For Birth Control "I am 17, and I started taking Loestrin on day one of my period as instructed. I had my period for nearly 2 weeks on the active pills (normally, they didn't last more than 4 days). I didn't have a period at the end of that cycle, but I attributed it to the bleeding in the beginning. In the middle of my second cycle, I experienced severe nausea, anxiety, bloating, and breast enlargement. I then started worrying about the missed period because the symptoms corresponded to pregnancy. Although I had not missed any pills and had also used a condom, I felt paranoid about pregnancy. Having had mild anxiety problems before, Loestrin has amplified them. I do not recommend Loestrin to anybody with anxiety issues."

For Birth Control "Prior to Loestrin 24, I used the NuvaRing for about six years. Towards the end, I started noticing weight gain, crazy moods, etc. I stopped using birth control for about 7 months. Now I'm using Loestrin 24, this is the beginning of my second week on it. So far, I've experienced massive bloating, nausea, very tender breasts, headaches, and mild spotting. I have not had my period. I'm a week late, so I'm hoping it comes soon. I have noticed my face has cleared up a lot, so that's a plus."

For Birth Control "I'm 25 yrs old. I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 9 months now for ovarian cysts. I like it. I'm not as moody, the cycle only lasts for 4 days instead of 7 days. Breast size was C 34, now D 40. I haven't lost weight, still have headaches and nausea. This is my 9th month, I haven't started my cycle yet and I am 5 days late."

"I am a 17-year-old girl. I weigh 125 pounds, and am 5'5''. I have been on this medication for about 4 days now. I like it, but at the same time, I don't. This is the first birth control I have ever been on. So, I have been having mild nausea and headaches, but nothing else. I started this birth control with 4 days left in my period. It ended on time and was very light for the last day or two. I take it around bedtime, but since I get that sick feeling, it keeps me from falling asleep easily. But don't feel discouraged. Once I fall asleep, I am knocked out for the night. It's great, and then I wake up in the morning again and feel sick, but it should get better after month 3."

For Birth Control "I have had awful headaches, severe mood swings, spotting every two weeks off and on, and horrible cystic acne. I've really had many acne problems, and within a few weeks of taking this birth control, I had huge cysts of acne (two on my face and one on my chest). In case you don't know, cystic acne is basically a huge oversized painful pimple that can take up to six months to go away. Only one on my face has just recently gone down. I'm sick and nauseated all of the time, and since I spot every now and then, I couldn't tell if I missed a period or not!"

For Birth Control "I took this pill for just over two weeks. I had never been on the pill before - I always did the depo shot, so this was a whole new experience at 36 years old! I was prepared for side effects, and the first week of use, I had some headaches, slight nausea, and pretty strong cramping. The second week brought on crazy mood swings, and that is actually what made me stop. I've been off the pill for 5 days now and slowly feel like I am myself again. I would have had no problem hanging in there with the other side effects, but I became someone I didn't like (or my husband and friends) for that last week on the pill. I had no patience for anyone or anything, I was angry at everything."

For Birth Control "I started taking Loestrin for pregnancy prevention two years ago with virtually no side effects. This birth control has the lowest dose of hormones, which controls nausea (a huge problem with previous birth controls). My skin looks great, no weight gain, cramping, or bloating. PMS and hormones are regulated, and my period disappeared after about six months. My breasts did get bigger - not a full cup size, but maybe a half - and I have found that sentimental things make me cry easier than before I was on the pill. Most importantly, though, this birth control PREVENTS PREGNANCY. I take it every day at the same time +/- 30 minutes and have never had a scare in two years!"

