For Birth Control "I've been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 3 months now. I tend to have occasional nausea, but nothing that's too bad. My sex drive has gone up by a lot to the point where I feel like I'm on Viagra 24/7. I lost about 5-10 lbs since the pills make me not want to eat at all (I have to force myself to eat since I could literally go days without eating now). I do have a lot of abnormal spotting and bleeding, but it could just be because I just started taking them. I did notice, though, that the pills make me feel a lot more anxiety and depression, but the sex drive and sex makes it go away. Overall, this pill seems to work for me, but I might be thinking of switching to a stronger pill!"

For Birth Control "If you're currently taking Loestrin and experiencing mood swings/depression, etc., don't think your moodiness will eventually dissipate over time. I've always been a fairly upbeat, positive, rational person. Since taking Loestrin (I'm into my fourth pack = four months), my mood swings have continued to get worse. I cry or tear up at the most random things, for no reason at all. I am anxious and my moods are unpredictable. On a positive note, Loestrin has reduced my period to 1-2 days a month with very light bleeding."

For Birth Control "I am so happy to find these reviews. I originally tried Loestrin 24 a few years ago, and it was great! However, I went back to school and could not afford it anymore. I started using it again a few months ago. I felt tired all of the time and never had any energy. I would always get really bloated, experienced symptoms of pregnancy. My mom was even convinced I was pregnant due to my symptoms, breast tenderness, but I decided to stay on this pill because I now have short periods. I can wear a pantyliner when on my cycle and cramps only the 1st day of my cycle. However, I have been a nut basket, my moods are all over the place. I am always angry, sad, crying for no reason, argumentative. I couldn't figure out why."

For Birth Control "I am 25, 130 lbs and am in good overall health. I have been taking this medication for almost 3 months now, and as of today, I am going off of it. It didn't make me gain weight, but my mood has been horrific. I have no motivation to do anything, I quit going to the gym and am constantly in a bad mood. It also made me break out like crazy. Big, ugly, long-lasting breakouts too. I can't handle it anymore, and neither can my husband. I'm finding something else."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have been on this pill for six months now. While obviously the general intent of the pill has been great, sex with the boyfriend and no pregnancy scares, otherwise I am not a fan of this pill. Every month since beginning, I have had two periods a month. Also, I am twenty-four and had finally gotten out of the bad acne scene of my life, and this pill has brought it back. I have gained weight, but I know that is due to the fact that my boyfriend is deployed and I have found comfort in donuts. I am depressed, but again, I don't know if that's the pill or the boyfriend gone issue."

For Acne "I would not recommend this birth control to anyone. I have NEVER had acne or oily skin in my life (I'm 25 years old now). Actually, I've always had pretty clear skin and very dry skin, and now it's filled with cystic acne, and it's constantly oily ever since I switched to this. I have given it 4 months because that's what my OBGYN suggested, and it just seems to keep getting worse and worse. And not to mention, I've gained 15 pounds, and I'm pretty sure it's made my depression and anxiety worse. I go on the 25th of this month to get switched back, and I wish I could just throw this crap in the trash, but I'm afraid it'll throw my periods out of whack if I suddenly stop taking it. Ugh! It's awful."

"The first six months of this pill were a dream. I had been so fed up with all the other pills I've tried. There was no weight gain (I was able to lose my freshman 15), and my sex drive was great, though no improvement or decline of the acne situation. Six months in, I started getting two periods a month and gained 20 pounds in places I've never gained weight before. My emotions have been absolutely out of control: constantly irritable, always on the verge of tears, and no energy. I'm still on it for the simple fact that going off it could cause unbearable depression- I've tried before. Currently attempting to get to my home gyno and get a new prescription."

