For Birth Control "So I’m a 38-year-old mom of four and started this pill only to stop having a period (I skip the last week of pills and go straight into taking a new pack of 3 weeks of white pills after taking my last white pill in each pack). My tubes are clamped, so I literally just wanted to stop bleeding completely, and my doctor okayed it for me to do so. It has my skin looking flawless, my mood swings and depression are completely gone after being on this birth control just 5 months so far, and in itself is a godsend cause. I was struggling extremely hard with my moods and all-around mental health, it’s almost like my hormones were always out of whack after having my last child, but now are totally on track. I have lost over 10 pounds and am now 5’6” and weighing 119. My boobs did hurt really bad the first two months, but that has stopped, and they have now grown a cup size larger. This birth control has changed my life for the better, and I never see myself going off of it."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for about 4 months and have not had any bad experiences. I have gained weight, but it is because I eat like a pig and don't exercise! I have some cramping around when I will get a period, but that's about it. My periods are VERY light and sometimes only a bit of spotting. Some breast tenderness and a bit of moodiness... but nothing that isn't manageable. I'm very happy with this one."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 for about 3 years. I switched because I could no longer get the coupon, and it was too expensive. Initially, I noticed some stomach pain, but I have endometriosis, which could have caused that. My periods were non-existent after the first year. I went the entire year without a period. I did not have mood swings until I switched to Loestrin 10. Over the past few years, I have had consistent weight gain without changing my diet or exercise routine. I am not sure if that is due to the medication or an underlying problem. I did not notice any breast tenderness/swelling until I switched to Loestrin 10 either. I have now switched to Generess and am on my 4th day: extreme nausea. I may just pay the $50 for Loestrin 24 every month."

For Acne "I started this pill three months ago (what a mistake!). Not only has it messed up my skin, but I have been a hormonal wreck. Other side effects include breast pain and severe headaches! I do not recommend taking this pill, especially if you are looking to clear your skin."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 5 and a half months. For the first 2 months, it was horrible. I was bleeding consistently for like 20 days in a row, and the bleeding would only stop for a few days every couple of weeks. I was extremely moody and angry, and I did gain a little bit of weight. Also, my acne went away slightly, but nothing dramatic. On about the 3rd month on the pill, my period FINALLY started getting normal. The breakthrough bleeding stopped, and my period is now very, very light and not painful. I get breakouts and breast tenderness the week before my period, but it's not bad at all. My advice to those who just started: WAIT IT OUT. It's incredibly frustrating, but it takes a little bit of time for your body to adjust!"

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever used. My breasts ache, it makes me cry uncontrollably, makes me have mood swings, and a buzzing feeling in my girl parts. I have spoken to other friends that have used it, and they continued to take it even after the crazy symptoms. They leveled out in 3 months. Really?! My male OBGYN will not change it, so I stopped taking it, and within 2 weeks feel drastically better. I have since changed doctors because of him not changing the pill. Obviously, there is a kickback involved."

For Birth Control "I am so happy to find these reviews. I originally tried Loestrin 24 a few years ago, and it was great! However, I went back to school and could not afford it anymore. I started using it again a few months ago. I felt tired all of the time and never had any energy. I would always get really bloated, experienced symptoms of pregnancy. My mom was even convinced I was pregnant due to my symptoms, breast tenderness, but I decided to stay on this pill because I now have short periods. I can wear a pantyliner when on my cycle and cramps only the 1st day of my cycle. However, I have been a nut basket, my moods are all over the place. I am always angry, sad, crying for no reason, argumentative. I couldn't figure out why."

For Birth Control "I was put on this after my Mirena (which migrated) and didn’t want to do another IUD. Was on lo lo a year and didn’t have a good experience. I never missed a pill and took it the same time every day! I had breast pain constantly. My acne was so much worse on this, like I was a teenager again. My periods were very irregular, sometimes I wouldn’t get it, and sometimes I would get it 2-4 weeks straight. Didn’t matter where I was in my pill pack either. The worst part was how much worse it made my anxiety. I didn’t realize until I started tracking it and noticing on my placebo pills my anxiety went down. Ever since I’ve stopped it, my anxiety is almost GONE, my skin has cleared up significantly, and my breast pain went away. I know some people for whom this worked and some it didn’t. Unfortunately, I gave it a good go to see if it would get better, and it didn’t. Oh, and my insurance didn’t cover this, and there’s no generic. They do have a coupon card online."

