For Birth Control "I had mine implanted about 2 years ago. The insertion was easy, the only pain was from the numbing needle, which wasn't hardly any pain at all. I don't have periods, just light spotting every now and then. My face does break out now and then, nothing crazy. The only downside is that I have completely lost my libido. I am 30 years old and used to have a high sex drive, and now my sex drive is non-existent. Which is why I am planning to have this removed as soon as possible because I'm tired of living like this."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon in since October 07 - brilliant. For the first 6 months, I had bleeding/spotting. For the second 6 months, I got my period for 2-3 days every 2-3 weeks. However, since January 09, no period at all (whoopee!). I actually lost 4-5 pounds after getting it in due to the constant bleeding. My libido has fluctuated a bit every now and then (very, very high just after I got it put in and somewhat lower at the moment). I have several friends who also got it inserted: 3 had similar experiences to me, another had it removed due to anxiety/depression (but bear in mind she was only 16 at the time, which I think would be a bit young to get it!), and another had it removed due to bad acne. Everybody's different, it's worked for me, though."

For Birth Control "Worst experience ever. Acne on my face and back, which I never had before. Emotions everywhere. I have gained 25 lb in a year of having it, and I work out 2-3 days a week doing kickboxing and CrossFit, which I never worked out before this year, and I keep gaining. I have gone up 3 pant sizes. I'm getting this terrible device out of me next month."

For Birth Control "While the Implanon apparently works for some, I would 100% not recommend it. After having it in for a month, I then had my period for over 30 days straight, developed terrible acne, felt bloated and sick most of the time, and had constant cold symptoms. It definitely worked as a contraceptive, though, since I have been bleeding so much I haven't had a chance to have sex with my long-term boyfriend. I have been told it takes time for some bodies to adjust to the hormones, but to me, it is definitely not worth it. I feel anxious every day because I don't know if I will have my period or not, or if it will be heavy or light. I've spent a fortune on pads and tampons, and I'm sick of it. I am getting this ridiculous and debilitating bar removed ASAP."

For Birth Control "This form of contraception is great for preventing pregnancy, there is no worry of forgetting a pill. However, after 6 months, I've just had my implant removed. At first, it was fine, although periods are very irregular, they would happen unexpectedly. I suffered from mood swings, depression, low sex drive, and acne while having the implant. My appetite increased, constantly feeling hungry, and I gained some weight. My emotions were all over the place, I found myself getting far too emotional, crying quite a lot! I'm so happy that it is now removed, and I can look forward to feeling good again."

For Birth Control "I've been on Implanon for about 10 months now. And I have to say that I am extremely satisfied with the results! I've had no periods, which means no mood swings. Everything was leveled. I was worried about weight gain on this medication, but it's actually extremely easy to lose weight on Implanon if you are unsatisfied for whatever reason. Truth be told, I did break out really badly in the first few months, but after a regimen change, my skin cleared right up. I love Implanon, and I haven't stopped recommending it!"

For Birth Control "Avoid this if you can. I had my son in April and lost all of my baby weight and then some within the first month postpartum. At my 6-week ppd appointment, I decided to get the implant due to ease and effectiveness. Insertion was easy, and I was really looking forward to getting intimate again with my husband. Unfortunately, though, two weeks later, my sex drive was gone, I was having anger outbursts daily, and I fell into a deep depression. I began getting acne and gained 20 lbs rapidly. I realized that it had to be my birth control, so I had it removed. Two weeks later, I can safely say that my sanity, relationship, and body are all finally healing. Sex drive is rockin', I can smile, my energy is back, and I've lost 6 lbs!"

