For Acne "When I first went on this birth control about 2 years ago (in hopes of curing my migraines my doctor thought may be hormonal and fixing moderate acne), I went absolutely crazy. It made me have HORRIBLE mood swings, and I found myself in a terrible mood all the time for no reason (crying about stuff I never cried about, snapping at people, etc.). I had never been that way before this pill. My first period on this pill was ROUGH, I was extremely depressed and emotional and just wanted to cry in bed. The pill did seem to help with my headaches, although it never helped at all with my skin. It made my periods way lighter and less painful, which was a perk. My advice is to stick with this medicine for a long time and wait out the pain."

"I was on Loestrin 24 Fe for about 3 months. I just stopped taking it, didn't even finish the pack. I noticed I was eating a lot more, constant appetite. I stepped on the scale to see I've gained about 20 lbs, never before had I eaten like that. My breasts, as well, got noticeably bigger. My emotions were up and down, horrible mood swings and depression as well. I would have no cramping, barely any bleeding, which was great since I was used to such bad cramping and heavy periods. I've been off for about 4 days now, and I just got my period, and the terrible cramps have started."

For Menstrual Disorders "I've been depressed or angry very quickly while on this pill; crying at the drop of a hat. My period didn't come this month. Last month, I spotted one day during my 2nd week, another time during my 4th week, and that's it. I gave it three months and am switching."

For Birth Control "I was on LoLoestrin for 3 years and finally discontinued it in June 2018. The entire time I was on it, I noticed a lot of mood swings and anxiety but didn’t really think much of it for the first 2 years. Then, within the last year, it started to get worse and worse, I was crying all of the time, constantly sad, and arguing with my husband a lot! I had turned into someone that I was not, and I started thinking about what could be causing this!? I decided to stop the pills, and I’m starting to feel like myself again! The mood swings and sadness gradually stopped! I know these pills affect everyone differently, but unfortunately this one was not the one for me. I’m trying an IUD next, so we will see how that goes!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 4 years. It was my favorite out of all the birth controls I tried until this year. I am 5'6-5'7 and have always been about 125-130 pounds. I am now about 150-160 pounds, I skipped a period two months ago and got this month's period late. I am not pregnant. I will randomly feel sick and depressed. I have lost my sex drive, and my boobs will hurt. I have extreme cramps and find myself experiencing tons of mood swings. I think it is time to switch to something else."

For Birth Control "I have been on Loestrin 24 for 10 months now, and my periods haven't been longer than 3 days. The third month, my period was really heavy, and I had bad cramps. As far as birth control, I haven't been having sex, and I never had bad acne to begin with. Overall, I've had a moderate experience. I take the pill in the morning, and it does make me nauseous. I also am very depressed on it and experience crazy mood swings. I spend at least one day out of the month crying, and the littlest thing will ruin my mood or make me want to cry. My mom and sister talk about how I have multiple personalities because my mood is so unpredictable."

For Acne "Update from spookyblack: I forgot to mention the terrible nightmares I have been having. They are really messed up, and there is breakthrough bleeding. This pill has made me super tired, depressed, and has gnarly mood swings. I have been eating a lot and have gained a lot of weight. Great, just in time for summer, right? I have felt the worst about myself and my looks ever since I started this pill. Please don't do this to yourself, and not to mention the nasty acne I, and so many girls, have experienced."

For Acne "My gynecologist gave me this pill to 'regulate my hormones (periods),' and it was the worst decision ever. I ended up quitting the pill after I reached a month because it gave me THE WORST ACNE OF MY LIFE (which I'm still suffering from a month after quitting), mood swings, depression, and HORRIBLE BLOATING! And I have suffered from acne all my teen years (17 now), but it was regular hormonal kind of acne I would get during that time of the month. I actually had pretty bad acne ear. But the acne I have now is on a whole other level. And to top it all off, the pill didn't even do what it was supposed to do. I didn't get my period while on this pill, and now I have a regular period again. I wish I would've never taken this pill!!!!!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I am a 40-year-old female with heavy bleeding and painful ovarian cysts. My gyn recommended this pill. I almost completed my sample pack. I am on the second brown pill and awaiting my period. It makes me nervous when I don't see my period. At least I am happy to read that I will see my period when I take the third brown pill. I have to say that the first month was rough. I had very bad headaches, and I noticed I was very moody and even felt depressed. I did not experience any nausea or weight gain. I will stick it out for three months and see what will happen."