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin for about a year and was always concerned about not having a period. My husband and I tried just using condoms for a while, but after a few months, I decided I needed to go back on some form of oral birth control. My doctor suggested TriNessa, which has a higher dose of hormones, so I will have my period each month. After only a month of that, I have noticed extreme anxiety and mood swings, random spotting, loss of libido, and nausea. I know it takes a while to get into my system, but I've already gained 10 pounds. Next month, I'll be switching back to Loestrin. I had no side effects and no weight gain when taking it, other than not having a period, after being assured by my doctor it is safe and normal. I'll go back to Loestrin."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for almost 2 months, being the first pill I've ever tried. I have no complaints about the effectiveness, when taken at the same time every day, give or take 5 or 10 minutes, it prevents pregnancy. However, I've unfortunately suffered the side effects. The first month I was spotting for about 2 weeks until my period, which thankfully was now only 2 days long versus my previous heavy 5 to 7 days I normally had. I had intense headaches, nausea, and occasional mood swings. Another side effect that wasn't common (as far as I can see from these reviews, yet still possible) is vaginal itching in this second month. It is bothersome. Yet, these side effects seem to be diminishing. I'm not complaining, this is just my body getting used to it."

For Birth Control "I am finishing my second month of Loestrin and like it overall. I was on Lo Loestrin for 2 months, and it was not working out (breakthrough bleeding, cramping, bloating), so my doctor switched me to this pill. I still have had breakthrough bleeding (more like just spotting) for the last two weeks of every month, but the 'period' at the end is practically nonexistent, with no cramps, which is great. I have noticed a bit of water retention, but nothing green tea and extra water can't solve. I've also had some occasional nausea, but nothing too bad, and it passes quickly. And I've gained 1/2 a cup size. Overall, I'll stick with this pill and hope the spotting goes away in the next few months because that's my only real complaint."

For Menstrual Disorders "I'm starting my 2nd month of this birth control, so it's not quite enough time to determine if it's amazing yet or not. However, the first month is usually the worst. I was on Ortho Evra for almost a month when I began experiencing horrible side effects, and so my doctor switched me to Loestrin 24 Fe. The main reason I'm taking it is because I have very heavy periods that last for 7 days, which leads to extreme cramps and nausea, as well as feeling faint. The first month taking this went extremely well. I didn't have any spotting, my period started as soon as I took the brown pills and ended once I took the white pill again. Side effects: headache, nausea, moodiness, bloating, diarrhea."

For Birth Control "Like a few other people here, I have only been on this pill for 2 months. I started using it because of my irregular cycle. I was a bit scared to start it because of some reviews I was reading, about it making people crazy, emotional, and anxious, but decided that everyone responds differently to different pills, and I gave it a shot. I take it at night because I wanted to try to avoid nausea. I still feel a bit nauseous when I wake up for the few days after I restart the placebo. Like it did for others, my breasts got bigger and constantly feel sore. Also, I do have spotting, though I'm not sure if it's because I'm not always exactly on time when taking the pill (an hour or 2 off). Overall, I like it, but I'm annoyed with the spotting."

"One month with this pill since I started it. I have a lot of mouth dryness, nausea. I prefer taking this pill before going to bed, that way, I don't feel anything else, but it bothers me completely to have a dry mouth the whole day. Hopefully, it gets better."

For Birth Control "Due to my highly irregular and heavy periods, my doctor prescribed Loestrin 24 Fe. I'm only on my 2nd week, so some side effects right now are slight nausea, headaches, and some light bleeding. They're not unbearable either, very tolerable. I'm off to a good start with this pill, it has actually already started to clear up my skin a little, and so far I've experienced no other changes like mood swings, bloating, weight gain, etc. But I'll have to wait and see, I guess. So far though, I really like it."

For Birth Control "I am 18 and had my first child 18 months ago. I started Loestrin to prevent pregnancy. I am a week into my second pack. The first 2 weeks I had some nausea, and I am still getting bloating and sore breasts, but other than that, it has been good. My periods were always light, and the first period I had while using Loestrin 24 Fe was 3 days of pantyliner, light bleeding, and very, very mild cramping, which was reassuring but not annoying. I would recommend."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin 24 for a year and a half now due to heavy periods and severe cramps, and I haven't had many problems with it. My periods have gotten lighter, only lasting about 4 days, and I have had little to no cramps. I never gained any weight, and my breasts were never tender. Though, one side effect that I did always seem to have was yeast infections. Also, if the pill was missed or taken late, then it made me very nauseated, and I had to miss class a few times. Overall, it was a great birth control, but I am now switching to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo."