For Birth Control "I was a little nervous to have Implanon because I had read some reviews that were less than great. However, for the year I have had this birth control, I have not really had a bad experience at all! I've had about 6 periods, and all but one have been super light (like barely there) and had lasted about 2-3 days. I had one period so far that did last about 2 weeks, which was kind of annoying, but was still very, very light. My only other complaint is that before I get my period, I do have PMS, starting about 2 weeks before I start the period. My skin breaks out a bit, and I feel a bit moody and bloated, but that's all. Other than that, it's a great birth control, and I like not having to worry about getting pregnant or taking a pill every day!"

For Birth Control "I started this option not to prevent pregnancy but to reduce painful cramping. The results are mostly good with a few side effects. After getting the implant, I stopped having my periods and pain, but there were a couple of negatives: 1) Acne. Now my face breaks out even from hot water. 2) Nervousness. I noticed that I had a significant increase in anxiety. 3) Very difficult to maintain weight. Eating nuts or heavy carbs is very bad with the impact of the impact; bloating, etc. Calorie intake may have to be reduced to stay the same weight (at least for me). I am satisfied with the product as it did fix the problem. However, I wouldn't recommend people taking this under high stress, poor health, or if they are trying to lose weight."

For Birth Control "I have had Implanon for 3 years. I never had weight gain, mood swings, or pain, but at the end of the 3 years, for a few months, I did get severe acne, depression, and weight gain. The two and a half years without periods or the worry if I could get pregnant is worth the few months of acne and weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have had this birth control since April of 2012, having it changed last year. I have my own bouts of anxiety and depression, so that may contribute to some of my issues. But I can say that I have gained a lot of weight since being on this birth control, even when I was walking 10 miles a day and barely eating. I only lost like 15 pounds at most. I started off at 155 with this implant after having my son. Once I started being more active, I made it to 140. Now, after just 4 months of not walking 10 miles a day but still being active, I am up to 171 lbs. It's ridiculous. I plan on having the copper IUD inserted soon. I also have trouble with breaking out a lot, mood swings, and a non-existent sex drive."

For Birth Control "I've had the Implanon put in 2011 and taken out in 2013. Then the Explanon put in 2014 and taken out today, 10/19/2016. As far as preventing pregnancy and no period (for me), it's exceptional. BUT I've gained 40 pounds over the course of 2 years, and it's nearly impossible to lose weight while on this birth control. Also, I did get breakouts on my face from bad acne from time to time. Now, I'm currently getting ready to try the 'mini pill'."

For Birth Control "I have been on the Implanon since 01/31/2015. For the first two or so months, I didn't experience a period. They recommend that you get the Implanon inserted while on your period, and I did. Since having the Implanon in, I have had little to no side effects that I can attribute to the contraception. My sex drive is normal, I get a bit more back acne than I am used to, but cleanser has sorted that out quite well. I have gained around 8 lbs, but the weight gain is a result of a lifestyle change (eating less healthily and moving less due to studying at a computer), and I've found that when I go to the gym and eat a little better, it shifts quite easily. It cost $37.05 for the actual implant, and the associated visits were free. I love it! :)"

For Birth Control "This Implanon has been the worst birth control I have taken. I've had terrible breakouts, nonstop spotting, loss of libido, and it's causing me to get agitated over every little thing. This birth control has caused me to fight with my boyfriend every single day and has slowly been pushing us apart. I'm ready to get this thing the hell out of me."

For Birth Control "Only giving it a 3 because I didn't get pregnant on it. Otherwise, it hurt like crazy to put in, bled nonstop for the first year and a half (seriously). I gained 50 pounds. Couldn't lose weight even on a strict diet and exercise. I 100% lost my sex drive. It would hurt where the implant was. Had acne in places I didn't know you could get it. Very expensive to get removed without insurance. Got it removed a week and a half ago, and worst pain and discomfort during removal, and I'm STILL bruised. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy."

For Birth Control "I thought having birth control was a good move considering I already have a son and I'm in college and go to school, but now I wish I would have gotten this thing removed a while ago. I used to experience nausea and back pain. Now I just have headaches, dizziness, extremely long menstrual cycles, the cycle has lasted almost a whole 3 years. No sex drive, mood swings/depression, hair loss, and I get so tired that I feel like I've been run over, and acne. All of which are side effects, and I feel so alone with it. I will never try to force my body to accept something it doesn't like again. This has damaged my relationship with my man in more ways than one."

