For Menstrual Disorders "I started taking Loestrin Fe in June 2016 due to heavy menstrual bleeding and debilitating pain. I had gastric bypass surgery and found my periods got worse. My GYN provider recommended this pill. The first few months were very difficult due to mood swings, daily spotting, and painful cramps. There were times I wanted to stop the pill, but I stayed on it. About 4-5 months later, I noticed things were a bit better. My periods are much lighter, and the cramps are more tolerable. I am not laid up and overly cranky the week before my period like before. Instead of getting my period once every 2 weeks, it seems to be moving towards 3-4. For reference, I am 38, not sexually active, and do not have children. Hopefully, things will get even better."

For Birth Control "I am a healthy, 15-year-old girl that decided to start taking Loestrin 24 as a birth control. I've been on it for 4 months. My periods are only for the 4 days that I am off the pill, and I spot irregularly in between periods, but not very often. This pill has made me cry much more easily, but I have not become depressed. I haven't gotten pregnant either, so it works. This pill is very effective and doesn't have many side effects, recommended."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 4 months now, and it's great. My period lasts only like 3 days on the sugar pills, experience barely any cramping. The only downside for my body was that this pill makes you spot on and off, so I keep having to wear a panty liner, and it makes me really emotional, like I cry over everything, and I was never that sensitive. I haven't gained that much weight, but I will say it makes me have an appetite like a man! It cleared up my acne too. I do recommend this pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this pill, which is my first birth control pill ever. I am 34, and the first month I took the pill, I had some nausea, which seemed to be on a timed schedule. I started the first pack on a Sunday and did not take the placebo pills at all. I just kept taking the active pills, and the next month I did not have a period, but by the second row of pack two, I started spotting. Now that I am on pack three, I have been bleeding for an entire month. I will take the placebo pills at the end of pack three because I think my results are my own fault. I just thought if I kept taking active pills, I would not bleed at all. For the most part, I have no issues that were not caused by my own actions, I have lost two dress sizes."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been on Loestrin 24 for around 5 months, and I am overall very happy with it. I am 16 and sexually active. The first three months were bad in terms of side effects: lots of nausea, acne, spotting, and cramping. But from the get-go, I went from heavy, long periods to very short light periods. For the past two months, I have had just spotting for around 3 days, not exactly in correspondence with my brown pills but close enough. I no longer get bloated on my period, I do still have acne around my time of the month, but that can be attributed to my negligence of going to the dermatologist in half a year. It worries me that some people get no period at all because pregnancy scares are definitely not my favorite. But now I feel safe and satisfied."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 32-year-old woman, and this is the first time that I've taken birth control pills. My doctor recommended birth control pills to alleviate the pain I was experiencing and heavy bleeding associated with uterine fibroids. I am currently on the second week of the pack, and the only complaint I have at the moment is the breakthrough bleeding or spotting after my period. I've only been spotting for 5 days and hoping it will go away. I've noticed a new breakout-a pimple, but occasional acne is normal for me. Haven't noticed any weight gain, but after reading other reviews, I purchased a scale to monitor my weight. Will keep you posted as I continue to take the pill."

For Birth Control "I was on this for one month, and for that entire month, I hated it. I’ve been on different pills before-Marlissa and Apri-which both made me nauseous and moody, but Lo Loestrin was pretty bad. I was spotting for a week and a half before my period, and I even got my period two days before I finished my active pills. That had never happened before with any other birth control pills I was on. Also, the period I got was excruciating. My ovaries were rock solid, and my cramps were terrible. Plus, I was bleeding way too much for being on birth control."