For Acne "If I could rate this a zero, I would. I have suffered with painful periods since seventh grade and finally went on the pill two months ago. I have had near-perfect skin my entire life, and my skin is so terrible now that even my mother, who is the type to say it's not that bad, is extremely concerned. My breasts are also extremely sore, and I have been spotting so badly that I have to wear a pad, not even a panty liner. My doctor is not even telling me to stick it out for the next month, I'm switching pills next week at the start of my next period. Do not do this to yourself, especially if you have clear skin to start with."

For Birth Control "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe after taking Tri-Sprintec for 4 months and experiencing depression and mood swings. I just finished my 3rd pack of Loestrin 24 Fe, and I did not get a period each of the 3 months. I took a pregnancy test, which was negative. Reading these other reviews makes me feel at ease that this is not unusual with this pill, but I am still planning on calling my Dr. I felt like I had all the physical signs of getting a period each month, but nothing at all. Other than no period, I only had sore breasts at the start of pack 3, but that went away in 2 weeks. I do experience nausea, but I get that with every pill I have tried so far. Not sure if I like a pill where I don't get a period."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for a little over a week. So far, I have experienced extreme mood swings over the past few days, slight weight gain, and breast tenderness. These all seem to be similar to other reviews. However, I am going to stick it out for a few months to see if my body gets used to the hormones. I read that it took one woman three months for her body to adapt to this birth control, so I hope I have a similar experience. However, I know that each person responds differently to any kind of drug or hormone. Oh, the joys of being a woman!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin for about three years now, and all in all, it's not a bad pill. One thing I would have to say, though, that I hate about this pill is the weight gain. In the first six months of this pill, I gained 25 pounds! I was always a skinny girl, so you can imagine how awful it is in six months to go from a size three in pants to a size eleven. After that, I have not gained any weight, though it has been very hard trying to lose the 25 pounds. More things that I've noticed that I haven't liked are mood swings at least a week before my period, tender breasts, and irregular periods. It's been two years for me on this pill, and I will go three months sometimes without having a period. Aside from the rapid weight gain, this pill is okay."

For Acne "I started using Loestrin as directed by my doctor. First Sunday after getting my period. 2 weeks later, I got my period that lasted about 21 days. I stopped taking the pills, and my period stopped 3 days after. I had terrible mood swings, and now I haven't taken any birth control pill for the last 3 weeks, but my breasts hurt so much that I don't let anyone hug me."

"I'm nineteen, and this is my first time on birth control. I'm NOT having a good experience at all. I have been bleeding for fifteen days straight. I'm always dizzy and have constant headaches. I'm always depressed, and the breast tenderness is non-stop. I think I'll be coming OFF it."

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old, and this is my fourth birth control. I have had problems with ovarian cysts since I was 14, so my doctor put me on birth control to help with the pain and cramping every month. I am going into my second month on Loestrin, and so far I love it. I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Yaz, and Necon, and they all made me depressed, with horrible mood swings (always angry at the world), weight gain, and did not help with the acne. I know it's only been a month, but I have experienced mild headaches, breast tenderness, but they have grown, and I love it (I was not blessed with breasts), and mild cramping. My periods in the past lasted 5-7 days, but with this it has lasted only 4. I will definitely give this a shot, seeing as it's my last resort."

For Birth Control "I'm 31. Just finished the 3rd month of Loestrin. Severely tender breasts 3 weeks out of the month. Major mood swings and depression during the 3rd week of the month. Headaches got worse over the course of 3 months. Tiny bit of weight gain, no acne, and almost no period, they only last about 2 days. Doctor switched me to LoSeasonique because of the mood swings."

