For Birth Control "I took Sronyx for 3 months. I quickly became very anxious and depressed. For three weeks, I cried every day. I didn't feel like myself. I was very sensitive in general. My drive was pretty much gone. I also gained a slight amount of weight. However, my skin was pretty clear. Immediately after I stopped taking it, I felt a lot better. I'm extremely nervous to take anything new now because of how terrible I felt on this."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control since I was 15. I needed another form of BC when I was taking Accutane. I stayed on it because I obviously became sexually active and didn’t want to get pregnant yet. I am now 27 and dealing with a lot of problems in my relationship. No sex drive, I have constant headaches, I am overly emotional (which I originally thought was just me), crazy mood swings before and after my cycle, depression, anxiety. I am going to stop taking it to see if my side effects go away because I don’t want my relationship to fall apart. I have gone to numerous doctors for my depression, mood swings, etc., and none of them have ever mentioned that it could be my birth control. That’s incredible to me. My one positive about Sronyx is that in the 12.5 years of taking it, I have not gotten pregnant or had any pregnancy scares."

For Birth Control "I had been on this birth control for a little over a week, and I felt like I was a completely different person. Extreme anxiety to the point of almost having multiple panic attacks a day, feelings of depression, and thoughts I never had before that actually scared me! And the worst part was having absolutely no appetite, I was forcing myself to eat every single day. I stopped taking it two days ago, and it’s insane how quickly I feel myself again. I know every woman experiences medication differently, but this birth control may not even be worth a try!"

For Birth Control "I don’t recommend this birth control at all. At first, I felt like I had no symptoms other than my breasts hurting all the time! But then, as time went on, I realized how it made me start feeling crazy. I have always had anxiety/OCD, but taking this birth control made it unbearable. I had to get on anxiety medicine. I have never felt like more of a mess in my life. Now that I just got off, I already feel so much better. Definitely not doing that again. Oh, and yes, it does give you acne, I’ve never had a problem with breakouts until taking the pill."

For Birth Control "I started this pill Sronyx 5 months ago after the pharmacy switched me off Lutera. The first few weeks I was having really bad cervix area pain. After that subsided, everything was alright for a little while. After about 2 months, I noticed I gained about 10 lbs and my hair was coming out more often in the shower. No other side effects until about month 4 when I started noticing how depressed I was becoming. This pill has turned me from a sweet, kind, and patient person into a monster. My anxiety has skyrocketed, and I've fallen into the deepest depression of my life. I'm not myself anymore, so I decided to just stop taking all BC for a while. The only upside to this pill is it kept me from getting pregnant and cleared up my acne."

For Birth Control "Please do not take this contraceptive. It made me gain 25 pounds in 3 short months. I did not change my eating habits and had actually been burning more calories than before I started it. I constantly had a migraine and was stressed out and depressed. I knew I immediately needed to do something. At first, I thought that it was just my hormones not adjusting, but I have had more acne with this, headaches, and so much unbelievable weight gain. I do not recommend!"

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old and have been on this birth control, Sronyx, for about two years. In the first 3 months, I gained 15 pounds, which has never happened in my life. I have always been an active athlete, so weight gain had never been a problem until then. Thankfully, it was all water weight, so I lost it all in about 2 weeks after working really hard at the gym. My periods are short (about 3 days) and light. However, this birth control has made me an emotional wreck. Anxiety, depression, paranoia, are all through the roof. I cry like 3 times a day for no reason. I have always been a healthy, happy-go-lucky girl, and this birth control has completely changed me for the worse. I am always in a horrible mood and forget what it's like to be genuinely happy. I am going to get this switched ASAP and hopefully, I will return to my normal self soon. I wish I hadn't taken it for so long. It took me a while to realize that it was my birth control causing these issues. I thought I was becoming actually depressed."

For Birth Control "If new to this birth control, do not continue to take it. I am a healthy 20-year-old girl, and this birth control has made me feel terrible. To start, I have been on Lutera (0.1 mg of levonorgestrel and 0.02 mg of ethinyl estradiol) for 3 years now, and one day the pharmacist decided to change me to the generic Sronyx (0.1 mg levonorgestrel and 0.02 mg ethinyl estradiol) in September because they were out of Lutera. They are supposed to be the same thing, but I can't believe that. I will never go back on this birth control because of the terrible cystic acne and the terrible side effects of depression and anxiety. When I started to take it, oh my goodness, I had anxiety to the point that I would break down in tears and cry every time I woke up, and I didn't sleep well while being on this medicine. Not to mention I have never had depression in my life, and now I am still struggling to get myself out of the depression stage because of this medicine. I am hoping to feel like myself again sometime soon because I cannot tell you how upset this makes me feel. If you struggle with depression or bad anxiety, stay away from this medicine because it will make everything so much worse."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for 3 years. I’m so glad I got off it. I can’t believe how stupid I was not to see the correlation between my destroyed relationships and erratic behavior and this pill. I trusted the medical industry so much and never even thought to ask my doctor about it. Even though I went ballistic and wanted to hurt myself regularly, I thought it was just my problem for some mystery reason, like “depression” or “still getting over a breakup!” because I’m a “woman”! If you’re behaving like you’re possessed or have any anxiety, it’s not you, it’s the pill. Since I stopped taking it, I haven’t had a single issue or anxiety attack or anything. Not only that, I started hearing music in my head again. Only once it came back did I realize it had been gone for so long. Never again."