For Acne "I have never had perfect skin, however, after taking this pill, it is in horrendous shape. My doctor gave me a 3-month trial, and I was told to come back after that time frame to see how it was reacting with my body. In these 3 months, I noticed my skin slowly getting worse (mainly jawline and down my neck), and I was also having no periods and was also feeling moody and tired all the time. My doctor wanted me to stick with the pill for another 3 months to see if everything started to even out. At month 5, I have cystic acne down my neck. I still don't have a 'real' period, just random spotting during the month. Also, I don't feel tired as often, however, I sleep about 11 hrs/night to feel refreshed. Definitely don't recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I was taking Microgestin for 4 years and switched to test out if the other BC was giving me weight gain. Never got around to the experiment because Loestrin was a nightmare. I had spotting every day since day 5 of the pack. Then cystic acne started popping up, and I couldn't control it with anything! With the other BC, I was able to control it, and it at least went away like a normal pimple, but this acne is painful and HUGE. Combined with the constant spotting and losing all my good thongs to the BC being sassy, I decided to switch back. Based on other reviews, seems like these side effects aren't going anywhere."

For Birth Control "I am 16. I was on Loestrin for 5-6 months, and at first, I did have some spotting/bleeding (but I had also taken my pill late the first few months, so maybe that was why). Before I got on the pill, I had a very heavy period, and I would go through 7 tampons sometimes in one school day. Loestrin did thankfully make my period a lot shorter and lighter, however, sometimes I would have a discharge the week before my period. I did not have any weight gain, but the pill caused me to have MAJOR mood swings towards my 4th-6th month. I was depressed sometimes and would feel the need to cry a lot. It was affecting my friendships and relationship. I just switched to Lutera on Sunday, and hopefully this pill won't have any side effects."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am only 16 and have taken this pill for 3 months and am FINALLY switching. While on the active (white pills), my periods lasted 13 days, which is more than twice as long as they lasted before going onto the pill. I experienced severe spotting throughout every single pack, as well as horrible cramping and mood swings."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill since November, it is now mid-June. I have not had any spotting, any bleeding, nothing at all! This pill is definitely supposed to regulate... not eliminate! I can admit that I'm enjoying not having a period at all, but I just made a doctor's appointment just to check that everything is fine, and that when the time comes for us to want kids, everything will be normal."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 for 6 months. No mood swings or side effects, but I just switched because my breakthrough bleeding got bad. I would have spotting off and on, and then I was having a period the week before my brown pills. My doctor said this level of estrogen was too low for my body, but otherwise, I think it was fine."

For Birth Control "I would have given this a higher rating, as I used to love this pill. I went through 3 months in the beginning of irregular periods, which I knew would happen, and once that was over, these worked beautifully. No mood changes, no weight changes, regulated my period for months, and now I've been on it for a year? Maybe? And for the past 2 months I've had my normal period, and then ANOTHER period 2 weeks into the new pack of pills. In 2 months I had 4 periods. Then the next month it was regulated, and now AGAIN, 2 weeks into the pill I am spotting AGAIN. This is ridiculous."

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old and generally eat well and maintain an active lifestyle. I started using Loestrin 24 Fe in April to deal with excessively heavy and irregular periods that started being a problem in January. In the three cycles that I've been on it, I have gotten my period 6 times with irregular spotting in between, so it is not at all having the effects I was hoping for. Another complaint is that I've gone from 130 lbs to 140 lbs with no significant changes in diet or activity."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm on my second month on this pill (it was a 3-month free sample), and I have been pretty good with making sure not to miss (I have missed once or twice by an hour tops). I am not perfect. But honestly, I have gotten constant bleeding and spotting in an unfavorable color. I am trying to wait out till my gyno appointment next month, but I went on this pill for protection, but mainly because I was fainting/having awful side effects on my periods, and it's now recurring at a larger scale. This was supposed to be my first pill, but I feel like it's been an awful experience."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I started this birth control, and it has been the worst experience. My periods were always regular on time, and I barely got cramps or back pain. On this pill, I have been getting really bad back pain and bad cramps to the point it wakes me up at night. I never spotted, and on this pill, I spot every two weeks, but this month it feels like a regular period... It's not convenient whatsoever. The only pro I could say is a bit larger breasts. That's it!"