For Birth Control "I had terrible acne when starting this pill, it's been 7 months total taking it. My skin is now completely clear. The only downside to the pill is that I have no period, which started around the 4th month, I have not had one. I used to have heavy and painful ones. Sometimes it worries me, but I'm getting used to it. I have had no weight gain. My breasts are tender, but they have gotten fuller and bigger. I started at a 34C and now am a 34D."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for three years. I didn't realize until I stopped taking it, but it made me a crazy person. I didn't feel like myself at all. When I started taking it, I dropped 15-20 pounds within roughly 2 months and gained it all back almost instantly. I also had painful intercourse and very tender, lumpy breasts. I would never recommend this pill to anyone. Now, I've just started Mononessa for PCOS."

For Birth Control "I am 18 years old, and I have been using the pill for about two months now! I love it! I've lost weight, and it cleared up my face. When I have my period, it is very light, before I was on the pill, my periods were VERY heavy. Now I barely have anything, I just wear a liner! The one bad thing I am noticing is that my breasts are very sore. This is affecting me a lot with my all-star cheerleading. I've looked it up, and people have said this will go away in time. I'm willing to wait because the pill has done nothing but good for me!"

For Birth Control "I heard a lot of horror stories about this medicine, but, though I realize I'm only on my second pack, I'm happy to say the side effects are bearable. The first month I was really nauseous a lot, and I spotted blood every single day for a month. That, admittedly, was annoying. But it's better than a lot of what I was hearing. Aside from maybe being a tiny bit more prone to crying, I've not had mood swings, anxiety, depression, or unreasonable anger. I haven't gained tremendous weight, though my breasts have gotten HUGE. Husband isn't complaining. They're still sore often, but nothing terrible. Overall, I'd recommend it. I still don't totally trust birth control pills, but this one is bearable."

For Birth Control "This is my first time ever taking birth control of any kind. I've been seeing my boyfriend for about 8 months, and until about a month and a half ago, we used condoms. Then I decided to get put on birth control. I'm currently about halfway through my second pack, and things seem to be going pretty well. Probably about the second week of my first pack, I had abdominal cramps. Just like period cramps. My breasts also hurt really bad. But both of these symptoms went away within a few days. My period was also shorter and lighter, but my cramps were just as horrible as normal. I haven't gained any weight, that I know of. I don't weigh myself weekly, so I'm not sure about that. But everything else seems pretty normal."

For Birth Control "Prior to Loestrin 24, I used the NuvaRing for about six years. Towards the end, I started noticing weight gain, crazy moods, etc. I stopped using birth control for about 7 months. Now I'm using Loestrin 24, this is the beginning of my second week on it. So far, I've experienced massive bloating, nausea, very tender breasts, headaches, and mild spotting. I have not had my period. I'm a week late, so I'm hoping it comes soon. I have noticed my face has cleared up a lot, so that's a plus."

For Birth Control "I have been using Loestrin for about a year now, and at first, I had horrible mood swings, I was hungry all the time, and my breasts hurt. Overall though, I loved the pill because it made me have shorter periods, and it made my breasts bigger. After a while, however, I started gaining weight in all the wrong places. When I started Loestrin, I was 105 lbs, now I am 125 lbs. I have tried everything to lose the weight, and I haven't had any luck. I am switching THIS WEEK!"

"After 2 months on the generic form of this pill, my doctor suggested I move to Loestrin. It seemed pretty awesome because for the 3 months I was on it, I had no periods or cramps. I did experience weight gain, breast tenderness, major mood swings, loss of libido, and a slight increase in acne. Personally, I loved not having periods. It was cool, and it saved me money on tampons. But the lack of sex drive was enough to convince me and my doctor that this wasn't the birth control for me. I've switched to Ortho Tri-Cyclen and lost the 7 pounds I had gained in the 3 months I was on Loestrin. I'm cramping and having periods again, but my sex drive is back at a decent level, and my emotions are better in check. Don't be afraid to switch birth controls."

For Birth Control "I felt great on Loestrin 24 Fe during the first two months of use. My periods were just tiny bits of spotting, and my acne cleared up entirely. During my third pack of pills, I had pregnancy symptoms during the second week of use that scared me: vivid dreams, bad nausea without vomiting, sensitivity to smells, heavy appetite, moodiness, and most distinct was the pain of breast tenderness. I had been pregnant before, so I was familiar with the feeling. Multiple pregnancy tests, including a blood test at the doctor's, eventually ruled out pregnancy. I was so stressed by the symptoms, but they turned out to be caused by the pill."