"I was put on Sronyx after my pharmacy was not able to provide me with Aviane. To start off with, I did feel like it was an adjustment going from Aviane to Sronyx. I was on Aviane for 3 months before switching, and I noticed I felt more anxious and short-fused during the first and maybe the second pack of Sronyx. I did notice that I lost weight though (just a few pounds of water weight, I think). I have now taken Sronyx for 3 months and don't really feel like there are negative symptoms. Prior to taking Sronyx, I was SEVERELY depressed around my cycle (PMDD is a real thing) and was having repetitive intrusive thoughts about death. I also had ridiculously painful periods, to the degree the pain would cause me to vomit multiple nights in a row. Three months into taking this pill, the intrusive thoughts are gone, and I just get minor cramps. I honestly feel like I got my life back and could not be happier."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control when I was 17. I got it from a private clinic at my high school. I wanted to be protected and feel safe while having sex. However, the nurse did not warn me of the horrible side effects. A while after I started to get UTIs, something I never ever had before. That’s not the worst part. I started to have the worst anxiety ever. I was having anxiety attacks at night, insomnia, crying for no reason, loss of motivation. It was the worst stage in my life, I was going crazy. I even went to a therapist. I honestly believe that this birth control was causing all these mental problems. I have now stopped taking birth control. The side effects are not worth it, I feel so much better now that I went off it."

For Birth Control "Wanted a low-dose oral BC after being off for about a year and a half. Was rx'd Sronyx from PP. I wanted low-dose because I've dealt with depression before. This pill made me absolutely crazy. I felt okay the first week, but I've never been more irritable, moody, and depressed. I've had anxiety and literally feel like another person. Can't wait for this to clear my system."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for about a year now. (I switched from Lo Loestrin because I was having bad side effects from that pill after being on it for 2 years.) I really do not recommend Sronyx at all. There are zero positives to this birth control besides the fact that it prevents pregnancy. To start, I get horrible mood swings and anxiety the week before my period all the way through to the end of my period. I get massive migraines during my placebo pill week to the point where I have to just go to bed because it hurts to even look at light. Then, in between my period and starting a new month of pills, I get a yeast infection from the hormone imbalance. Other negatives include drying out my vagina, which totally brings my sex drive down, bloating, and breaking out by my chin and jawline (which other reviews say also). Just overall bad. I can't wait to switch off of this one."

For Birth Control "At first, I thought I loved this pill, the problem with it crept in so subtly I didn't notice it (very similar to a previous complaint I saw on here). I've never had issues with anxiety or depression before taking this. About 7 months into taking the pill, my anxiety skyrocketed, and I became increasingly depressed. Insomnia also became a consistent problem, and I seriously thought I was losing my mind. My relationship with my husband also suffered from these serious side effects as I became extremely moody and would cry for no reason and not understand why. My advice would be to seriously monitor how you feel while on this pill and note any changes in mood - because it definitely creeps in slowly."

For Birth Control "I was on Sronyx birth control for a little over a year. Throughout that year, I had become extremely depressed and full of anxiety. I became a totally different person and was miserable constantly. I had no idea, at the time, that it had anything to do with the birth control. For the last few months, I have been having extremely long periods. I’m talking three weeks. I talked to my gynecologist, and we switched to a new birth control pill. Wow, I feel completely back to normal. I really wish I hadn’t taken this pill for so long. I knew about the normal side effects like nausea, and those were fine with me. They came and went. But if you take this medication and experience depression, talk to your doctor. This birth control can work great for some people. It was not at all a good fit for me. Long periods, depression, crippling anxiety. Not worth it to me."

