For Birth Control "I took Sronyx for 3 months. I quickly became very anxious and depressed. For three weeks, I cried every day. I didn't feel like myself. I was very sensitive in general. My drive was pretty much gone. I also gained a slight amount of weight. However, my skin was pretty clear. Immediately after I stopped taking it, I felt a lot better. I'm extremely nervous to take anything new now because of how terrible I felt on this."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control since I was 15. I needed another form of BC when I was taking Accutane. I stayed on it because I obviously became sexually active and didn’t want to get pregnant yet. I am now 27 and dealing with a lot of problems in my relationship. No sex drive, I have constant headaches, I am overly emotional (which I originally thought was just me), crazy mood swings before and after my cycle, depression, anxiety. I am going to stop taking it to see if my side effects go away because I don’t want my relationship to fall apart. I have gone to numerous doctors for my depression, mood swings, etc., and none of them have ever mentioned that it could be my birth control. That’s incredible to me. My one positive about Sronyx is that in the 12.5 years of taking it, I have not gotten pregnant or had any pregnancy scares."

For Birth Control "I had been on this birth control for a little over a week, and I felt like I was a completely different person. Extreme anxiety to the point of almost having multiple panic attacks a day, feelings of depression, and thoughts I never had before that actually scared me! And the worst part was having absolutely no appetite, I was forcing myself to eat every single day. I stopped taking it two days ago, and it’s insane how quickly I feel myself again. I know every woman experiences medication differently, but this birth control may not even be worth a try!"

For Birth Control "I started this pill Sronyx 5 months ago after the pharmacy switched me off Lutera. The first few weeks I was having really bad cervix area pain. After that subsided, everything was alright for a little while. After about 2 months, I noticed I gained about 10 lbs and my hair was coming out more often in the shower. No other side effects until about month 4 when I started noticing how depressed I was becoming. This pill has turned me from a sweet, kind, and patient person into a monster. My anxiety has skyrocketed, and I've fallen into the deepest depression of my life. I'm not myself anymore, so I decided to just stop taking all BC for a while. The only upside to this pill is it kept me from getting pregnant and cleared up my acne."

For Birth Control "Please do not take this contraceptive. It made me gain 25 pounds in 3 short months. I did not change my eating habits and had actually been burning more calories than before I started it. I constantly had a migraine and was stressed out and depressed. I knew I immediately needed to do something. At first, I thought that it was just my hormones not adjusting, but I have had more acne with this, headaches, and so much unbelievable weight gain. I do not recommend!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for about 3 1/2 months. I only had breakthrough bleeding the first month, and I never experienced nausea. I had small headaches, but those didn't bother me. However, over the past 2 1/2 months, I have been the most depressed, fatigued, and angry I have ever been in my entire life. I don't want to do anything or see friends or family, and it only lessens when I'm on my placebo week, so I know this isn't a coincidence anymore."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for just over 6 months now. I am so ready to find a different one. I never had headaches until I started taking this pill. I experience them at least three times a week now. This pill has made me constantly crave sweet junk food. Hello, weight gain! I also have been extremely emotional. I feel depressed about everything, and I feel like crying more often than not. Not the pill for me!"

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old and have been on this birth control, Sronyx, for about two years. In the first 3 months, I gained 15 pounds, which has never happened in my life. I have always been an active athlete, so weight gain had never been a problem until then. Thankfully, it was all water weight, so I lost it all in about 2 weeks after working really hard at the gym. My periods are short (about 3 days) and light. However, this birth control has made me an emotional wreck. Anxiety, depression, paranoia, are all through the roof. I cry like 3 times a day for no reason. I have always been a healthy, happy-go-lucky girl, and this birth control has completely changed me for the worse. I am always in a horrible mood and forget what it's like to be genuinely happy. I am going to get this switched ASAP and hopefully, I will return to my normal self soon. I wish I hadn't taken it for so long. It took me a while to realize that it was my birth control causing these issues. I thought I was becoming actually depressed."