For Menstrual Disorders "I have got to just say this pill hasn't worked for me. I was given this pill because I have a small fibroid. My doctor just said let's try this and see if this works. Even though the fibroid is small, it is very painful at times. I have been on this pill for about two months, and boy does it have me going crazy. I haven't gained weight or had any acne problems, but I have had so many extra cycles, and I'm not talking about spotting. It's like when I take this pill I start my cycle all over again every day. I have also been VERY depressed and moody, which is usually not me at all. And last but certainly not least, my blood pressure has been through the roof! I have decided today I am going to stop."

For Acne "It was horrible. Hated my life while taking it. Never had bad acne before until this. During the second week of taking Loestrin, I got really bad and painful cystic acne. It wasn't just on my face, it was all over my body. It got to a point where I didn't feel like walking out of my house because of it. Mind you, this happened over the course of only 2 weeks. I also felt super depressed and moody, nauseous. I didn't feel like myself. It helped my cramps, but it was definitely not worth it. Switching to another BC. I was hopeful everything would be fine, but it turned out to be a hellish experience. Would not recommend to anyone, for sure."

For Birth Control "I started taking Loestrin 24 Fe after taking Tri-Sprintec for 4 months and experiencing depression and mood swings. I just finished my 3rd pack of Loestrin 24 Fe, and I did not get a period each of the 3 months. I took a pregnancy test, which was negative. Reading these other reviews makes me feel at ease that this is not unusual with this pill, but I am still planning on calling my Dr. I felt like I had all the physical signs of getting a period each month, but nothing at all. Other than no period, I only had sore breasts at the start of pack 3, but that went away in 2 weeks. I do experience nausea, but I get that with every pill I have tried so far. Not sure if I like a pill where I don't get a period."

"I'm nineteen, and this is my first time on birth control. I'm NOT having a good experience at all. I have been bleeding for fifteen days straight. I'm always dizzy and have constant headaches. I'm always depressed, and the breast tenderness is non-stop. I think I'll be coming OFF it."

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old, and this is my fourth birth control. I have had problems with ovarian cysts since I was 14, so my doctor put me on birth control to help with the pain and cramping every month. I am going into my second month on Loestrin, and so far I love it. I have been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Yaz, and Necon, and they all made me depressed, with horrible mood swings (always angry at the world), weight gain, and did not help with the acne. I know it's only been a month, but I have experienced mild headaches, breast tenderness, but they have grown, and I love it (I was not blessed with breasts), and mild cramping. My periods in the past lasted 5-7 days, but with this it has lasted only 4. I will definitely give this a shot, seeing as it's my last resort."

For Birth Control "I'm 31. Just finished the 3rd month of Loestrin. Severely tender breasts 3 weeks out of the month. Major mood swings and depression during the 3rd week of the month. Headaches got worse over the course of 3 months. Tiny bit of weight gain, no acne, and almost no period, they only last about 2 days. Doctor switched me to LoSeasonique because of the mood swings."

For Birth Control "I was put on this for birth control and because I've been getting my period every 2 weeks. I only took this for three days, but the side effects were alarming. My arms went partially numb, I got random pains in my legs, pins and needles in my feet, and my palms got sore-that last one I thought was really odd. I stopped a couple of days ago, and I feel horribly depressed. I am guessing it's from having my hormones shaken up and it will subside. Hopefully soon though, it's starting to take a toll on me and my relationship. I felt like a lunatic when the first pill made its way through my system, now I'm just sad."

For Acne "The first couple of months I was on this, it was perfect. It regulated me as I never really had a regular cycle, maybe 4 times per year. Then I became so emotional, constantly crying and depressed. As prior to taking this, I would have never let anyone see me cry. I had increased anxiety. I also had gone from hardly any periods to 2 periods per pack. I guess it was thought of as me making up for lost time. I never had any trouble with acne, a few breakouts before my cycle but very minimal. No weight gain."

"I was previously on Ocella for a few years and found that one to work great, except for breakthrough bleeding. I switched to Loestrin 24 for about 6 months, and I am coming off of it. I became so depressed and felt like I was in a fog. I have always been a pretty happy person. It was so bad I had to just stop taking the pills in the middle of the 7th month after constantly being on birth control pills since I was a teenager. I did a lot of research about the estrogen and progestin ingredients and am going to try Apri."