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm on my second month of taking Loestrin, the first month was just fine, although I've had migraine headaches since taking this pill. Now, in my second month, I've had spotting, light breakthrough bleeding, and cramps on and off. My doctor told me to stick with it for another month. My periods are much lighter and fewer days, which is why I started taking this birth control pill to keep from becoming anemic again."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for two months now. I have had no ill side effects, no weight gain, spotting, acne, or hair loss. My sex drive has not changed and is still in healthy working order. I feel exactly the same on the pill as I did off of it. I did manage to lose about 3 pounds without a change to my diet or increased exercise. I also recently went to buy new bras since I went from a 36C to a close 36D, which I am attributing to the pill. My first period on the pill was crampy, although I did start my first pill pack after I had ovulated. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this pill."

For Birth Control "I’m on month 2 of Loestrin, which my gynecologist recommended for me as I didn’t want something with a lot of hormones. The first month, I had lots of spotting that would come and go at inopportune times, but that stopped after my first period on the pill (which lasted only 2-3 days and was light). However, my body and facial hair have been OUT OF CONTROL. Plus, some acne and shrinking boobs. I told the gynecologist, and she just prescribed me Gianvi, which is supposed to block the male hormones. Reading those reviews, it doesn’t look good either, but I’m thinking that the anxiety is just something that’s going to come with the birth control territory. (I tend to have anxiety both on and off the pill, but definitely worse on it.) I’m glad I read some of these other Loestrin reviews because I considered sticking this pill out for a few more months, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to get better!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Loestrin 24 for a while. I am coming off of it because it causes me to have very bad headaches and spotting a lot. Sometimes with this pill, I have my period every two weeks. It does help me with my cramps a lot. It's like I got rid of one pain and got another. The headaches from this medicine are unbearable at times."

For Acne "If I could rate this a zero, I would. I have suffered with painful periods since seventh grade and finally went on the pill two months ago. I have had near-perfect skin my entire life, and my skin is so terrible now that even my mother, who is the type to say it's not that bad, is extremely concerned. My breasts are also extremely sore, and I have been spotting so badly that I have to wear a pad, not even a panty liner. My doctor is not even telling me to stick it out for the next month, I'm switching pills next week at the start of my next period. Do not do this to yourself, especially if you have clear skin to start with."

For Birth Control "I spotted for a few weeks at first, but it never happened again. I had short, 2 or 3-day periods, only minor cramps, no nausea-a huge one for me because I have a sensitive stomach, no moodiness, no weight gain. It was almost like not being on the pill at all, except that I immediately noticed that my generally clear skin was breaking out like crazy with really painful cystic acne. I assumed it was just an initial breakout and tried to wait it out, but I just recently quit after 4 months because I couldn't handle the horrible acne. I did a lot of research and its progesterone is very androgenic and is known to cause acne. It's a shame because otherwise, it was perfect. Because that was my only side effect, I'd still recommend it though."

For Birth Control "I did a lot of research and asked my doctor to put me on Loestrin, being that it had a lower estrogen dosage. I started taking it before I went to bed every night, as instructed by my doctor, so as to sleep off some of the initial side effects. I had some small headaches week 1, but other than that, I've loved this medication! The only issue was that I had some mild spotting about a week before my placebo pills for the first two packs. Lighter, shorter periods, smoother skin, and NO CRAMPS! Love this pill."

"I have been taking Loestrin 24 for about three and a half weeks now. I am new to the birth control world. Good thing we have this worldwide net to receive advice and concerns from others who experience the same thing. Anyway, so far this medication scared me in the first week due to continuous days of spotting, then the second week would consist of two days of spotting and the third, then finally on my fourth week it's been one day that I have spotted, yet I still have a couple more days to go. I haven't had any cramps or headaches, but I may have felt a little bit irritated at times. One thing that I don't care for about this medication is the pimples on my face."