For Birth Control "If new to this birth control, do not continue to take it. I am a healthy 20-year-old girl, and this birth control has made me feel terrible. To start, I have been on Lutera (0.1 mg of levonorgestrel and 0.02 mg of ethinyl estradiol) for 3 years now, and one day the pharmacist decided to change me to the generic Sronyx (0.1 mg levonorgestrel and 0.02 mg ethinyl estradiol) in September because they were out of Lutera. They are supposed to be the same thing, but I can't believe that. I will never go back on this birth control because of the terrible cystic acne and the terrible side effects of depression and anxiety. When I started to take it, oh my goodness, I had anxiety to the point that I would break down in tears and cry every time I woke up, and I didn't sleep well while being on this medicine. Not to mention I have never had depression in my life, and now I am still struggling to get myself out of the depression stage because of this medicine. I am hoping to feel like myself again sometime soon because I cannot tell you how upset this makes me feel. If you struggle with depression or bad anxiety, stay away from this medicine because it will make everything so much worse."

For Birth Control "I started this pill about 8 months ago, and I blew up. I’ve gained at least 40 pounds, and not to mention it made my boobs grow out of nowhere. When I first started taking this pill, I was a 36C, and now I am a 40DD. I hate this pill. Because of all the weight gain, I can’t fit into my clothes, and it causes depression. The only reason I gave this pill a 2 was because I haven’t gotten pregnant, but the side effects are bad."

For Birth Control "I went on this pill after being on the NuvaRing for several years, and I have never felt so depressed. My life is wonderful and relatively low stress, but everything seems like a hurdle while I'm taking this pill. Not to mention a severely decreased sex drive. I actually look forward to my period weeks when I don't have the hormones in my system! Definitely looking forward to going off this pill - almost a year of it and the only positive was not getting pregnant!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for about 2 years now. It has made me gain over 40 pounds and increased my acne when I am on placebo pills. I am constantly depressed and eating more than when I was on other birth control pills. I am bloated and constantly having pregnancy scares. I am currently having abdominal cramps and white discharge, I have lighter and lighter periods. I do not drink or smoke. It feels there are more side effects with this type of birth control, and I will take an at-home pregnancy test. Other than that, the next doctor's visit I will most likely change my birth control."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control when I was 17. I got it from a private clinic at my high school. I wanted to be protected and feel safe while having sex. However, the nurse did not warn me of the horrible side effects. A while after I started to get UTIs, something I never ever had before. That’s not the worst part. I started to have the worst anxiety ever. I was having anxiety attacks at night, insomnia, crying for no reason, loss of motivation. It was the worst stage in my life, I was going crazy. I even went to a therapist. I honestly believe that this birth control was causing all these mental problems. I have now stopped taking birth control. The side effects are not worth it, I feel so much better now that I went off it."

For Birth Control "Wanted a low-dose oral BC after being off for about a year and a half. Was rx'd Sronyx from PP. I wanted low-dose because I've dealt with depression before. This pill made me absolutely crazy. I felt okay the first week, but I've never been more irritable, moody, and depressed. I've had anxiety and literally feel like another person. Can't wait for this to clear my system."

For Birth Control "At first, I thought I loved this pill, the problem with it crept in so subtly I didn't notice it (very similar to a previous complaint I saw on here). I've never had issues with anxiety or depression before taking this. About 7 months into taking the pill, my anxiety skyrocketed, and I became increasingly depressed. Insomnia also became a consistent problem, and I seriously thought I was losing my mind. My relationship with my husband also suffered from these serious side effects as I became extremely moody and would cry for no reason and not understand why. My advice would be to seriously monitor how you feel while on this pill and note any changes in mood - because it definitely creeps in slowly."

For Birth Control "I'm getting married in 3 months and did not want to get pregnant before the wedding. Usually, I do family planning for birth control, and that has worked out great. But my fiancé and I have been having unprotected sex a lot, so I decided to go on the pill until the wedding. I started Sunday, and it has been a NIGHTMARE! I started crying about the smallest things, which is so abnormal for me. I have never been the emotional type. This began on Day 3. By Day 5, I was truly depressed and yelling at my fiancé because he fell asleep before I made it back from the store to help me with my bags. Day 6 is when I came to the realization and started reading about the side effects. For such a small pill, it does a lot of damage. Please do not take this."

For Birth Control "I was on Sronyx birth control for a little over a year. Throughout that year, I had become extremely depressed and full of anxiety. I became a totally different person and was miserable constantly. I had no idea, at the time, that it had anything to do with the birth control. For the last few months, I have been having extremely long periods. I’m talking three weeks. I talked to my gynecologist, and we switched to a new birth control pill. Wow, I feel completely back to normal. I really wish I hadn’t taken this pill for so long. I knew about the normal side effects like nausea, and those were fine with me. They came and went. But if you take this medication and experience depression, talk to your doctor. This birth control can work great for some people. It was not at all a good fit for me. Long periods, depression, crippling anxiety. Not worth it to me."