For Birth Control "I got Implanon put in about a year ago. The first month or two I had light spotting for a few weeks, then after that my period and any bleeding has stopped altogether. I have not experienced any weight gain. I've actually lost about 20 lbs, but I have an active lifestyle and eat sensibly, so I can't say this helped me lose weight, but it may have. I have been struggling with acne for years, and it has been under control the past few years, so I was worried about what a new birth control would do to my skin, but my face acne had no changes. My only complaint about Implanon is that I've started to get some shoulder and back acne. I don't feel overly hormonal like I have on my past oral contraceptives. I really enjoy this birth control overall."

For Birth Control "I had this implant for 2 years. Now, the thing I noticed about myself was that I gained a lot of weight, and I would have the worst depression phases. I have acne, and I'm always tired some days. I feel so dizzy or nervous, and my period has been going on for months. I also have no sex drive at all. It's a mess, hoping to get this thing taken out soon."

For Birth Control "I’m 18 and have had my Implanon for a year and a half. I have not gotten pregnant or had the burden of taking a pill every day, but since I’ve had it inserted, I have gained about 15 lbs and developed really bad acne on my face and body. I also have only had 2 periods. After the first month of having it, I bled nonstop. I’m having mine removed this week."

For Birth Control "Had the Implanon for 5 months. What I experienced was bleeding every day and that I had to wear a tampon every day for 5 months. I didn't even know when I had my period because it was like I had my period every day. Makes your face break out, weight gain, and my sex drive disappeared. If I would have read these reviews, I never would have gotten it. The removal procedure was also extremely painful. I would not recommend anyone taking this, as there are much better ways. It is not worth it at all."

For Birth Control "I had Implanon inserted in May of 2009. I was a little scared at first because I was reading all the side effects and reviews. I absolutely LOVE the Implanon birth control. I had no weight gain, no mood swings, and no acne. When I first got it, I bled regularly for about 6 months. It stopped, but since year 2 of me having it, I have had a regular period monthly that only lasts about 5 days. It is very, very effective...(believe me, it has been proven several times). I would recommend this to anyone that still wants kids, but wants them a little spread out in years."

For Birth Control "Implanon is great, no regrets. 1. Never had acne, did not get acne. 2. Used to have really bad period pain, including cramps, nausea, throwing up, fainting, no temperature control; on Implanon this is mostly gone. 3. Periods are irregular - on my second Implanon now, and I’ve gone 4 months since insertion with one light period. Had a similar experience with my first one, but towards the last 6 months (after 2.5 years of barely any periods) had periods every fortnight for a month and once a month. 4. Mood - felt a bit crazy towards the last 6 months of my original one. Hard to explain, definitively wondered if irritability was related to Implanon, especially with irregular and increased periods. 5. Weight gain - hard to tell if poor lifestyle or aging is a factor, but gained a lot of belly fat and 10-15 kg heavier than I used to be. Can probably be fixed with improved lifestyle choices though, so overall still happy with outcomes from Implanon."

For Birth Control "I've had Implanon now for almost 5 years. I have gotten it changed out at my 3-year mark. The insertion process is similar to an IV getting put in. The second time, a piece of cake; a pinch. After the insertion, the first time, it was swollen and sore for 2 weeks, but that's normal; your body needs to get used to it. The second time, it healed in a week. It was inserted in the exact same spot one was taken out from. Since being on this, the first year, periods were sporadic but normal, then they waned off; the last few months before I changed my implant, I had light spotting for a few days, and then after I changed it, no periods at all. I have had no pregnancies, mood swings, or weight gain. No hormonal changes via sex drive or breakouts. I love it."
