For Birth Control "I am 16. I was on Loestrin for 5-6 months, and at first, I did have some spotting/bleeding (but I had also taken my pill late the first few months, so maybe that was why). Before I got on the pill, I had a very heavy period, and I would go through 7 tampons sometimes in one school day. Loestrin did thankfully make my period a lot shorter and lighter, however, sometimes I would have a discharge the week before my period. I did not have any weight gain, but the pill caused me to have MAJOR mood swings towards my 4th-6th month. I was depressed sometimes and would feel the need to cry a lot. It was affecting my friendships and relationship. I just switched to Lutera on Sunday, and hopefully this pill won't have any side effects."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I'm on my first pack of Loestrin, and so far, I've had some serious cramps! Face is clear, mood swings are out of this world! The other day, I was so irritated with everything and everyone! I have had some breakthrough bleeding, but I have not gotten my period yet. I'm on the last week of pills! If these cramps don't go away and these mood swings don't stop, I have to get off this medication!"

For Endometriosis "I just started taking it after I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis after suffering for many years with painful cramps. I took it on my first day. Today is my second, and I don't have any cramps. Thank goodness I'm not in pain. I'm still bleeding heavy, but no pain. We'll see if this continues to work."

For Birth Control "This birth control was advised to me strictly to help the awful symptoms of my menstrual cycle: stomach aches, heavy bleeding, etc. and Loestrin ended up taking my period away for over a year. This, although it seems amazing, did not seem healthy to me at all. I also lost a ton of hair the first month or so of going on it. My hair is still not healthy as it was before: barely grows, a lot drier. I currently am off of it, and it took me almost 4 months to finally get my period back again. Now that the symptoms are back in full swing, I am wishing I never went off of it obviously, but I am definitely afraid of going back on it and losing my hair all over again, so it looks like I am toughing out the symptoms with the rest of the female race."

For Birth Control "I gave this a try to help regulate my period and help my acne, but all it’s done is made me bleed very heavily for three weeks straight while I’m on vacation. I feel humiliated as I have turned to adult diapers as nothing else is absorbent enough. All my clothes are soaked with blood, and I’m so angry."

For Birth Control "I'm 16, I was on the Depo shot for 8 months but had crazy bleeding, switched to Loestrin. First 3 months were great, minimal bleeding/no periods. This is my 5th month, and I'm finally having periods (not complaining, takes the scare out of thinking I'm pregnant). I started to have horrible cramps, and I get super bloated about a week before I start. For the past week, I've been on the verge of crying every 5 minutes. I have CRAZY mood swings, and I've been slightly depressed. I can't handle it anymore, and I'm going to switch."

For Birth Control "I was on Loestrin 24 for 6 months. No mood swings or side effects, but I just switched because my breakthrough bleeding got bad. I would have spotting off and on, and then I was having a period the week before my brown pills. My doctor said this level of estrogen was too low for my body, but otherwise, I think it was fine."

For Birth Control "I recently switched off of this birth control after 10 months. I had no complaints for the first couple of months. My cup size increased from a 34B to a 36C. I am naturally prone to depression, so when I started to have suicidal ideation and deep depression, I at first attributed it to my own mental state. After a few months, I finally realized that I consistently got my period in the week following the worst bouts of depression, leading me to believe that my birth control was at least partially responsible. I gained 20 pounds and experienced difficulty with motivation. I finally switched because I experienced two days of constant bleeding ('spotting') two weeks into my cycle for five months in a row."

For Endometriosis "I have stage 4 endometriosis. I have been taking Loestrin 26 for one month. I am miserable. Bleeding almost every day, weight gain, swelling over my entire body, terrible nausea and diarrhea, and unmanageable exhaustion. I am a physician and trying to avoid a second excision surgery and the terrible periods with adenomyosis, but these side effects make me feel worse than before. I can barely function except for work. I skipped the placebo pills, and to no avail, I am still bleeding. Time to call the surgeon's office. So disappointed with this drug."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Since being off birth control for about 4 years, I decided I wanted to try a mini pill. I have endometriosis, and my doctor had mentioned it could help with ovarian cysts. Since day 1 of taking this pill, I have been bleeding. It's now the end of my pack, and I still have had bleeding throughout the entire time. I don't really want to continue taking it if this is going to continue, the point of going on the pill was to prevent pregnancy, but if I'm bleeding all month anyways, I don't even have sex, so there's no point. I have also never had acne, and now it's all over my face, which makes me depressed, and my self-esteem is now horrible! The only thing I like about this pill is the fact that I didn't gain weight and my moods are decent."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I'm on my second month on this pill (it was a 3-month free sample), and I have been pretty good with making sure not to miss (I have missed once or twice by an hour tops). I am not perfect. But honestly, I have gotten constant bleeding and spotting in an unfavorable color. I am trying to wait out till my gyno appointment next month, but I went on this pill for protection, but mainly because I was fainting/having awful side effects on my periods, and it's now recurring at a larger scale. This was supposed to be my first pill, but I feel like it's been an awful experience."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for about 8 or 9 months and did not like it. I was constantly having breakthrough bleeding, I felt as though I was bleeding all month long. I gained a lot of weight and had terrible headaches about 3 to 4 times a week."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for almost 2 complete months. I'm fairly impressed. No weight gain, no mood swings, no breakouts; it is actually helping my skin, thank goodness! Very few cramps, breasts slightly fuller; but not sore or tender, slight increased appetite, and super light and short periods. My only concern is breakthrough bleeding was terrible the first month and a little in the early second month. But it's stopped for now, and I hope it doesn't come back! I would recommend it to anyone!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I do not recommend this pill. After being off birth control for 7 years, I wanted to go back on. My doctor prescribed it to me, saying 'most' people don't get their periods or many side effects at all. After one week of taking the first blue pills, the bleeding started. Not to mention the unbearable cramps and back pain. The mood swings, crying for no reason. Day 4 of bleeding today, and not only is it still there, but it has gotten even worse. I gave it a few days, but after this morning, I am NOT taking this pill anymore, and I don't even know if I'll go back on another after this horrible experience. Luckily, my insurance covered most of this, but STILL. Stopping halfway through the pack. DO NOT GO ON THIS PILL!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "So I started this pill about 2 or 3 years ago, and I don't remember my starting side effects then. But my first time around, it was GREAT, I had really bad periods prior to starting this pill, and Lo Loestrin caused me to not have one at all. I loved it, and my sex life was flourishing with my boyfriend. In April of this year, I had to stop taking it because I lost insurance coverage and couldn't afford it at the manufactured price. Instead, I started taking a pill that brought my period back, but it was bearable. I started back on Lo Loestrin in June 2017 and was already on my cycle from the last pill. I thought once I took my first blue pill of Lo Loestrin, my period would begin to ease up, but no, it's June 30th and I'm STILL bleeding."

