condom! My long-term boyfriend and I really like Implanon, it really is a 'no worries' method for us."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon placed in October 2010. Placement was a breeze, I had headaches and mood swings for about 2 weeks after placement, acne breakouts for about 6 months, light periods, but no other side effects. I took Oracea for 2 months, and that took care of the acne, it has not returned. Otherwise, absolutely no other side effects and no periods now. I was slightly overweight, so I decided to do something about it. I was worried Implanon would make weight loss difficult, but I actually dropped the weight without any difficulty. I would recommend Implanon to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I really wish I had a better experience with this! It was the best choice for me, and I did a lot of research. The only good thing it does is prevent pregnancy. I gained weight, my moods are crazy, and I wasn't very nice before, so definitely not good. I get random cramps and either a long period or none at all, NO SEX DRIVE! Not good. Headaches and fatigue. I want it out."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted after having my second child. I have had it for almost 3 years now, and I absolutely love it. I've had maybe 7 short periods in 3 years. Yes, it gives me headaches occasionally, but another child would do the same. I am actually wanting to get another one. I have been a little moody, but you just have to have relax time too (helps a lot). I have not experienced the decreased sex drive thing, so my hubby is fortunate for that. I would recommend this to anyone. It is better than any other birth control out there. That's my opinion, and I've tried almost every kind you can think of. I give it a 10."

For Birth Control "I got it in April 2010 (1 year, 11 months). I love the convenience, but thanks to this site, I am scheduled for a comprehensive medical test because Implanon appears to have given me unexplained headaches, fever, leg cramps, arm numbness, general body tiredness, a terrible mood, very sore nipples, bloating, weight gain (I went from 72 kg to 82 kg), and hypertension (I started drinking coffee excessively to keep awake in the office). My positive, very convenient birth control, regular period, no cramps. I guess I will stick out the negatives until next year, especially knowing that it is normal with Implanon!"

For Birth Control "I've had my Implanon for almost 3 years. Right after I got it put in, I had a period almost every day for 4 months! Now I have regular periods. I was lucky to have no period. I haven't had weight gain, headaches, my acne has gotten pretty bad but mainly around the time to start. Although it wasn't an ideal experience, I still loved it because I didn't have to remember anything or be extra careful."

For Birth Control "I do want to preface by restating a previous poster's statement about every woman's body being different and reacting differently to different hormones and birth control. The Implanon was my ideal birth control method. I had lost a lot of weight after my pregnancy, but my weight loss stagnated once I got the Implanon. I gained back all the weight I had lost and still struggle to lose weight. While I am concerned about my weight and health concerns related to being overweight, I am also concerned about my emotional and mental stability. Over the last couple of months, I have been getting a lot of headaches, which I have very rarely ever had, and I just wake up angry some mornings or I just don't feel anything. But you might not have these problems."

For Birth Control "I love this! I found the insertion virtually painless and only had a little bruise for a couple of days afterwards. I have a short (1-2 days) and very light period once every 12-13 weeks, which is a little irritating, but much better than it was! The only other thing I have noticed is I get headaches from time to time, which I never did before. This is the only reason I have marked it down. Definitely worth a try, and if you don't like it, you can have it removed."

For Birth Control "Having read all reviews onsite, I went ahead and had my Implanon inserted a week ago. Yes, it's early days, and this is reflected in the rating above for now as a new user. But I feel it's important to let others know my experience so far. It was inserted without any trouble by my GP, and with the local anesthetic, I didn't even feel a thing. When this wore off, yes, my arm is bruised and was very sore for the first 48 hours, but it is slowly getting back to normal now. At present, I have very mild headaches on and off, and lower back pain, but not enough to need to take anything to ease it. So all I am saying is when you are putting hormones into your body, yes, it will clearly take a while to settle down."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon for 2 years, and at first, it was great. I never had a period, and I surely didn't get pregnant. So for that, I liked Implanon. But the side effects were not worth it. I ended up gaining weight, which is something I can deal with, but I started to get really bad headaches, and it started affecting my vision and my daily activities. I was tired all the time, I slept for 15 hrs a day. I couldn't function at all, and it started to take a toll on my family and kids. They wanted their mommy, and I just couldn't be there like I should have. I just took it out last week, and I feel like a new person. I haven't had a headache. I feel so active, and I can now live."

For Birth Control "Ladies, I must say I am so relieved to read some of these reviews. I have never had a problem with weight in my life, and within 3 weeks of the insert of the Implanon, I gained 20 pounds. For the past 5 months, I have attempted to lose the weight, but it's fairly close to impossible. I've been on the Implanon for 6 months, and I have a removal appointment tomorrow. While I did not experience spotting or lower back pains, I did suffer with headaches very often."