For Birth Control "I took Loestrin 24 Fe for 8 months, and while my acne certainly improved and my period was lightened, that's about the only compliments I can give this medicine. I took my pill every day at the same time. Rarely was I ever late in taking it. Despite all that, my libido decreased exponentially, I had two small periods during the month, and experienced radical mood swings (feelings of anger, depression, and anxiety). To those of you who have had a good experience with this pill, I'm happy for you."

For Birth Control "I started Loestrin 24 as my first birth control pill. I started it the third day of my period, as my doctor instructed, and my period lasted four days longer than normal. My bleeding stopped, then for four days, and then started again and lasted for two months! My gynecologist says that sometimes birth control takes 2-3 months to even out. Well, the first month, I had breakthrough bleeding on and off and had several days in a row with little to no bleeding. The second month, I bled for four solid weeks. I had no sex drive, some cramping in between periods, and I felt very depressed and insecure. This was not the pill for me."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin for around a year, and I needed to get off of it because it made me very depressed. I was always moody and upset, and two of my friends told me that Loestrin made them feel like it too. I've been off of it for about two months now, and I feel so much better. Other than the depression, there weren't many bad side effects. I just couldn't deal with the mood changes."

For Birth Control "I gave this pill 4 months, and my face has been progressively getting worse with each pack. I'm also on 75 mg of spironolactone, and I feel like that helps some, but not enough. I went on this to help with my chronic headaches and menstrual migraines, but it didn't help either. In fact, my cramps and migraines were horrible. I felt so sick every time I would bleed. I'm getting headaches every day still, and I break out constantly. I'm also super depressed and feel down all the time. That just started with the 4th pack. The pros are I didn't gain any weight. My breasts grew a cup size, and I didn't get pregnant."

For Birth Control "Been on Loestrin 24 for about 4 months. Love the fact that it's taking care of the terrible menstrual cramps and bloating I used to have. On the flip side, it tends to make me sad a lot more, but with time, I think I can control that. Also, I am gaining weight in my hip/thigh area. I really don't mind if it's just temporary. So far, so good, I like the pill-it's making my time of the month a really easy time. For 1 month, I had no period at all."

For Birth Control "I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I told my boyfriend to help monitor my emotions when taking this pill, and I didn't even need his input to realize my anxiety and depression got worse. This pill affects people in different ways, and some lucky women don't have the worsening anxiety and depression as a side effect. But just know that if you do struggle with mental health before the pill, have someone keep track of your emotions. This pill wasn't good for me, and if you struggle with mental health, it may be something to be hyper-aware of. I am going to switch to another birth control and hope that it helps me. Best of luck, ladies! I hope this review helped you."

For Birth Control "I liked Loestrin when I took it at age 18. I didn't have any periods at all for about 9 or 10 months after being on it for about a month, I didn't gain any weight, and it didn't mess with my mood too much. However, I wouldn't be in the mood for sex, which really upset my boyfriend, and when we did have sex, I'd get dry pretty fast. It worked well and did its job, but sometimes made me depressed and have no sex drive whatsoever."

"I am almost 19 and have been on this pill for about a year. In the beginning, I had breakouts and probably gained 5 lbs. I liked this pill, and it has worked for me. My acne has improved. However, I am always upset about something. Some days I am totally fine, and then I begin to feel depressed. I am constantly being mean to my boyfriend, although I do not mean to be. This works differently for everyone."

For Acne "Was on Microgestin 1/20, but was making me depressed, so doctor prescribed this. Really only taking this to regulate periods and help clear up acne. Took the pill for three nights and already have three huge cystic pimples on my face. I rarely get cystic pimples, usually just some whiteheads around the time of the period. Also felt extremely nauseous and lightheaded. Not continuing with this, it is different for everyone, but not worth it for me."