"I was on Yaz for two years, and I had no problem with it, but my mom and gyno, who don't even know me, decided it caused mood changes for me and changed me to Loestrin 24 Fe. I've been taking it for two weeks, and it's horrible. I'm having cramps randomly throughout the month and light bleeding that is completely random, and I've been taking the pill every day at the same time. Before I started, I had completely finished my period. This is horrible, and I have noticed my acne getting a little worse, but I never connected it to the birth control until now. I need to go back to Yaz. I guess maybe if Yaz doesn't work for you, then this will."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill since November, it is now mid-June. I have not had any spotting, any bleeding, nothing at all! This pill is definitely supposed to regulate... not eliminate! I can admit that I'm enjoying not having a period at all, but I just made a doctor's appointment just to check that everything is fine, and that when the time comes for us to want kids, everything will be normal."

"I have been on Loestrin 24 for about 5 and a half months. For the first 2 months, it was horrible. I was bleeding consistently for like 20 days in a row, and the bleeding would only stop for a few days every couple of weeks. I was extremely moody and angry, and I did gain a little bit of weight. Also, my acne went away slightly, but nothing dramatic. On about the 3rd month on the pill, my period FINALLY started getting normal. The breakthrough bleeding stopped, and my period is now very, very light and not painful. I get breakouts and breast tenderness the week before my period, but it's not bad at all. My advice to those who just started: WAIT IT OUT. It's incredibly frustrating, but it takes a little bit of time for your body to adjust!"

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for two years, and everything was awesome! My acne did worsen significantly, but my dermatologist fixed me right up. Nauseous the first month on the pill. I used to have extremely heavy periods, and this pill made my period completely vanish! If there ever was a period, it was only there when I wiped, so it was very light. Unfortunately, I recently had to switch pills, for some reason, it made me bleed for two months straight. Most importantly, there were no pregnancies!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 3 months now. I tend to have occasional nausea, but nothing that's too bad. My sex drive has gone up by a lot to the point where I feel like I'm on Viagra 24/7. I lost about 5-10 lbs since the pills make me not want to eat at all (I have to force myself to eat since I could literally go days without eating now). I do have a lot of abnormal spotting and bleeding, but it could just be because I just started taking them. I did notice, though, that the pills make me feel a lot more anxiety and depression, but the sex drive and sex makes it go away. Overall, this pill seems to work for me, but I might be thinking of switching to a stronger pill!"

For Birth Control "For the first month, I had no issues with this pill. The second month, I started bleeding a week and a half before I was supposed to start my period and was emotional 24/7. The third pack I was on, I didn't bleed early, but I was still emotional. The fourth and fifth, which I'm currently on the fifth, I started bleeding a week and a half early again... I also have terrible cramps. I take the pill every morning, I never miss it... Will be switching birth controls after this pack."

For Endometriosis "Due to a recent endometriosis diagnosis, my doctor switched me to Lo Loestrin from Sronyx. The first day I took the pill, I started cramping and bleeding like never before. I usually have really bad cramping, body aches, and heavy bleeding, but only for 3 days. It's now been 9 days on the pill, and I am still bleeding heavily, cramping, and having body aches. I don't understand and am so worried. I started the pill to control all these symptoms, but it's been very frustrating and confusing."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Lo Loestrin Fe for about 8 months. I was placed on Lo Loestrin due to excessive bleeding as a side effect of another medication. My cycles over the last 8 months have been on one month and off the next month, however, this month it all changed. The week my cycle should have come on, it failed to do so, and this would have been my on-again month. There is absolutely no chance that I am pregnant. I started my new pill pack, and my cycle decided to come on the same day. I am now into my second week of blue pills, and my cycle is still on. I can't take my other medication during this time because it causes excessive bleeding and clots. Don't know what to do next."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is my first month taking the pill. I have been off birth control for the past 9 years. I have been experiencing heavy bleeding, really bad cramps, and periods lasting more than 10 days. My doctor prescribed this. I take it at nighttime before I go to bed, and so far, no complaints. My period started last Thursday, and I started the pill on Sunday. On Tuesday, my period was gone. I will update you in a few months."