For Acne "This is the worst birth control I have been on. I would not recommend this birth control to my worst enemy. I was on it for 3 months and had the worst mood swings, depression, and worst acne that I still suffer from even after 2 months of being off it. I never usually write reviews online, but knew I had to warn anybody thinking about going on this product. I had such a clear face before I began this birth control, a few minor zits during my period, but that's normal for anybody, but after this, I still have red cystic acne... it's horrible. I used to be able to wear no makeup, now I can't even leave the house without makeup because I'm too self-conscious of my acne. DO NOT GO ON THIS BIRTH CONTROL."

For Acne "Absolutely terrible, this pill made me depressed, angry, and anxious. I can barely sleep at night, and it's causing my cheeks to break out (I've never had acne on my cheeks...). I've also had to go to the doctor because I fainted multiple times (note: I have never ever fainted or even come close to it), along with being lightheaded, nauseous, and having no appetite whatsoever. I'm 19, and I've been on it about 3 months. Would not recommend unless you want to be a completely different person (for the worst). The one good thing is I haven't had a period since I've been on it."

For Birth Control "Loestrin is about the 6th birth control pill that I have been on in the past 4 years. Yaz, Ortho Tri, Sprintec, Yasmin, and now Loestrin. So far, it has been one of my favorites. The first month, I was a bit moody, but that subsided. Periods only last for about 2 days at the very most. Definitely increased my sex drive, no headaches or even pain around my period. The only negative is that about 2 days before I start my period, I tend to get really depressed, but as soon as it starts, the depression is gone, and I'm back to normal."

For Acne "Absolutely horrible. I have been on this for about a year. I guess I never put two and two together and realized what was causing my breakouts until looking up other women's experiences. I have horrible cystic acne on my cheeks that will come and stay, and then my skin will be perfectly clear, and it will come right back, not to mention the scars this has caused me. I also agree it has made my anxiety absolutely horrible, and sometimes I get so depressed I literally will just cry. I go back to the doctor in February, and I am going to ask to be switched. I'm hoping this acne clears up, it is absolutely embarrassing... especially when your job makes you deal with the public all day."

For Birth Control "So I’m a 38-year-old mom of four and started this pill only to stop having a period (I skip the last week of pills and go straight into taking a new pack of 3 weeks of white pills after taking my last white pill in each pack). My tubes are clamped, so I literally just wanted to stop bleeding completely, and my doctor okayed it for me to do so. It has my skin looking flawless, my mood swings and depression are completely gone after being on this birth control just 5 months so far, and in itself is a godsend cause. I was struggling extremely hard with my moods and all-around mental health, it’s almost like my hormones were always out of whack after having my last child, but now are totally on track. I have lost over 10 pounds and am now 5’6” and weighing 119. My boobs did hurt really bad the first two months, but that has stopped, and they have now grown a cup size larger. This birth control has changed my life for the better, and I never see myself going off of it."

"Took this pill for 1.) Acne and 2.) Birth Control. I have had a side effect that very few people had, which was hair loss on the scalp. Big amounts of hair would come out when I would shower. I realized this happened to me with a previous birth control as well, but want to note for others as a precaution. I got extremely bloated on this medication. I have a flat tummy, and it looked like I was pregnant, which was painful and annoying. This also gave me a very backed-up system, which I never get. I got extremely nauseous, very moody, heartburn, anxiety, and some depression. The only pro was that my breasts grew a cup size. Can't complain about that! I've been off of this pill for three days, and all of these symptoms are gone."

For Birth Control "If I could give this a 0, I would. It was the first birth control I had ever been on and trusted my gyno when she prescribed it, little to no periods, awesome, let's do it. She told me it would take up to three months for my body to adjust. Three months exactly I stopped taking it. Anxiety, depression, not quite suicidal, but I definitely wouldn't have cared if I died, hair falling out, zero sex drive, violent angry outbursts (I hit my sister for bumping into me), and a non-stop period! I was miserable, this pill was absolute hell."