For Birth Control "I am 33 and have been off of birth control for 9 years. Reading reviews for birth control (generally) is terrifying, and I really think everyone reacts differently. That said, I was previously on Cryselle-28 and had no negative side effects (also, no pregnancies), but when I stopped taking it, I just felt better. So, this time around, I decided to try a different birth control and went with Sronyx based on online reviews. I am generally in good health and have regular periods, no mental issues, etc. THE GOOD: Sronyx definitely bumped me up half a cup size, no weight gain, no hair loss, no skin change, no pregnancy. THE BAD: turned me into a very unstable version of myself. I was severely anxious, depressed, and experienced panic attacks. This is the first time in my life I've ever experienced such emotional swings and paranoia. I noticed the side effects within days of starting Sronyx. I stayed on it for the full month, but nothing improved. Now I am going back to Cryselle!"

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Sronyx for 4 months now, and I love it! I cried constantly for the first week, but other than that, I have not had any negative side effects. No weight gain, no mood swings, no anxiety/depression (and I am somebody who is diagnosed with both!). Here are the positives I experienced: higher sex drive, my bra size went from a DD to a DDD, no pregnancy (my boyfriend and I got lazy about condoms for a few weeks, and he never pulled out, and I was still good!). I can’t really say much about how it’s worked for my acne, since I started Accutane a week after starting the BC. I am so thankful that this has worked out for me, I saw so many bad reviews on this website and almost didn’t take it because I got so scared. Everybody reacts differently to different medications. It’s always worth it to give it a try (unless you have a legitimate medical reason not to, of course!)."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Cons: Caused me to have a recurrence of cystic acne on my face and acne on my body, terrible mood swings, fatigue beyond belief, worsened depression and anxiety, difficulty eating from nausea, and general vaginal irritation from changed pH. Whenever I would get stressed, I'd spot, often bad enough to ruin underwear and pants. Pros: It kept me from being pregnant and shortened my period from 3 weeks to 5 days. My new OB/GYN immediately swapped me to a new BCP when she saw it last week and told me the dose of hormones in the pill can be harsh on some women, so take with caution. Or just don't take it. It's safer that way."

For Birth Control "I was only on Sronyx about a month, and by the last week of it, I felt extremely depressed and anxious to where I had to go to the doctor to have her prescribe something. I’ve had depression and anxiety before, but never to this extent, to where I literally had no control, no matter what I tried. I won’t be using this again, and now I’m reluctant to use any birth control. I was having thoughts I’d never normally have before, and it was scary. I was a total mess. Couldn’t eat, drink, work, anything."

For Birth Control "After a few hours of taking the first pill, I felt slightly sick and sleepy. I woke up feeling down and took the next pill, about three hours later, I was nauseous and sick to my stomach. I threw up after the 5 hours of nausea and finally felt a little better. On the third day, I didn't take it because I was already feeling emotional and depressed, not to mention still sick and slightly weak. A birth control pill has never affected me this way before."

For Birth Control "I was originally taking Aviane, and they gave this knockoff (generic) to me because they weren’t getting Aviane anymore. I thought I’d give it a go because I was too lazy to switch my medication pickup location. WORST DECISION. I began becoming extremely moody. Then I began to start becoming depressed, and I wouldn't eat. I kept taking it for 2 more weeks and noticed I dropped 13 pounds. It didn't occur to me that it was the pill until my family began asking if I was anorexic and asked about my birth control. Since then, I have completely stopped taking it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "This is an update to my review in June. I've now been on Sronyx for 4 months for premature ovarian failure. The first 2 weeks were okay, but severe fatigue and depression hit about a month in, and it took a few weeks to come out of it. I don't love this pill, but it's pretty comparable to most oral BC pills I've tried. The patch has been a better experience for me, but it didn't provide enough hormones given my condition."

For Birth Control "At first, when I started taking it, I loved it. I get my period on time, till I started to feel depressed and moody all the time. I used to have my face clear, till now, now I have like a rash on my face, and I can't get rid of it, so I'm going to stop taking it because it makes me cry all the time over nothing, and my skin isn't the same anymore!"