For Birth Control "I am 33 and have been off of birth control for 9 years. Reading reviews for birth control (generally) is terrifying, and I really think everyone reacts differently. That said, I was previously on Cryselle-28 and had no negative side effects (also, no pregnancies), but when I stopped taking it, I just felt better. So, this time around, I decided to try a different birth control and went with Sronyx based on online reviews. I am generally in good health and have regular periods, no mental issues, etc. THE GOOD: Sronyx definitely bumped me up half a cup size, no weight gain, no hair loss, no skin change, no pregnancy. THE BAD: turned me into a very unstable version of myself. I was severely anxious, depressed, and experienced panic attacks. This is the first time in my life I've ever experienced such emotional swings and paranoia. I noticed the side effects within days of starting Sronyx. I stayed on it for the full month, but nothing improved. Now I am going back to Cryselle!"

For Birth Control "I am a 23-year-old, and I actually came here to see if people were having the side effects I was. I have been on the pill for 2 weeks and three days! That’s how quickly it took for me to have crazy paranoia and anxiety. I went to the ER because I was convinced I had a blood clot, only for it to be symptoms caused by anxiety. I have chest pains, neck pains, and arm and leg pain. They tested me for DVT and pulmonary embolism. Nothing! But that was three days ago, and I still feel like I’m gonna die. I’m super dizzy, and my right leg swells a little. I stopped immediately because I feel if I kept going, I was going to end up with DVT or worse. Just please be careful."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Sronyx for 4 months now, and I love it! I cried constantly for the first week, but other than that, I have not had any negative side effects. No weight gain, no mood swings, no anxiety/depression (and I am somebody who is diagnosed with both!). Here are the positives I experienced: higher sex drive, my bra size went from a DD to a DDD, no pregnancy (my boyfriend and I got lazy about condoms for a few weeks, and he never pulled out, and I was still good!). I can’t really say much about how it’s worked for my acne, since I started Accutane a week after starting the BC. I am so thankful that this has worked out for me, I saw so many bad reviews on this website and almost didn’t take it because I got so scared. Everybody reacts differently to different medications. It’s always worth it to give it a try (unless you have a legitimate medical reason not to, of course!)."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Cons: Caused me to have a recurrence of cystic acne on my face and acne on my body, terrible mood swings, fatigue beyond belief, worsened depression and anxiety, difficulty eating from nausea, and general vaginal irritation from changed pH. Whenever I would get stressed, I'd spot, often bad enough to ruin underwear and pants. Pros: It kept me from being pregnant and shortened my period from 3 weeks to 5 days. My new OB/GYN immediately swapped me to a new BCP when she saw it last week and told me the dose of hormones in the pill can be harsh on some women, so take with caution. Or just don't take it. It's safer that way."

For Birth Control "I was only on Sronyx about a month, and by the last week of it, I felt extremely depressed and anxious to where I had to go to the doctor to have her prescribe something. I’ve had depression and anxiety before, but never to this extent, to where I literally had no control, no matter what I tried. I won’t be using this again, and now I’m reluctant to use any birth control. I was having thoughts I’d never normally have before, and it was scary. I was a total mess. Couldn’t eat, drink, work, anything."

For Birth Control "I did three months of this, and it was awful. I had previously been on Jolessa, which I loved, but wanted a monthly period due to the bad cramps when I finally got my period after three months. However, with Sronyx, I noticed I was a lot moodier, crying a lot, spotting a few days before I was even on the placebo pills. Also, I kept getting UTI after UTI, which did not happen at all with Jolessa. My anxiety skyrocketed, and if anything, I've lost weight due to not being hungry and feeling nauseous when I do eat. I weigh 108 normally, and I've lost five pounds since Saturday. I stopped for a long time and didn't finish my pack due to the UTI pain, so I decided to finish it to see if I had the same symptoms. And yep, everything is back besides the UTI."

For Birth Control "7/10 so far. I have been on it for 2 months, going on three. Not much weight change, I was very skinny before, so if I do gain a little here and there, I’m not mad. Regular periods, no cramps, don’t really have any extra acne than I already had. I will say my mood swings have gone crazy, 2-3 days before I’m supposed to get my period, I’m extremely depressed and anxious! That is my only complaint so far."

For Birth Control "This was the second birth control I tried. The first made me very moody and irritable, so I switched to Sronyx, and it was great. I had absolutely no side effects. I've been on it for 3.5-4 years now, and I'm starting to notice some changes. I've been getting bad acne (I've never had acne in my life, maybe a spot a month). I'm not sure if this is due to my increasing age (22)/lifestyle habits or the BC. Also, I have gotten so moody, irritable, grumpy, anxious, and depressed (again, I don't know if I can say the pill caused this, but it slowly crept up on me, and I can't figure out another reason for it). I'm not sure if it was a long-term thing effect or what, but it's making my relationship with my boyfriend of 3 years suffer."