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for over four years. I discontinued and started with the NuvaRing because of how much of a negative impact the Lolo had on my mood. I would have mood swings, ranging from anger to depression and suicidal thoughts. What’s even worse is that the hormones in it caused my pH to be off balance, so I was constantly either getting a yeast infection or BV EVERY MONTH. It was miserable! After speaking with my gyn, she recommended going on NuvaRing because it constantly gives you the same amount of estrogen and lessens the chance of you getting an infection because the hormones are constant-versus Lolo is always up and down with the hormones. Since switching, I haven’t gotten any more infections, my mood is “normal” again, and I haven’t experienced crazy back pain, cramps, etc., like I did with Lolo. I would recommend anyone try NuvaRing or another birth control that ISN’T Loestrin."

"I used this pill for about 3 years. It was hard to adjust to at first, but then, as time went on, my body adjusted. My chest went up a cup size, which I did not mind. But I gained weight substantially. I noticed my attitude start to change drastically over the past 8 months. I would act like a crazy person for no reason. I would get upset and cry over things I would have never gotten mad about before. I accused my boyfriend of everything, and eventually, he couldn't take it and broke up with me because he thought that's how my personality really was. I was insecure and depressed. I began to think that I was bipolar, but it was the birth control pills. I stopped taking them about a month ago, and I already feel better."

For Birth Control "I'm 16, I was on the Depo shot for 8 months but had crazy bleeding, switched to Loestrin. First 3 months were great, minimal bleeding/no periods. This is my 5th month, and I'm finally having periods (not complaining, takes the scare out of thinking I'm pregnant). I started to have horrible cramps, and I get super bloated about a week before I start. For the past week, I've been on the verge of crying every 5 minutes. I have CRAZY mood swings, and I've been slightly depressed. I can't handle it anymore, and I'm going to switch."

For Birth Control "I recently switched off of this birth control after 10 months. I had no complaints for the first couple of months. My cup size increased from a 34B to a 36C. I am naturally prone to depression, so when I started to have suicidal ideation and deep depression, I at first attributed it to my own mental state. After a few months, I finally realized that I consistently got my period in the week following the worst bouts of depression, leading me to believe that my birth control was at least partially responsible. I gained 20 pounds and experienced difficulty with motivation. I finally switched because I experienced two days of constant bleeding ('spotting') two weeks into my cycle for five months in a row."

For Acne "This is the 7th day that I'm taking this birth control. I still don't know how it will affect my period, but so far it has made me break out on my chin and around my mouth. It gives me bad headaches and makes me depressed. There is no way I will continue taking this birth control."

For Acne "I have been taking this pill for about 8 months, and let me tell you, what a nightmare. At 32, I thought I had left my acne problems in my teens. I have been depressed, crazy anxiety from the bad acne this pill has given me, whiteheads and cyst-like pimples all over my chin. I don't recommend this to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I'm 19, and I have been taking Loestrin 24 for almost a month. My periods used to be moderately heavy, with a lot of cramping, and would last at least 7 days. I started my period on a Friday and started taking the pill the next Sunday. My period stopped before the end of the next day. I have experienced a little nausea. One day, my stomach hurt so bad I thought I was going to puke. It has also made me more depressed and moody. Another complaint I have is the time between my periods. It used to be so regular, 28 days every time. I just started my period after only 24 days. I am not happy about this at all, it ruined my vacation. Other than this, no other side effects. No acne, weight gain, or anything else I've noticed."

For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I was on. It was terrible. I had two periods a month and had rage like a crazy person. Also, I was depressed all the time and just felt like sitting in the comfort of me, myself, and I. I don't want to blame the birth control for my breakup with my boyfriend at the time, but I definitely think it was a huge part."

For Acne "I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for only a month. I didn't have painful periods until I got off of birth control. I was on Depo (the shot every 3 months), and I did not have a period, but I did gain almost 15-20 pounds. I was on Depo for 3 years, and then I decided to get off, and I wanted to have a normal period. That's when everything went downhill. I would be in so much pain that I would call out of work, miss classes, and the pain caused me to be depressed. After ultrasounds, x-rays, no sex (too painful), they found nothing wrong. The doctors gave me Yaz, and that made me feel worse. It did control my mood swings, but not the pain. Loestrin 24 Fe has been great so far."