For Birth Control "I am 18 years old. I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for 1 year and 2 months so far, and I am very happy with it. Before the pill, I had unbearable cramps, and my periods were very heavy, however, within the first month on the pill, my period became light, lasting 4-5 days, and my cramps became barely noticeable. As far as side effects, honestly, I can be very irritable and/or emotional at times and occasionally a little nauseous, but that only lasts for a couple of minutes. Also, I did not gain any weight. I would recommend trying this pill, however, everyone reacts differently."

"So I have been taking Loestrin for about 1 1/2 years, everything is great except the price. I used to pay $24 a month. Then, when I lost my insurance, it went up to $98. Before Loestrin, I was on YAZ, it made me feel nauseous, breast pain, and no sex drive. I switched to Loestrin, and everything is amazing, but since I am a college student with rent, I cannot afford it."

For Birth Control "I had a very good experience on this birth control, it was my first, too. The only problem I had was light acne, or that might just have been me being 15. My periods were around 2 days long, and I never got in bad moods or emotional. This birth control worked great for me-no weight gain, nausea, or anything."

For Birth Control "I'm 22, and this is my first time on birth control. I've been on Loestrin for 8 days now, and I'm only taking it to prepare my body for when I get married in a few months, so I'm not using it to prevent pregnancy at this moment. The first few days, I was kind of shaky and dizzy, but the past 3 days, I've felt nauseous and very tired. At this point, I'm wondering if it's worth it to feel bad on a daily basis? I'm going to continue taking the pill, but I might switch to taking it at night, like some reviews have suggested. I'm optimistic that the side effects will wear off after a month or two. I'll try to post another review after I've gone through a pack or two."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on this pill for two years. The first couple of months, I had a lot of nausea and sickness. For the rest of the time, I would either have two periods a month, every other week, but they were fairly light, or go months at a time with no bleeding at all. I'm switching to a different pill now just because I need a generic form, and there isn't one yet for Loestrin 24."

"I've been on this pill for over 5 months, and it is a nightmare! The second month, I had severe, severe nausea every day until I started taking my pill right before I went to bed. I have breakthrough bleeding every month, and it's now on a regular cycle. I get my period Wednesday of the second week, and it stops around Monday of the fourth week. Plus, I also get it the last 3 or 4 days on the placebo pills. However, no weight gain."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for 4 days now. So far, not so good. I have been very nauseous. Tired. Have absolutely no energy whatsoever. I switched from Ortho, which I loved. I felt amazing on it, and I didn't have much of a period. But I was gaining so much weight. I hope these side effects go away!!"

For Birth Control "I've been on Loestrin for 5 weeks now. I had many side effects so far. I've had the heavy spotting almost like a regular period 2 weeks before my actual period supposed to start. My breasts are tender and I feel nauseous all the time. I take mine before I go to bed and they said to take it with food, it should help with the nausea. I get dizzy and very moody. I do mean MOODY! I thought about stopping, but I read from others to stick with it and it will get better. I just had a baby six months ago, so I know my hormones need time to adjust to this pill too. I'm going to keep trying to take it and wait and see if I feel better."

For Birth Control "I have done a month of this birth control. I am okay with taking the pill, but something like a NuvaRing or the Implanon would be easier for me. But this pill made me sick when I missed a day and took two, so I took some Tylenol for my horrible headache (I believe that was also from Loestrin 24). I haven't had any noticeable weight gain. I also have no other complaints other than the mood swings I had been throwing at my boyfriend and my family. My doctor switched me to Lo Loestrin because it is a lower dose. We will see how that goes, and I'll make sure I leave a review with all that I try. Thanks for all the reviews I have read!"
